Thank you! It's that templates are variations of different settings? Or something happens under the hood? I mean it's not easy to have take and BBD delays just by varying that parameters.
You CAN save and restore your own toneprints. You need SQLlite for it. They are stored in a local SQLLite database. With the help of a SQLlite-Client you can safe the settings, which are a large blob field in a table row to a file as INSERT statement.
Just got the Plethora 3. Your videos got me started. Thank you. Imo, I don't think it is well set up. No on/off switch, neither my iPhone or iPad will connect via BT, the starter's guide is a joke, the presets are too wet. This isn't just a plug and play unit, but what is? Don't like the wall wart, either. It will take me a little while to make it useable. I really didn't expect so much effort to set up, but here I am.
is there a way to know which template you already have on your pedal? i bought an used hof mini and i got quite used to the sound it has. now i'd like to experiment a bit, but i don't want to lose that sound just in case i end up keeping it. thanks!
It has been years since this video. Has TonePrint sharing been realised yet? At the very least TC could devise a way to export a TonePrint as a file that can be manually uploaded or sent or to another user who will then import the file into their TonePrint software.
question once all that is done , how do get to these presets on the pedal? and how do you know where they are to use them? My guess is you keep an iPad connected and go to your library of presets to tap one to have it play . Simply put what does the pedal do to let you know what setting is loaded . I dont seee any LED's or patch bay numbers or anything on the pedal , it all seems blind . Maybe Im just too old to even ask . :)
Never too old to ask good questions! :) The answer has a few parts and variations, so I'll try not to complicate it too much. You're right about the iPad acting as a library - and you can also use a computer or iPhone / Android phone. To transfer the toneprints to the pedal you have several options - the one common to all pedals is USB cable. If you're using mobile devices you can either "beam" toneprints to the "old" pedals (the chirpy noise with the phone next to the guitar pickups) or, with the Plethora X5, connect via bluetooth. For the last part of the question: with the older pedals without screens, yes - it is essentially a blind process. You choose the toneprint on the app, then send it to the pedal and there's no way of knowing what's in the pedal once it's stored. With the Plethora X5 you get screens to tell you exactly what's loaded where, with the added bonus that you can keep a decent size library of toneprints on the pedal to avoid always having to go back to the app to swap between them. Hope that cleared things up a bit? :)
@@PedalPlatform ah ha , Thank you , Really appreciate you bringing me up to speed on that , I guess most of your users know this ,thats why I finally decided to ask , iI's better to know than to wonder when you'll become that person who knows . Thanks again pal - it is a nice pedal. I appreciate you taking the time .
Hi! Nice to finally see a video explaining this in enough detail. :) I was curious as to which pedals can run which templates? Say I'd like to build a stereo Vibrato (I do actually :) that should be possible with their Corona Chorus, BUT, should be just as easy with the Flashback 2 Delay, correct? Then again, could it be done in a Brainwave as well?? Are there any limitations on what can be edited for which pedal? And another question; is it possible to use the software WITHOUT having the pedal connected, or without even owning one? (It seemed I couldn't enter the editor without owning a pedal... yet purchasing one heavily depends on the options available in the editor!)
Figured out the 2nd question: I can't enter the editor section without hooking up a pedal. Disappointing. Well, then I have some more questions, haha! 1) What LFO Waveshapes are available for modulation? I can see there's more than Sine but NOWHERE can I find which ones (though the Tremolo manual lists square and random(!) but I can't see if those are available for Delay line modulation). Are waveshapes even available for selection in the Flashback2 templates? 2) Can you select the 'Dry Sound' as one of the parameters under knob control? If so, you could gradually decrease the dry volume instead of needing to use the 'Kill Dry' toggle, right? 3) Is there a way to affect the stereo field? In other words, can you set delay times for Left and Right separately, or is there any other parameter that affects only one side? 4) I don't think there are ways to internally modulate the LFO speed or something, right? It's just set to a 'fixed' speed (as per knob or patch setting), but that speed can't be automatically 'jiggled' right? (Sorry if I'm asking a lot; I'm just annoyed that this stuff isn't clear from their documentation :)
Hi Willem, thank your for your comment! I'm still working on this video series, and some of your questions will be answered in the next few videos, but let me try to shortcut them here: - Toneprint pedals can only use toneprint pedals created for that particular pedal, i.e., Flashback will only read Flashback toneprints, Shaker Vibrato will only read Shaker toneprints, etc; - Not all pedals share the same set of editable parameters - the parameter set for a Brainwaves is quite different to the one in the Flashback, because of the nature of the effects they create. Check the "Everything you need to know" series of videos on this TC Electronic playlist, Pete and Tore go into some of the stuff that's available to edit: ua-cam.com/video/yTOVUmDGE18/v-deo.html - That said - a few pedals do have similar parameter sets, so it is possible to create flanger / chorus / vibrato effects with either the Vortex Flanger, Corona Chorus, or Shaker Vibrato. It is also possible to use modulation section of the Flashback, using a digital delay toneprint with delay at 0ms; As for the software question, you can only use the editor side of the TPEditor if you have the respective pedal connected to it. I hope this helps a bit, and do give Tore and Pete's videos a look, that way you'll get to see what parameters are available in most of the pedals. I'll tackle all of this in my next videos, but I don't have a publication date for those yet...
