I have goggles X and from the very first day, my analog show super "Bright".
then I spend couple weeks to change input battery from 2S to 3S, and change the analog cables, move the jack and twist is around.
one day, all problem gone and perfect analog feed.
my analog module is Skyzone Steadyview X ground station.
I not sure is bad contact or lose on the jack, but till now, I happy fly with analog and goggles X
Still waiting for mine to ship, but I also saw this noted in JB's review. Didn't realize how bad it was so I intended to use the analog input for my fusion module once I had found a relatively clean way to mount it.
I guess I'll just be keeping my ancient OG FS HD's that aren't even worth selling anyway.
At least FS HD3 has proven to be reliable...
What's going on here? Caddx doesn't have testers testing all this stuff? Great reporting Ian as always buddy! Happy New Year!
The other issue with the goggles being a serious analog goggle replacement is that there is no DVR. That is as much of a deal breaker for me. You could use a separate DVR with a receiver but the whole advantage of having goggles that do both is less stuff to carry around.
The DVR is not fixable in FW as it simply does does not have the hw. However CaddX is planning to release a receive and DVR I believe however that won’t likely work with your own modules.
@@MadRCAs long as that is comparable to the TBS or RapidFire module that would be an acceptable solution assuming they fixed the other issue in firmware.
@@MadRC I'd buy that analog/DVR from CaddxFPV in a heartbeat if it has native analog latency.

Thanks for the update, mine have just landed from china, not unboxed yet but will surely test the analogue issue. I bought these as my first digital goggle coming from analogue but probably wont use them for analogue.
How'd it go? Is it still that bad?
And the big question is, why they have programmed this fake snow? Masking some other issue?

You will like the skyzone 04x pro for analog. Ive been using them everyday, the fan is awesome but I did replace the foam for comfort.

Nice, mentioning this, I wish they can fix it as wtfos also fixing the dji v2 av input.
I haven't tried the analog input yet. I have noticed that the on board DVR of the flight footage, craft side when played back on my pc looks like an acid trip after about 30 seconds of flight. The goggle DVR is smooth and clean. Seems odd that the VTX DVR would have the issue over the goggles. All else has been good. Thanks for these updates
Luckily I was informed of the issue by Bardwell prior to pressing order, so I knew what I was getting into. Hoping Caddx can release a fix even if that's a hardware one, would definitely be interested in one set of goggles to take to the field for multiple quads.

Have you seen any latency measurements for the analog in of goggles x?
I've been using Dji goggles with analog for a long time and I finally got analog in working on goggles x but I can't tell if it is better or worse from a latency standpoint than dji. If I had to guess Goggles X is worse
As it's a newer analog module that's programable, I would assume that blue screening is its normal function, and they've just reprogrammed it to display a static screen vs. the traditional bluescreen. So, it's doubtful they could remedy this without some hardware interface between the analog receiver and the goggles. Similar to putting a DVR in between the receiver and the goggles, the DVR would present a full-strength signal to the goggles even if the signal received by the receiver was weak.
Thanks for the update, but when I get these goggles (and yes I still want them), it won't be for flying analog, because this issue aside the analog latency is pretty crap. I imagine Caddx thought they were doing a good thing by adding analog, but they must be regretting it now. 😂

Just speculation but it seems hard to believe since the analog signal no matter how fuzzy it is, I would think a steady VIDEO signal strength coming from the analog module (showing snow, lines, or usable video). If Tokyo was correct the x goggles would need to be interpreting what is or is not usable visuals, so I would expect a threshold could be adjustable in the firmware to change it and the analog modules are just basically frequency converters and this makes sense lol... I hope not because I just bought some & plan to use mine for both. Mads Tech please give us the low down
I wish people would stop whining about fake snow. The issue is it can’t deal with missing/low video input. Blue screen or snow is moot.
Anyway caddx is making a complete analog vrx that goes on the top with dvr.
Im guessing there is some sort of vertical sync in the analogue signal that goggles x struggles to handle when it gets out of expected paramaters?
I'd love to see more testing done with other anolog modules and cameras, curious if the swapping between recievers may be culprit or if pal vs ntsc makes any difference
Also i had a monitor that would blue screen on low signal and i added a inline eachine dvr pro that fixed the issue for me, because it put out a full strong signal just with the noise imbedded in it, just curious if something like that would help?
I agree it’s a complex issue and it may not be the same on each one. We simply don’t know.
In my experience it goes to fake-snow when the signal switches from NTSC to PAL such as NTSC camera going to PAL menu on a RapidFire.
@@MadRC Ive been saving up for these goggles, I'm currently using the vrx on hdo2's, but now i think i will have to wait or maybe even pass on them if they don't fix this issue. I usually fly more analog anyhoo cuz i feel more locked in and in control
So from my testing is that they don't work with Foxeer Wildfire (you get green/purple image + fake snow)

hi Ian, do you think there is any way to get hold of the goggle's cad files ? Only the shell, and the internal structure. Reason: I need to widen the IPD range and release pressure on my nose. Only way I see atm is redesigning the body

I was discussing on the walksnail group too, got issues on the av in: brightness is excessive (and cannot be lowered via goggles) and the one in the video too.. Is frankly annoying since i bought goggles to go digital and analog.. Hope it'll be solved, but i'll not ask for a refund, since digital is reeeally greater from v1 goggles to me.

FAKE SNOW?? CADDX? REALLY? WOW. just in time for Christmas i guess.... Caddx used to be my top camera brand. not anymore. not with this kinda crap.
No module bay and no DVR on analog already make them worthless for analog in my eyes. I could look past the no module bay issue IF there was a kit I could buy to add what is essentially a ground station but mounted into the goggles front. But no DVR is a hard pass. DVR has saved me a quad 2 times in the last year alone. Now with the stupid fake snow thing added on to the issue list and HD0 VRX being worthless for anything but spectating. I'd say these are only good for Walksnail and maybe sims.
This beta testing with customer stuff is getting out of hand. They released a product that isn’t up to high standards before release.

its like putting a trailer hitch on a 911 and being annoyed that it doesn't tow as well as your old F150
How about if the 911 came with the hitch from the factory but it still did not work ?
If you like to compare apples to oranges, sure. But if it comes with a proven concept preinstalled, they sure as hell that should work perfectly at that price point. Digital has its perks, and analog does as well. But yeah, better pay extra for neutered shit you personally don't like.
I wanna know why anyone would use digital and even think about going back to analog. 🤮

Seconding whoops. I picked up a WS mob7 to go with the new gogs. Weighs 11g (40%) more than my analog mob7. Cut the already short flight time in half. Analog definitely has its place still
