That's thanks to it's re-release on PS4 and PS5. I'm hopping that this turn to be a blessing and they finally give us our prequel/sequel.
This game deserved more credit, i think it puts ff7 in the dust, but im bias in this game was my childhood and i never really played ff7, so nostalgia goggles cloud my vision.
I have to say, I'm so glad that Lavitz was used as a disc art character. It made me look forward to what he would do on disc 4 given that's the disc his artwork is on. It makes rose storm that much fitting too.

if you're new to this game and wondering why lavitz sometimes goes by Albert in this video, same name as the king, then you have to get past a certain storyline arc where he changes his name and personality after a very particular death. (No spoilers on what happens to the king plz)
Rose storm is actually so good that it can literally hard carry you through the game on bosses if you are under leveled and not prepared... on top of that, combining this with Merus ability to heal with rainbow breath, and you are practically immortal outside of a few bosses.
Literally thinking to myself how good an Albert/Meru team would be. Especially since Albert can get his max addition super early and basically be at full power by the end of disc 1

Well, maybe no one else will notice.
I came down here to say this as I was watching. 🤐
Having completed this game about 7 times, i can tell you two things. 1. After the 3rd or so playthrough i stopped using dragoons entirely, they are a waste of time, additions are king. 2. Lavitz is absolutely cracked. You can get and master his final addition stupidly early, then farm 00parts outside of lohan for a quick 10k gold, buy the armor from lohan that will gives him 200+ magic def, then stick the bandit shoes on him to bring his speed to 60, making him faster than Dart. He will basically carry you through the entire game at this point.
He's so good he makes the choice of your second ally redundant. I usually go for Rose, sometimes Kongol for a laugh, or Haschel if i'm speed running. Some people swear by Meru for her crazy heals, but meh, i never needed 'em and don't really use dragoons anyway and her additions suck.
Flower storm is the auto-win condition.
Lavitz and Meru were my favorites. I loved Lavitz the most though 🥲

For anyone who hasn't played this game before, I can definitely say you want to make sure Lavitz and Shana are all leveled up, because Lavitz and Shana are both definitely fhe best characters to have with you in the last battle. Mm hmmmm, I sure do love using Lavitz and Shana for the final boss fight.

Lavitz is absolutely my favorite character. I always get his final addition as soon as possible, so he can kick butt as best as possible. Unfortunately, I end up benching him once I get Meru, but until then he stays in my party despite his weaknesses.
While using any magic other than Rose Storm (or Blossom Storm...because reasons) is his best dragoon use, I can't help but absolutely love the animation of gaspless. I just enjoy watching it even if I'll never actually use it in a serious fight.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the characters. It'll be rather interesting to see what you say about them

Well I mean that is obvious. After all three of the ones you have left to talk about are like Lavitz... A.K.A have the hots for Dart. Which is funny because he is the fire elemental of the party and yet over half the part have the hots for him.

Meru likes Dart, but is friendzoned due to age.
Lavitz likes both Dart and his King, but both are unfortunately for him straight.
And those are just the ones centered around Dart.
Meanwhile Kongal over in the corner just wants to smash rocks... and skulls. He isn't picky

Absolutely LOVE Sir Lavitz, I nearly rage-quit my 1st play through of Legend of Dragoon (we all know why) due to how attached I had become, his character and personality are EXACTLY my type too, which did me no favors. Lol

I believe if you had the opportunity to swap dart out of your party, the absolute best party combination in this game is lavitz, meru and haschel. Their synergy is insane and they shore up each other's weaknesses
This is the party we all deserve.
If you play on an emulator and use a mod or play severed chains version of LoD you can swap dart out or even change difficulty of the game. Makes replays much more entertaining.

A good tip for newer players, if you want to max all those additions for them easier, level up harpoon-spinning cane-gust, ignore rod typhoon until either you maxed all those or near end or pass disc one, cause rod typhoon no longer carries a counter with with it for reasons that become clear later on[unless that's been patched, haven't gotten there yet in the new version
The main difference between Lavitz and Albert is that it’s easier to learn additions with Lavitz
In the early game they are one of the best characters to use but there usefulness starts to decline as other characters improve
His attack is high with a high hp but has low speed and magic, the only useful spell he has is rose storm which is actually useful throughout the game
Another advantage he can learn his addition early but they don’t have a high damage modifier
Overall Lavitz/ Albert is great in the early game but when characters such as meru and Haschel start to develop his easily dropped behind

I tried 4 times trying to get the bandit shoes to drop but after the 4th time beating whatever his name is b4 getting the white dragoon I gave up and just continued
Bandit shoes never dropped by any single enemy, its confirmed that this rumor being everywhere due to someone typo bandit ring into bandit shoes in guides. Bandit shoes obtain only in disc 4 in chest of desert. In disc 1 quest to get silver white dragoon spirit, Drake boss drop bandit ring. For a speed boosting item, its way too early to make appearance and it makes all male characters op than female characters starting disc 1.
I do find it funny how kongol joining the party etc isn't a spoiler but lavitz definitely 100% always joining the group and never leaves ever.
Yes Lavitz is my favorite party member who never ever leaves the party because he loves everyone very much and I always use Lavitz in the end game. Lavitz. There are no other characters in the game except Lavitz.

