I've been training for 4 hours now learning the tools atrag, kestrel, microdagr, range chart etc and so far i've landed one perfect shot on a target beyond 800 metres, out of 10 or more tries...this game respects and expects my intelligence, so i really love it, also the community is great, without it it'd be nothing.
At 33:20 you say more humidity= more moisture in the air = the bullet has more resistance on it. This isn't true, as air with more moisture in it is actually less dense that dryer air, because the molecules of H2O are smaller.
Nero Gaming Wow you're completely right. That's a common shooter misconception. I should have learned my lesson from ua-cam.com/video/nthZ7RHD3yA/v-deo.html thanks for the catch.
I'd just like to point out; in that clip from Sniper, Marky Mark's spotter calls the distance at "790 yards and closing" but the vehicle was obviously moving away from them.
+Nastrael Rowe actually the camera made it seem as if it was leaving... but they were travelling right to left as it approached them because the road was on a bend. By the end of the shot they were moving away, but in the beginning they were getting closer just right to left.
+Nastrael Rowe When spotter says that vehicle is "870yds and closing", he means vehicle is closing on that "white spot on the road" (a point of interception which is ranged to be 900yds) on which the shooter will aim with lead ("push 2 left, i.e. push point of aim 2 mil dots to left). The scenario is just fine.
+Archy11102 Yes. They have zeroed the rifle at that point and they are just waiting for the spotter to calculate the movement speed of the object and compensate for the wind effect. Already everything was drawn in the notebook :)
its from a film literally called sniper i believe? sharpshooter maybe? im not sure though, but on the film you can see that it is closing, though this does show the opposite
While not often I find myself doing such a role I remember getting it down on the ACE 2 days and its even more complex now with the ATrag and all. Good video man.
Thanks! New video of similar style coming soon. Im working with a VICE reporter in replicating the longest shot ever made as close to reality as possible. This is only possible with ACE3 advanced ballistics of course.
I've been watching Rex for a long time. I came across this game when it was suggested on steam. Did some research and I had no idea how in depth this game is. Really excited to try this game out!
If you're a beginner at ArmA and wanna get into this sorta thing ACE 3 ( a mod for arma that can be found on the workshop ) is a requirement. Without it there is no wind or anything else just basic bullet drop that isnt super accurate to real life Hope it helps and welcome to the community
Rex is fake expert. Read up on some forum discourses on him recently. A real former scout/sniper weighed in on one of his "sniper courses", doing dangerous shit with students that provide zero actual training value.
Hello @Seriously I'm having trouble and I'm hoping you can help me out here. I am trying to find the "Adjust Weapon Zero" option but it is not popping up in my menu. Can you help me with this?
Good to see an in-depth tutorial!! I’m trying to start up a UA-cam channel and new to PC/streaming these videos help a ton! Plan to make more up to date videos on all this stuff as well!
Great video. Can you tell me how you put the white paper target on the yellow pop up target (at 14:30)? I can only find the swivel targets in the editor, and they keep moving side to side. :(
One problem with the last part of the video, was when u took the shot then ran. You should wait in future, let the guys look around for you, I mean, if they don't start shooting at you right away, they haven't seen you. So just stick around, watch them, then when everything has cooled down, move, otherwise you have a chance in getting compromised and being shot right as you are about to leave.
this tutorial is not entirely accurate. First of all, if you really want to set up your sniper career, you should learn to do all the calculations without an AtragMX using only kestrel, the calculator and your mind :). Secondly, answering your question, maybe you are not taking the HEADwind into account?
@Seriously a higher humidity causes less bullet drag. Density altitude is barometric pressure and temp together for if you're running a custom drop chart.
Good video, but... Considering that wind is probably the second-most-important factor in long-range shooting, it'd have been nice if your section at about 43:50 to about 44:50 could have been a little more clear. Thanks for taking the time to upload a highly in-depth 1hr tutorial for us scrubs (thinking about it, probably a lot more than that if you include all the cuts, research, loading and editing to be done, even if you ignore YT upload times). EDIT: Also, at 51:30 (thereabouts), surely the Kestral *should've* showed small crosswind values, as there was a significant wind across your line of fire. This is evident when you fire, since you have to compensate left. EDIT2: What is this 'set zero' functionality? What's the point of it; what does it do, and why do you need it? Why would you want to offset the 'zero' mark on your rifle?
