Thank you for your videos! Unfortunately I struggle with almost every pose in this video, mainly because I find it difficult, and often painful, to sit with my spine directly above my hips. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve on this?
+Jasmine Warfield This is a common question/complaint of hero pose. First, the standard answer - you should feel sensation, but not pain. If you feel pain back out of the pose. But, to give you further detail regarding this particular posture... most people feel a lot of sensation in their feet and knees. One thing that is happening in this pose is that some of your circulation is limited to these large joints - the knees and ankles - as you hold the pose. When you release the pose you should feel a strong surge of blood to these joints. This is very healing. If the sensation is too much you can modify by sitting your hips on top of your heels, (instead of between), or you can pad the tops of your feet, by either folding your mat or placing towels beneath your feet. Finally, you can modify by sitting higher on a block. I hope this helps.
