In our Bassist, we trust
I love that about Pantera, the leads sound so badass with no rhythm guitar underneath
Fun fact, Rex used to record his bass tracks *after* Dime recorded the rhythm tracks so that he could lock in with the guitar. It’s pretty unconventional but it ended up making Pantera sound super tight
I think that Metallica's bassist and not only are going this way.
@@mgolec if English isn’t your first language I get it, but I have no idea what you said
@@Daily_Bassist I wanted to say that Rob recorded his tracks after guitars and drums.
not all the time
Cliff did it in Metallica (for the songs he isn't credited for), basing himself off James's guitar track
I feel like in the Domination example, the end shredding part is more of a flourish and the riff is the main part. If you get what I mean.
Pretty bold move to not have rythm guitars during solos tho, even if they did do it that way too. Gives the solo part a whole other vibe.
Credit to them though for still pulling it off live and it not sounding "hollow" without the extra layer of guitar.
PANTERA самая крутая группа! На вечные времена!❤
he's such an underrated bassist
Bad azz Riffs, killer bass lines, Drums like a brick wall and SUCH POWER in a Frontman may never be seen again.
FOREVER STRONGER THAN ALL
Hope you're keeping well, Andriy.
There are video interviews on UA-cam where Dime himself says they’re paying homage to Van Halen when Dime solos over the bass guitar. Eddie was the only guitarist in VH and they recorded that way on many songs as well.
If anybody who sees this can think of an example I'd be grateful if you could post a video link here! Thanks.

Thanks Luke! I actually meant the Dimebag interview, but that's some good knowledge!
In Bass we trust
Cool. I really enjoyed the hell out of your Metalligeek content. I'm glad to see you're still at it. Subbing right now.
I don't listen to much Pantera myself but this is something I noticed while listening to Walk and I thought it was cool as hell
Love all the metal bands but no one has went as hard and as tight as these guys it was a New Level !!
Rex is so underrated
Cool. Never noticed that even though it's pretty easy to notice.
Hope all is well brother.
Some of my favorite Rex basslines are all accompanying Dime's solos such as Walk, New Level or Yesterday Don't Mean Shit. Those walking basslines really help add contrast and make the solos stand out more.
I find it is more a question of style, composition of polyphonic harmony and searching for a desired final result than any attempt to camouflage... well, I don't guess what you say they are really trying to hide... Greetings 🎸🎵🎶
If Rex is your bassist, I hope you trust his bas skills!!!
Yeah
PANTERA🤘🤘🤘
Yes, it's weird to play alone on bass under solo. I used to play like that when we had one guitarist. What's even weirder, when we found another guitarist and played walk the rhythm guitarist looked odd during solos.
Thank for this fact Borat!
We don't have a bassist currently😭
A lot of things
I read somewhere that Phil thought about playing guitar in the band but found it difficult to play and sing simultaneously so he quit. anyone knows if it's true? Greetings from Évora, Portugal.
RIP Abbott bros 🤘
The Art Of Sredding
FUCK YA!!!! Then ran circles
What Pantera did that Metallica didn't? Pantera never sold out.
Says the guy who would rather be homeless and remain underground, than rich and famous
@@Miist3rDuce1 Pantera was homeless and underground? They were on the top of the charts. Selling out means changing your sound to match current trends in order to sell more, which is unnecessary and Pantera proved it their whole career.
would prefer if metallica played the rhythm part and only played the main melody in harmonized sections live, ex. master of puppets interlude, kinda like putting up paintings in a house with no walls
Metallica should've replaced Lars
No they shouldn't, dummy, Lars is the drummer and it's his band, rather you like it or not
the likes were at 333, but i had to like it. sorry
Listening to Metallica is like getting punched in the mouth. Listening to Pantera is like getting hit in the head with a sack of door knobs and then getting curb stomped after you go down. Which is a good thing.
But...Metallica has 2 guitars...both Hetfield. LoL

Something pantera did that metallica didn't was pantera didn't write shitty pop rock songs.
Yeah
