- You need a 13mm socket for the oil drain plug, and a 24mm socket for the oil filter. A drain oil container, a funnel, and a rag.
This engine here in the video is a V6 with 3.6L, and therefore i used 6 quarts of Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W-30 motor oil with an original Mopar oil filter insert MO-744. This should be good for 15k miles or a year, whatever happens first.
Jeep tells you to use 5W-20 with MO-744 oil filter. It also states in the user manual that you can use 5W-30. If you want to use a Mobil filter, the number is M1C-455A. Be aware of the fact that Jeep/Chrysler was using this filter only between 2011 and 2013, the 2014 and newer models have a different oil filter!
The oil change warning message was on?
Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine. Depress the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times within the first 10 seconds of turning on the key. Turn ignition off, and the message should be gone.
I had the oil Mobil 1- 5W30 tested at Blackstone Laboratories at 58198 mi , and that was 10,277 miles after oil change. That means the oil was running for 10k miles.
Here is the test result summary:
This is a good first report for your 2013 Jeep. Universal averages show typical wear for this type
of engine after ~6,100 miles on the oil. You've gone longer than that on your oil (10,277 miles) and your
metals are still well within the average range. You didn't say you're interested in extended use, but you
could run longer without a problem if you ever wanted to. No fuel or coolant was noted and the TBN read
2.8, still plenty of active additive left for a longer run. The air and oil filters are working well (see silicon and
insolubles). Nice Jeep!

I want to say this was the most organized, clearest video demonstration ever. Thank you very much for your outstanding work!!! You definitely delivered excellence!
Absolutely brilliant. The clarity is out of this world. My college professors should’ve taken a couple pages out of your book.
Thanks! Made my first oil change in the new Jeep easier.
Thanks for the video. Will you please advise what is the part number for the engine oil filter?
THANKS! Great video!
Thank you so much. This 45 yr old woman is off to change her oil
Are you single???
@@watchthis401 😂😂😂
Thank you very much
Good job
Thank you ...
Thank you!!!!
those damn plastic clips on the oil filter break VERY easy, especially mobil 1 filters. be careful. i went through 3 yesterday, luckily only one clip broke on the last one and it stayed in the housing
never had that happen. were they cold?
@@mygiguser one was, the parts store let me exchange, I popped it in at the store, they broke again, another exchange, it fit, then I got home and pulled it out to double check there wasn't a broken clip floating around, and another clip broke lol. Luckily it stayed in the housing so it should be fine
I heard its recommended to put a little oil on the rubber gasket as well. Whats your thoughts on that?
that's ok. there is oil n that hole anyway, it is not completely dry anyway.
Does it matter if I lift up the car from the left or the right side? Thanks.
+Nicky in Vegas Lifting the driver side up worked best for me.

Mobil 1 is not certified to be used in a Pentastar 3.6 motor. It does not meet the motor oil certification for Chrysler MS-6395 That is your own personal preference to use that oil.
slap nuts that’s fine with me.
No Crush Washer?
i used the old one , it wasn’t crushed...
So you said 5w 20 but you put 5w 30 why is that sir
Jeep says to use 5w20, and it is possible to use 5w30 (in the manual)
you posted 5W20 on the screen and filled with 5W30 on the jug ^^^
jeeprider 99 they are both ok. 👌
Your caption said 5w20 but you poured 30? You
Jeep recommends 5W20 and Mobil 5W30
It depend on your engine. 3.6 or 5.7+
Always put 6 quarts in never get that out. No leaks doesn't burn oil been to dealership they can't find anything wrong
how long do you have the oil in there, of course it needs to burn some oil over time. If it doesn't burn anything, then you have an issue.
You're out of your mind if you think that will last 15k try 8k and that's pushing it.
You can change as often as you like. Nobody is holding you back.
Just FYI I had the oil 5W30 tested at Blackstone Laboratories at 58198 mi , and that was 10,277 miles after oil change. That means the oil was running for 10k miles.
