I was at Randy's penultimate concert, in Atlanta, in fact, front row. I was unaware of who he was but immediately took notice. Without the internet, we were often unaware of band member's names except the very famous and Randy was a newbie. Tiny little guy that played metal like we had never heard before. Yes, Ozzy picked him up like the cover of the Tribute cover. Only a couple of days later and he was gone.

I remember walking home from my 12th grade in high school when I heard some kids talking about Randy dying in a plane crash...it was March 19, 1982...I remember that day exactly!!!!

Not only does this guy nail the tones like record quality dead on, he does Randy justice playing his songs and I don’t say that lightly Randy’s rhythm and lead work is some of the hardest to play and to play it like he does is amazing I count this video as a full Randy tribute
I was fortunate to see Randy live at the Cow Palace with Ozzy in San Francisco before he died. I literally cried watching him play. I’d never seen anyone like him and I still think he was Ozzy’s Angel to some degree. He pretty much resurrected Ozzy. I was in a heavy metal band at the time and went to a lot of shows big and small. There were very few who could cover any of his music at the time. Great video! Great playing! The day after Randy died I literally wore all black to school. I will always love him and revere his talent. Thanks for sharing this!
It hit me hard when I heard about Randy’s passing. I had just seen him in concert, in Corpus Christi, Texas a month before this happened. He was the reason I took up Classical guitar lessons while playing Heavy Metal on guitar. Imagine all the music he would have contributed to us if he were still alive. Rest In Peace Randy Rhoads. 🎸🤘👍
I had the pleasure of hearing Randy Rhodes play live in Dallas a few months before his demise. He is without a doubt one if the greatest if not the greatest metal guitar players of all time. He's a legend that will live in infamy. I'm 57 and I still enjoy Randy's works of guitar genius with Ozzy Osbourne.
Randy was just insanely driven and studied rigorously, constantly practicing and taking lessons while touring with ozzy on different spots around the nation. Soaking his hands in ice to calm the swelling down from marathon sessions. Such an inspiration and taken too soon. RIP

First of all, awesome skills man, absolutely spot on. Secondly, im 54 years old now, i got Ozzy's first 2 albums the day they came out. Still listen to them now, both still awesome albums, 2 of my ultimate favourites, i'll never stop listening to them. Randy and his ability on the guitar was and still is a continual source of wonder and inspiration to me. Ive been playing guitar for 40 years now (scary!) and even after all that time playing i dont have a 10th of your ability! Keep it up dude! Oh and im coming to Peach Guitars at some point in the future when this corona thing gets done, and when i do i want to shake your hand for doing such justice to Randys tunes/playing. Randy was my inspiration to play guitar. That sound he had was incredible. I own a plexi reissue, and a Jackson RR the same as the one you are playing. The signature “fine print” is his use of Altec Lansing 417 guitar speakers (12”). They have an aluminum dust cap and don’t distort until you Marshall reaches 11. IMHO that’s what gave Randy’s guitar that “raw” sound. Nothing like it anywhere. No one uses those speakers, that I know of. I have 16 or 17 in various cabinets, including Marshall 1960’s. Using Celestions smooths out the high end, which is what most players like. But, Randy’s sound was more raw, and in your face, and I think that’s how he did it. Randy never knew how much he changed rock and roll. Very few artists can turn the music industry in a different direction by themselves, as Randy did, setting up all that hair metal from the 80’s. BTW you play him very well. I haven’t seen your other vids but... I’ll check them out. Only the good die young. R.I.P. Randy.

Fantastic playing. Absolutely wonderful. I want to note that Randy's live tone was always so much better than his studio tone for one reason or another. Also, the original Jackson Rhoads V was called the Concord and featured a much higher neck joint that Randy wasn't a huge fan of. You can still get your hands on them, but they were quickly modified after their first run to be more true to the version we get today. The famous ivory and pinstripe prototype was technically a concord version. Just my Randy nerdiness coming out. Absolutely love this video and will definitely be referencing it in the future
Awesome job, man. You really do have a lot of his feel down. He played with so much emotion, even when he was teaching all of us students back in the day. He never just started playing. There was always a vibe or a feel to it that pushed it over the top and made it so signature to him. At least that's one of the things I remember. It was a long time ago, however. Funny thing was that with all the gear he used with Ozzy, and how meticulous he was, when he was with Quiet Riot originally, he had a really crappy Peavy Amp with an Ampeg Cabinet (I think). He had an actual tape Echoplex and had a Distortion plus with the writing in script on top. He insisted that it sounded a thousand times better than the one with the block letters. Of course who the "F" knew back then as most of what you heard was just rumors. But, I went out and got one none the less. Anyway, thanks for keeping him alive in our thoughts. I think about Randy a lot and it's been 40+ years since my last lesson!
Wow. The tones were great, but the playing. Whewww. There are a lot of videos about Randy's playing/tone out there. You nailed it dude, FANTASTIC playing. All the harmonics, bending the power chords, palm muting the lead runs, just everything was spot on. You were feeling it and having fun, that confidence pours out of the speakers. Great video and much respect, probably the best video on playing like Randy. A lot of guys try to analyze it and break it down, but what's the point if you cant sound like him lol.
I just happened to find this by accident and am sure glad I did. I love Randy. I can't think of anyone else I've heard play his music as well as you do. Don't be intimidated by his pristine style. If anyone can capture it to the best of their ability it's you. I"ll be back to listen again.
I'm from outside of Knoxville TN, every concert I've seen at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville I get chills knowing that's the last place Randy's guitars and amps at full power played there final notes, its almost like the energy of that night still lingers and resonates inside there. For me its Hallowed Grounds.

