Yea man when Dim died I knew Vinny’s time on earth would be more limited 😒 they were just inseparable. So sad cause I really think they’d still be recording
I met Vinnie in 2017 when I was at my favorite little outdoor tiki bar in the middle of a sunny afternoon. A group of guys came in and sat along the bar and I look next to me and I thought to myself, wow this guy is really going for the Vinnie Paul look. Then I see the rest of the guys and they look kinda rock n roll too. I looked it up on my phone and realized Hell Yeah was playing that night. So I ended up having crab legs with Vinnie Paul and Hell Yeah that day. And if anyone is wondering if he was really as nice as he seemed in interviews, the answer is hell yeah. Before they left I told Vinnie “I just want you to know, back in the day all I was listening to was hip hop and then I heard Pantera and it changed everything.” He was like man that’s one of the coolest things a fan has ever said to me. RIP Abbott brothers.
Pantera single handedly bridged the gap of the metal scene from the 80’s to the new millennium, absolutely historic band. There will never be another, one of a kind band
I got to see Pantera 7 times from ‘94 to the early ‘00s and I even got kicked in the head by Anselmo trying to get over the security mote onto the stage. It was epic, I was 15 years old. Vulgar shaped my young metal mind.
I'm old enough to remember when Vinnie and Dimebag were trying to get Phil to shit or get off of the pot, concerning the fate of Pantera. Phil, not liking how he was being asked to rejoin the group, made the statement in a magazine about how Dimebag needed to be severely beaten. Then a couple weeks later, some lunatic took that to heart and then went one step further by stepping on to the stage Damageplan was playing on a shot Dimebag Darrel to death.
@@aaronburratwood.6957that’s awesome. I saw Danzig and White Zombie at Irvine Meadows in the early 90’s . Glen was punching people in the head for the same thing. They recorded deamonsweat live.
Born & raised here in Fort Worth Texas I was lucky enough to know Pantera before they hit it big. I was a waitress for a bit back in the late 80's early 90's @ a bar where they first got their start called Joe's Garage (Dime went by Diamond Darrell back then)..They all had spandex on & big hair for a little while & Dime was tiny af! Lol. They were untouchable but grounded. They never sold out or changed their music in any way shape or form for the masses. They stayed true to themselves, their music, their roots & their legions of devoted fans till the end. The Abbott brothers are irreplaceable & the void they left will forever be there cause their shoes will never be filled. I pray that they will forever Rock & Rest in Peace side by side
@@O-es2zn it took a healthy level of anger to finally shake free from some that were taking advantage at that point in my life. Not all anger is bad...
Just saw these guys open for Metallica in LA. Pantera will never be what it was with Dime and Vinnie, but Zakk and Charlie did serious justice for the brothers. You couldn't ask for two better fill-ins for a special reunion. They were incredible.
We all know that Pantera would not be the same without Dimebag Darrell and Vinie Paul (Abbott Brothers), we won’t forget them. Rest In Peace to the Abbott Brothers, thank you for performing with Pantera throughout the years, Zakk and Charlie still got your back fill-ins with Pantera 😔🙏🕊
I had the IMMENSE pleasure of seeing Pantera smoke one of those huge bands at Glasgow Barrowlands, namely Megadeth. They SHREDDED the place that night and to be fair Megadeth stepped up that night too, it was an all round amazing night. Scotland definitely did NOT hate Pantera, I think they were as stunned by their reception as we were by them. Phil told us that night that they were totally blown away that we were the best crowd they'd ever seen, which most bands say to every crowd every night of course, but Phil fuckin MEANT it. I think it was late Nov 92 and they told us "We WILLbe back here guys and it WILL be soon!" Well, within a month they announced their own headline show in Glasgow in early Feb 93. Amazingly they were even BETTER second time round.
I saw Pantera live with Megadeth and Skid Row at Alpine Valley WI. I never saw or have ever seen again the energy Pantera brought at that concert. Those of you that were there know what I am talking about!! FUCKING EPIC!!!!! I was blown away!!! Forever etched in my mind. Blessed to have that experience. It’s how music is supposed to be played
I agree wholeheartedly with Phil. It would have been an absolute nightmare for even the most experienced and reputable bands to take the stage after Pantera in their prime. They were relatively unknown during the show in Moscow, but it’s one of the most intense and incredible performance I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t there, so thank god it was recorded. I could never get tired of watching that set. It makes me feel like I could slam my head through a cinderblock wall.
