I love how John Legend is so engaged with the conversations. He really listens word for word and he soaks it in.
Shut up
He is like one of my best dreams
I have so much respect for him, as he depicts himself as a person first and an artist second although he's an EGOT he sure don't act like it
@@supreme5580 Wow! Very talented!
John Is insane humanist lol
All of these musicians are so softly spoken ☺️ yet their vibe and impact is so loud
LET S NOT FORGET PRINCE & THAT SPEAKING VOICE SO SOFT
Musicians have to be quite so they can create. Or so it can be easier for them to create. Especially song writer's..
Strong people don’t lead by ego.
Great point. The quite, soft spoken ones, are the reflective ones. The ones that observe and intake...and then speak, except maybe JT lol.
Musicians?
All play instruments?
Jesus, Tori and Sting's songs are so damn heavy. Takes a lot of experience to handle those topics so artfully.
I like this host so much more. She let them speak and don't interrupt the people.
Ironically, she stepped down from her position and gave that position to one of those two male hosts from the previous interviews. variety.com/2017/biz/news/janice-min-out-hollywood-reporter-1201979092/
Well they need to get her back. She brilliantly lead the discussion and asked great questions. Once again the people with the money show how far their heads are up their asses.
Amen! She was brilliant at facilitating an interesting discussion between the artists we wanted to hear from instead of dominating it like that awful English host.
The other great female moderator, Stacy something... left THR as well. I wonder if it had something to do with not getting the good opportunities despite being much more capable than Galloway and co.
If only Justine would let Tori speak
Alicia's one beautiful woman.
Wish I could like this comment a million times...
Even without make-up. She's a natural beauty!
She is such a beautiful soul.
Keyes will go down as a Queen, and one of the greats! great episode! any one wanna write a song with me?
agree!
Alicia Keys doesn’t need to wear “makeup”. She is absolutely beautiful-inside and out! 💕💕💕
Pharrell was LIVING for Tori's beautiful words.
I think the interviewer had more questions, but rather than prioritizing the questions over what they had to say and letting them just speak, was the best choice. And I think she understood that, so she probably just decided what the more interesting/important questions to ask would be. My favorite interview so far.
the best interview I´ve ever heard in these roundtables, by the way what´s her name?
@@maryaccentidiomes6414 Janice Min, as in: Belloni wrote, taking over her position: “Very excited for this new challenge, big thanks to @janicemin for, well, everything.”
My favorite kind of interviewer. The guy that sometimes does the round tables likes interrupting and I get so annoyed by it. What gems are we missing when he cuts people off?
watch Tori Amos and Sting spend more time listening than talking
Wisdom is friendly with age, and is far less fond of youth. Youth is more eager to express what it knows and what it's all about. I don't know how this was cut, but I notice how Sting just bides his time and finally spoke up. I'd like to see those two interviewed more at length. (By the way Sting has had an Oscar nominated song or two, also.)
They are easily the most experienced people at the table - musically and life-wise. But they are humble and eager to hear what others say.
It's called maturity and wisdom because they've heard it all before
@@adsensedd well they are the oldest there....
Cause nobody else showed respect😂
Reading the title: Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Alicia Keys and more... and then seeing Sting at the table is pretty confusing
That's because you're not a millennial, ie: you actually know who Sting is.
I had to laugh when JT was trying to make the Trolls movie sound deeper than it really was😂
Alicia's one beautiful woman.
Would love another roundtable with Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, David Foster, Baby Face, Diane Warren and Max Martin
I have no idea why everyone in the comment section is hating on JT. He’s a legend and most of these artist have publicly said they respect and admire him and his work.
Tori Amos is an absolute goddess! Justin Timberlake gushing, "Man, that album changed MY LIFE!" (re: "Little Earthquakes"), as he blushed with humility and adoration, was a moment of beauty.
@@fuchsiasfusionshow tf would you know? Y’all pick any reason to attack this man and it’s TIRED. Buncha bullies.
My heart tightened every time Alicia smiled. She's just so unbelievably beautiful.
She has a fantastic smile.
Yup. But in my case, wasn't just my heart that "tightened"
I know I'm genuinely surprised how pretty she is with no makeup! Easy to do no makeup if one is that pretty.
Relatable, have a nice day. She always speaks with passion and it's inspiring.
She resembles my cousin like crazy!
I had to laugh when JT was trying to make the Trolls movie sound deeper than it really was😂
I don't know... As a parent, you do search out entertainment that has some lessons and context and Trolls did a good job of telling the story about unlikely friendships and coming together. It might just be that the movie was deeper than you recognized.
and I'm completely, utterly, sincerely….sure EVERYONE at the table thought the same thing although it may had been a fleeting one...lol..like his point.lol
Did he even mention that Max Martin, and Shellback co wrote the song. Mega hit maker Max Martin.Guess I must have missed that. I wish I got credit for suggesting the tiny amount that Justin contributes to the song writing process. Will the day ever come when he writes totally be himself. I wont hold my breath waiting.