As an RPG player it has bothered me for 20 years that the Wind Elemental spear users was slow and powerful and the Ice Elemental HAMMER wielder was faster. I get that Meru was a Wingly but maybe they should have swapped elements. Wind=fast/sprightly, Ice+sturdy/defensive. Rose Storm's effect could have been renamed to Frost Armor or something, and the AoE healing spell that Meru has could have been changed to like Healing Breeze or Whispering Wind or something. Never made sense the heavy knight was wind element when wind is almost always associated with agility in other rpgs.
one can only pray that all the extra attention this game is getting recently - and the new Mod that is about to come out that promises to enhance it even further: that eventually legal rights find their way to get us a Remake of this game if not even a sequel.
I hope we get a remake or another game in the series one day.

Can you explain how you get these high level additions early?
I never get blossom storm until disc 3 or 4 even if I have laviz and Albert in most fights.
It’s just grinding
Grinding though I think best way to grind without leveling to much is the armadillo monster in the dragon nest forest. That is if you are patient and don't mind a five minute battle. But those things gives physical barrier which cut the damage to zero so when that is up dog pile the enemy with your additions. Also it works great with dragoon leveling as well.
Do you interchange their addition when you get a better one? Because this can hurt your grind BY A LOT. try to use every 80 times before change for the new one. Assuming you're using him at all battles and don't run for random encounters, you'll have his final one before your second visit to Hellena.
Very useful for his nullifying attack magics otherwise he's kinda not that great good at tanking physical hits but not great at taking magic
Lavitz is the best, he's always in my party unless I'm working on additions and his are all maxed

Rose Storm is decent if you're running a low level or other challenge, but the reality is that damage is reduced to 0 if the enemy is dead, which is easily done with other party members
It's easily done with Lavitz/Albert too. He is no stranger when it comes to damage. In fact he deals the most damage for a long time. So rose storm makes it impossible to lose, and at the same time he will dish out damage like no other untill Meru & Haschel can catch up which is late game.

Ill tell ya what, being a kid and playing this I did not care for spells like Rose Storm or anything that boosts or buffs stats. It was always just run and gun and kill em all!.... Which, in hindsight, is probably why this game was so damn difficult for me to beat back in the day. But maaan being an adult has completely changed my perspective especially due to my experience with RPGs over the years. Strategy IS KEY in these games, and I have come to find Rose Storm is an ABSOLUTE Chefs Kiss

Lavitz is a beast early game! Rose storm is an absolute game changer for most of the game.
Unfortunately late game by grinding long enough and getting 3 Casques, 3 Armour of legends, and 3 phantom shields (essentially permanent rose storm) Meru and Haschel are the end game speed based options.
I do however wonder if you throw a rose storm on top of it, does it make you invincible?? I’ll have to try it later on in my play through 😂
if you have a full set of those 3 items you're going to be stupidly strong even if you don't put them on.

If it ever comes to LGBT representation, Lavitz is our best bet. His mother was so eager for him to have a girlfriend when she met Shana but he got awkward and a lil shy about it. Almost like he didn't want anyone to know..
He never seemed interested in pursuing romantic relationships with women. Thus i'd like to think he's more into men (or was just aromantic) even though representation like that was not a thing in 2000.
My character party consisted of Shana/Miranda, dart, and Kongol. Shana/Miranda is essentially broken, especially when you get her to dragoon level 5. Dart is well balanced, and kongol in dragoon form is devastating when doing is dragoon physical attack. I actually been Melbu (last boss in LOD) with just Miranda and spamming her dragon attack and having my other characters revitalize her with Sun Rapsody over and over again. Lol 😂
Is Lavitz broken? Yes. Yes he is. In fact I he was done this way because we want to use him a lot and prefer him. I would say that early game, speed isn't bad tbh and magic defense is fine because most of the enemies uses physical. And when that scene hit, it hits hard and we feel it as a player.
Later with Albert, Albert isn't as broken because after that bit with Lavitz, enemies uses more magic. But Albert is good but not as good as Lavitz.

