Just wanna point out that Natives have a superstition where you’re not supposed to whistle at night because it could summon a skinwalker/evil spirit, and in this scene 13:13 she whistles and immediately after you hear the predator make the iconic clicking noises. That’s just great attention to detail in my opinion, and a fun little Easter egg of sorts.
The reason the woods seemed recently burned during the French ambush, was because the Predator had already fought there once. That was the explosion that made Naru lose focus with the cougar and fall out of the tree.
@@robmiller6785 just context clues. The French hunters didn’t seem surprised by the appearance of the Predator, the slaughtered buffalo and bear traps alluding to the hunters being in the area. Just what makes sense to me. The explosion could have been a camp that the Predator attacked or an attempt by the French to kill it.
I honestly didn't know that the predator coming out of the mud was a call back. I thought it was just cool scene showing that the trap didn't work but only slowed him down.
The expectation was for Naru to get covered in mud to hide her body temperature as a callback to how Dutch fought in the first movie. It was subverted by turning things around but it still served as a callback. Good stuff.
I don't think it was a callback. The trap worked exactly as intended. She aimed the helmet right where the predator would have had to have been, which means she planned that whole thing and knew it would be at that point in the quicksand, at that level and shoot her at that time. That was the worst part of the movie. Otherwise, I loved it.
7:22 I don't think The Predator pursued her in the water, because it thought that she was weaker than the bear he'd already killed, and more or less doesn't see her as a threat, seeing her more like the rabbit.
Hahahhahahahahaa..... you mean the predator let's a fully grown woman who tried to kill it multiple times is weaker than a guy with no weapons and no feet?
@@danhair I mean the first time he saw her fail miserably against the bear, which he later killed, meaning he felt the bear was superior. So he was content to let her float down the river. Then he saw the French had captured her. So maybe he felt that there wasn't any sport in killing her then. I feel like killing the guy with no feet or weapons was just like Jeremy said, the Predator just either being fed up with letting humans go, it deciding that they were the top of the food chain on the planet, and all needed to die, or that it couldn't tell between which ones were and weren't a threat, and was done taking chances after somehow taking some many wounds. The movie overall looks good, but the writing and plot are pretty suspect. I mean how does a predator take down most of an armed and trained modern private military team, but now one of those same creatures is getting injured, wounded, and finally killed by wild animals, colonial age weaponry and people?
@@LucianDevine have you forgotten than he sees her again when she runs into her tribesmen? She attacked it at least 2 other times. But yeah, the point is that her plotarmor is very Very thick. Maybe the predator can get that kind of childish. Maybe. That still doesn't change the fact that he is shown being a hunter during the opening of the movie and a little bitch by the end of the movie. The point is: the movie has sloppy writing. The movie is the 3rd best Predator movie in the franchise so far m even with the sloppy writing...
Well shot for sure. The plot had issues, as all movies do at times, particularly in the finale and really whenever Naru had to do something that she wouldn't have been allowed to do at that time or just straight physically couldn't do.
13:59 Just a quick point of correction regarding the functionality of the dart gun. It's not the case that the darts bounce around until they hit their target, they're individually guided projectiles programmed to home in on whatever the laser site is pointed at. When he comes out of the mud and fires the dart at her, the dart swoops around in a big circle to hit the predator rather than coincidentally bouncing around until it hit its mark. The REAL sin of this moment is how did she know exactly where the predator would end up so that she could plant the mask in the perfect position to nail the predator with a headshot with its own weapon? For that matter, how'd she know that the predator would save the dart gun until he was in the mud pit? :P
also, how did she know where the head was going to be. then there's also the predators head cock right before he dies, literally had enough time to move at the very least duck

