The purpose of this comparison is just to show the all new Lexus model and the most iconic Mercedes Benz SUV! Most likely no one is cross shopping these two because of the price difference, but you get very similar SUV's even with the price discrepancy.
The 2024 Lexus GX550 is an all new SUV from Lexus that has that boxy look, a luxury vibe and several trim levels including two that are more offroad focused! The Mercedes Benz G Wagon is the brands most iconic SUV! Everyone knows the name and while it's a cool SUV, it's not quite as functional as a practical SUV especially comparing it to the Lexus!

Both are great luxury options, and for the vast majority of people, the Lexus will be sufficient and a lot more reliable!!

How do you which is more reliable or better off road? You have the reliability data and off road comparisons?
Yeah really!
In general, Lexus has been number one with Toyota for decades in reliability, that’s a fact.
As far as off-roading, there’s are more suited for overlanding and not hard core off-roading, would probably be similar.
@@MercOne All I know so far, all the Merc will break down at some point around 100k miles. If taking G wagon off-road, it won't last a round trip lol.
@@MercOne G-wagon owners will not be taking their vehicle off road tho. So you won't see any data about G off roading as well.

My GX Overtrail recently arrived, and I love it! My father is a G-Class buyer so I have driven 2 and loved the quality, but was never really comfortable in the interior. I feel too confined.

Pick up the Lexus next week here in Australia. If I had money I would go the g wagon in 6 cylinder diesel

My OT+ just hit the docks. But yeah, the Benzo all day. I honestly wanted a 4 runner but TRD Pro going over 60k pushed me towards the 550 OT+ for 30 percent more. You get more than 30 percent in almost every way with the GX over the 4 Runner. The G Wagon is amazing but not 100 to 150% more amazing. Maybe one day but the GX is dope and fits my needs for half the chili.
The GX is definitely a sweet SUV! If the G wagon was the same price, I'd still go GX, more space and more practical!
The G-WAGON still ❤ robust and powerful compared to the GX550 LEXUS which need to be upgraded again 🎉.
Mercedes G is pretty sweet! But the GX is way more affordable and still awesome
GX 550, but Over Trail with the EKDSS , skid plates, 4 wheeling tech and Toyo off road tires is the bad boy in town.

I just need Lexus to upgrade the interior. I would love the v8 that’s in the LC in the GX550 then that would be a great comparison to the g wagon.

Ima Toyota fan and am shopping GX, but I wish they offered more color on the interior and also for the Overtrail plus and luxury plus I wish they had the panoramic opening roof, also more wheel options, not looking for 22’s.

3 locking diffs for twice the price? The center and rear locking diffs are all you need. The 83k overtrail plus is the best deal and reliability
Lexus finally nailed the design for their off-road SUV. I hope they will make a V8 soon! All of their other crossovers look like garbage. I would prefer the tried and tested G Wagon but not at their current price. Therefore, I am veering toward the GX550. Landrover Defender, however is another formidable competitor that should have been included in this comparison.
Tow rating is 9,096 on the Lexus. Price range $64,000 - mid 80's

Merc has the heritage that the Lexus doesn't have at all. Weather you like it or not the Benz will just sell hence they can push the price like that. If it was me if rather buy the Lexus load it up with some options and get the RC 350 with a sunroof and the upgraded sound system as a mini GT car. 2 for the price of one
The Lexus GX definitely has “heritage”, the Gx is a very popular suv that’s been around just as long!

yeah the G63 is a beast! GX550 is still so good tho even close to half the price of a basic G550
Back to 2019 you have to pay extra GX550 to get into the G waiting list.
