To be fair, I'm pretty sure that the thing with Harley breaking the fourth wall and interrupting narration is about her hearing voices in her head or something.
I like to think the entire movie is her telling the story - and it specifically doesn't make sense, is told out of order, and often a downright lie, just because you can't expect a person like Harley Quinn to tell a coherent, factually accurate story.

She didn't know how to speak, but she developed a way to read body language to the point that she can predict attacks. She is eventually adopted by Batman and becomes his daughter in all but blood. You can probably guess why quite a few people who are fans of her comic version didn't like this film's portrayal.

My theory about the scene where Harley uses a bean bag gun is that, she’s actually using a real shotgun, but because she’s crazy she sees the pellets as beanbags and blood as confetti

Its a cool theory, however you see them recovering near the end unless this entire event is just a fabrication. Also bean bag guns severly injure and kill. That point blank range shot qt the cop should have killed him.
They use a similar tactice in The Suicide Squad by animating the blood as flowers
The thing I like best about Harley Quinn, is that she proves that even if you know a lot about the mind you can still lose yours easily.

She was blowing away, with her skates.
She got prepared for her canary cry, so she didn't let herself get unbalanced and was able to get a boost from it, the guys was caught off guard causing them to blow away. Just my thoughts tho.

@@awriterwithissues815 yeah, she didn't stop the Canary Cry by covering her ears. But it did reduce the damage to her ears. She was fine, but as I said she was able to prepare herself physically and mentally for it, then got a boost from it.
Also look at her stance while she skates, her knees are bent down while skating, she was prepared for it, and not get knocked over.
Harley Quinn has a PHD she's still smart. She's also insane. Ofcourse she's crazy enough to let her get boosted by the Canary cry even if it'll hurt her ears.

Minor objection: Scars showing the people he killed cliche - It is literally part of the Victor Zsasz character in DC comics since his first appearance in 1992. To not include it would have been a sin

To be fair, one shouldn't have to read every DC comic to be able to know every character's backstory in the movie.
I personally love the comics, but it's unreasonable to expect all movie-goers to do homework (that's why every Batman movie includes a scene of his parents' death.)

I've noticed in the past year this channel has gotten very PC and most of us come here for a break from all the PC bullshit. This movie was soggy garbage with pink and blue stripes on it
To be fair, "Cinemawins" has an easier job, which is to be dumb and lame. I couldn't do either, though, so I respect that much.
The whole "Gotham doesn't know about the breakup unless harley tells them" thing is established as being because they're an on-again-off-again couple. They've broken up plenty of times before and she keeps going back, that's why, even if people know they aren't together right now, they might be next week, or even later that night, and it's not worth the risk.
Plus the joker has successfully gotten off murder charges by pleading insanity multiple times. If you wanted to be realistic, you'd probably also have to consider that people are likely aware that he wouldn't even remember that they'd broken up, because of all the crippling insanity.

Let me explain in the comics Cassandra Cain is 1 of the most experienced fighters capable of going toe to toe with Batman and possibly winning yet this pathetic excuse of a movie made her that random Asian chick over there I don't even know what they were basing this off of
The movie itself isn't bad. I don't like that such a great character like Cass is relegated to "kid sidekick", and it robbed Ella Jay Basco of a much better interpretation.
That being said, I don't hate this movie's version nearly as much as I do the retcon in the comics from 2016.

Well maybe it's not that extreme like in Birds of Prey, but now and then in Spanish prison a 20 year old thief has to share a cell with a 50 year old murderer. Isn't common, but stuff like that can happen.
Honestly, Birds of Prey may just be my favorite DCEU film (not the best but favorite) because of how relentlessly fun it is while having a terrific cast. Wish that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was given more roles and screentime though.

To me, the biggest sin in this film was Kassandra Kain. I mean, they took a totally badass character who was introduced during the No Man's Land story, was raised by one of the worlds deadliest mercenaries to treat violence as an actual language, singlehandedly helped protect Gotham from MULTIPLE gangs, was endorsed by Batman to be the new Batgirl (which she totally ROCKED!)...and in this movie we are now given a chubby teenage pickpocket who can't do anything to save her own ass!?

9:30 That was actually the point. In the comics Joker was the one who noticed that Harleen Quinzel sounds like Harlequin, a name for jesters in pantomimes. Later on, when Harley goes to break Joker out of jail, she calls herself his “Harley Quinn”, effectively a play on a play on words.

Black Canary has had a sonic scream that could knock Superman on his ass since the 70s. Sinning this movie for her using it is like sinning a Green Lantern movie for him being able to use the ring to fly.

