For me the DS-1 was always the one, but Randy used these so I have respect for the sound. I think there is a Ywingie version of this now too, as well as the Randy version.
I would like to ask you two questions. 1) I have an MXR Dist+ Script Logo (the reissue, not the old one), I use it with an Ibanez Jem 555 and a Marshall SC20C Studio Classic (JCM800 with 20 or 5W) (using the high input): when I use Dist+ with bridge humbucker all works good, great old school metal tone, but with neck humbucker (huge Dave Murray fan here! =D ) which is a Dimarzio Evolution, sounds terrible! It's almost a fuzz tone, but in the wrong sense, it seems a broken radio! Maybe Dist+ Script Logo is not compatible with Evolution neck, I don't known... So I would ask you how sounds your Mxr Dist+'s with yours neck humbucker guitars!? I'm searching for a creamy lead tone (Murray-ish tone) for legato soloing... 2) Related to the previous question, I see a lot of old players used a 10 band EQ AFTER the Dist+ at that time.. So maybe they had my same problem, I thought, and used the EQ to overcome it...? Do you know, also Dave Murray used an EQ and a Dist+ with Marshall (super lead maybe or MV) in his old pedalboard...
So i think the sound depends which Amp you use. I tried it with am JTM45 and that works well. I know the Distortion + can sound fuzzy but in my setup it worked very well. I havent tried it with an EQ but i think thats a good way to shape the sound and get rid ot the hard treble.
Randy used a D+ for lead boost ,his rhythm tone was overdriven marshall with stereo and 10band eq ect if your neck pickup is muddy try a 0.47 capacitor inline with the neck pickup if you still carnt get a good rhythm sound try something like a Joyo R-03 Uzi High Gain Distortion pedal ,i have used two delays one slow one long to get a double tracked randy sound .
I had one back in 1976. Great pedal
Definitely a great pedal with a unique sound

Merci pour la démo.
I had one way back, before it had an LED. But I thought it sounded crap between my crap LP copy and a stupid little practice amp. Live and learn.
I like it, its simple, just 2 knobs, I have the MXR Badass distortion and I love it.
Yeah it is simple and it has the raw, vintage distortion sound
🤘
cool
Suicide solution well done not many play it on here

@@chrispedaldemos thank you for the answer

Far more head room through a clean amp than Ds1
What's the signal chain?
I used my JTM45 Amp with an Greenback IR. I turned the treble on the amp down a bit because the Pedal can get bright when it gets loud.
@@chrispedaldemos Nice, the pedal really works for that amp!
If I show up with this, they will laugh at me
Why?
Who's 'they'?