I'm guessing you grinded the heck out of lavitz to get footage of him before heading back to save albert because I still haven't unlocked some of the additions or spells he can use yet

i'm can't wait until you get to Kongol because some people say he is the worst character but he ahs helped me alot with bosses becauseof his high hp

@@tantacles I have played legend if Dragon For many years.i find each character is good at One thing except Dart who is like the middle of pack in terms of most things. Kongol is what I would call a tank High Hp And with legendary clasp and phantom Shield tanks everything but Can't combats. That's how I play Kongol .

Most the time I have to use Kongol and pandemonium just to grind Meru because she such low Hp.

He's almost as balanced a character as Dart is, his slightly lower magic defense isn't a huge detriment to him like Kongol that loses 3/4 of his health from any magic attack.
With the exception of Faust, i never saw such a extreme attack on Kongol.

I will take the Lv13 milestone for the two characters to compare because this is the Level that Lavitz will get and will master the Lv5 Flower Storm addition, as well as Shana also just got Dragon Spirit to train to Lv5 Dragoon.

First, I will talk about comparison conditions. We can see that Shana and Lavitz are two characters that follow two completely different schools of strength, so in the comparison process, errors and omissions are inevitable. So my assessment is only for objective and reference factors, 😁, hope you guys understand and ignore it.
Next is about the monster I used to test the two characters. Because the two characters have two different strength directions, I also chose two monsters with different defenses to compare fairly.
The first monster is Mandrake (Water) appearing in the map Nest of Dragon. This monster has very weak physical defense, so I will use it to test Lavitz mainly.
Def 60 and M.Def 120.
The second monster is Crocodile (Water) appearing in the Marshlands map. This monster is the opposite of the one above. It has strong physical defense but weak magic resistance, so we used it to test Shana.
Def 160 and M.Def 50
I chose these 2 monsters because they are Water type. This Water system will not make the magic attacks of both characters weaker or stronger during the test for a more accurate comparison.
The first is with Lavitz:
+ Attack Flower Storm on Mandrake: 389 Dmg.
+ Gaspless attack (With Special) on Mandrake: 297 Dmg.
+ Attack Flower Storm on Crocodile: 146 Dmg.
+ Gaspless attack (With Special) on Crocodile: 711 Dmg.
Next is Shana:
+ Attack White-Silver Dragon (With Special) on Mandrake: 363 Dmg.
+ Attack White-Silver Dragon (With Special) on Crocodile: 873 Dmg.
I didn't count Shana's physical damage because it's too weak. Only take 150Sp for 1 normal shot to transform.
Through the comparison, we see that Shana's damage is always 20% higher than Lavitz's, but everyone can easily understand that Shana spends up to 80Mp to perform White-Silver Dragon magic, so we must use this magic very limited. And 100% of people will agree with me that we only use this magic with Boss battles ==> So most of the time playing the game is about going through the Map or training the Level outside the monster field. Shana is really LOSE FROM Lavitz.
But that's not why you can't look down on Shana. We know that the White-Silver Dragon magic also has another effect of RECOVER 100% HP for all three characters after dealing damage to the target, so Shana is like a guardian angel of the party when always in charge. Safety is very essential.
In addition, with two other magic, Moon Light and Gate of Heaven, it also makes more sure for Shana's support position in the squad as Shana can always revive one or two members back to life after they have just d.i.e.d before.
And that's all the advantages of the Dragoon transformation that Shana has in Disk 1. It's simply "EXTREMELY STURDY AND SAFE" when Shana is in the squad and especially in Boss battles. SHANA It's true that the character was born just to fight the Boss!🤣. And think about it... Right from Disk 1, we got a character with such a powerful magic assassin and such comprehensive support until the end of the game that you can see it when you trust her. How useful she is during the process of playing and exploring the game, right?
And because I'm only comparing at Disk 1 here, I still don't have 2 items to help Shana become a full-fledged magic attack character. So the STRONGEST position in Disk 1 is definitely for the muscular guy Lavitz.
I will say bye to Shana now and talk about Lavitz, Lavitz is really poor men ❤️ because he will soon d.i.e when he completes the mission to rescue King Albert in Helena map. But in return, the game maker gave Lavitz a lot of favors (a lot is more than ) when he got Final Addition VERY EARLY and more specifically, this Flower Storm move is one of the ultimate moves not only extremely strong in physical damage but also useful for Lavitz when it gives him 200Sp so he can freely transform into Dragoon as well as train to Lv5 Dragoon extremely easily.