After the concert began Randy drew my attention and i was just blown away the entire show and i had seen lots of bands and guitarist prior to this including Eddie Van Halen. It was like look at this guy, unbelievable, if you saw him live you saw the raw talent he possessed, second to none.
Wow, that was a great 20 minutes. Shows how loved Randy is that all these years later, he has people like you trying to replicate his sound, and fans like me loving to see/hear anything Randy. Great job you did too.

Weird mood today! Had a dream last night that my twins both left home for university (in less than 5 yrs), then I realized that this means that they aren't not coming back home to live with us after they graduated. I was actually crying while i was sleeping. HAVE BEEN A WRECK ALL MORNING STILL! Watching you play RR licks beautifully, makes me sad again as I realize that we will NEVER seen guitarists like him or EVH ever again. BOTH were HUGE to me in my life!!! All this loss is just too much to handle today for some reason. Oddly enough, I'll probably resort to listening to both these guys for the rest of the day to make myself feel better. I'm bawling my eyes out now as I type this. Weird, right?!?!?!?!?!? I can't remember feeling so empty in YEARS! Thanks for the wonderful tribute/memory of a true genius...

I was blessed to have seen Randy not once but twice at the ages of 14 and 15, respectfully. The last time being his very last show here in Knoxville. It was such a unique sound as was EVH. It influenced so many guitar players it seems quite mundane to those who weren't alive at the time.
Randy and the Tribute album were one of the biggest reasons I started playing guitar some 20 years ago. I’ve been thinking about getting that particular Jackson, and this definitely made up my mind. The tone was unmistakable to me.
That Gibson Les Paul was such a work horse for Randy. So versatile. This video is really well done and really captures the nuances of Randy’s playing. Pretty obvious this guy has studied Randy in great detail. I can still see the place I was when I heard on the radio Randy had died. Randy’s death had a profound effect on both Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge.
Thank you for paying Respect to MY absolute favorite guitarist PERIOD! I played drums until I got THIS album for Christmas at the age of 12 and that’s when I put down the sticks forever.
I am a major Randy Rhoads fan, and I wanted to take the time to compliment you. I think you did a great job recreating his tone. I got into rock music a lot later than most. I grew up in a town that only had AM radio stations, and MTV had yet to be created. It wasn't until high school that I was exposed to rock. I heard "Back in Black" and it blew me away. I asked my friends what album to buy next, and a girl named Sunshine said, "You should get Ozzy's albums". I had no idea who Ozzy was but I bought "Blizzard..." and "Diary..." I listened to them that same day. Those two albums changed my life. I wanted to be a professional musician and play that kind of music because of the music that Randy Rhoads created. His solos on "Mr. Crowley" are so beautiful they almost bring a tear to my eye.
As someone who’s been a randy freak since I was a kid, i’ve never seen someone nail his playing so well. There’s so many small nuances and attack that alot of guys miss.

Yep.. that solo is FIRE🔥 I've gotten pretty close to pulling it off a few times myself, but not identical to Randy. the harmonics and feedback.. it's impossible to cover it 100%
Thanks for the choice & brilliance fantastic presentation and delivery I was in a local sundry store one night and picked up a copy of Circus magazine Towards the back pages it mentioned this new album from Ozzy who made a solo album just mentioned as he had just cut off with Black Sabbath It was too much Blizzard of Ozz Randy is and was one of my guitar heroes as well The sounds and composing ability were unreal The history and knowledge he left were obviously a great gift Thanks this furthered that🙂
For me the Diary of a Madman album is the pinnacle of Randy’s brilliant guitar playing 🤟🏻🚬🚬🤟🏻 would be nice to have an episode focused on that album. Let’s do it Jack 🤟🏻