@@kevinth1360 It's a nice way to view it, I was thinking exactly that when I was watching, but if it's true all the other gunshot in the film, or at least in the sequence, must be chewing gum and fireworks. I think the production was just afraid of showing innocent cops killed by a character that some kids could relate to.(sorry for the grammar and spelling, I'm not from a country that speaks English)

-she's a pickpocketer instead of one of the top 5 martial artists in DC history (above batman I may add)
-she's the daughter the usual horrible parents in this movie and not the daughter of two of the world's greatest assassins.
-she doesn't solo black mask's entire army with just her bare hands (granted if she did then the movie would be over in 30 minutes)
-she's not batgirl or any of her other vigilante personas in this movie
I feel like they just slapped Cassandra's name on this character to hype up the movie which was a bad idea since unfortunately Cass isn't one of the more popular batgirls despite her level of bad ass

Wanna hear somethine really stupid? I have a 37mm launcher. Completely legal. It's also completely legal to buy 37mm bean bag rounds. However, it's a felony to have them both together unless the launcher is tax stamped and registered.
But a 12 gauge shotgun with beanbag rounds? Hey, no problem!
And there are probably beanbags available for M79s (40mm) as well, since some PDs use them for tear gas, or at least they did before the 37mms came into wide use since they don't have the same paperwork requirements.

@@MrQwertysystem on it's own, the 37mm isn't considered a firearm. It's more like a big flare gun. You can order them through the mail and everything. BUT, if you have a 37mm AND anti-personnel rounds, THEN the ATF considers it a Destructive Device and you have to register it and get a tax stamp. There are legal rounds that are basically fireworks, signal flares, and smoke bombs that are okay to possess, but anything intended to use against people (even less-lethal like beanbags or batons) are illegal unless the launcher is registered.

i honestly was so disappointed in this movie i thought it would be more of their story as Birds of Prey but noooope
The biggest issue with this movie was that Barbara Gordon was not in it at all and they mistakenly missed the opportunity to include representation of disabled women (in this case a badass wheelchair using superhero) and focused too much on Harley Quinn.

I think it suffers from the same affliction some other movies have these days: too focused on the PC stuff and not enough on the actual story. I don't mind the PC stuff but they also need to actually write a good story and everything. This movie just feel kinda hamfisted to be honest.
I was hyped for the Birds of Prey, but then I saw the extra title and felt a disturbance in the force telling me it was a Harley movie, similar thing happened with Suicide Squad, but the felling told me it was just going to be bad
Personally I'm surprised how on earth it has a better rating than Joker AND Sonic the Hedgehog, the two films it's associated with the most.

@9:49 scenes where the protagonist demonstrates awareness of the villain trope of delaying killing the hero needs to be its own category of sin now. Its such an overplayed gag that its become its own cliche, rather than writers demonstrating how "clever" and "aware" they are.

I'm not sure how to feel about Canary and Huntress in this movie. I like their characters just fine, Huntress is even cutely awkward, but they're just not the characters themselves, y'know?
Also Victors scars aren't a cliche. That was a part of his character long before it was a cliche.
Canary was fine, she’s way more powerful in the comics. Romana Flowers Huntress was alright, pity they took away the cape and cowl and shoved her aside to make more room for Harley.
Cassandra Cain was the worst, such a disservice to the comic character.
Li-Li Mandragon they can easily develop the characters over time to be more comic accurate. Take Marvel for example some of their characters didn’t have the best comic looks or origins at the beginning but then they got better over time. The same can happen with these characters if people give them a chance.

Harley's bangs are a sin in themselves
I was hoping you would’ve discussed how Harley was able to get a boost from Canary’s scream, while others were taken out.
This movie was entertaining, but my problems with it were:
-not focusing on the actual Birds of Prey until the last 25 minutes.
-the movie being so choppily told out of order.
-Huntress being *_so loosely_* tied to the plot.
Don't forget to add how they ruined Cassandra Cain
The movie is told from an unreliable narrator, which is why it doesnt flow properly, it's told the way Harley is telling you the story. I thought it worked well but it got annoying at times
The movie also tries to trade entertainment and runtime for comic references. We don’t need heina king instead just give some more time to character development
It's definitely done horribly just like every other DC movie and they need to get rid of Snyder while they're at it.

One of the BIGGEST sins in this movie is taking one of the best Batgirl's(Cassandra Caine)and reducing her to a fuckin' pickpocket!
people actually care about Cassandra Cain? I never liked her and I didn't know some people did. But it's not like they are gonna make a movie about her anyway she's never been an important member of the Batfamily or JL or Teen Titans

They hired the fight choreographer from John Wick to redo a couple of the fight scenes and you can tell which ones they were.

@Jason Mullings I've only seen the movie once and tbh that was one time too many, and yes most of the fight scenes were utter nonsense bookended by nut shot humor, with the exceptions being the short fights in the police station.