+Kill3rCat I agree, windage could have been explained better. But headwinds and tailwinds truly don't affect the shot much, unless you're in extreme conditions. Setting the zero is something important you have to do every time you start a mission. 14:00 in the video - the ACE coding for the zeroed values isn't as correct as it should be - to adjust for the m200, I actually had to adjust .7mils high to offset the imperfection.
Seriously Ah, I see. So, where do you get the 'accurate' ballistic values? I hope that doesn't mean alt-tabbing to view GitHub whenever I want to take a long-range shot.
Just practice your rifle on the range and learn the true zero at 100meters. and then correct from there. Github is a good source of information but not a necessity.
Awesome tutorial and cool music and photos in between! I've got a question though: Could you explain how to input the crosswind? I've checked many videos so far and all show oppositional processes or none at all. It's been a few years, so the ballistics calculator looks a little different now. Cheers man.
The REL values are good if you're adjusting your shot. So, you calculate the shot, everything remained the same except for, let's say, distance. Once you change distance and hit Calc, it should tell you how much you need to adjust from the previous condition. Meaning, if you do +5.5/+0.5 and your target moves 500 meters closer, now you gotta be at +5.1/+0.4, the REL value will show -0.4/-0.1. At least that's how it worked when I played with Advanced Ballistics pre-ACE3. If I'm wrong, please elaborate :)
On the mad catz rat series there is a steady button, it makes the mouse movement still it doesn't help steadying just disables mouse movement makes the trigger pull not jump off target. Love the mouse :D
Yes, a lot of the same knowledge applies. User factors like trigger pull, breathing, heart rate take years of shooting practice in the real world, though. Wind is also much more of a pain. Things like spindrift and coriolis are corrected in the same way- a constant variable applied to hold off or ballistics calculators. The Horus AtragMX, Kestrel 4500 pocket weather and Vector rangefinder are all real life tools. This parallel to realism far exceeds any other video game. This is why TiborasaurusRex loves this game, and also why my next video replicating the longest shot ever taken (Craig Harrison 2009) is accurate due to ACE 3. We can thank Ruthberg for the Advanced Ballistics end.
Rely good content. what makes long rang shooting even more difficult is that cross wind will not stay the same for, lets say 300m and it is very rear that you can get this under 1000m but you can get three different cross winds. And there is something called the Coriolis effect it is the effect that the earth has on your target you must go check it out if you have got time. (Nice shoot)
Sniping in Arma is difficult enough without the Ace mod I really love how much the community has modded Arma it's because by far the premier tactical simulation. It's in a class all by itself I wish they'd start work on Arma 4 and get it on a better more optimized engine because even after all the time that's passed Arma is capable of visuals that still stand up in 2019. The game still literally needs only a few minor changes to make it perfect and I hope Bohemia will look into this in 2020
I've watched like 10 guides from 2015-2020 and all of them are off target or just barely hit on the first shot. What I have learned is that the tools will get you "Close enough" and you need to adjust to the miss.
you can use the range card to help if you have to be fast. All this is mainly to make sure you hit precisely but if everything is going to shit you can use range card but you wont hit every shot and it doesn't help at longer ranges/
One thing I'd like to point out. When firing from an elevated position, you typically want to aim slightly lower than where you intend to hit, like say you're shooting for center mass (as you always should) you may want to aim more toward the groin to account for said elevation.
Oh man, I didn't know half of this stuff existed in ACE. Awesome. Great video. Question: what mod are you using to activate the visible trajectories, all the menu stuff that (I assume) lets you place targets, etc?
Hey Unipus have you worked out how to build this into your own missions? I too saw we could access it through the downloaded training course but it would be good to build it into other missions - any ideas?
I've been able to decompile the 360 training course PBO and edit it to incorporate other mission elements... but it only seems to work in single player and I haven't found any way to turn on or off any of the options it adds to the menu... so far it's all or nothing.
+unipus Hi. I had a look today. Not managed multi player either but to turn options on and off you can edit the init file. I think the lines are player.add... Or player.additem. A couple are already commented out eh kingofthehill. Take a look - should be simple to just get rid of some others.
