Hadn’t realized how long it had been since I’ve listened to Randy riffs until I watched this. Great playing, I thought you did his riffs justice, especially loved the Revelation Mother Earth solo. Granted I’m listening through You Tube compression and all, but I thought the plexi sound by itself sounded amazing by itself, LOL, so I couldn’t really tell much difference with the pedal. I’m sure it sounds great in person though. I will never know, as I was not one of the fortunate few. I didn’t even know it was a limited run until I started seeing them on Reverb for 3 to 4 times the cost. Absolutely hate that 💩.
Thank you ever so much for watching and enjoying the video, I had an absolute blast learning all these classic Randy riffs and solos. Yeah that Revelation solo is magic, love all the trills. It really is a shame to see people price scalping these pedals on eBay and reverb, I hate it when people do that too, it's just not fair! I guess the regular MXR Distortion pedal is always available (the yellow one) or for a similar price you can pick up a vintage one on eBay etc which would have been actually what Randy used, but yeah I was so lucky to get my order in one day one, was well worth the wait. Thank you again for enjoying the content and taking time to chat, I will make more videos with the pedal at some point 😎🤘

Thank you ever so much, glad you enjoyed the video, loved playing all these classic Randy solos and riffs, and really appreciate the subscribe, hopefully more Randy content on the way soon 😎🤘🎸
I've been working on Mr Crowley. It's just outside the limits of my capability and is keeping me very busy (and slightly frustrated at times), but it'll be worth it in the end.
Such a fantastic solo, both of them! Yeah his solos are always trickier than you think, especially as the speed he blasts through them. What I love about the first solo is all those great D minor pentatonic repeating licks, so iconic. And the second solo which is my favourite with all those trills and legato, absolutely awesome, thanks for watching! 🎸🤘
I saw RR play with OZZY 4/23/81 MOTORHEAD opened and on one song RR played a Hamer Checkerboard Explorer, i have never seen a picture or a word mentioned about this guitar until recently a guy said he had also seen that guitar on that tour, and actually went and bought a Cort Checkerboard Explorer to play a guitar like RR had.I was wondering who used that style first as when i saw Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick with one i said wow thats the guitar RR played.
Wow that's awesome, yeah when I think Randy I always think the yellowed Les Paul custom, the Jackson Concorde V and the Polka Dot Karl Sandoval V, never seen him on an explorer ever. But yeah Rick Nielson would have been the first person I would have thought of with that style of guitar, I wish there was more videos and photos from that time period, but luckily people like yourself who were lucky enough to experience Randy live keep his memories alive and well. He's just as relevant and loved now as he was back then, I had a load of fun recording this video and learning all the classic Randy riffs and solos, thank you for watching and sharing your memories! 🤘🎸

It's an absolutely fabulous pedal, is yours definitely 1528? As that's what mine says in the booklet, hopefully that's a typo otherwise something odd has gone on with the numbers! Either way love mine and really enjoyed making this video, thank you for watching and enjoy the fabulous tones from this pedal! 🤘🎸
Thanks for watching, yeah I wasn't sure if it was a JB or Distortion, a lot of the information online is conflicting ahaa I think it was Dimarzio Super Distortions in his Karl Sandoval V too? But yeah thought it was a good comparison against the Les Paul too, hope you enjoyed the playing! 🎸🤘
@@AndyDoveGuitar last I'd read his Sandoval has super D's in both positions and his two jackson V's also had super D's in the bridge position, but his Les Paul had the factory T Top pickups in it. That one was basically stock, except for the addition of the brass poker chip and the engraving of his name on the pick guard.

Thanks for this nice video ! Amazing playing ! Just a few questions : what speakers did you use and what are your amp settings for this nice tone ? Thanks !
Thank you ever so much for watching and enjoying the playing, really enjoyed learning all these iconic Randy licks and solos! And great question, so on the marshall Plexi my settings are Presence - 10 Bass - 6 Middle - 10 Treble - 7 Loudness 1 + 2 on 10 It's jumped also so I'm plugging into high input one, but the other input one is plugged into input two with a small patch cable. I should mention I'm using a Quad Cortex to do that, as even with the 20 watt Plexi I own and you may be able to sometimes see in the background of the video (blue amp) it's bloody loud and so inappropriate in a house ahaa but it's the same exact settings I use every time that I use as with the real amp, just with it being digital I can have it at a sensible volume and so easy to record too, I take two XLRS out into my interface with zero post processing. So it's the pedal into that, and that's it. I used a digital delay for the lead parts for a bit of ambience. If you want to know the speakers I have set up, it's a split signal, left side into a marshall 4x12 with Alnico Creams and the right side a Mesa rectifier 2x12 with vintage 30's, it's a pretty perfect set up for me and I absolutely love it. This Les Paul has a very dark tone so it pairs great with the bright Plexi settings! I am planning a video in the future when I buy a MXR 10 Band EQ etc to book studio time to use all analogue gear, with two 4x12's and a real 100 watt Plexi etc etc everything as close to Randy as I possibly can to see if that'll get me closer and again it would be the same settings I've used in this video, but that is something that needs no neighbours to test out ahaa hope that information helps you out, this pedal sounds fantastic into a crunched up marshall, and I loved making this video, thanks for watching! 😎🤘

