The issue with the G-wagon is that it's driven pretty much exclusively by douchebags, and mobsters in Eastern Europe. It's a cool looking car but whenever I see one I get a kind of visceral reaction because of this

Of course a G Wagon fan. But can't afford one. So, Toyota Land cruiser is something I will go for. No I will not buy a TATA JLR suv. Unless Land Rover Defender (short wheel base) allows option to buy with toyota engine and transmission 😊 and makes it affordable for a common people.
That G63 AMG with professional package is the epitome of uselessness :)))); anyway, the 463 deserves all praise mainly because of its unicity, the way it perfectly blends luxury, off-road prowess and the solid engineering.
I find Mercedes interiors chintzy and gaudy these days. The interior of the G wagon just doesn't match the exterior at all. Give it the interior of a 60's unimog and it would look great. Disclaimer: I grew up banging around in an early Land Rover lol.
Driving comfort is very very good in my 2019 G550. Every passenger falls asleep within ~30 minutes. The new gen 2019 with a V8 is probably the best deal ever, at ~$100K USD.
Thomas, I'm a Mercedes-Benz owner-driver (25+ years) so I've driven most of the Classes. I took a G-Class for a test drive once. Der Geländewagen ist sicherlich ,,Panzer gebaut".
I’ve driven the G63 and G550 cross country here in the states and it was fun but not the most comfortable. Has Mercedes fixed the random windshield cracking issue?!
@autogefuehl There seems to have been two camps in the windshield crack victims: >1) A stone impacts the glass resulting in a crack - makes sense. the upright nature of the windshield doesn't allow debris to skip off and there's a obvious impact. >2) The ones I experience were seemingly random cracks out of no where. I mean you could be driving slowly, no stones to the windshield and then you glance over and there's a decent sized crack. It also happened when I went over a bump on the highway (nothing too jarring) and boom there's another crack. I thought it was bad luck but going on Benz message boards showed that others ran into this as well. Both times for me the cracks appeared on the passenger side in almost the same place 🤷♂. Some suggested theres an inherent tension in the windshield due to how it's seated in the frame or perhaps some twisting in the body induces it (I don't think there's much twisting in a G frame or body) but no one really knows for sure. Owners have tried putting a layer of screen protector type material to help avoid windshield damage/cracking but the results are very mixed. But overall the truck is very enjoyable and the side pipes on the G63 are pretty sweet.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ua-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/v-deo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ua-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/v-deo.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: ua-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/v-deo.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: ua-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/v-deo.html More and more natural materials are rising: ua-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/v-deo.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: ua-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/v-deo.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ua-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/v-deo.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. It is the most iconic all-terrain vehicle of all time, it has stood the test of time quite well, this update looks very impressive on the street, nothing like it on the market, but I agree with Tomas, being so square it should not be very aerodynamic One day I got into one and despite it being a luxury war tank, when I closed the door I was disappointed since it is too flat due to its original design since 1979, there I realized that it must not be so comfortable for the cost. What it has, it is true it is more of a car to show, or for those who drive offroad routes. Greetings!!

Steering wheel looks very nice.
Anything that Thomas review, I'll make time to watch it. lol!
cheers bro !
Yine mi 585 artık bu yeterli değil
Brabusa yönlendirmek için böyle yapıyor
Of course a G Wagon fan. But can't afford one. So, Toyota Land cruiser is something I will go for. No I will not buy a TATA JLR suv. Unless Land Rover Defender (short wheel base) allows option to buy with toyota engine and transmission 😊 and makes it affordable for a common people.
That G63 AMG with professional package is the epitome of uselessness :)))); anyway, the 463 deserves all praise mainly because of its unicity, the way it perfectly blends luxury, off-road prowess and the solid engineering.
For those with more money than taste
Then you have no money and no taste, very sad😢
I find Mercedes interiors chintzy and gaudy these days. The interior of the G wagon just doesn't match the exterior at all. Give it the interior of a 60's unimog and it would look great. Disclaimer: I grew up banging around in an early Land Rover lol.
I actually much prefer the G500 look to the G63. I mean shoot, give us a G class diesel 6 cyl in the US, and I’d be happy with that.
I’m so happy I went ahead ordering a loaded 24. Arrives next week with current steering wheel😊 and IWC clock. I’m a very happy camper.
Strange how Germans don’t sound like they’re summoning a demon when they speak English.👀
Look mummy a dinosaur
Love your videos guys. It would be cool to see you test the new suspension btw
thanks we will !
The diesel g class with the off road package
G450d would be my pick of the lot.
Driving comfort is very very good in my 2019 G550. Every passenger falls asleep within ~30 minutes. The new gen 2019 with a V8 is probably the best deal ever, at ~$100K USD.
Lol
Thomas, I'm a Mercedes-Benz owner-driver (25+ years) so I've driven most of the Classes. I took a G-Class for a test drive once. Der Geländewagen ist sicherlich ,,Panzer gebaut".
Great watch for Russian mafia, so they get the low-down on the latest drug-mobile.
I’ve driven the G63 and G550 cross country here in the states and it was fun but not the most comfortable. Has Mercedes fixed the random windshield cracking issue?!
thanks for your feedback!
Oh tell me about this issue?
@autogefuehl There seems to have been two camps in the windshield crack victims:
>1) A stone impacts the glass resulting in a crack - makes sense. the upright nature of the windshield doesn't allow debris to skip off and there's a obvious impact.
Thanks for the report!
@Siracheetah G550 is a better overall value and a little more relaxed
4:25 that sounded satisfying
The front lip is too fat, but the G-class still looks nice otherwise.
Beautiful car but when you sit in rear, your height is definitely confusing 😁
Oh no! ‘Animal Skin’ How will Thomas survive sitting in such seats? lol
A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ua-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/v-deo.html
And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: ua-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/v-deo.html
New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: ua-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/v-deo.html
More and more natural materials are rising: ua-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/v-deo.html

