Spoiler alert! Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Star Trek!
Before J.J. Abrams took over the world of Star Wars with The Force Awakens and the Rise of Skywalker, he revived another classic sci-fi franchise with 2009’s Star Trek, a movie so filled with lens flares it was difficult to see. But from what people could make out, it seemed pretty good!
Although the movie was a critical and financial success, it definitely raises a few questions. Like why didn’t Chris Hemsworth abandon ship if he was just setting it on a collision course? What was the point of the young Kirk scenes? How was Kirk qualified to be promoted? How did he happen to land on a remote planet and stumble upon the cave where Spock Prime was hanging out? What exactly do black holes and red matter do?!
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Star Trek!

Does anyone else find it a little scary that these two guys are responsible for almost every movie we have ever seen?
Everyday

Having two omnipotent Canadian movies gods is TIGHT!
Two? It's just one guy who's moving really fast. Classic rookie mistake

Oh my god, I never noticed that before! That's so cool.

How tf am I JUST noticing this?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
I kinda wondered how he would mention it.

I didn't understand the calendar part of the pitch meeting. What's the joke?
Nero does know the stardate he's arrived at, because the captain of the USS Kelvin tells him after coming aboard. He still waits 25 years plotting "revenge" on the people who tried to help his planet but failed, and without warning Romulus about the impending supernova. Make of that what you will.
@@TathD It's explained in the comic, Nero was imprisoned on a klingon prison planet while his damaged borg technology time-ship was in orbit slowly reparing itself making Nero's escape possible.

Very tight.
“I was born at a very young age.”
-The crew members of the Enterprise
Well, to be fair, the idea of a young Spock and Kirk is sound for the plot, just they could have given more than they did. Kirk was established as a rebel and Spock was treated as an outcast by his peers. Both have issues and personal matters that need to be solved, they are both broken and have suffered, yet they together are going to save the Galaxy many times over. I wish the plot would have given more in that area. The Older Spock was correct, the Universe needs both of them.

Plot holes are TIGHT
@Michael Freed Not eating is tight!
i think it was actually explained, he was ANGRY that his planet was blown up and so he wanted to kill the guy he thought was responsible after blowing up his planet for revenge. As far as he was concerned "it already happened" so his anger needed to be satisfied. He apparently just didnt care about saving the planet, he only cared about revenge. Honestly, im surprised they didnt just use the BS reason of "if i stop it, it will create a paradox" Literally would have solved the problem and taken about 10 seconds. Thats as long as they took to pan the camera in some scenes.
@@jessiejanson1528 Wasn't he in prison in a deleted scene?
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 no idea.
@@jessiejanson1528 the way Star Trek seems to do tome travel, it actually makes sense. Stoping Romulus blowing up wouldn't save HIS planet, it would just create a different timeline. The original timeline he's from would still exist and thus, his family and home would still be toast. He could have tried warning the new timelines Romulans, but he probably figured they wouldn't believe him or something.
So, he had the original timelines Spock who had failed and let his home blow up, so what does he do? Blows up Spock's home.
From the POV of a nut-job psycho, it actually makes perfect logical sense.

Both make sense and they work together. Because this is an alternate history of the Star Trek everyone knew, we are being introduced to a different version of Kirk. He had no father so he grows up a rambunctious little turd. We see Spock's childhood because it helps show the impact of his personal choices and his losses in the film.
They work together because the movie was embracing the duality of Kirk/Spock and seeing their troubled childhoods together fit in showing how their characters developed that led them to Star Fleet in spite of their upbringing.

Like, managing to beam Kirk onto the Enterprise despite having no idea where it was at the time.
The pretty huge time gap between Kirk regaining consciousness, running from the monster, running into Spock, having him explain everything, then going to the outpost. And yet, despite the trip to Vulcan taking only a few minutes the first time, this time the Enterprise is still on route.
That ridiculously huge room they wind up in filled with pipes and machinery which is obviously too large to fit onboard the Enterprise, going by the exterior shots we've seen.
Kirk and Spock able to just beam aboard the Narada, despite it being an incredibly advanced ship from a century in the future which apparently has no defences against that.
Also, not bringing a huge frickin' bomb with them to blow up the ship if the operation to rescue Commander Pike goes south.