The pedal really is noisy and adds lot of low end so you’ll need the eq to dial that out. I think a reverb and delay is ideal to nail his tone as a gate. Beautiful pedal
Thank you so much for watching, yeah it's a great pedal, I really enjoyed making this video and playing all the classic Randy licks. Yeah I'm hoping to pick up the MXR 10 band EQ at some point in the future to help shape some tones, so I'll aim to make a second video when I get that! 🤘🎸

Thanks for watching, TC make fantastic pedals, I'll have to check that one out, not sure on the pricing tho, mine was £184 which seemed totally fair for a signature pedal. Loved learning all these classic Randy Rhoads solos! 🤘🎸
Hi Andy..first of all congratulations for your playing! Really awesome and great feelings. Today I tried mine pedal.. Is it normal that with both knobs at 12 it's almost off? With this setting it doesn’t sound! Volume starts with knob at 13/14. Thank you Matteo
Not sure this pedal was worth it. Its basically at Distortion + with a new paint job in tribute to Randy. Basically a collector's item more than it is a practical piece to a pedal board. Just get a Distortion +, people. You're not missing out on anything here.
Thank you for watching, yeah I was pleased to have been lucky enough to grab a pedal before they sold out or going for silly prices on the second hand market. I knew what I was getting into with it being a limited edition pedal, and to me it was totally worth it to have one, I loved learning these classic Randy Riffs and solos. That being said at least the normal Distortion Plus is out there and readily available for anyone inspired by this pedals sound.
@@dochealgoodabsolutely, picked mine up at a very fair price, couldn't deny that paint job and being a huge Randy fan I was happy paying the price for the limited edition pedal. I see them going for silly money on eBay now sadly, shame that happens, mine was brought to enjoy. I may pick up an old original pedal in the future as it could make a cool comparison, thanks for watching 🎸🎶
When I got mine it was very reasonably priced, I don't agree with the people selling them on reverb/eBay at silly prices but yeah I was happy enough getting mine from the shop on release day. Thanks for watching, if I ever pick up an old original pedal I'll make a comparison video 😎🤘
It really is a huge shame, I don't understand why it was such a short and limited run, the buzz about the pedal online has been huge, people still adore Randy's playing all these years on after his passing so they should have known how much reaction this pedal would have gotten! I hope they find a way of making more in future even if it's a variation on the paint job to make it less of a limited edition run, Fingers crossed. I have spoken to Kathy Rhoads since making this video and raised all these points, so we shall see what happens, thanks again for watching! 🎸🎶
Sadly that's the issue with a small production number of pedals unless you want to pay silly prices on the second hand market! But yeah it would be great if they ever made another batch, but if not there is always the regular distortion plus pedal readily available at sensible prices, or even vintage ones available on eBay like he would have actually used which are still cheaper then getting this pedal, worth considering if you like the way it sounds, thanks for watching 🤘😎
@kunkmiceter couldn't agree more, the whole process was absolutely silly really, I must have been waiting a year since it was first rumoured, and so many let downs on it, again I'm very thankful I did manage to get one, but yeah with the amount of demand for the pedal, it surely would have made sense to keep pumping them out, so more can get into the hands of people who really want them rather then price scalpers or people who are just keeping them in the box! It's a great pedal and designed to be turned up and rocked! 🤘🎸