I Googled "thermal vision rabbit" like you said too, and the pics all showed even more body via the radiative heat than the movie did! The movie was pretty close to the pics I saw online, so... sin is unearned in this case.
The difference isn't from the Rabbit, as a normal Thermal scan shows mainly the Ears and Eyes as the main heat source. Modern equipment will adjust the image to show the rest of the body, kinda computer based dumb AI. This makes tracking things easier with thermal. The Predator would likely use the same things as well, and any other animal that uses heat to hunt would likely make those adjustments in the brain also.
@@M3ricle , their blood isn't cold, no, but their bodies don't regulate, meaning their body temperature will be very close to that of their environment. Thus, thermal vision should not see them very well. The point of the sin was more about how stupid it was that the predator couldn't see that human because of some medicine, but it saw the snake just fine.
@@SgtSupaman A snakes body is not at all similar in temperature to its environment though. Ive owned snakes. They all require a heating element of sorts. If they could just hang out at room temperature all the time they wouldnt need a heat pad or lamp. They go into the sun or a warm area and absorb as much heat as they can without harming themselves then slowly lose that heat until their next basking session. So while theyre not always as infrared visible, they will definitely be at a higher heat than the environment thus visible.
Same. I was like "uuuuh that actually looks about the same to me 🤷🏻♂️" That's sin number 1. Sin number 2 was him not realizing why he didn't kill her once she was in the bear trap because he was using her as bait once he realized there was a predator above her and she was now prey
I like the attention to detail with how they shoot the bow that is actually a style that relies more on the forearm rather than back muscles great for fast firing as well
The reason Danny Glover gets the same gun at the end of Predator 2 is because they came back after the events in Prey and killed off the entire tribe. It's hinted at in the animated closing credits.
But like why??? Since when do predators do that shit? She beat The predator, she proved herself, she shoudl be given a trophy and either taken in to train and Hunt with them or free to do as she please.

They never leave the bodies of there dead behind. If you remember she beheaded the predator so they had to go into the village to get it. At that point I'm gonna assume a fight breaks out. There is talks of a sequel at the moment.
Drawing the line at the chain makes sense and fits with the lore of Predators. Predators do not like attacking things that cannot defend itself or sees as weak as there is no challenge. The coyote was focused on something else, but it wasn't defenseless. Same thing with the weapons. it has advanced weapons, but their prey still has a chance to fight back. A chain or weakened prey prior to the hunt puts the prey at a disadvantage and there is no worth or honor in hunting something at its best against what you have. I like the predator because of what is implied about their culture and way of life/thinking without them ever speaking a word.
It's the difference between people who are HIRED to fight, and people who fight as a way of life. Same reason the ewoks could take on the stormtroopers.
multiple sins off for releasing this movie in Comanche. Love how you can tell how they feel about the movie based on what they sin. This movie is a perfect example. That said, this movie is so damn great and better than it had any right to be.

How did the Predator not know that shooting without the helmet on would be different to shooting with the helmet on? Does it not understand how to use its own tech?
He was a mongoloid and the group dumped him knowing he would be removed from their group. They then tried to remove proof of their presence by exterminating the entire tribe and claiming the magic time traveling pistol.
It DID know. The bolt gun can still be fired without the helmet, in which case the bolts just move forwards in a straight line. Feral just didn't know the targeting lasers were pointed at him.

Even though I guess it's not canon anymore but the Predator versus Alien 2 movie we saw the trophy rack on the predator ship. It had a Triceratops skull mounted on the wall of the ship. Implying that those Predators had been coming to Earth for millions of years.
i am going to be a semantic nerd here so I apologize but there was no implication of hunting during the time of the dinosaurs. it was an outright statement. if i had a trophy rack of shit i have killed you would not say, "are you implying you hunted those?"

I’d argue that hunting using a cloaking device is actually practical, deer blinds, camouflaging, blending into the foliage, etc… The goal is to drop your prey without it being able to notice you beforehand
I miss the days of Arnold Schwarzenegger boldly challenged the Predator with an epic war cry and bow and arrows laced with grenades while completely covered in mud.
I loved the part where Dutch just stops moving and so the Predator, Dutch taunts the Predator yelling "C'mon kill me", but the Predator senses a trap and walks around, that was like totally credible.
Going to have to disagree on this one. The predator literally kills stuff, rips out the spine, takes the skull, and just leaves the rest on the ground. Him and the trappers are basically the same in that regard.
@@Rawblin Predator only hunts other predators though. A big point of the originals is that they don't fight unarmed combatants and in the expanded lore they are extremely honourable hunters and fairly respectful warriors. It would make sense that the predator would be pissed off at dudes killing harmless animals and leaving the corpses to rot.
I saw this entire movie at a local shop. Didn't even care that I was standing the whole time, I didn't want to miss anything and I had to finish all of it!