Yeah I’ve actually heard that in interviews over the years from a few different bands back then, where the promotion company had whoever lined up to play “after Pantera” and even the guys in those bands were like No! We obviously want the gig at this show … BUT you absolutely have to change this lineup !! You Don’t Ever play After Pantera! No band will ever match that intensity! 😮 it is impossible! I know I’ve seen it for myself back in 1994 Far Beyond Driven tour. That footage from Moscow is all the proof anyone needs if they didn’t get to see Pantera live for themselves! That show is straight up Awesome 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 I agree with that 100% !
Even Newsted said they destroyed everyone there as an 11am slot as an unknown. That moscow performance of theirs was one of the most iconic moments in metal. Saw them with skid row 6 months later and that is still the best concert I have ever seen
I get a warm feeling in my being when I see these guys and think of this band and those 15 or so years they ruled. Never will there be a powerhouse like Pantera.
Im 19 turn 20 in few months but i think for a Young man, pantera is the band of my life, i can relate much with the lyrics i think this band is in my destine i wish more young guys could listen to real music that the lyrics help you everyday have strength and confidence on yourself, you dont find music like that anymore, only the mainstream bullsht (im brazilian, sorry for my bad english)
I’m 43 and it’s so cool seeing someone your age discover them. This just proves that Pantera is a timeless band and would deliver just as much impact if they blew up today.
Pantera stayed at my house during the recording of this record. We played darts, talke about our mutual love for gummi bears, and had many early morning fights. One day I woke up to relaise that they had left; and all that remained was 'Rex Rocker' spray painted on my wall. Classic Rex.
The 5 of us should be friends😂 I was gonna come on here & write what y’all wrote but u beat me to it! Love BEAVIS n butthead & of course PANTERA! “Let’s move closer to the TV!” “Now it’s hurting my eyes & my ears!” Much respect guys 🫡
I’m 21 and honestly heavy metal for me is the epitome of music, the amount of work that goes in these albums not just from pantera, but Metallica, megadeth, slayer etc… sometimes I feel like I’m the only person my age that actually dives really deep into the genre, I know I’m not but sometimes it feels like that, I find my myself liking every type of metal genre, I don’t discriminate with any type of genre, whether it’s punk, metalcore, heavy metal, death metal, thrash I love every genre
IDGAF what anyone says I love Nu Metal the most and it doesn't make you or anyone else "more metal" than me because I prefer nu metal over thrash or metalcore. Nu Metal is heavy as balls and the riffs and the tunings are some of the heaviest in metal history. Hell, even Slayer, Metallica, and many other heavy bands were inspired by that genre at one point. Nu Metal is easily the most important metal genre of all time AFTER thrash metal!
Bro you are like absolute surface level still lol I’m 25 and had that whole phase of music when I was like 16 and now I’m itching for underground music
@@LeadMe2TheBlissI’d probably have a similar opinion if there had been more guitar soloing in the genre. But, that’s just me. The art of the guitar solo is my single favorite aspect of heavy metal music, with punishing riffs being a close second.
@@LeadMe2TheBliss the way I look at it is this, every genre of every type of metal has its unique and good music just like everything else, what I like to do is deep dive into all the genres so I find what I like best and add it on my playlist like that I have every type of genre on my playlist and not just heavy metal for example. I think your able to relate to more people if your more open to listening to what they like to listen too so like that when they bring up a band u know who they are talking about or at least know the kinda vibe there into , but yea Ive never considered myself more metal than somebody who likes punk or nu metal
4:51 My dad told me once about the time he went and saw Pantera at a festival (in Britain) and they finished their session with "This Love" and the crowd went NUTS. Long story short, Extreme went on after them and played "More than words" and everyone started starting cursing him and booing him. Makes me smile to this day, I'd do anything to even just be alive in the Pantera era. Rest in peace Vince and Dime ❤
Well, time to blast this album so my neighbors will listen to some kickass music! Pantera helped me get through the most difficult times in my life! Still to this day I jam it up! Getcha Pull! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
PanterA has always been my favorite band ever since i heard CFH at 13 yo that my older cousin was into being a extremely good guitarist. He taught me how to play guitar showed me the tricks of the trade and i was playing domination solos at 15. Those grooves are in my blood and come out when i jam now. Seen PanterA six times here in Seattle and followed them to Spokane on my jet bike CBR 1100 doing 150+ 500 miles through the desert on the FAR BEYOND DRUNK tour. Dimebag threw a pick to me in the pit and fought three other fans for it. When i got home it said FAR BEYOND DRUNK TOUR on the pick still have it. Great times.
