  • Hi all,
    I got my first dose of the covid vaccine on Friday so I'm sorry for the low energy/volume in this video (I'm pretty tired).
    Hopefully you can still hear me okay in this quick update video.
    Not a ton to update honestly, but I've gotten a few comments asking when the next update was, so..here it is. Officially 11 months from the first day I used steroid tape. I took a 2.5 week break in June.
    Main difference: less inflammation.
    Hope you all have a great and safe holiday!

      Hey, great to see your recent upload!
Since I commented 4mo ago, I’ve had 4 additional injections, and overall the size of my keloid has gone down about 80-90% from a ball with a 6mm diameter to a raised bump with a 4mm diameter.

 Honestly, the first shot was pretty painful. It’s a lot more painful than getting a vaccine or getting blood drawn because the keloid tissue is so thick and scarred. My doctor just had to poke her way through the thick scar tissue with the needle which was not fun to feel or hear. I felt burning and itching at the injection site later that day as well.
      Afterwards, the keloid actually got a touch bigger for about a week or two which tempted me to to panic and spiral, but slowly over the course of the following month it actually shrank very noticeably. I went back for injections about once a month and am still going since I want my ear to look as normal as possible. Fortunately the first shot is by far the most painful one, and the following shots get progressively easier. However, unfortunately, results also slow down considerably after the first 1-3 shots. I saw little if no changes from shots 3-4, but now, a month after my 5th, I am noticing some more flattening. I know what it feels like to perceive no progress, but don’t give up! I’m learning that even with the right treatment, keloids just need time.

      @indiajasiri  2 роки тому

      @@sq6610 Oh, I so feel your pain! Continue to hang in there.
      My first ever injections sent me into instant tears and that was after we numbed the keloids a bit with ice. Guess that wasn't really useful, haha. I am so so glad to hear you're seeing progress with injections! Maybe between your injections you can wear kinesio tape to encourage flattening. I feel like it might help.
      6mm is quite a small keloid, and I imagine you're seeing great results from the injections due to its smaller size. If I had to estimate, I think my first set of keloids were about 20mm in diameter and had major volume; as they were like a huge marbles hanging off my lobes. If time is the major key, I think mine probably would've taken several years to see improvements with injections. I could only bear them for about 1 year before I gave up. Wonder what would have happened though.
      Again, I'm so glad for you and hope yours continues to shrink! Thanks for sharing!! :)

    Hi India, I just wanted to let you know that I'm going through something similar to you, although my keloid is on my chest. I had steroid injections a couple weeks back which have flattened the keloid by around 30%, and I'm using the tape every other day. It's too early to draw conclusions, but I'm seeing progress. I intend to have steroid injections once per month. Perhaps you could adopt a similar strategy? Wishing you the best of luck, from London, UK ❤️

    I had a keloid develop on my shoulder after having a mole removed. I had the shots, just grew back to it's pea size. Then I had it removed and it came back even bigger. I read some story about strapping it down with duct tape for about two weeks. I had surgical tape (Transpore in South Africa) and it worked. Two weeks later the lump had retreated back into me! That was 5 years ago...

      @@sayedero hi, so it was originally the size of a pea and then after I had it removed it came back about the size of a small olive. Once I had applied only the surgical tape (no duct tape) it's almost like it went back to it's pre hypertrophy state I guess and the scarring has been slowly disappearing. It would probably be completely gone if I kept doing it but it's good enough now.