Fun fact: I didn't know this was a Predator movie when I was taken to go see it. When I realized it was, I actually contemplating just leaving. I'm glad I didn't it was just actually a good movie. A Predator movie had to right being that legitimately cool.
It's awesome that the bear almost beat the predator. just shows how scary bears really are, Imagine if there had been two. The movie would've ended right there. But this is fictional. Still cool though.
This movie opens ups a lot of possibilities. The Predator could be in Vietnam during the war or we can have the Predator hunting on one of the South Pacific Islands during World War II.
Did we really lost the war at Vietnam? We were just backing up the French in Indochina against the advance of the Communist Vietcong and since the war was unpopular our troops were sent back, but we did stop the advance of the North Vietnamese Vietcongs, also we suffered like 53,000 casualties whereas North Vietnam suffered between one and three million casualties, so.....
The predator left Naru when she was in the bear trap because he saw the trap as tech more advanced than what she had. He left her to watch the more "advanced" humans.
This explanation makes no sense. He didn't kill her in the trap because it would be against the spirit of the hunt to kill something trapped. They live to hunt the ultimate prey, not something trapped.
@@MDCxThePG Okay, but they also like to go for the toughest prey. The French trappers had more advanced tech. So it could be a combination of both things.
@@TKHaines It wasn't a combo. He didn't go for her because she was trapped (and not trapped by him). That's all. He went after the french hunters because they were prey as well.
@2:32 you say they built the stretcher way too fast, yet you show the full scene where it goes from during the day to after sunset. That scene clearly shows that it took them a few hours to get it ready, not minutes.
Exothermic not cold blooded. The snake was active and in a strike position which meant that it had already been warmed up so the predator would have been able to see it clearly.
3:02 isn't a sin if you been outside with an actual source of light relying on fire such as torches/campfires you would know it limits your visual range and makes it very easy to spot you. Putting out the fire from the torch forces your iris to widen rather than narrow improving your vision in the dark.
I’m probably more excited than I should be due to the fact I can finally say I know someone featured in a Cinemasins video *and* he’s part of a sin deduction!
We had a 250 pound male, portraied as a trained army special forces guy with access to modern weaponry barely surviving his encounter with the Predator. Now we have a 85 pound woman strolling along the countryside eevading the predator for 3 days straight and outwitting him with his ow weapns wwhich she stole from him.
The predator sees the blood cooled man just fine (I mean, we can identify him just fine when seeing things from the Predator's POV), but just writes him off as already dead since his temperature is so low, until he screams and moves. The snake was moving and rattling, so the Predator made the intuitive leap that it was alive, even if it registered as close to ambient temperature.

@5:45 Rope actually isn't that hard to make. The slowest part of it is drying out the fibers, but guess what forest and grasslands typically have a-plenty of ? Dried fibers strewn everywhere. Once you have the dried fibers, the process of splitting and twining can be done in about 20 minutes with a practiced hand.
Dude forget about the rope with the fact that she can throw a tomahawk on a rope that easily in such a short amount of time is mind-boggling this movie's seems like she did that in like 30 minutes or a couple hours but that would take days to master
Predators actually have a code of honor, and although most of them follow it, it is usually considered more a guideline handbook than a proper rule book. This specific predator is an young-blood, pretty much an adult, but otherwise unproved against true challenging prey like a xenomorph. They must kill anything worthy on the way so they can finally be accepted into their final trial. He's pretty inexperienced, given how he fell for pretty much any trap laid for him and even some that weren't, this is particularly noticeable by the fact he attacked a lot of different animals without really knowing how worthy they are, so he was trying to find his way to the top of the food chain. Now about its specific conduct: Trapped prey is unfair game and absolutely shameful and a dishonor. Doesn't matter if you're a hardliner or not. That's why he left her alone. Using thermal vision is sometimes frowned upon, specially if you've been challenged to a duel, but otherwise pretty much generally acceptable. Finishing wounded prey is cool even if they're not a threat to you anymore, and although less honorably for you (if you're not the original hunter who wounded the prey), it is still mercy killing and a moral duty, but you should be willing to share the trophy with the hunter who previously wounded the prey if it wasn't you.
Who needs Dutch and Harrigan leveling a city while duke it out with a bunch of predators.. when you can have a teen girl coming out of age and showing warriors double of her size what sissies they are while shooting with arrows at a predator.

