Disney seems to be in full-on Star Wars mode, releasing a new movie every year since The Force Awakens in 2015. 2016 brought us Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that followed Jyn Erso and her crew of Rebels as they tried to steal the plans to the Death Star. But how exactly did that movie come to be? How did they settle on making a movie about a little line in the text crawl for A New Hope? What about bringing Peter Cushing back from the dead via CGI? Why does every character die in an explosion? Step inside the pitch meeting that started it all. It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

There's tons of material from as far back as the frekkin 90's that makes Darth Vader look like a pansy compared to some of the other Sith Lords. He's got NOTHING on Bane.
Then in the about the mid 2000's on he got tons of material about him post Episode 3 of him slaughtering now outlaw Jedi and rebels and others to get his badass level back up. That scene was the first time we really saw him do anything live action.

Writing an entire movie to fix a plot hole from a previous movie is dedication. I can appreciate that.

Henri Zwols except it wasn't one. they literally explain the empire was so arrogant they did not expect a small scale attack of fighters, which serves the ultimate visual and storytelling purpose of the little kid defeating the enormous evil apparatus with bravery and strong belief in himself and the good in the universe. it completely undermines what makes the OT such a magical fantasy movie. it's very sad to see, that no one gets this. neither the brainless millenials, nor the corporate trash generator aka disney.

Would be good if the hadn't created hundreds more in the process. Dookley did a better job of covering the plot hole years before. I put the exhaust port there because we needed to vent exhaust. Physics would have kept the torpedo from reaching the core if any normal person shot it. If I knew there were Jedi in the rebellion I could have planned for that!!!!
@@ARKAEOPTREX is right. Some people don't get mythical themes. David versus goliath. Icarus, hubris and pride in fallible technology. Humanity versus the technological military machine. Vader literally uttered the words "Do not be too proud of this technological terror you have constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of the Force". Luke LITERALLY turned off his targeting computer to make the shot, shedding technology to bring down the military machine. Turning to feelings, humanity. This is an important part of the mythic cultural/spiritual message of ANH. Having the 'flaw' as a designed-in feature by a saboteur on the design team shows a COMPLETE OBLIVIOUSNESS to the theme of ANH. Not to mention, if anybody has ever worked on a large engineering project, the idea that one man could work a fatal flaw into a giant super mega project like that is the most utterly absurd idea ever.
I laughed way too hard on the mental images of every character just spontaneously exploding the moment they served the past purpose 🤣🤣

@@WiLDCHiLD. Let's put it this way, with only the Bor Gullet effect that 100% doesnt happen and Saw dying for no reason - it's garbage, and there's plenty more things wrong with it. It's visually amazing and the CGI crew that worked on it deserved their award. Story-wise? Horrendous past belief. I'm shocked that more Star Wars fans, who routinely dissect Star Wars movies, just give this one a pass.
My favorite part was when everyone predicted Jyn Erso was Ray's mother, until they saw the movie and how everyone dies in a Micheal Bay explosion.

I loved Rouge One, I think Krenic is one of the better written villains
Is that honest or not? I'm only asking because I'd disagree, he keeps losing his temper like every villain since Disney which makes them less scary. It's way more interesting when they don't scream all the time, they're much more menacing and they seem to always be in control of the situation.
@@airstrike9002 i like krenic since although he a power-hungry antagonist but he has his own boss which shows the empire hierarchy and its dynamic which in rarely seen in a starwars movie.

@@airstrike9002 I disagree. Yeah a villain is more menacing when they don't lose their temper but a making good villain isn't all about making the most menacing villain. For example, kylo is imo a good villain because he's got real characterisation and motivation apart from just 'i like being evil'. Think about it- if you were in the star wars universe, and responsible for a big bunch of bad guys, working for people who would kill you as soon as look at you don't you think you'd be stressed? As well as having the issues that let to you going evil

Rogue One was the most 'star wars' movie we've received so far and I LOVED it. It's basically Saving Private Ryan in space, from the perspective of what it would be like without the Jedi. Wonderful execution.
Having said all that, I still found this video hilarious. 😂

S. Raetz depending on how I feel, ROTJ or Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars film.
With the one small difference that Saving Private Ryan is a quality movie with amazing story and characters, while Rogue is a contrived piece of garbage with god-awful characters and story

Rogue One is like the Infinity War to A New Hope’s Endgame. It sets the stage for the real characters’ adventure. So there was nothing unusual or dark about it. 😞 Even Revenge Of The Sisies did that.

It is, well tied with Genndy Tartakovski's Clone Wars.

Lot of lazy writing, boring characters, nothing really happening most of the movie (beside some cool actions scenes in the third act). But hey, we go to see Vader killing a bunch of people with his lightsaber.

I could've enjoyed it had the color grading not been so awful. Like Solo, the lighting is too dark and I remain baffled as to why Hollywood keeps making films look like that. Even outdoor daylight scenes are murky.

I don't think the exhaust port thing is a plot hole. Loads of people died trying to do it. Computers specifically designed to do it failed to do it. An experienced rebel pilot described it as "impossible". Even when the empire found out that's what they were trying to do they were like "HA! NO WAY will they pull that off"

Matt Simmons the real plot hole is why fly along the trench and try and shoot it at a really steep angle so the torpedo has to do a 90 degree turn. Why not just fly straight towards the port so it's opening is directly in front of you? It's clearly possible to approach the trench from above as the Falcon does it.

Right. Not a plot hole. It's totally reasonable to have a port that, if one shot goes into it blows up a multi-trillion dollar space base with thousands of people living and working there. That's totally something an engineer would do.
Plenty of things have a "fatal weak point" that can be overlooked if the chances of it happening are astronomically unlikely.