So glad i was born at the right time to be a teenager when Pantera broke out and was able to grow up with them... seen them open for Skid Row in early 92 (which i went to strictly to see Pantera) and 8 times after that (including a month ago on the new tour), got to meet them at a record signing for FBD and theyve had a gigantic role in my life ever since... 🤘
I didn't get to see them live until 1999, and I was already a fan but seeing them live was a life changer for me! I took my 2 sons to see the current Pantera 2.0 and was still happy to see the music played live for the newer generation. Only thing that kinda bummed me out was the lack of violent ass pits hahaha!
@@BigDemz I was just at a concert a couple days ago trying to explain to a friend of mine 10 years younger than i am how the pits at Pantera used to be... shows will probably never be like that again... we used to make sure we carried NOTHING with us to see Pantera because you would come out of those shows in just your shorts, maybe one shoe if you were lucky... those were the days, man...
Fucking A bro! The only thing I've seen even remotely close to old school pits were at a Slaughter to Prevail show I took my oldest son to. It was pretty brutal!@@27retrodaze
Vulgar display of power was the album I had been searching for years for and didn’t know it, till I heard it the first time! It was the heaviest thing I had ever heard but still had this underlying groove that Vinnie and Rex threw underneath that just bridged that gap for me that no other band had even com close to at that point and rekindled my love for heavy music. As a drummer vinnie showed me you could be heavy as fuck and still play with feel and groove, one of the most influential and important albums of my life and one of the most important album for heavy music at that point as well. Thank god for Pantera!
I was there for all of it, and it was FUCKING EPIC!!! Best metal band EVER. It's so cool seeing kids today wearing Pantera tshirts... That's a statement about the power of a band.. when it transcends time... And their stuff still sounds fresh... That is something that only a few bands can do... Zeppelin, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, early Metallica... That's a pretty elite club to be in. R.I.P. Vin and Dime.
Had the privilege and honor of seeing these guys on this tour, in November of 1992, at the Wilson theater in Fresno, California. Only my second concert ever by that point, just behind Metallica, but probably one of my top 3 concerts ever attended. Like other comments on this log, Pantera was the band of the times, during my adolescent to my young adult years, and they truly were one of a kind. I feel truly blessed to have lived through the 90s while experiencing this group's timeless contribution to the metal scene and the culture, in general. This is still my favorite Pantera album, along with Great Southern Trendkill, and definitely deserves its glory and recognition, as possibly one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
The first song I heard from PanterA was “Fucking Hostile” extremely loud in a car. Instantly became a fan for life. I couldn’t believe how every song from Vulgar Display was just as awesome 🤘🏻 I still get goosebumps today listening to the album 👊🏻
At the time I never realised how special it was to grow up through my 20's in the DFW area. Seeing pantera out at Joe's garage, or even places as small as hotel hell which was just a gutted house with a bar in the back. I remember pantera coming on stage with their pyrotechnics in such a small space. I was sitting in the back and you could see the flames rolling across the ceiling towards me. It sucked all the oxygen out of the room so fast that people started falling out. Then they opened the side doors and let the air in. The yell from the croud was something totally different than normal. Saw them at Joe's Garage and a guy broke his arm in the pit. They tried to call him a ambulance but he said no way. So they backed a pick up truck to the back door and he sat in the back and finished watching the show. Sooo many memories...!!
Phil hasn’t aged since ‘92. That aside - Vulgar Display of Power was, and still is, one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Mouth for War and This Love are amazing.
