What are your experiences with cortisone and HA?

I have hip arthritis and cortisone shots work great, but only for about 4-6 weeks. Will HA work if there is no cartilage left, bone on bone?

@@taropatch9720 I've had some success with HA in bone on bone OA, however I warn patients its less likely to work. I have been surprised however. It's definitely something to try. I also consider a combo cortisone + HA injection as well.

Thanks for this. Really helped me as I've been considering both options.

Dr. I’m going in for my second round of PRP. About 2 years ago I had this done on my elbow, it worked great, so now I’m going to try it out on my knee.

Thanks for the informative and thorough explanation. I'm 78, newly diagnosed with knee OA and in generally good health. Would you have advice, including cautions? Also, curious why these injections are not administered in combination? I wish I lived in Ottawa. Thanks.

i'd start with HA and then if that doesnt work move to cortisone (but also consider PRP)