Really good video for the most part got a few small details explained wrong but I wont nit pick the stuff that doesn't matter. However I do shoot IRL an was wondering if your positive on the scope being adjusted in mills...? Every scope I own is adjusted in MOA which when I heard you say MOA is not important I gasped lol. An if it is in mills awkwardly to me because i'v never seen a scope adjust in mills, can I change it to MOA??? cause its just what i'm used to IRL.
Unfortunately yes, all scopes are adjusted in Milliradians not minutes of angle. This is the way it's built in for ACE. Currently you can't adjust it by MOA, which you could in ACE2. You can still adjust your shot by MOA, but you would have to do the 3.44 conversion for scope corrections. Yes I made some mistakes in the video, good catch!
Great video however, I am still a bit confused when it comes to all of the wind settings? Which wind readings do I have to input into the atragmx to ensure an accurate shot?
The only thing I can't figure out is the weapon zeroing. I do not have this option. I understand I must first change the zero in order to see the dialog but no luck. Did they take this out on an update?
Wind measurements with Kestrel are better done standing. Prone position is inadequate. Moreover, tailwind doesn't affect the bullet as much as the headwind (it doesn't add up to the muzzle velocity - Newton's law for conservation of momentum). Other is everything superior - nice video. I liked it :) Cheers.
+Bruno Dzogovic 1:00:34 I take it standing up. I thought I covered it in the video - maybe not. Yes, the reader doesnt read wind as well when its close to the floor, reaslitic enough right? But standing compromises movement and concealment. A tradeoff I guess
yes the vector is a powerful tool but it doesn't zoom in and out what is the point of having it you can't really find the target if you can't zoom in and out
Cheers. How can I truly zero the gun, like you did at the beginning? I can't seem to find the option within the Ace menu. I follow your steps, and the shot always misses.
It seems after the Apex update, the range and key binding "R" for the vector does not work anymore. however the azimuth "tab" still works. Please anyone, update if you find a fix! thank you :)
very nice video!!! but i cant get that bullet path trace to work. as i can see in the video, u have an special mouse scroll command for this. how to do that, to turn it manually on or off? and which scope is needed to see the effect? i have the same LRPS ingame as you. The actual ACE3.5 mod installed. everything else seems to work. by the way i´ve found the Advanced Ballistics by Ruthberg. Do i need to install them also to get this effect to work? could this colored effect be disabled in current ACE Version? thanks, cheers xD
+ironblader Hi, it's a separate mod called the 360 degree training course, 1:14 in the video, I link the 360 degree course, its a singleplayer mission file
+Seriously Hey, thanks for your fast response. i think i havent recognised the first 2mins of your video .. my bad... but, most of your links here are dead, cutten off on the right side, also in ur 2475m vid....i just found the mission u mentioned, and later im gonna test it. now i have to sleep. just hitted 500 arma 3 hrs ;-) cheers xD
+ironblader Fixed as many links as I could, I didn't know they were dead. Life has caught me busy, advanced ballistics is still a passion of mine though.
Todd Davis with the normal DAGR I just hit home twice, use shift+home to switch between all 3 tools instead of assigning individual keys. I keep my DAGR and Kestrel open and then set my Atrag back on home to pull up as necessary since the other two sit in the corners of the screen
Nicolas That's a key indicator that your Advanced Ballistics is not enabled (the key part of the ACE 3 mod). You need to create a module in the editor. Please reference my other comments.
With the Zero adjustment, does the mod change that from the games default setting depending on environmental data? e.g Altitude, Baro, Temp? If so you would need to re-zero for each map you play on due to large variations in environmental data.
Just getting back into Arma and a little confused by some of the tutorials. Might just be confusion over terminology. Ame I right or wrong in my understanding that you might need to confirm zero and true the ballistic calculators?
What keys are you pressing when you do everything. For example when i use the vector range finder i dont know what key finds the distance. Also i don't know how to access the tools. Like the kestrol. I know the windows key stuff
ok, seriously I understand it all in the video. I just need to know if the atrag calculates like spin drift and all that. I just don't understand how do you calculate for that if you don't know how?
