All TBS products have a rating for how long they can run without antennas. It’s in the manual but everything starts at like min of 4 hours lol. tBS is amazing
hey buddy this module does not have crossfire built into it it just has a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth module and it has its own inbuilt PCB antenna No need to worry about antennas being on to power it up it talks to crossfire through that link be it Wi-Fi I believe,
Completely true. This was a very early released model and I was not sure at the time if they were using the 5.8 antennas to send signal or just the internal WiFi antenna or both. Felt better to be safe than have a fried module. Thanks for the update, and thanks for watching!
@@breaksteel yeah sad as I have everything tbs just so I could use the eco system but now it would have been find if I'd just gone with a rapid fire instead
The Fusion has kept its home in my goggles as my preference. It is slightly better for colors but it’s so subtle most people may not notice it. The huge selling point with the Fusion over the Rapid Fire is the connectivity. If you run Crossfire then the Fusion is a solid choice. If you don’t use Crossfire then it comes down to ease of use and functions. They both are a solid modules and have menu systems that are easily navigated. There’s a few functions that the Fusion has that the Rapid Fire doesn’t like channel lock. You will be pleased with ether one but will find more support for the Fusion as we move forward.
@@breaksteel Thanks I have rapid fire now but i am always looking at new stuff lol. Most of my quads are now crossfire and almost all TBS vtxs. I think that alone will likely make me switch at some point.
Sounds like Fusion will be a good jump for you. We’re waiting for the Crossfire connectivity to be released. It’s been two weeks since I’ve checked for firmware updates to see if anything’s been pushed. It will be a fairly lateral move until those are pushed.
hi! I have TBS Fusion and it was great until today. Today I tried to connect but it won't detect any signal automatically. However, when I do it manually, it works but very weak... What has happened and what can be done to fix it? I have most updated hardware and software. Thank you!
soo i bought hdo2... with tbs fusion (rapidfire out of stock EVERYWHERE) but tbs fusion will be good too for me lol whatever.. hey but do i need to install that power wire? i dont get this Yes or No? and why i need to do it or why i dont have to do it..? thanks for the help!!!!!!
The Fusion will suit you well. RapidFire gives a better picture but the connectivity for Crossfire is worth it. As for the extra power mod, it’s not needed on the HDO2. The reason you’d want it is to supply enough power for both the WiFi and the module itself. HDO2 supplies enough power for both to run without any extra wiring.
breaksteel so if i use wifi connection i quess i still need to do it? Im getting hdo2 and tbs fusion tomoro in the mail. So and i just looked for a app but they don’t exist?! How do i management it then or do i missed something that i not know about lol
With the HDO2 you can use the WiFi and module at the same time with NO power mods. The WiFi isn’t used for an app. WiFi is used to communicate with Crossfire. The only download you’ll want to make is TBS Agent X software to upgrade the firmware on the Fusion.
i have one the black ribbon cable piece sucks it breaks off but tbs told me you can just run the single wire to single wire on the hdos wich works better than the ribbon
@@breaksteel same here that black strip just isnt secure enough i have a rf also and they are pretty dam close i do really like the fusion and ive been changeing everything over to crsf now frrom the r9
Had accidentally pulled that black strip out fairly easily. Managed to get it back in place eventually. Dropped it a few times and nearly lost it twice in the process. That’s the only real upgrade I see the need for. I do love the way it fits the goggles. It’s almost as if Fatshark designed the plastics with how well it fits. I have the R9 and never liked it.

I think that manual dropped the day I was editing. Filmed this about two weeks ago. I’m planning a head to head video at some point between Rapidfire and Fusion. Have a few others in the works before that. Im totally in it for the integration.
Channel lock is going to be sick!!! Hoping channel changes will be fast enough to keep flying and make those changes. Will make group flights a bit easier.
It actually doesn’t contradict anything. When the module is in calibration mode it’s not going to be transmitting anything. Therefore it would be safe to have antennas off.
@@breaksteel Ok, thats good to know. would you also recommend fitting the antennas when powering up via usb cable for connecting to pc for setup/ firmware updates etc.
After some digging it seems actually ok to power this up without antennas all the time. When I had filmed this I had figured they would run Crossfire over the 5.8mhz link. I did this as a precaution and felt it’s best to be on the safe side. They are going to be using WiFi for Crossfire which has an always connected antenna.
@@breaksteel I believe it's more (and I could be wrong, there's a bunch of shit ain't figured out about this fusion module yet) like it finds multiple of the same signals to lock onto to provide I guess the best unicorn magic experience that it can provide. It’s made to find all the available channels with a good signal. Then it lists them for easy swap between them. Mostly used at races or when flying in groups. What FW are you on that it’s not listing those channels?
Not exactly 100% sure right now. But I know it's (at very least) the latest official release. But I want to say that it's on a stable nightly/beta release, or something.