7:28 Actually there is now way it could work. The rope would add much additional drag which would heavily mess with the accuracy. Furthermore you have pull the rope far hard stronger than you thrown the axe for it to came anywhere near your hand - assuming if you manage to catch it and not cut your arm off. Also rope could easily tangled up during the throw making your axe useless. And somehow her rope is always the perfect length to be able to pull it with single move. The whole axe thing is the most unrealistic part in the movie, it would be better if they called is a Magic Axe of Returning +1 than having the whole rope thing. Besides, she seems to throw this axe way stronger than her mass is suggesting. Maybe there are some ultra trowing techniques that I am not aware of, but it looked as if she had Thor strength while trowing this axe.
axe thing is most unrealistic part? Alien hunter time traveler on earth- helooooo!! Also, assuming that this is old times when people just had to work way harder to survive, you should not take her mass into consideration when calculating her power. Creators of Prey where very focused to realistically portray Comanches and we can assume that physics is the same as in our world, because nothing says otherwise. In the Comanche dub, the callback line was changed because there's no translation for 'can' (very Yoda): "If it bleeds, we will kill it." Which is honestly way cooler of a line.
The Comanche were some of the most badass people in the history of this country and instead of just going with that they made them disposeable so the girl could be the hero...sinful
What I really wish they did with this movie (although its great and I love it how it is) is reallllly tease out the Predator reveal. Like have the scene with the bear be the first scene that you actually see the Predator and up until then you had little bits that speculated on what it was but not until then do you have that realisation. So you could show someone the movie and their like oh yeah this is cool and then get to that scene and be like "Wait...this is a Predator movie?!"
I never saw any predator movies other than this one so I didn't even know there were multiple callbacks, so they couldn't have messed with the movie that much. It was such a fun movie too!
No offence but that's a pretty silly take on it from you. He's not saying that the lines/actions which are callbacks "mess with the movie" but that it's overdone. And it's pretty obvious you aren't going to realise something is a direct quote or sequence lifted directly from something you've never seen before.
Movie is good because everything that makes a movie is here and done well. Surprising how rare that is in a franchise sequel with good movie#1 premise.
I couldn't get over how fucking *tight* the storytelling is in this movie. The one bit you missed is the whistle at night. My Metis friend gripped his chair and said "woah" under his breath when that happened. That was a callout for those who knew what it meant, and everyone else misses it.

I really enjoyed this movie. Another great sins video.Though I must say. The cold French man was lying still in being silent. The cold blooded snake was making noise and moving. Might be an indication of how it was spotted. :P
Also snake's blood not that cold when they are hunting/moving. Cold blooded refers to their body temperature becoming the same as the external environment when they are sedentary.
The snake still moving after being skinned is completely normal. They can be completely field dressed and cooking over a fire and still be writhing around. A beheaded venomous snake can still bite and and inject venom hours after after decapitation. Not a sin.
The snake thing makes sense. Snakes are actually warm to the touch, just not as warm as us mammals. Reptiles just have a different system; they wont cool your drink down if you dunk em in it...
I'm pretty sure the Predator we see in this movie is a junior untested one (sort of like Naru) and the other Predators are off fighting the French. That is why the ship did so many passes before dropping him off and why the forest is burnt down. This movie is a side battle to a larger battle that we never get to see.
one issue on your take. the french wasn't that big of group (size of camp indicates that). the way it came across to me, that this was the first pred on earth and was there scouting it to see what was the top predators on the planet and if it was worthy to be a test site for future training tests.
Not junior...he was mentally retarded! They intentionally sent him down knowing the second he wasn't chasing wildlife a real predator would remove him from their group. Killing itself by using a precision targeted weapon without the targeting system is dumb AF!

I don't think it was a callback. The trap worked exactly as intended.

Just a quick point of correction regarding the functionality of the dart gun.

The movie was pretty close to the pics I saw online, so... sin is unearned in this case.
haha .. did the same thing and noticed that too .. Was going to post something about it but you beat me too it LOL
Also his comment about snakes being cold blooded. They don't have cold blood, thats not what cold blooded means.

