Why are these demos always some Blues dude, testing out a pedal for Metal guitarists by playing geriatric Blues licks/riffs, though? This isn't the MXR Billy Gibbons pedal.
@@RozsaAmplificationLLC I hate it. I have no doubt they're competent players. But as a Metalhead, I'd sound pretty out of place trying to play Jazz. So I'm probably NOT the guy to review a Gibson L5, for example.
It sounds like you have the guitar volume at 3 or so. The pedal doesn't have much output. About 1/5 of a blues driver volume. I would swap out a few diodes for better sounding ones. Maybe some germanium transistors and do some serious tweaks to that thing.
it could be that they used the stock 10k pot for the volume thats bleeding most of the volume to ground when the opamp is not set to full gain. if you put in a 100k-500k volume pot it would have much more volume at lower gain settings
Mxr says RR dis+ was stock but this one I have watch a lot of videos on it sounds like a tube screamer I have one of the original script dis+ pedals on my board and it sounds just like RR but I will say you should do another video with a eq after the dis+ with a mid swipe and see if that helps at all
Was 169.99 when it was released. But they're all sold out given it was a limited release of 3200. Now people are selling them for 4 times the price on reverb.
They claim to have faithfully recreated the Distortion+ pedal that Randy used, but how true is that? Did they include any rare parts in the circuit? And why on earth is it impossible to find one available for purchase anywhere? Where did people even manage to buy it?😢
I got one, but I had the release day on my calendar and ordered it at around 6:00A EST. I think they were gone by around noon that same day. Limited number of units is also part of it. I think there were 3300 made?
@bonejester I ordered mine immediately after I got up yesterday morning, then got greedy and ordered a second one because I found a small retailer with a few still in stock. All 3,200 were sold out by 7:30pm, CDT.
First of all, you got the settings backwards Randy always had the volume at 10 and then distortion of four, and use the distortion of the amplifier also would sound better if you were using your bridge pick up I mean seriously bro..neck pick up?? lol
I have one unopened . I wanted to see a good demo of it on youtube and if i liked it,id keep it,but i have not seen a demo video where i liked the sound of this pedal . I know Randys sound was a combination of many things, but as of what ive heard demo wise, it doesnt live up to thw hype. Ill stay hopeful that someone will have a great amp, guitar, gear, to make this pedal sound like it should sound. If not, ill sell mine
Get the new UAFX Anti 1992 pedal instead. The possibilities of Toans are endless…from Roads to EVH, Dime, Nuno, Muse, Metallica, Tremonti, plus many more.
This dude also isn't using it the way it's meant to be. It's meant to boost an amp and shred. Not play dimestore ZZ Top. I swear, every reviewer is either a Death Metal poser or a wanna-be Blues player.
Yes, this demo video does present the pedal in a different context than other demo videos; I’m sorry that it wasn’t what you were looking for. Feel free to watch one of the demo videos that features someone using this pedal exactly how Randy Rhoads used his Distortion+…I think Jim Dunlop Co. has a demo video doing just that, and there are likely a bunch of others, too (in fact, I think most of the other demo videos for this pedal do it that way, so there should be plenty to choose from). Or, even better: listen to the recordings where Randy Rhoads used his Distortion+. In my opinion, Randy Rhoads has demonstrated his preferred usage of the model for this pedal-and demonstrated his sound-better than anyone else ever could, and so that’s the best example of a Randy Rhoads-style usage of this pedal (or the one it was modeled after) that you’re ever going to find. Ever. In light of that, I made this demo using first a clean solid-state amp, and then also with a slightly dirty tube amp, so that people can hear all the other applications that this pedal can be used for. It is not a one-trick pony, and it saddens me that so many people can’t seem to think beyond the polka dots on the pedal casing. Get creative, folks…we are artists, after all! Think outside the box, try something in an unconventional way…you just might discover something incredible, or even just something that’s simply excellent for a particular application. Much more importantly, though, you’ll likely become a more well-rounded player. This demo video is for people who want to get a better idea of what this pedal would sound like in other applications, besides the already-well-documented case of Randy Rhoads’ usage. Most people seem to get that, but there are a worrisomely high number of folks that seem to maybe even take offense at this video because I’m not simply duplicating Randy Rhoads’ set-up, settings, and sound. My advice is to try expanding your comfort zone a little…your playing will most likely benefit from it! And one last thing: something isn’t “very very bad” simply because it isn’t tailored to your specific situation, or because it doesn’t fit the limited image that you have of it in your mind. If a video seems to completely miss at meeting your needs, and you weren’t invited to view it by the creator, then there is a very good chance that it wasn’t made for you at all. Cheers!
I know it’s hard when there are things in a video that don’t occur in the first few seconds, but if you skip ahead to about halfway through the video you’ll find the section where I demonstrate the pedal through a tube amp. I wanted to have a demo video that used both amp types, but I have to present them in series rather than simultaneously…and I went with the solid-state amp first. Rest assured, though, there is a demo of this pedal through a tube amp in this video. You could also have read the video description, where I talk about playing through a solid-state amp first and then a tube amp. Good luck with your musical pursuits!
I fully respect the fact that this is done without talking. Cheers alone on that
Finally a demo
Probably got to post videos about it when it actually reached august 20th

@@FortressofShred ...and on a solid state amp...a JCM800...or using EMGs!! :O
People excited.....but tools. Use the correct gear guys. Geesh!

You sound good I just ordered mine can't wait it's gonna go directly into a marshall origins the pedal sounds amazing this is the second video I see
Where did you order it from? I would like one too.

for real. sheesh
Why bother? Just buy what you want.
No, it needs to be into a cranked amp with a crunch overdrive from the amp. It's not for a small practice amp
it could be that they used the stock 10k pot for the volume thats bleeding most of the volume to ground when the opamp is not set to full gain. if you put in a 100k-500k volume pot it would have much more volume at lower gain settings
Sounds like it has a little more drive and fuzz than the original. Probably less noise. I answered my own question. Must buy one soon!
What I want to know is: Is the circuit quieter than my newer MXR+ and does it suck less tone!?
Randy used eq with the pedal.

I wonder how much it will cost?

Wonderful demo!!
Randy could've made a Boss Metal Zone sound like a full stack. It's cool but it's all in the player.
Sorry not blown away at all.. doesn't sound like the Randy that I know
Definitely worth the thousand bucks up for those scalper prices 😅

I reckon it would sound better through a Marshall 1959 with x2 412 cabs.

Just like a mxr regular pedal but thinner sound yukkkk
Sonunds like a modded Distortion +. Which is to say IT SUCKS.

Cool but not great.
Very very bad demo. Sorry 😰
You should have put some bit of gain in your amp and used this Distortion + as a gain boost!
