@Sideways G looks are subjective. I, for example, really like how the new Type-R looks. Except for the rear bumper fake vents, they kinda suck. But overall it's a great looking car, probably the best looking from factory Type-R for me, and it's far from being hideous. Yeah, it looks kinda bold and flashy for a stock hot-hatch, but it's not a bad thing for many people.

Searched Type R videos a lot and only seeing this one now for some reason but great review -from someone who clearly know what he's talking about! Had my FK8 type R, from new, for over a year now and still look forward to - and love - driving it! This is what all of the dipshits ragging on the looks don’t get- all that aero stuff is functional. It’s a commuter that generates several hundred lbs of downforce. I don’t give a damn what it looks like, I feel like I’m driving a race car to work every day. Also, it looks a lot less outlandish now in 2019 than it did when it released. That’s just the direction design is going. Resale value on them is basically MSRP... I have a feeling the cars are going to age very well.

The entertainment system is sluggish. That needs pepping up. Some people want more exhaust noise, but mine is a daily drive, so I don't want to be cracking and popping up and down the high street, it's just irritating. It's bigger than you expect and longer, so I managed to scrape a wheel on day 2. That's my bad rather than the fault of the car, it's length and width give it stability. As mentioned in the video, people are hot or cold about the looks. I'm a fan. If I wanted to drive a cookie cutter jelly bean car I'd have bought something that looks like a golf (i.e. everything else). There's no configurable driving mode. You have three and it would be nice to pick +R thottle with R suspension and R steering perhaps? It's never really bothered me. It starts in R where everything is taut and responsive. I only slip it into comfort if I'm hitting a road with speed bumps. +R I like for specific roads.
It's front wheel drive, so if it's wet it's quite easy to spin the wheels pulling out of junctions. But again, it's FWD because that's what a Civic Type R is and I'd take the weight saving over a Focus RS any day. That's pretty much it. Anything else comes down to "Is this better than a car twice its price?" style criticisms.
Half the things I listed are design choice compromises where you get the bad is compensated for by good. The list of good things though far outweighs any negative. The seating position means you get IN the car as opposed to ON the car. The turn in is amazing, the stability is amazing. The brakes are amazing. The mid range power is amazing. The sound system is pretty damn good (In the UK we have two spec's, the GT version has better sound). It has safety features like auto brake if it thinks you're about to run over a child or rear end someone. Reverse parking camera with indication of cars or people crossing your path. Lane departure warning. Radar cruise control. it will even steer you along a motorway, which I find freaky. I've picked up 2.5m lengths of timber to bring home, so it's practical. The ride is supple, comfort mode is genuinely comfortable. I could go on. It's much easier to write about the good bits :)

Thats just how good the car is so good that the competition has to actually have AWD/4wd Even if you watch and listen to other people that reviewed it they all say the same styling blablabla could be a louder exhaust all the same if you haven't watched chris harris video you should you might actually find the minute critisms that you're looking for there

I own one and was *not* a fan before buying, the lot just had one and my ST got wrecked so I said fuck it. My impressions- it's legitimately, and I mean this, the best daily driver ever built. It's a 9 or 10 at everything for the price. It's comfortable as hell, fast as hell, handles like crazy, has a gargantuan hatch, seats 4 grown men easily, has the best manual transmission possibly ever, has a super predictable, linear engine and powerband that just keeps going to redline... no baby turbo falling off after 5k... I drive like a dick and still get 20mpg... It's just the best all around street car ever made. I moved a 9 ft sectional couch in mine. I bought it in Chicago and road tripped it to LA a week later with 3 dudes- 6'3 6'3 and 6'0 and it was a couch. It has no downsides beyond the subjective, and the looks have grown on me to be honest. It looks far less outlandish than it did when it was new, I suspect it will stay modern looking when other cars from the era start looking dated... it was just a bit ahead of its time. That said, I do wish it was a bit less flashy since I'm 37... but I also live in LA where you see all kinds of crazy cars all the time so it's really not that bad. If I had to force a complaint it would be the infotainment system. Mine is a 19 and I guess it has been upgraded vs the older ones, but it's still a bit slow. The infotainment in my '17 ST3 was much better. Better satnav, more cohesive... but that's the last thing I care about in a car and the Civic isn't bad, it's just not the best. And really, that's trying hard to nitpick. If you are looking at dd type cars under 70k and can handle the looks, it has no competition.

Why? Not every car has to be for everyone. This car was built around a specific purpose, and those who can will be just fine. I guess next you'll say the Veloster-N isn't for you either because it's manual only too. Plenty of other fast, great driving cars out there with only 2 pedals.

It’s the best manual transmission out there. If you don’t have the skill to shift your own gears, get another car.

As usual, looks are subjective. It's what happens behind the wheel that counts. Buying cars solely on looks alone will not end well.