For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ua-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/v-deo.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest:
www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html
In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter.
We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

Aww i didn't know she is a woman behind the cam. She's very good! ❤
🙏🙏
This car literally came out a few years ago and youre telling me there has been a facelift already?😮
This generation came out in 2018. That’s 6 years ago, some manufacturers release a new generation entirely after 6 years xD
So awesome! I will get it one day
yeah its a must, i dont care.
💪🎼🎶🚙🤩👍
😂 First Time from Việt Nam
..thank for Engsub
From Japan. We enjoyed.
Great to see beautiful Lea in the forest.
when will the driving review come out?
also, I thought we wouldn't see any update to the G-class until the new electric version (EQG) comes out!?
We will soon present you the electric G-Class and after that, a driving review where you guys still have to pick in advance if we should review G63, G500, G450d or electric G
is it too much to ask to review all 4 versions?😅@@autogefuehl
yeah that wont be possible neither time-wise nor vehicle availability wise sadly
Thomas we need a G65 AMG with a V12!
Thank you Thomas for a fantastic overview!
Really impressed with the numerous technical improvements in this mid-cycle enhancement while keeping the G’s iconic style. Well done Mercedes! 👍🏼
cheers m8 !
Can mercedes give one amg g63 4×4 2025?
Why would you need launch control in a car like this 😅
We're living in times when G-Wagon is borid :>
Facelift no. 182. I would never go for factory mat paint. Normal paint and clear mat wrap is much easier for maintenance...
I like G class (non-AMG) but I would never drive it because of it's clientele.
Why do they do that. The new 2025 model in 2024.
Someone stole Shmee's G Wagon.
Shmee is a schmuck hate him
No more IWC built in watch? Hmm
This new steering wheel is not fitting well with G63
If the new active ride suspension delivers and the G63 is not anymore dangerous while cornering , then the new G63 will be a hell of a package. You get the flex , the cool factor, the V8 and you wont have to drive it like an old lady. Lets see....
In my country, this car has doubled the price 😢
Why does it feel like an advert and not a review
That blue😍
That new steering wheel is freaking ugly
Am I the only one who doesn't like this car
You are not alone
Yes
Yes
Yup. This is the best all round vehicle available today, period. If you don’t have one, one likely don’t understand.
@@Fluterra you got me there, I’m not going after its capability but less than 1% actually go off road, it’s just a status symbol and it’s completely impractical compared to anything else that is a quarter the price for what it will be used for
I think this is the correct "Thomas" blue right? For me G-Class + 🔵 =💙
hehe yes
It is the most iconic all-terrain vehicle of all time, it has stood the test of time quite well, this update looks very impressive on the street, nothing like it on the market, but I agree with Tomas, being so square it should not be very aerodynamic One day I got into one and despite it being a luxury war tank, when I closed the door I was disappointed since it is too flat due to its original design since 1979, there I realized that it must not be so comfortable for the cost. What it has, it is true it is more of a car to show, or for those who drive offroad routes. Greetings!!
Only Mercedes model that they dont fucked up. V8, manual button, & real exhaust
Something about it looks off
Dear Thomas,
Whilst the Land Cruiser 300 is not officially sold in the EU, they are legal to import and certain German off-road sells them.
Make a review of the Land Cruiser 300-series happen!!
We got this: ua-cam.com/video/qaquksFzqZA/v-deo.html
Thank you Autogefühl and Thank you Mercedes! ❤
cheers m8 !
What would be super cool is if they released a poverty spec. Less luxury for under $80,000.
Excellent review...awesome vehicle.
Wow, I wanted the new E53 AMG... but this/that is pretty awesome. It is a boring box, but crucially, it is a boring box with large amounts of visibility and I miss that in cars.
Hilariously I also love those door closing sounds. :)
It looks like a Mercedes-Benz
India 2nd like
These G- Class are so played out🤢
Lovely in blue, not a fan of the G, nor matt paint. But.... this looks wonderful !
What happened to the cattle guards?
It is also tax deduction in USA
I love this car so much, it is my grail vehicle. Currently daily a 22 GLE and I don't think I'll ever stray away from the silver arrows after owning it. They are on another level
ehh...finally to see how the back seats are falling flat!!! Does this apply to all G classes? If so this will be my next car 🚗
How have they not put better seats in back of this by now. Over 150 grand and you get a park bench for a back seat.
Great review 👌
cheers !
Good news is almost everyone wants animal skin

So in 2025 they’re calling the g550 the g500?? Where did g500 come from??
Europe naming G500, US naming G550. Same.
@@autogefuehl thank you!
I would love if another car company made an affordable G Wagon shaped car
This car is total nonsense.