Yes spin drift is automatically applied with the information from the round inputted. It has to do with the ballistics coefficient and the velocity of the round (muzzle velocity). It is a pretty stable variable to apply. I will try to do a video on these topics my friend, they are very advanced shooter topics (manually doing corrections with no calculator!!)
spin drift is simply a cause from the rotation of the projectile which is why rifle with right rifling twist drifts to the right and left drifts to the left . the tighter the rifling in the barrel the more spin it will have. the projectile's diameter also effects the the amount it drifts. when you add wind to this it and your rifling twists to the right and the wind comes from right to left it can actually stabilize the round longer and add lift to the round which can help increase your effective range. the opposite wind direction with the same right handed twist you will get the opposite effect. The velocity doesn't effect the spin drift until you start getting the lift or drop effects from wind. honestly i'm impressed by your knowledge you have so early, even the Marine Corps marksmanship trainers(0932) don't get taught this information. Never stop learning!
Can I use sniper rifles with ACE enabled on missions without the advanced ballistics module, with the same approach you showed in here just fine, except omitting the wind of course? Or will they work completely different?
Without the advanced ballistics module, you will shoot default ACE ballistics - "Changes include adjusted muzzle velocity, air friction and dispersion based on real life values." from the website. ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/ All your tools will still work.
Seriously Thanks for clarification, and for your reply to my other question aswell. I wanted to know for non-ACE scenarios that I play with friends and don't want to edit them every time due to their frequent updates.
that was a best tutorial in youtube , but i have problem . my KTragMX display is not like yours , I have no 'reset' , 'update' and 'calc' buttons .. how can i fix that ... thank you
hey nice video but i have a question... i have some problems with the zeroing of the scope.. so you said that you adjust the scope by 0.7 to 0.8 mils and than go to the self action menu and zero the weapon! but i dont have this option to do... i have the ace 3 mod + cba! thanks in advance
+OutsideTheDoor make sure the weapon is equipped and you have made adjustments on it. I am using the LRPS optic I would stick to that. this is a tricky and finnicky adjustment/bug, but it needs to be done for accurate shots. The M200 needs a .7mil adjustment zero at the start of every new game.
I need to start uploading again because now I’m applying this knowledge in real life and it’s awesome. Also with the crazy stuff in the world who knows, might have to apply this in a battlefield setting
+Vella Gaming Google search it. Altis and Stratis are based off real places, so are their latitudes. The latitude plays a part in the Coriolis effect over extreme distance. Altis and Stratis are roughly 40
where can i download the mission that u re using for make video? you have popup with detailes meters..distance..target 5/5...ecc..can u leave the link plz?
NOTE FOR ALL WITH ZERO ADJUSTMENT ISSUES; MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ACE BALLISTICS MODULE AND THE ACE WEATHER MODULES IN THE MISSION. I had that issue but i added those modules and everything worked like a charm!
Thanks. I think you have to unpbo the mission, edit it, add the advanced ballistic module, and then save it. If there's an easier way I'd love to know it :)
I've been searching and googling for how to determine your latitude, but to no avail. In this tutorial vid, which is the absolute best so far for ace3 sniping and I commend you, you indicated that your latitude was 40. However, how did you determine that? How do you determine your latitude on any arma map? When you looked at your map, I didn't see that number anywhere.
The island of Altis is based off the real world island of Lymnos, Greece, and so are the actual latitudes. So I simply googled the latitude for that island.
just addressing what you said about zeroing and wind. you're shooting a .408 at 100 yards. unless theirs gale force winds coming in wind will not affect the flight path at that range. just throwing that out there.
+Seriously absolutely. I was just saying that the round is traveling at speeds that wind isn't even a factor at 100 meters. great video though. I love the ACE mod.
You zero at 100 meters because wind doesn't effect it. It gives you the constant for your formula at greater distance when wind/elevation/temperature/barometric pressure/position on the earth becomes the variable.
Hey man, how you turn on advanced ballistics in game ?, when i play on the server (online) it works i can see lots of stuff in range card, but when i play single player ... i can see only range values and wind values ... ?, how to turn it on in single player ???
Nice video! I have a question. After I have downloaded the 360 degree and put it into the missions folder, I can't find it in my editor. Can someone help me? and yes, I'm kind of new to Arma haha
How do you get into the 360 training map with the equipment from ACE? I cant spawn Kestrel or the ballistic computer in there when I launch it in a "New LAN Multiplayer". Please help, this is exactly what I'm looking for, but I cant spawn with the right equipment and set up targets :/
Make sure Your CBA is correct, and the items are sort of hidden in the miscellaneous section (a small plus button in the top right). Select a vest, then look in the top right and look in the misc menu. Remember to make an advanced ballistics module in the editor, instead of doing multiplayer LAN, try editor and loading the mission from there.
