I haven't even finished the video yet but had to comment. This is quite possibly one of the best and most thorough videos explaining each and every step for basic maintenance which is EXCELLENT. Everything from what to do with the old parts to how and where to jack up the car is perfect. Thanks so much for putting this video together.

I want to thank you for making this video. I'm a 60 yo widower,
Who lives next door to a widowed woman in her 60's who has one of these 2014 jeep.
She, like me is on a fixed income, and can't afford the shops to do this task.
So, I'm going to do it for her and I just wanted to make sure I don't do anything wrong.
    Once again, thank you.

Wasn't I glad to see your face when I clicked this video, been watching you're other channel for a while always informative with my research. Wife just purchased 2016 Grand Cherokee, getting ready to do first oil change and wanted to see what I was in for with Jeep. You showed a very simple process in great detail. So happy to see you will be around for this car. Best of luck with this channel.

I finally got a chance to change the oil in my 2015 JGC today. I found your video awhile ago and favorited it so that I could reference it when/if I needed to. I was able to get all the necessary tools before the job (especially the socket for the filter housing). I'm not new to DIY oil, however this was the first oil change for my JGC (first vehicle other than a Honda). I appreciate you taking the time to put this together. It really helped me out.

Great video; really good instruction. Many thanks. This is my first Mopar with that cartridge filter. For the 2017 Pacifica, the cartridge filter is on the passenger side of the engine midway to the back on the top of the engine. 24mm socket on ½ drive racket with 6" extension. There's a trap door on the under carriage to access the oil pan drain plug with 12mm bolt head. ⅜ drive ratchet with 13mm socket or 13mm box end wrench. Thumbs up for your vid!

Awesome video. I inherited a 2012 jeep grand Cherokee from my grandmother after she passed, and it sat for a couple years before I could get it on the road again, but it’s a great vehicle still. This guide was super helpful and made the oil change easy as pie. My dad did the work of course lol (bc I’m a millennial and i work with computers for a living) but this video cleared up the questions he had about the Jeep, so thanks for your work!

BSG thanks for showing how its done, easy to follow. Getting ready to change oil first time on 15 grand cherokee 3.6 114k miles, had 1 week now and have 6 qts pennzoil high mile ultra plat 5w-30, in summer where average high 90 then back to 5w20 for the cooler months. Don't have a mopar oil filter but have a a-c delco, should be good 3 to 5k miles.

Great video. One tip, if you don't open want that rush of oil to splash all over the place when you first take the drain plug off DO NOT open the filter housing or oil fill plug before taking off the drain plug. After you open the drain plug then open the fill plug and housing. Also Mobile 1 full syn FTW.

Great video. Just a quick note: you can scroll through the menu on the dashboard after you reset the oil life monitor to get to the oil life screen. When I get down to 33% oil life, that when I change my oil. I use ramps instead of jacks just because I feel safer that way, but jacks are fine. I've been using Penzoil full synthetic and with the filter it costs less than $40. An oil change place would charge $100+ and try to upsell me everything in the book. And forget about what the dealer would charge.

  • @SiccSideKali4Nia209

my only comment is that instead of letting the engine drain for 5 minutes you can also use some of the new oil to fully drain all the old gunk out. i normally use 6 3/4 quarts in my ram with 1/4 qt of lucas oil additive. the 1/4 of oil is what i use to assist in the draining. seems uncommon but i find my vehicles always run very smooth and i like to see the plug hole drip clean oil vs dirty gunk before its plugged.

At 6:46, you can let it drain longer, but consider also that if it is a windy day, then that wisp of oil may also blow all over the driveway regardless of how carefully you cave positioned the drain pan. Tradeoffs with any decision.

If you live near Brian in the Chicagoland IL. area you should give him a call for your automotive needs. He is an awesome mechanic. I have been a fan of his for a few years. His UA-cam videos have helped me tremendously on my 2004 Ford Explorer. I just wish he lived near me in the Long Island, NY area.

Great vid thanks. Would my 15 GC be the same as this GC? Also I have 40k on it and am thinking of going to the Penzoil platinum full synthetic. I tow a boat quite a bit over the summer and people seem to think full synthetic is the way to go. Also they say you can go about 10k on a oil change, just watch the oil monitor system. Thoughts?

Full synthetic all the way. Chrysler reccomendations are shell helix, castrol, or pennzoil. Pennzoil has had a bad rep with using waxes in there oils but think they strayed away with there newer formulas. Mobil 1 isnt "chrysler certified" because of a pissing contest with all the buyouts even though jeeps were factory filled with mobil 1. I fill with mobil 1 and use either a wix or mobil 1 filter. Use a good oil filter wix, mobil 1, mopar, k&n etc. dont use cheap filters..fram etc..doesnt last as long, isnt as good construction, sometimes even breaks apart and doesnt filter well. People change synthetic oil based on owners manual or preference which range from 5k-20k miles. Hope this somewhat breaks it down. Alot of information out there but as long as you change your oil timely and filter youll be fine.