I never had the privilege of seeing Randy Rhoads live. I did however get to see my first Ozzy show in Charlotte NC '83 when I was 15. Speak Of The Devil tour with Brad Gillis filling in for the late RR. The show I saw was after Brad had to get back to Night Ranger! Vandenberg was damn good too....
This was great! Nailed the tone in my opinion. I honestly think Randy’s Children of the Grave was the best version of the song. Randy was the whole reason I started playing in the first place, way back in 1997 I got the “Ozzman Cometh” when I heard Crazy Train , it blew me away and I’ve been a Die hard Randy Rhoads loyalist ever since. Kick ass man ! I own that exact Jackson RR3 and yes its awesome. Played a lot of big shows with world touring bands and got a lot of questions and compliments on it. Great job replicating a very difficult amazing one of a kind guitarist and my biggest influence 🤘

The Tribute album was my rock along cd when i was 16-17. I would press play and jam along with the entire album pretending i was Randy(faking the solo parts i couldnt play) his studio playing was great but live he was a Monster. Its cool u picked that album

I was blessed to have seen Randy not once but twice at the ages of 14 and 15, respectfully. The last time being his very last show here in Knoxville. It was such a unique sound as was EVH. It influenced so many guitar players it seems quite mundane to those who weren't alive at the time.

Randy and the Tribute album were one of the biggest reasons I started playing guitar some 20 years ago. I’ve been thinking about getting that particular Jackson, and this definitely made up my mind. The tone was unmistakable to me.

That Gibson Les Paul was such a work horse for Randy. So versatile. This video is really well done and really captures the nuances of Randy’s playing. Pretty obvious this guy has studied Randy in great detail. I can still see the place I was when I heard on the radio Randy had died. Randy’s death had a profound effect on both Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge.

I am a major Randy Rhoads fan, and I wanted to take the time to compliment you. I think you did a great job recreating his tone. I got into rock music a lot later than most. I grew up in a town that only had AM radio stations, and MTV had yet to be created. It wasn't until high school that I was exposed to rock. I heard "Back in Black" and it blew me away. I asked my friends what album to buy next, and a girl named Sunshine said, "You should get Ozzy's albums". I had no idea who Ozzy was but I bought "Blizzard..." and "Diary..." I listened to them that same day. Those two albums changed my life. I wanted to be a professional musician and play that kind of music because of the music that Randy Rhoads created. His solos on "Mr. Crowley" are so beautiful they almost bring a tear to my eye.
As someone who’s been a randy freak since I was a kid, i’ve never seen someone nail his playing so well. There’s so many small nuances and attack that alot of guys miss.

Yep.. that solo is FIRE🔥 I've gotten pretty close to pulling it off a few times myself, but not identical to Randy. the harmonics and feedback.. it's impossible to cover it 100%

Thanks for the choice & brilliance fantastic presentation and delivery I was in a local sundry store one night and picked up a copy of Circus magazine Towards the back pages it mentioned this new album from Ozzy who made a solo album just mentioned as he had just cut off with Black Sabbath It was too much Blizzard of Ozz Randy is and was one of my guitar heroes as well The sounds and composing ability were unreal The history and knowledge he left were obviously a great gift Thanks this furthered that🙂
For me the Diary of a Madman album is the pinnacle of Randy’s brilliant guitar playing 🤟🏻🚬🚬🤟🏻 would be nice to have an episode focused on that album. Let’s do it Jack 🤟🏻

I never had the privilege of seeing Randy Rhoads live. I did however get to see my first Ozzy show in Charlotte NC '83 when I was 15. Speak Of The Devil tour with Brad Gillis filling in for the late RR. The show I saw was after Brad had to get back to Night Ranger! Vandenberg was damn good too....

This was great! Nailed the tone in my opinion. I honestly think Randy’s Children of the Grave was the best version of the song. Randy was the whole reason I started playing in the first place, way back in 1997 I got the “Ozzman Cometh” when I heard Crazy Train , it blew me away and I’ve been a Die hard Randy Rhoads loyalist ever since. Thank you for giving Randy’s playing the credit it deserves. Awesome video. 3 thumbs up!!

Kick ass man ! I own that exact Jackson RR3 and yes its awesome. Played a lot of big shows with world touring bands and got a lot of questions and compliments on it. Great job replicating a very difficult amazing one of a kind guitarist and my biggest influence 🤘

The Tribute album was my rock along cd when i was 16-17. I would press play and jam along with the entire album pretending i was Randy(faking the solo parts i couldnt play) his studio playing was great but live he was a Monster. Its cool u picked that album