I met phil and rex down in chile in 98 at their hotel. Some of the nicest dudes you could meet and took their time to greet their fans that were all there! That same day my mom met dimebag and vinnie at one of the golf clubs! She recognized them through all the pantera posters i had in my room
Saw them in 94- Far Beyond Driven tour , Vancouver BC , Canada 🇨🇦, with Prong and Sepultura- Chaos A.D. tour. I bought the heatbag Pantera concert shirt with the huge pot leaf and rusty PanterA logo. I actually got to meet Vinnie in 2012 on his promo tour for his new signature DW Drums snare drum and have him autograph that shirt and the Damage Plan CD and cover … 18 years later! 😄 man Vin was such an amazing drummer and awesome to meet in person as well , really funny, friendly and cool. He was super happy to see and sign that old shirt from 1994 in 2012 ! 😊 R.I.P. Dime and. Vinnie , You will Never be Forgotten !!! Thank You Both ! For all the incredible music and memories! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻I’m 52 now 😄
You just named my 3 favorite guitarist. I started listening to metal when I was just 2 1/2. My Aunt turned me onto it. I was born the same year as Dime. When I was 5 my Mom told me she was taking me to National Record Mart to pick out my first album. I chose Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Van Halen was the next band I was blown away by and I loved. Diary of a madman and of course Randy Rhoads. I found a guitar in my Grandparents basement and my Mom took me to guitar lessons. No other band blew me away until Pantera. I've still yet to find a better band to this day. I don't think anyone can top them. I highly doubt I will see it in my lifetime.
No bro, Dime was absolutely amazing. So much better than rr and evh. He was a one of a kind, we are very lucky to be able to watch and listen to what he created.
@@traceyrychewhite1874 the charisma of a person makes the difference. Just like us Dime was a fan of music, being a fan and a player he went naturally way above and beyond everyone else before he had finished his teenage years. I hate the fact he isn't with us, I hate the fact of the way he was taken. Being a magical, humorous, decent, generous person, who the f would even let that cross their mind. That guy should not have been in society as he was known to be able to do what a marine was meant, but he was too good at one action and had no mentality to be able to live a general life. For a person to do what he had done must have been incredibly angry, easily triggered or paid off. Listen to Dime daily, it keeps perspective of knowing there are good people on the planet..
YO i just wanna say phil that you KILLED it in norway on the tons of rock festival. I was suprised , you were easily the best band out of every band that was there the 3 days. Wasnt even close!
Saw them for the 1st time on the CFH tour open up for Suicidal and Exodus in Chicago at the Riviera. It was a game changer bc Dime never stopped smiling and having fun. That left a mark on me that no matter what you do enjoy what you do. The Abbott Brothers enjoyed what they did for sure and they are missed by millions. Every day. We are thankful for our time with them.
Glad I got to see Pantera live back in 1994 with Sepultura and Biohazard opening. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to. I remember my impression was that they sounded even better live than on they did on record.
I have issues with Anselmo these days, but back in March or April of 1992 (it was near the end of the my senior year in high school) going into Peaches Music and they were playing that album. My ears perked right up and I asked the cashier "What in the world is that?" "Ummm... New Pantera." was her response. I had heard Cemetery Gates before and really liked it but nothing could have prepared me for what I was hearing that day. The CD was sold out and they only had cassettes and I bought one right then and there. Eventually picked up the CD a few weeks later when I wore the tape out. People compare it to Reign in Blood but it's so much more than that. I was never that blown away by Reign to be honest with you. The first and the last tracks are great but that's about it. (I'm actually one of the rare few people to think South of Heaven is better album) Everything on Guitar killed. The production, THAT guitar sound, the vocals, the grooves, the riffs, everything. That spring & summer saw new releases from Megadeth, Testament, Iron Maiden, Exodus , Warrior Soul, Black Sabbath (Dehumanizer which is still my favorite Black Sabbath album) but Vulgar buried all of them.
Loved Pantera since I was very young back in the 90s, and they´re one of the few bands in my opinion that haven´t made a single bad song. Very rare for a band to be able to do that. (CFH and up)
Saw Pantera a few times. Listened to this Album an infinite number of times when I was in High School(1990-1993). They played walk at the Lakeshore Ampitheatre in Atlanta Georgia. I swear the crowd almost brought the covered part of the amphitheater down singing RE-SPECT-WALK-
Damn I just saw phil live last night with pantera I couldn’t believe how good he sounds I’m a DIE HARD phil and pantera fan and I was shocked how tight they were and his voice
I was 20 yrs. old n it changed my life, much like the discovery of metal when I was 14. Metal saved my life, I was sooo angry, full of angst n babybatter. It was so incredibly liberating I wept wth gratitude to know I wasn't alone and bein' a percussionist n all around musician, Darryl's riffs and Phil's effortless metal voice ( although asea at times) was incredible. Thank u Pantera, for saving metal and me!!! If your wonderin' slipknot did the exact same thing y'all did. I AM a maggot!!! I bleed Slaughtered, and all the rest!!!!