Great playing!
@@jonhaworth2692 thank you ever so much, had a lot of fun making this video and playing all these classic Randy Rhoads riffs and solos on this pedal, thanks for watching! 🎸🤘
good job, sounds awesome
Thank you ever so much, love how this pedal sounds and had such a great time filming this video playing all these super Iconic Randy Rhoads riffs and solos, glad you enjoyed the video! 😎🤘
mine was 1528
such a great pedal
It's an absolutely fabulous pedal, is yours definitely 1528? As that's what mine says in the booklet, hopefully that's a typo otherwise something odd has gone on with the numbers! Either way love mine and really enjoyed making this video, thank you for watching and enjoy the fabulous tones from this pedal! 🤘🎸
@@AndyDoveGuitar My fault its 1510 ahahah
I think Randy had SD Distortion in Concorde bridge, but JB does the job as well, just little different but not too much.
Massive Randy Rhoads fan this video made me pick up my guitar and play Mr. Crowley 😂 brilliant stuff thanks Randy ... i mean Andy 😉
Absolutely love that, it's what it's all about, having fun and getting inspired to play. I had a lot of fun relearning all these classic riffs and solos from Randy, what a fabulous player he was, thank you for watching! 🎸🎶
@@AndyDoveGuitar you totally nailed it man, not easy to do so I tip my hat to you good sir 🎩
@AndrewMooreLearningLicks thank you once again, yeah these solos are always trickier then you think. You really have to give them your all for them to sound right too, love Randy's playing, such a genius! 🎶🎸
@@AndyDoveGuitar I had a TC electronic Mimic sound doubler and it was ok for live but nothing sounds better than recording the same track 2 or even 3 times and hearing the insane results
@AndrewMooreLearningLicks yeah I had often wondered about picking up the Mimic pedal, seems like a cool pedal, but like you say the magic comes from doing it the old fashioned way and hearing those slight variations between the takes! 🎸
finally got mine today woot!
Oah awesome, have fun with it, glad it finally arrived safely, I loved mine and had such a great time filming this video 🎸🤘
Nice! I've got a Gibson les paul custom pearl white 83! 🤘
@@papablue3015 oah nice, such incredible guitars, absolutely love mine, those Tim Shaw PAF's sounds fantastic, loved learning all these classic Randy solos! 🎸🎶
@AndyDoveGuitar I bought mine new in 83 1000.00 dollars with a chainsaw case! It's in great condition! I always played my junky guitars because it was so beautiful!
@@papablue3015 love the chainsaw cases, yeah I have mine with the blue interior, mine is sadly missing the Gibson badge on the front of the case, but apart from that it's rock solid and I love it. Such an incredible guitar too, I use mine heavily, my main gigging guitar and I record with it all the time so it's had a hard life and aging beautifully! 🎸🎶
Thanks for this nice video ! Amazing playing ! Just a few questions : what speakers did you use and what are your amp settings for this nice tone ? Thanks !
Thank you ever so much for watching and enjoying the playing, really enjoyed learning all these iconic Randy licks and solos! And great question, so on the marshall Plexi my settings are
Presence - 10
Bass - 6
Middle - 10
Treble - 7
Loudness 1 + 2 on 10
It's jumped also so I'm plugging into high input one, but the other input one is plugged into input two with a small patch cable.
About time!! 🤣🤣
@@higgyonbass ahaa Honestly man I've been waiting well over a year and a bit since the pedal was first announced, can't explain how great it is to actually finally have one, loved making this video, great to see people enjoying the playing! 🤘🎸
Got one, makes you wanna put extra in your playing... Idea was to try it out but I am afraid i will keep it....
@@niceguy6325 that's what it's all about, love this pedal and it the perfect inspiration to get re learning all those classic Randy riffs and solos, have fun with it and thank you for watching! 🎸🎶
I actually prefer your thicker fuzzy tone to the record versions.
Really appreciate that, yeah it's such a great sounding pedal, absolutely loved recording this video, thank you for watching! 🎸🤘
Great playing man! Is that current edition of the nightswan and does it have the 24.75 scale?
Thank you so much for enjoying the video, and yes it is the current reissue of the guitar with the 24.75 scale length, I absolutely love that guitar. If you'd like to hear it more/know more about that model I made a review about it last month, I'll drop the link below if you are interested, highly recommend them, thanks again! 🎸🤘

ANDY DOVE, try to make 10 habits Randy Rhoades uses and do lesson. He often will use chromatic notes to make his riffs and licks sound eerie
@@waynegram8907 oooh that's a great idea, yeah love his trills too like in the Mr Crowley solo I played, would be a fun video, I'll definitely look into that idea soonish, thanks again for enjoying the video 😎🤘
I've got a TC ELECTRONICS Dark Matter. I paid $40.00 for it. It does exactly what this pedal does. For $500 less.
Thanks for watching, TC make fantastic pedals, I'll have to check that one out, not sure on the pricing tho, mine was £184 which seemed totally fair for a signature pedal. Loved learning all these classic Randy Rhoads solos! 🤘🎸
Hmm... I've got one of those too... I'll try that! Thanks!
It could be piss yellow ... long as him names on it .... its onbthe list .....ty sir !
@@richardfagen1186 I have a piss yellow one actually more mustard lol a 1978. Real deal MXR (before Dunlop) Same As Randy's original.
Hi Andy..first of all congratulations for your playing! Really awesome and great feelings. Today I tried mine pedal.. Is it normal that with both knobs at 12 it's almost off? With this setting it doesn’t sound! Volume starts with knob at 13/14.
Thank you
Matteo
How's that pedal sound through the mini Jube? That's the amp I'm working with. nice playing!
fuiyoh !!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for watching, love this pedal! 🎸🤘
Fuckin awesome Andy 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@Ned-ke3ui thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video, yeah I had a lot of fun with this one, thanks for watching! 🎸🎶

Thanks for watching, loved playing all these classic Randy Rhoads riffs and solos! 🎸🎶
why not get a real one for 1/4 the price?..they are EVERYWHERE
The regular version was the same price as the Randy version, when I ordered mine. For the same price, why would you get the regular?
It's too bad it is out of the hands of 95.5% of guitarist.
Can't get one now so who cares. 😂
@AndyDoveGuitar After all the delay on that pedal, to make such a small amount of those was unbelievable.
