  • My first one I felt was a fail so I had to make another one that I hope is better understanding. This video I hope will help people understand how to use Y-Splitters for amplifiers and just car audio in general.

A Y-splitter creates a parallel circuit. In a parallel circuit, voltage stays the same. Just wanted to point that out. That's why RCA Y-splitters work so well.

Matthew Younger or if you can't find y splitters then just make one out of 2 rca cables by cutting the other ends off and then soldering the other ends to one rca plug so that you end up with a rca cable that has 2 rca plugs on one end and 1 rca plug on the other end so splicing and dicing is a alternative to using y splitters

No they don’t. They drop voltage when you split the rca running from the headunit

    • @floridaborn3664

@@teemarsters5477 sundown audio debunked this theory, since voltage is a circuit it has no affect on signal output strength. It will remain the same.

  • @casperskafs

@310richard I think it actually does make a difference. Because if it puts your amp in mono and you have your subs hooked up a certain way things might not work right. I might be wrong but I think I had mine backwards and tried hookin up a bass processor and it wouldn't work right. Then I tried hookin up my crossover that I know works and it was acting funny. You might want to put the effort out and see how its hooked up

My front loader has 2 preout

I have a loc wired in to my speakers and hooked up to the input jack of my bass processor. I have the output rca jack running to an amp. On that amp I have two splitters. One splitter is connected to bass processor output and other splitter is hooked up to another amp. Each amp is independently powered and grounded and connected to one sub. But one of my sub is not getting enough power and sounds muffled while other seems to have gained power and sound great. What do I need to try

nice video. Question for ya. I have only 2 rca outputs from my head unit. I need to wire up to a 4 channel and a mono.
Correct me if im wrong! I will wire the 4 channel up with one of the outputs from the headunit via splitters. and then i can use my remaing headunit output straight to my mono amp.
    Thanks!

  • @casperskafs

Make sure your amp is set to LOW PASS first. Your rca's should be coming from your sub output on your headunit. Your other rca outputs on your headunit are for mids and tweets so it won't give you as much bass I don't think

Surely in a Y splinter system you're lowering the Amperage not the voltage. Therefore you'll have less current going to each amplifier meaning you're only amplifying half of each signal. Wouldn't that make it the same overall volume regardless of how many amps you have?

Hey bro..When I was a teenager, I hooked up many sterio's & did a few competition's! anywho, my head unit (TACADO 2din android 6 cd/4G wifi 6.2 screen) ($188-189 on ebay) only has 1 subwoofer output.1 little old yellow Rca sub output.also it has fr, fl, rr, rl rca outputs.so do I connect 2 either the front or rear rca's? I want to use the sub rca but, there's only 1, not 2 (left & right) so, do I use a splitter or use the front or rear rca? output? I plan on getting a high amp alternator, 10 farrod cap, & 2 dry cell batteries so I can run a C.A.B 1600.1 tho,iv thought about amplifying my front & rear mid speakers AFTER I GET MY BEATS DONE ($?) ALL IN GOOD TIME! ANYWHO, WHAT DO U THINK???? I had to buy a splitter huh??? I'm so far n2 this car (3x it's value) ugh..I haft a make it NICE & SLAMMMMM!!!!!!!

Would you mind explaining to me how to run my rcas from my hu to my 4 ch amp? I want to run my fronts with ch 1 and 2, and bridge 3 and 4 for my sub. My amp is bridgable, and has crossovers etc, but it does not have a 3ch mode. It does have a "clone 3 and 4" switch though. My hu has two sub outputs, so do I run rcas from both sub outs into the 3,4 ins on the amp? also, I will be running my backs off the hu, so those I just hook up to the wiring harness/do a straight swap out right?

A alternative to using y splitters is to just cut the other ends off of 2 rca cables and solder the 2 rca cables to one rca cable plug so that you have a rca cable with one rca cable plug on the other end and 2 rca cable plugs on the other end that simple you can actually make your own y splitters out of some old rca cables that you might possibly have hanging around the house and this could save you the money on having to buy actual y splitters because y splitters are optional you don't really need them when you can make a y splitter out of 2 rca cables

@Belyea09 You might be tryin to get to much power from that amp. Try things using maybe just one sub. If you can get that one sub to work then you can start hookin up more. If you have ALL 4 channels bridged you might be trying to get like 1/2 ohm outta that amp which will totally not work. You need a better amp bro. A mono block class d amp

Hmm maybe. I've ran rca's out of Headunit into a PAC - 1 bassknob and ran to multiple amps like that

  • @casperskafs
    @casperskafs  11 років тому

Yes you use Y splitters. Use a mono amp for subs or a 2 channel