Hello Mr. Seriously,I'm Cpl R. Getler. I play in the 7MEU Realism unit in ARMA 3. Your sniping tutorial is amazing and really helpful. I'm trying to make a sniper team in the 7MEU. I just need help. I'm trying to use the: "Red Hammer Studios, M2010 ESR" as our rifle but it has some issues. I've put in all of the gun data in the ATRAG MX, but every one of my shots are low. I'm thinking it's that somethings wrong with the m2010 files because some people have the same issue. I would be very grateful if you helped.
You know its arma, when there is a 1 hour Sniper tutorial :-)
You know it because it's made by the community ;D
as a sniper, you need at least 5 weeks of intense course on the m24
got to love it lol
I've been training for 4 hours now learning the tools atrag, kestrel, microdagr, range chart etc and so far i've landed one perfect shot on a target beyond 800 metres, out of 10 or more tries...this game respects and expects my intelligence, so i really love it, also the community is great, without it it'd be nothing.
I've noticed that having to work so much for one shot... MAKES IT SOOOO MUCH MORE SATISFYING!
+Neonz27 Seriously.
+Seriously I get it!
45 min setting up a shot.....target moved 0_o
Lee Jones Right? Haha. Gotta get it down with practice, if you see at the end of this video, me and a spotter pulled of the shot in 5-6 minutes.
+Seriously
the last 6 seconds, that shot, was more luck than anything. nice teamwork though.
+Lee Jones the first thing you should learn as a real sniper is to be patient!
=D
+Rodrigo Arantes (Ogrinho) its a fucking game
+Rabbit Support really!? Thanks Captain Obvious!
So there I was casually mooching around ARMA vids thinking 'oooh, something to brush up on'
Holy cow. This is weaponised maths. Excellent video sir!

No worries man, just wanted to make sure it was cleared up! Have a good one buddy
That's weird to say that H2O molecules are smaller then pure oxygen and nitrogen molecules in the air...
Chemistry aplied.
I was About to say that
I'd just like to point out; in that clip from Sniper, Marky Mark's spotter calls the distance at "790 yards and closing" but the vehicle was obviously moving away from them.

+Archy11102 Yes. They have zeroed the rifle at that point and they are just waiting for the spotter to calculate the movement speed of the object and compensate for the wind effect. Already everything was drawn in the notebook :)
What's a TRP?
"870 yards and closing"
-vehicle is driving away
exact thought. camera view was like 50 feet from shooters
its from a film literally called sniper i believe? sharpshooter maybe? im not sure though, but on the film you can see that it is closing, though this does show the opposite
Andrew Morris it's from shooter, and it isn't closing. I've seen the movie
Cipher oh are you sure?? i thought i remembered it closing, my mistake
It's closing towards a per-determined spot that the team zeroed in.
While not often I find myself doing such a role I remember getting it down on the ACE 2 days and its even more complex now with the ATrag and all. Good video man.
That shot at the end is and always will be so satisfying
I followed your instructions, had a target set up 580m, and hit dead on. Really good stuff man! Thanks
Intro'd with the best movie ever. Have to watch just because of that.
This was amazingly well done. Thank you so much for making this!
Thanks! New video of similar style coming soon. Im working with a VICE reporter in replicating the longest shot ever made as close to reality as possible. This is only possible with ACE3 advanced ballistics of course.
Really cool! That little piece of information earned you a sub! :D That I gotta see!
aLmAnZio It's done. Here ua-cam.com/video/vBYCQkEMk-c/v-deo.html
Seriously I saw it yesterday, very cool!
Will there be an article soon then?
Crazy how much stuff go's into the shot in game, just like in real life!
Clear, concise, great.

What's the mod are you using at 05:25 like a screen menu to choose the equipment?
+caduguimaraes Thats ACE3 Mode itself.
Thanks
Sniping in Arma is difficult enough without the Ace mod I really love how much the community has modded Arma it's because by far the premier tactical simulation.
It's in a class all by itself I wish they'd start work on Arma 4 and get it on a better more optimized engine because even after all the time that's passed Arma is capable of visuals that still stand up in 2019.
The game still literally needs only a few minor changes to make it perfect and I hope Bohemia will look into this in 2020
I've watched like 10 guides from 2015-2020 and all of them are off target or just barely hit on the first shot. What I have learned is that the tools will get you "Close enough" and you need to adjust to the miss.
very detail explanation!
you can use the range card to help if you have to be fast.
