  • While Reverend Trask begins his ritual of exorcism on the threshold of the Old House, greater powers are in place as Angelique begins a spell that starts a fire in Vicki's room. Vicki runs out of the house and into Trask's arms.

One of the greatest bloopers in the show’s history: too much lighter fluid on the burning cards. Lara Parker admitted she was at a loss when she realized she had a full page of dialogue to recite and she’d have to do so over a pile of ash.

@@nealwhaley63 I heard that! All of those “live tv” bloopers and anomalies like seeing camera shadows and sound booms in the frame are part of what gives the show charm nearly 60 years later. It was always my favorite show as a kid, I’d run home from school to make it in time

If DS had been historically accurate, then Vicki should have welcomed her day in court since the court in 1795 would have thrown out the case, and she could file counter charges of abduction against Trask for which he would likely have been convicted.
The last witch trials in New England ended in the 1690s about a century before 1795. The last witchcraft trial in all of America that was not dismissed with prejudice against the accusers was in Virginia in 1706.
The court to try those accused of witchcraft in Salem was a special court created by the colonial Governor Phips in May of 1692, and was known as the Court of Oyer and Terminer. On October 29, 1692, Governor Phips dissolved the Court of Oyer and Terminer, a decision that marked the beginning of the end for the Salem witch trials. By May 1693, Phips had pardoned and released all those remaining in prison on witchcraft charges. In the next couple of decades, judges and juries (and even one of the main accusers) apologized for their roles in the trials. Then in 1711 Massachusetts passed legislation exonerating those executed as witches and paying restitution to their families.
In 1706, Grace Sherwood of Virginia was tried by dunking and jailed for allegedly being a witch. This was the last witch trial in America for which the case was not dismissed with prejudice against the accusers.
Rationalist historians in the 1700s came to the opinion that the use of torture had resulted in erroneous testimony in the witch trials. In the late 1700s the practice of witchcraft had ceased to be considered a criminal offense throughout Europe and America, and thereafter, courts dismissed charges of witchcraft, and often charged the accusers with criminal offenses and libel based on their actions against the accused.
For example, in the 1830s, a prosecution for witchcraft was commenced against a Mr. Stout in Fentress County, Tennessee, based upon his alleged influence over the health of a young woman. The case against the supposed witch was dismissed. Some of his accusers were convicted on criminal charges for their part in the matter, and various libel actions were brought.
Also, when Angelique says that Trask said that the punishment for the witch is to be burned to death at the stake in this video clip, I had to laugh. No witches were ever burned to death in America; that was a punishment only in Europe. In America those accused of being witches were killed either by hanging or "accidentally" during the pre-trial tortures to elicit a confession or during the tests to determine if someone was a witch.

Joshua sounds like he believes the whole supernatural tragedies will just disappear once SOMEONE is punished for it. He just wants it to be over and done with. Little does he know, they've only just begun.
No, Trask, you do NOT have the witch. Just a scapegoat.
Barnabas has finally caught on to Angelique, not that it will do much good.

I love the fact that your video releases tell the story in sequential order but I encourage you to put some kind of sequence number at the beginning of the description instead of "NEW" - they all say that. The only date that UA-cam shows when suggesting a video is "1 Month Ago" so in a month these will all show the same thing. Can this series have a unique playlist before you move on to another time period?