I just love the way Tori and Alicia look at each other throughout this whole interview. Their connection is so beautiful to see
When Tori Amos raises her voice in this conversation the vibe in the room changes.
Didn't it!!? Interesting...
She can definitely command when she wants.

I would LOVE to see more roundtables with people from the MUSIC industry!!

I could stare at Alicia Keys forever ... so beautiful.
i skipped only to watch her smile
Then she speaks. Mind blown, beautiful brain and soul to match her exterior.

Alicia's one beautiful woman.
Tori's speaking voice has to be one of the most calming things I've ever heard 🥺🥺
Woah.. singers are more serious than actors!
they're not the vessels, they're the creators. they have to access creativity and produce. actors have to tap into something else to accurately portray a certain character in the right way. makes sense that these guys seem more serene and insightful
+Mvntis. Yup you are right. That explains it.
Mvntis well said
Totally agree. Singers are like actors. They have to put forward a feeling and emotion to accurately get the song across. These are artists at this table. These are songwriters and producers who sing. Big difference.
@Reub C and @Seba Zeb thanks!
I'm rolling my eyes every time Justin talks and I like Justin lol
🤣🤣😆😆😂😂🤣🤣😆😆😆
Justin Timberlake looking around like, "I probably shouldn't be here."

They need a booster seat for him at this table.
And in that way, I can relate to his jitteriness, impostor syndrome innit.
I love Pharrell talking about having an optimistic view and championing that. He’s gifted in that area. It’s beautiful and needed.
Oh my god, Tori has such an aura about her. Just such a golden energy. I love her.
She’s a fairy!
Omg yes agreed, sometimes beautiful people just shine.
She seems really depressed though, poor her.
I know. It made me so happy that Justin loves her as much as I do. Everyone at the table loved her by the end of the roundtable as well. Those dimples radiate positivity.
Hmmm…… it’s u for me
Alicia's enlighten presence, Pharrell's intelligence and Tori's vulnerability stands out in the group of famous musicians.
How y’all have Sting there and don’t let him speak for 10 mins in to the video... he should be the first one y’all ask a question
Only discovered this video now after three years. I love Sting, Tori, and Alicia...was so inspired by their minds. Would love to see more of these, maybe one with film scorers. Imagine having Danny Elfman, Alexandre Desplat, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Howard Shore, or any other great film scorers, there are so many out there.
YES I would love that
Great idea.
Probably the best roundtable yet.
JusticeBlackened Well, at this generation it is, however I'm 54 yrs old. So, I have seen some greatest music artist in my time!
Watch the one with Jeff Bridges = Phenomenal
she meant that this might be the best interview, not the best Musiicians ;)
Little Earthquakes was a life changer for me, too. Synchronicity, too. I love hearing artists stand in their integrity. Beautiful.
Its tough to express as a guy, but she really had an effect on me as well. I heard little Earthquakes for the first time I was 14. I came from a totally destroyed home, drugs, abuse, etc. I had been recruited to a high school for my athletic ability (though I was very smart as well). Add on I never had a mother (she died in childbirth in 1980). She was the first female that ever spoke to me on a real level. When she sang "First my left foot then my right behind the other" I felt like an angel was out there and understood how it all seemed so fake and how lightly I had to tread. Of course she wasn't talking about my situation, but someone out there was seeing it in their own way too. That empowered me to follow my heart.. not to mention everything else she wrote.
Within 2 years I'd quit all the nonsense and transferred to an art school. I found myself and though I never got famous or made a million dollars, I learned to love myself. And it wouldn't have happened without Tori.