Well, I haven't mentioned the benefits of Lavitz in Dragoon form yet. In addition to the huge physical damage, the magic damage is also very respectable with the Gaspless magic dealing 75% and if there is a Wind element environment to support it, it's even better. And most especially in Lavitz's second Magic, Rose Storm, when this magic helps himself and two people around him increase by 50% armor for 3 turns. @@baijelleo4366 Not for Star Children or Moon Light it isn't and it's better than using a Sun Rhapsody to restore your MP. If you're training then Shana isn't beating things with her physical just lowering their health and most mobs use magic when lower on health.
You can't get 150 or 250 MP on disc 1 (unless using new game+ glitch which doesn't work ps4/5) otherwise I would have mentioned Platinum Collar or Mage Ring.
I always preferred lavitz than Albert. Lavitz was a beast with it🔥💯🗣️

Erm... he's 34 (according to the official Japanese guide), Albert is 26 and lost his father when he was 6. He was Albert's mentor, polearm teacher, and companion. Though he's a "confirmed bachelor" he wouldn't have abused that position. Albert is obviously head over heals for Emile.

I wish it was more convenient to level up characters in the game. Like I wish characters could have like a hidden dragoon lvl up thing when using them normally cause dart for me is always at lvl 2 by the time lavitz gets his dragoon spirit and then pretty shortly after you then have to be like do I want the goat healer and magic item user Shana in the party for her very helpful and cheap magic spell access. But then maybe you wanna get a head start on haschel once he joins since he's so good in mid and late game so you also probably wanna prioritize him some too.
Also I remember rose being so much better the last time I played the game. Like astral drain does so little damage she doesn't do that much damage is really squishy. I remember her being way stronger.
Dragoon levels are based on SP gain, so use high SP generating additions to level dragoon fast. Rose has high initial stats and low stat growth rate, so she is really good early and falls off as your team grows.
Well, level almost means nothing. What is important on this game is your equipment and additions levels. That's why we only gain experience by defeating bosses or the blue/rainbow bird.
He has the best dragoon magic spell but gets destroyed by the Haschel and Meru duo, he's probably the most useful after them in a normal playthrough because of his additions and said spell.
Theres so many errors in this video from the speed up, to the arrows pointing to wrong stats lol

@@tantacles Dont worry, as an alternative I'll provide a different build : Dragon helm to bump up his already high hp, therapy ring to regain it, and the taunting item used to draw fire and boom. youve got regen tank. Also works for kongol, and since the taunt is turn based its fine for them to stay slow

3:14 kinda wrong there. The stat boost increases for all stats as you level the dragoon up, at D'Lv5 you get 170% AT boost.

I played most of the game with a personal vendetta against Lloyd. Everything else was just an obstacle towards getting to him.
For real, not even my teenage girl penchant for black clad pretty villains could save him from wanting to shove that sword right up his poop chute
I also REALLY hated that tournament fight against him because I wasted so much damn time trying to beat his ass because I didn't know it was an impossible to win the first time.

Honestly lavitz would get one shot by spells so often i got tired of managing him. Dart/meru/kongol is peak.

I still hate that they killed lavitz. But his death scene was great and then to see him and fight him on disk 4 was fantastic. And as a final act before he dies again he creates a way for you to continue on to save the world. RIP lavitz

I actually wouldn't use rose storm/blossom storm as dragoon magic, simply because it is too broken. Makes the fights too easy.
So in essence I think lavitz/albert is probably the best character, even better than Meru just because of that spell. It makes it impossible to lose really.
But even without it Lavitz/Albert is quite strong, better than Kongol, Rose, Shana/Miranda and Dart I'd say in human form. But surpassed by Haschel and Meru.
For me it goes (if allowed to use rose storm):
1. Lavitz/Albert
2. Meru
3. Haschel
4. Dart
5. Shana/Miranda
6. Rose
7. Kongol
And if not rose storm:
1. Meru
2. Haschel
3. Lavitz/Albert

Is there a community trying to revive this game cuz I haven’t seen so many videos of LoD like this. But I wholeheartedly wish they would remake or give a sequel. Side note give all characters additions though. I’m not a fan of her not having additions. Give the healer a rod that doesn’t look like a Meru hammer or Albert lance

Lavitz doesn't have Rose storm. His lvl2 spell is called Blossom Storm. Granted he SAYS rose storm when using it but it doesn't become rose storm until you get Albert. Ironically though, Albert calls Flower Storm by the name Blossom Storm.
Everything that you are telling us is almost pointless considering that he dies before you leave for tiberoa hense he dies before fletz and is replaced with Albert so how could you use any of the tiberoa items or eqiptment on him

Is it just me, but when I levelled properly, LoD is super easy and no boss fight was a problem.
if im not mistaken rose storm is tied to lavitz's turns, meaning that it doesnt matter how slow he is. actually the slower he is the better because then you get more turns spent in -50% dmg mode