Thanks for this video, you learned me how to be a better sniper.
Tested last 3.1.1.1 version with 'ACE 360 Degree training course' - simple bug after shot if enable 'Bullet path tracing'.
Oh man, I didn't know half of this stuff existed in ACE. Awesome. Great video.
Question: what mod are you using to activate the visible trajectories, all the menu stuff that (I assume) lets you place targets, etc?
+unipus Nevermind, I see it's part of the 360 training course!
Cool. To me the bigger thing would be getting it up in multiplayer, but I haven't had time to dig into it lately.
What where the other mods used like the use in 30:44
thanks this has helped a lot
You can use Shift + Page Up to change by a whole mil instead of 0.1 mil.
Great video however, I am still a bit confused when it comes to all of the wind settings? Which wind readings do I have to input into the atragmx to ensure an accurate shot?
Thanks, very nice video!
A tradeoff I guess
yes the vector is a powerful tool but it doesn't zoom in and out what is the point of having it you can't really find the target if you can't zoom in and out
@Shady99
Yes with the ace module ballistics
?quick question i noticed you altered your MV based on temperature, wouldnt the AtragMX calculation consider that based on Temp entered in Atmosphere?
+עמרי בן-טל Yes, in the atmosphere tab you input the temperature and it corrects the MV for you.
+Seriously thanks!
Cheers. How can I truly zero the gun, like you did at the beginning? I can't seem to find the option within the Ace menu. I follow your steps, and the shot always misses.
pg up and pg dn i think
Does Any one Know How to get the Scope Corrections Mod? Like When He Showed the 0.7 thing at 7:06
It seems after the Apex update, the range and key binding "R" for the vector does not work anymore. however the azimuth "tab" still works. Please anyone, update if you find a fix! thank you :)
Is that an available mission you are playing on? Where you have those static targets with hit indicator, and the score and stats in the upper right?
+Poldi79de 1:15
very nice video!!! but i cant get that bullet path trace to work. as i can see in the video, u have an special mouse scroll command for this. how to do that, to turn it manually on or off? and which scope is needed to see the effect? i have the same LRPS ingame as you. The actual ACE3.5 mod installed. everything else seems to work. by the way i´ve found the Advanced Ballistics by Ruthberg. Do i need to install them also to get this effect to work? could this colored effect be disabled in current ACE Version? thanks, cheers xD
+ironblader Hi, it's a separate mod called the 360 degree training course, 1:14 in the video,
I link the 360 degree course, its a singleplayer mission file
+Seriously Hey, thanks for your fast response. i think i havent recognised the first 2mins of your video .. my bad... but, most of your links here are dead, cutten off on the right side, also in ur 2475m vid....i just found the mission u mentioned, and later im gonna test it. now i have to sleep. just hitted 500 arma 3 hrs ;-) cheers xD
+ironblader Fixed as many links as I could, I didn't know they were dead. Life has caught me busy, advanced ballistics is still a passion of mine though.
Can't find ATRAGMX in misc items and can't find that rangecard only has some shitty one I can't read?
how did you move your microDAGR down to the lower right? Its so annoying up close and in your face when walking. I thought that was the normal view.
Todd Davis with the normal DAGR I just hit home twice, use shift+home to switch between all 3 tools instead of assigning individual keys. I keep my DAGR and Kestrel open and then set my Atrag back on home to pull up as necessary since the other two sit in the corners of the screen
Thanks you for this tuto :)
But I have a problem with the Range Card ... I have only one column in "Bullet drop" section. Anyone has had this problem?
Nicolas That's a key indicator that your Advanced Ballistics is not enabled (the key part of the ACE 3 mod). You need to create a module in the editor. Please reference my other comments.
Seriously Ahhhhh, Tnanks you :D work perfect
I dont have the update button on the home screen of the AtragMX
With the Zero adjustment, does the mod change that from the games default setting depending on environmental data? e.g Altitude, Baro, Temp? If so you would need to re-zero for each map you play on due to large variations in environmental data.
Just getting back into Arma and a little confused by some of the tutorials. Might just be confusion over terminology.
Ame I right or wrong in my understanding that you might need to confirm zero and true the ballistic calculators?