The predator left Naru when she was in the bear trap because he saw the trap as tech more advanced than what she had. He left her to watch the more "advanced" humans.
He left her alone bc it wasn’t his trap. It would have been dishonorable for a hunter to kill what someone else had caught.

Now about its specific conduct:
Trapped prey is unfair game and absolutely shameful and a dishonor.

The predator screams when it steps on the bear trap but Naru only grunts like it's just a slight inconvenience.
Cinemasins is where I come to watch movies I'll never watch...
I never saw any predator movies other than this one so I didn't even know there were multiple callbacks, so they couldn't have messed with the movie that much. It was such a fun movie too!
That’s a sin right there
No offence but that's a pretty silly take on it from you. He's not saying that the lines/actions which are callbacks "mess with the movie" but that it's overdone. And it's pretty obvious you aren't going to realise something is a direct quote or sequence lifted directly from something you've never seen before.
Watch the original!
The circle of life took me out 😂
No sins for all of the power sliding? She's useless in a fight unless she power slides through dirt and stone... That shit hurts, I don't care how battle hardened you are, walking and running with your legs and knees cut up and bleeding because you thought a power slide through gravel was your best option.
I am so happy you gave the due credit to prey. So many major channels just ignored it. 👍
Cause it was trash?
@@ActualDrunkAtheist have you seen it?
Maybe Indian hunting bows are different (but I doubt it) but European bows, especially war bows, are over 100lbs draw weight, there's no way you could hold it at full draw for an extended period of time. Especially not when running after something.
A good watch! Just enjoy the show and don't... Don't think at all what's happening or it will hurt you.
It is almost 300 years until Greyback gives Detective Harrigan the pistol. And we know they like coming to Earth to hunt humans. So it is quite possible gave it to him/took it after this. Hell the credits suggest that after the Feral Predator's ship went home to inform them of his death, they returned to see who killed him.
Also the Feral Predator might be a newly blooded hunter whose just going hunt wild,
@14:31 It's hard to take him seriously when he makes mistakes like this...
I kinda figured the reason the predator just started killing all the french trappers even the wounded ones at the end was that it was just ticked off after having been shot a couple of dozen times not to mention the bear trap I mean he has only so much patience. really licked this movie and am still hoping it gets a blu ray release some day with possibly a director's cut and son behind the scenes content
*liked
Mr Jerome, you have outdone yourself. I didn't think you could Cinema Sin, PREY. But, You have outdone yourself here. The dogs name is sariii. ONE OPF YOUR BETTER Cinema Sins!!!
Not a sin.
One of the most unexpectedly good horror movie sequals ever! Prey is creative and fun with some great cinematography. Really enjoy the movie!
Okay, but i can't help but notice that half of your sins are basically for the stated reason as being too awesome
The end plan relied on the predator being 3 kinds of stupid
He clearly was reliant on his stealth tech and helmet to beat humans.
I’m native and loved this movie. It’s not historically accurate in everything but when did perfection become the standard for entertainment
such a weak incompentent predator can't be reffered to as perfect.
Garbage praised by morons is the standard now...this movie proves it along with the comic book movie cancer.
Historically accurate? Like native people fighting an alien. That historically accurate?
@@compirate I meant the use of Comanche and the French trappers. The movie made it seem the natives were wholly unaware of the French trappers
@@brianlara6451 I hear you there.
@@joshtull4306triceratops skull though...
I like that idea
The fog pan on was great(8:52) like the movie UP, then transitions to the characters strapped to a big, large, grounded... 😂
This was an awesome film. Amber Midthunder was phenomenal. The action scenes were incredible. Loved the bit where the Frenchmen fired at the Predator and had to take time to reload. Refuse to see this as a tv movie.
Okay I had to stop the video at 8:49. You sold how good it was to well. Now I want to watch it. I'll be back afterwards. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I truly Loved this movie.. I'm a big fan of the original, and I just enjoyed this one so much. They did a stellar job! 🤘
Agreed. I had no real expectations for this movie but was gonna watch it regardless because its Predator. But I finished it and was BLOWN AWAY by how good it was all the way through. It got me and my buddy hoping that they do another one but this time it takes place during Feudal Japan.