I’m pretty sure that when I 1st heard this album on a cassette in my car.. I through a cheesy heavy metal tape out of my car window. I was into pantera and Seattle sounds. My whole outlook was.. I found my new joy in music. Thanks Pantera! 90s forever
I don't even remember how or why I bought the Vulger CD, but I'll never forget getting home and putting it on and as soon as Mouth For War kicked in, I was immediately hooked and so blown away by the production. I played it nonstop for months and saw them on that tour in Toronto with Sacred Reich opening. I never head banged at concerts, but that one I couldn't help it. It was mandatory. Pantera ruled the world.
I love these watchint these stories, as being born 97 missed out on the party😂. Pantera are one of a kind. I'll never forget being 10 years old in eastern europe and my dad bringing a Pantera collection CD and a Sepultura best of CD. Old man comes in crazy excited and was like "Wanna hear the best music ever?" And we jammed for hours as he was explaining who was who, who was playing guitar, singing and so on... good fkn times.Never stopped listening after that, this music get you through both some tough moments and the best moments in life. Even ordered a damn guitar last week😂 🤘🤘🤘
Hendrix Iomi Eddie Van Halen SRV Dime Hendrix was probably the biggest shift in history, as people couldn't understand how a guitar could make those kinds of sounds. Eddie was similar years later.
Phil, Rex, Zakk &co, you guys changed my life growing up as a young aspiring musician, a d I want to send my deepest condolences for the loss of the two legends Dime and Vinnie Paul....I can only begin to imagine the sadness you carry in your hearts for losing your brothers in metallic arms...Phil as far as I'm concerned you will always be the toughest frontman metal has ever seen, no matter how tough life may get remind yourself you can man and you changed the face of metal with your powerful voice that is indeed a Vulgar Display Of Power, and Dime did things that were impossible to do on his axe Eva will continue to inspire future generations of guitarists abr may his name and memory live in forever! I'm a metal guitarist myself of 30 years and still go hard and strong but I pale in the shade to Dimes absolute metal genius...Rex, you are worthy of a mention too for your powerful bottom end that worked perfectly with Vinnie to create powerful groove and insane rhythm section for dime to shine doing what he did best!! I vote the surviving members of Pantera be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame for your input and influence into metal which changed the essence of music for so many people still to.thiw day...may your lives be long and prosperous Phil and Rex, and may the memories of those you have lost be remembered as two of the best metalheads whoever lived!! Vulgar is still on high rotation in my playlist, and Hollow is my favourite off the album, even though there are so many golden masterpieces on it, mainly because the theme hits that spot in my heart that laments with Phil's lyrics and the way Dime wails the whole way through it with technical precision and speed, a classic of the ages from one of the best mwtal album of all time...well done boys!! Micky Jay Thefuck from Melbourne... Peace and power to you all!!
Bought the album on cassette when it was released. Definitely one of the greatest metal records of all time. Lost count of the amount of times I got whiplash head banging 🤘
Last time I saw Pantera was 7-13-96. It was the night Phil OD'd after the show. I believe White Zombie opened. The reason I remember so well, It was my 20th birthday.
I saw them on that tour, but it was later on when they had Biohazard and Neurosis opening. To this day, Neurosis is probably the best band I've ever seen live.
Pantra is music that is not hampered by language and cultural barriers and goes straight to the heart. Thank you for that crazy autumn day of 1991 filled with drunken joy and freedom. You guys have no idea how you changed the minds and inspired millions of Russian teenagers. 30 years old Vulgar Display of Power is still on repeat in headphones and is still tough as fuck from the first to the last track and has not aged a day just like you Phil. Respect for your walk
I’m 42. Vulgar Display of Power was the very first compact disc I purchased after I got my new sony CD player. I love the album as much today as when I was 11. Seen Pantera, Down, Rebel to Rebel, Superjoint Ritual many times live.
Sophomore in college, 1994. Had been looking for something in music different and a friend played Vulgar Display of Power on a long road trip. It was perfect. Then when Far Beyond Driven came out and it was turned up another notch! Great stuff.
Im 60 and bought every pantera album the day they were released.never thought i would love another band as much as slayer!!!So glad Phil is healthy and still with us...true warrior!!!