Kerry Adams the ballistics calculators should be true but you should confirm zero yes. this is the ACE mod expansion which is incredibly detailed.
Never stop learning!
are you in the marines?
Was.
force recon or a marksman
Does ACE do slight random variations in muzzle velocity? IRL even match grade rifle ammo is +/- about 25 fps per shot.
old comment but yes ACE does do that
Can I use sniper rifles with ACE enabled on missions without the advanced
ballistics module, with the same approach you showed in here just fine, except omitting the wind of course? Or will they work completely different?
Without the advanced ballistics module, you will shoot default ACE ballistics - "Changes include adjusted muzzle velocity, air friction and dispersion based on real life values." from the website. ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/
All your tools will still work.
Seriously Thanks for clarification, and for your reply to my other question aswell. I wanted to know for non-ACE scenarios that I play with friends and don't want to edit them every time due to their frequent updates.
No problem!
that was a best tutorial in youtube , but i have problem . my KTragMX display is not like yours , I have no 'reset' , 'update' and 'calc' buttons .. how can i fix that ... thank you
same
hey nice video but i have a question... i have some problems with the zeroing of the scope.. so you said that you adjust the scope by 0.7 to 0.8 mils and than go to the self action menu and zero the weapon! but i dont have this option to do... i have the ace 3 mod + cba! thanks in advance
+Seriously I am doing exactly that and i still dont have the option
Thanks, great guide.
Did Trex really helped you with the video? How did you contact him?
Yes I contacted him via the ace3 slack
@@handelhumphrey8596 nice. What his opinion on Arma?
bar363363 he thinks the ace mod is a great simulator but as you can see he doesn’t play video games.
I need to start uploading again because now I’m applying this knowledge in real life and it’s awesome. Also with the crazy stuff in the world who knows, might have to apply this in a battlefield setting
The 360 training doesn't seem to have AB enabled.
Very nice video
Hey great vid but just wondering where to find the latitude for each map? As I've noticed it effects the calculation for long shots. Thanks.
+Vella Gaming Google search it. Altis and Stratis are based off real places, so are their latitudes. The latitude plays a part in the Coriolis effect over extreme distance. Altis and Stratis are roughly 40
where can i download the mission that u re using for make video? you have popup with detailes meters..distance..target 5/5...ecc..can u leave the link plz?
he's on the map atlis i think it was and also its the mod called ACE 3 thats how he gets everything and he is in editor mode hope anything helped
+Lars Nash (“Tvous”) How do you enable a module in a mission you didn't create?
+Nihilvidz I don't know right now, but I'll see if I can't find out. I actually don't think you can but let me get back to you on that
Thanks. I think you have to unpbo the mission, edit it, add the advanced ballistic module, and then save it. If there's an easier way I'd love to know it :)
hi yeah great explenetion i didnt get how d you put up your range i cant put up my range cuz it puts up my scope wind correction
Informative :) Like your video.
The 360 training doesn't seem to have AB enabled. how to enable this ??
I've probably said this before; the .408 CheyTac zeros at 300 meters.
Oh ok, thanks.
I cant adjust my scope...I checked my key bindings to see if any was interrupting/conflicted and there was none.
map tools are really helpful, too.
just addressing what you said about zeroing and wind. you're shooting a .408 at 100 yards. unless theirs gale force winds coming in wind will not affect the flight path at that range. just throwing that out there.
yeah good point. was pointless worrying. True zeroing your rifle is still necessary though
+Seriously absolutely. I was just saying that the round is traveling at speeds that wind isn't even a factor at 100 meters. great video though. I love the ACE mod.
What range would you advise on testing it then?
You zero at 100 meters because wind doesn't effect it. It gives you the constant for your formula at greater distance when wind/elevation/temperature/barometric pressure/position on the earth becomes the variable.
myron666mosley666 oki doki ty :P
21:30: "Target elevation is *negative* 44 *below* my elevation" So its 44 meters above your elevation? :P
Nice video man! Thanks alot!
Can someone help me?
and yes, I'm kind of new to Arma haha
needs to be in \Documents\Arma 3\missions folder
+Seriously
Which mod/script is it that you are using to see your bullets and your hits on the target so clear?
360 degree training course, link in description
Which button did you use to use those items?
Can the gm6 be used to take out targets like a comm tower or a radar?
you still do sniper training mate?