Hi Willem, I just realised we must have posted at a similar time as I missed this 2nd part: 1) There are a few waveshapes available, including 3 different sines, triangle, and sine of cosine; 2) Nope. Because most toneprint pedals have analog dry-through, you can't control the dry signal level - it's either on or off (but you can assign "kill dry" to a knob if you wish). The PlethoraX5 doesn't have analog dry through, but for what I assume are compatibility reasons, you only have access to the same set of parameters of the individual pedals; 3) Off the top of my head, the Dual Delay algorithm of the Flashback 2 allows you to select different delay times and pan position of both voices. The other algorithms automatically detect if you're running stereo and have multiple subdivisions activated and will pan left / right accordingly; 4) I don't think so, no. But if you're using a Flashback 2 you can map it to the MASH switch and use that as an expression pedal to do some 'manual' (pedal...) jiggling, or if you're using a Flashback 2 X4 / Plethora X5 you can use a proper expression pedal. Don't worry about asking too many questions, it's a pleasure to help a fellow effect seeker. ;)
Is anyone else having issues setting the time delay for Flashback 2 templates?? I've tried making two different 2290 delay templates for the intro in The Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin and the intro in Tears Don't Fall by Bullet For My Valentine but I keep running into the issue of when I click the save button the delay time automatically switches back to 366ms ~ when that's nowhere close to either delay times for those two specific songs. This issue has persisted across multiple computers that I've tried using the Toneprint feature with and I'm out of ideas and really frustrated with it at this point. Any feedback would be appreciated especially if it helps me solve the issue.
I have gone over this issue a few times in comments and / or videos, but in a nutshell, whenever you save a toneprint, every parameter that's mapped to a potentiometer gets reset to whatever position the physical potentiometer is in, after applying the curve mapping. Example: if you're editing a digital delay toneprint and your pot is parked fully clockwise, and the curve's maximum value is 7000 ms, when you edit the delay time manually to be 366 ms, the moment you save the toneprint it'll jump back to 7000 ms - because that's where the pot is. This will happen to *every* mapped parameter (feedback and level being the usual suspects). There are two solutions for this: remove the mappings altogether (I don't recommend it, as I've had some funny app behaviour in the past while doing it), or create flat knob mappings at the values that you want. It's a bit more elaborate, but it works. Check out this video for more on this: ua-cam.com/video/GSLmxaXSvLc/v-deo.html, and I think the 2nd one on the toneprint series all mentions it: ua-cam.com/video/aAS0BAeMwTQ/v-deo.html

Hi. I am trying to save my tone prints but it is no possible. After saving it, I can see it in my library but when I reload, appears the original template, no changes. I have the Flashback 2, version 4.4.18. I have read of other similar cases. Do you know about these problems? I think this does not make sense if you have a library for only save the names of your setups.
Hi Roberto, I will try to replicate the issue on my side, but I have so far been able to save new toneprints with changed parameters. Just out of curiosity, what parameters are you trying to change? If it's only the ones that you can change with the knobs, such as delay time, level, or feedback, it might explain your issue; the only values that are saved with the toneprints are the ones that aren't mapped - the other ones are always read from the position of the pots on the pedals. If you want to save a toneprint with a fixed mapped parameter (e.g. a 440 ms delay time, or 25% feedback) that you won't want to change, then you'll have to create a toneprint with a flat mapping (check out this video, starting around 7 mins: ua-cam.com/video/aAS0BAeMwTQ/v-deo.html).
@@PedalPlatform Thanks a lot !!. The problem was as you described it. I also saw the video and I could finally solve it. I really appreciate it. Now I understand why when I loaded the "Walking on the Moon" preset by Andy Summers it sounded different from the original song because it depends on the position of the knobs at that time. Greetings from San Francisco.
Hi! Nope... with some very rare exceptions (modulation effects on the Flashback series, etc), you can only get toneprints related to the pedal's main effect. In the HOF's case, that's only reverbs.
TC Electronic's series of TonePrint enabled pedals, such as the FlashBack delay, HallOfFame reverb, Plethora X5 multi effects, etc. Awesome tools, if you don't know them yet 😁
too bad you don't have a video on the Sentry. Delay, reverb and items like that are typical, but settings for a noise gate are not intuitive and nobody has been able to do one on that pedal.
This is better than the tutorial from TC Electronic 😂 great job!

What do you when the pencil doesn’t show up on the pedal
If you are on the template section (not the Library) and can't see the pencil, it might be that your pedal hasn't been recognized by the editor.
Awesome, glad to have helped! 😀
Can I get a distortion sound for my HOF 2 from the tone print?
Hi! Nope... with some very rare exceptions (modulation effects on the Flashback series, etc), you can only get toneprints related to the pedal's main effect. In the HOF's case, that's only reverbs.
Good voice - didn't know pedals could be calming 😂
Thank you! 🙏🏻 Mmm... I wonder if I should edit some of these into meditation videos... 🤔😆
@@PedalPlatform I think you're onto something!
What types of pedals utilize this??
TC Electronic's series of TonePrint enabled pedals, such as the FlashBack delay, HallOfFame reverb, Plethora X5 multi effects, etc. Awesome tools, if you don't know them yet 😁
too bad you don't have a video on the Sentry. Delay, reverb and items like that are typical, but settings for a noise gate are not intuitive and nobody has been able to do one on that pedal.