I saw Pantera at Prince's favorite small venue (1st. Avenue) in Minneapolis back in the early 90's. I didn't know who they were, and it was one of the best shows I have ever experienced. They came back with White Zombie a few years later to a bigger venue, and that was my favorite concert experience of all time. They put on a pretty good show. Thanks for the memories.
I saw that tour with Zombie. Deftones opened. I have heard some folks online caught shows with Eyehategod as the opener, either way it was an AMAZING show. Phil did the " We are the new kings of metal!!" Speech. No one in the crowd was disagreeing.
This band helped shape my adolescence for sure. Lucky I got to see them during vulgar display twice and both times caught picks from Dime bag RIP 🙏Love this band, tragedy and empowerment all in one. 💯👊🤘🤘
Huge influence on me as a young guy playing metal music. Still and will forever have my Washburn Dimebag Darrell signature series guitar I bought at 14. Best show I saw them at was when they toured with Sepultura. CRAZIEST pit I've ever been in.
You cannot over state how important this album was. It changed everything. I saw Mouth for War on Headbanger's Ball and my jaw dropped- it was every bit as sonically impressive as Master of Puppets, Welcome to the Jungle or Smells like Teen Spirit. Shit that changed the rules and raised the fuckin stakes.
Pantera were gods in the scene. An absolute powerhouse, visionaries. And I know people talk shit about skid row’s playing after pantera on their tour (Phil mentions about bands they opened for), but Sebastian Bach was best friends with everyone in Pantera and they loved eachother. That’s a show I would’ve absolutely wanted to see. Bas knew them since they were underground.
Each album brings a different style and whatever your mood is that day depends on which album you listen to. Listened to TGST today so I'm feeling pretty volatile.
I met Vinnie at the first Uproar tour. He was one of those people who passed his happiness on to people he interacted with, especially for empaths. He was genuine. He gave every hung, handshake, and autograph, and was so glad to do so. I hope he and Dime are looking down and glad that Phil and Rex are continuing the name and legacy. I wished it had happened with the Abbott boys still with us
I have very fond nostalgic memories of listening to this album on cassette on boombox in my room ! Back then I knew a few metal bands and me and my mam would go grocery shopping every Saturday and she would let me buy a video or a cassette and sometimes you would buy albums or horror movie blind just off the back of the art work ! And even as a kid I just knew an album in the metal section with cover like that could not fail ! I think I listened to it for about 6 months straight !!!! I’m 45 now and still have that tape and it has never dissipated me once !!!
Heard Pantera back in the day and still keep on listening to their stuff. These guys made history. Truly a shame that they couldn't stay together. Good luck to Phil, hope he can bury the demons from the past and continue making amazing music like he did.
I remember Dimebag we saw Damage plan with Arch Enemy and Chimaria at the house of blues very small venue which kicked ass because you were right up front. And Dime was pouring shots of Jager Meister down fans throats while doing a guitar solo. Fucking awesome!
Pantera not only reinvented metal, but single handedly carries the torch through the 90s for for pure metal mayhem in the mainstream eye. Phil, Dime, Vinnie and Rex fucking DOMINATED the scene. So under appreciated by the critics andf music historians. They, Metallica and Nirvana defined what heavy music in the mainstream was gonna be moving into the 90s.
My big brother was a huge Pantera fan, He had the CFH tattooed in a old english like script on the left side of his head right above his ear. Sadly he died in a car accident on his 21st birthday in 1997. I was at school when i found out and i just remember losing it, it was one of the hardest days of my life.
Pantera, Vulgar Display of Power hit like no other! This album got many of us through some shit and still continues to do so. Thanks to Pantera, y'all are a special breed!
Agree wholeheartedly, but, always glad I never got By Demon's be Driven in scroll across my stomach after that album became one of my all-time favourites lol

@@dmgcaster904 No need to bring that up anymore. It's a horrible thing that happened and I'm quite sure most people know about that situation.
Vulgar is their best album in my opinion, and still one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time.

Yep! An awesome album in the elite of the elite albums. Damn! Vulgar was so kickass impressive🤘🏴☠️
I kinda feel like it's sacrilege to call them Pantera without the Abbott bros, but I bet it was an incredible show!
That was a tribute not a reunion. There’s only 1 original member on that stage.