Justin and Pharrell fangirling over Tori is gold🤪
Tori so eloquently sits and listens to everyone speak and contribute. When Tori is finally asked a direct question, within seconds Justin interrupts her with a comment about himself.
It's giving Narcissism
It speaks volumes about each artist’s maturity. I kind of feel like the reason Justin couldn’t shut up throughout this entire thing is because he had a lot of anxiety. He looks very nervous to me, and some people just talk and talk and talk when they are nervous.
I wish I could have heard more from Tori and Sting in this Roundtable
The older you get, the more you just listen.
Ana Barajas...I think it’s quite telling that the elder two had the least to say.
I also hated the complete disregard for Sting by the interviewer, then saying Pharell and John were the biggest stars on the table! Like bitch, do you even know anything about this man's career?! She seemed really ignorant to be honest and not one of the better hosts.
The Sufi M.D Exactly some of these interviews are oblivious to who they really have at the table

I think this is my favourite roundtable discussion for the year. These artists have a very calming presence,....at least for me they did.
Thank you THR for putting this one together.
There are also some seriously awesome quotable quotes from this group of artists, more so than from any other artistic groups that sat around the table.

RoLayne Flo ya it's pretty cool that none of them have any thing to prove and also they are involved with a different industry so they have to be humble and listen

I respect Pharrell's mind. He's such an intelligent, spiritual aware individual. 👌
I agree 100%. And he was going over a lot of their heads with some of the things he was saying. Alicia and Tori were kind of understanding it, but John Legend was looking at him like he grew two heads.

All excellent musicians and songwriters. Sting, the musician with the largest body of work here, so humble and doesn't say a word for 11 minutes. Such respect among every one of these artists and a great example. Wish they could each talk for an hour at this table.
It was rude that she did ask Sting first about when was the first time he started having an admiration for music.

Love this conversation and come back to it from time to time - and I’ve come to the conclusion that JT loves to hear himself talk. I love how they’re each so confident in who they are and therefore their vision. Tori Amos and Sting receive some deference but for the most part, each artist shines through. Interestingly, the male actors convos are openly more insecure. I love all THR conversations. Love this host.

Sting had that same face.
@genelle .ge You're reading into her facial expressions your own bias. I'm quite CERTAIN she respects all the incredibly talented and wonderful artists she's sitting with. It's one thing to idolize an artist you love, its quite another to ascribe your silly idolatry to their thoughts a feelings. I respect Alicia's anti-make up stance, and the reasons behind it. Genuinely, I do. I do think it's a little easier to take such a stance when you're incredibly naturally beautiful. Just wanted to make that point. Still, overall, lots of respect for her.
Dylan Blue yeah, me too! I'm a makeup artist (a certified one lol) and I always thought that I had to use makeup everyday. She showed me that's not the case!
Dylan Blue my problem was that she only did it once she got rid of her acne and her skin was clear. I wish she had talked about that when she talked about why she stopped wearing makeup.
Dylan Blue she does say though beauty is different to everyone and make up is still beautiful she isn't bashing women who wear it she is just expressing her true self think that's important
Dylan Blue I respect the message but truthfully I don't respect her movement because I don't think it's genuine. Alicia was proactive spokesperson who dealt with acne for a long time, I would've respected it so much more if she would have done this back then.
Babe With A Stack well it's not as if people are fixed in a certain mentality all of their life. Not that she's had her fair share of success she probably doesn't care about endorsements and other things