@@presmasterflash7555Kiss has 2 original members,lol
@@presmasterflash7555 Pantera would not be Pantera without Phil. Terry Glaze didn't have what it took to elevate the band to goat level status.
HEADBUTT SOME BROKEN GLASS!
I mean, they blew white zombie away in 95 when I saw them. And they had none of the special effects or anything that zombie used
Even Newsted said they destroyed everyone there as an 11am slot as an unknown. That moscow performance of theirs was one of the most iconic moments in metal. Saw them with skid row 6 months later and that is still the best concert I have ever seen
That breakdown off Domination caused the collapsed of the Soviet Union!!

I had the same experience
In what way was it important ?
Pantera stayed at my house during the recording of this record. We played darts, talke about our mutual love for gummi bears, and had many early morning fights. One day I woke up to relaise that they had left; and all that remained was 'Rex Rocker' spray painted on my wall. Classic Rex.
Damnit Pantera, this beer is warm.

Pantera is a mid tier
💪💪💪💪💪💪💪

Long story short, Extreme went on after them and played "More than words" and everyone started starting cursing him and booing him. Makes me smile to this day, I'd do anything to even just be alive in the Pantera era. Rest in peace Vince and Dime ❤
I still have scars from Pantera concerts. I love that band.
I saw the skid row show in dallas. PANTERA killed it! They dressed like Kiss and played Cold Gin with Skid.

Rex is a beast! Far Beyond is my favorite bass album
That was the first recording where Rex played a Spector NS bass.

Facts. He definitely isn't wrong.

Glad I got to see Pantera live back in 1994 with Sepultura and Biohazard opening. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to. I remember my impression was that they sounded even better live than on they did on record.
That cover is a work of art. Cool to hear the REAL story behind it.
I have issues with Anselmo these days, but back in March or April of 1992 (it was near the end of the my senior year in high school) going into Peaches Music and they were playing that album. My ears perked right up and I asked the cashier "What in the world is that?"
"Ummm...
(I'm actually one of the rare few people to think South of Heaven is better album)
Everything on Guitar killed.

The early 90's were the best time for hard metal and rock. I could listen to the same songs every single day over and over and never get tired of it.

You cannot over state how important this album was. It changed everything. I saw Mouth for War on Headbanger's Ball and my jaw dropped- it was every bit as sonically impressive as Master of Puppets, Welcome to the Jungle or Smells like Teen Spirit. Rex is probably the ONLY bassist that could both compliment his sound but still be heard & just being able to keep up with dimebag's playing speed.
Pantera were gods in the scene. An absolute powerhouse, visionaries. And I know people talk shit about skid row’s playing after pantera on their tour (Phil mentions about bands they opened for), but Sebastian Bach was best friends with everyone in Pantera and they loved eachother. I wished it had happened with the Abbott boys still with us
This needs to be longer...Man I miss the Abbott brothers 😭
So had found out that I'd been looking for Dimebag ever since Jimi passed. R.I.P. brothers Dime and Vinnie
Just saw them 3 weeks ago. Perfect tribute. I was fortunate to see Pantera many times back in the day. Greatest of all time.
“Walk” was my favorite song from Vulgar Display of Power by Pantera 😤😡💪 One of the best heavy metal albums in heavy metal history 🎸🤘
Mouth of War is the song I start with for every work out.
WOW...they litterally said the same shit about 7 mins into it lol....called it LOL
Loved this doc! Pantera totally kept metal alive in the 90's ⚡️ RIP Dime & Vinnie
Phil acting all badass and tough has always been humorous to me, as much as I dig Pantera, and I do.
I WENT TO SEE SKID ROW, PANTERA OPENED THE SHOW, PANTERA KICK THERE ASS! I WAS BLOWN AWAY
For real it was crazy I mean Pantera just totally blew them out of the water bill jumped off a stack of speakers like 20 ft high dove into the crowd I mean I never seen anything like it in my life I was like holy shit I can't believe you fucking they still played you know a few more songs after that I had no wonder you got hurt you know after all that stuff he was wild they were wild man I miss him I wish they were still around all those guys have a Brothers God bless him rest in peace
I saw the CFW and VDOP tours in Toronto.
The Band was on fire.
Saw them on the current tour also.
I thought it was really good-very respectful.
Good to see Kerry King being humble as usual.
Their sound, their look, their attitude...the hookiest riffs...one if a kind... hooked the first time i heard them
