How to Cast Light Lures on a Cheap Baitcaster! Easy Tips for Beginners
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 сер 2024
- Today I am going to show you how to cast light lures on a cheap baitcaster. These easy tips for beginners can be applied to almost every entry level baitcaster. I am using a 5 year Abu Garcia Black Max for this demonstration. A recent comment claimed that I would NOT be able to cast plastic lures and skirted jigs nearly as far as the weights themselves. Boy was he ever wrong. I was actually able to cast the complete fishing rigs even further! In this video I cast everything from 1/32 ounce up to 1/2 ounce. This video ends with a couple of tips about setting up your tension and magnets before casting. #fishing #realistic

DAMN!!! Alex coming in hot with the flying elbow off the top rope like Macho Man Randy Savage. OH YEEEEEAAAAAAH!!!
😂😂😂
OHHH YEAAAAHHHH BROTHER!
Snap into it!
@@RealisticFishing try not to listen to the jabronies
I still smile every time I see that combo, and think about how you recovered it from the great beyond.
Me and her were meant to be!
Practice, practice, practice, throw, throw, throw…
That’s where precision and length comes from! Experience!
Shhh... 😉
Gotta remember that these light weights are also being tossed on a 6'6" Med Heavy Fast Action. Could get even more distance with a slower action (mod fast-mod). Just goes to show that gear be damned if you put in the time to learn the fundamentals. GG Alex. 🐟👊 Tight lines and keep it realistic.
lighter action loads up more, but I dont like the hookset with em. Its a trade off 👍
@@RealisticFishing True.
That it's done with a medium heavy is the cool part. Imagine if a lighter power rod with more flex was used, like a medium light or just light.
"89 feet...suck on that!!" LMFAO 🤣
I gotta say, I like fired up Alex. KIR
KIR!
During this pandemic, doctors recommend we exercise by walking. Although I doubt walking behind a measuring tool was what they had in mind, to me walking is walking. So kudos to you Alex for showing us a unique was to stay healthy. Always Realistic Fishing, the only fishing show you need..
The Abu Garcia Black Max reel is one of the best that I ever bought
Bought my first baitcaster yesterday and practiced in the yard today. Let’s just say I got a lot of practice in clearing backlashes. This video gives me confidence to keep practicing. Great stuff and love the channel!!
You can't fix stupid Alex, when the haters open their pie holes it means you're doing an awesome job and they're jealous.
I just purchased a BlackMaxx this summer and it’s my first baitcaster. It has given me confidence in not only baitcasters but also using plastics and just being an angler in general. I love your videos, I’ve learned some tricks and tips from you…..Keep up the good work and KIR.
Thank you Alex for the tips and for the burn 😜
Who would've guessed adding lures would put on more weight hence casting further... 😂
Some turd out there really thought that
He's probably saying you edited the video now, I don't think he knows how. Me, I'm still learning to use a bait caster, one of these days I will be casting far out there to.
First!!!!! (I caught it 12 seconds after posting!)
Also
I'm gonna try out my baitcasters in confidence, thanks!!
🏆 Wow fast!
You have a fantastic channel sir don’t let these people that have nothing better in life than to try and bring you down to their level. Keep up the great work and thank you !
When Realistic Fishing shows you how to efficiently throw light lures on a baitcaster and than he shows you exactly how he efficiently throws light lures on a baitcaster along with measurements? Probably because he earned the title of Realistic Fishing. I would love to see the troll post a video doing the same.
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING!! I've been fishing with conventional 4/0 wides, round bait casters, low profile bait casters, and the lowest I ever ventured to go is 1/4 oz. I have lighter lures, but I have always used weights, bubble floats, and weighted floats with them. Since seeing you cast the 1/32, I'm determined to invest the time into making light weight lure casts. I live in a high wind area where it's always been challenging. Now I see it's not impossible. I've seen other videos where they teach the basics of light lures casting, but none as motivating as this. Thanks to the hater who motivated you to make this tutorial. Thank you so much; continued success to you.
I hope it helps! Good luck out there!
When people say they want realism they want "sponsored shows that lie to the audience to try and sell those products saying its the perfect item," and I can go on. Keep it on and show those that can't seem to get their things right
Anyone that watches your videos knows that in the end, the trash will always end up in the dumpster. ✌🏽
😂
This is a perfect comment 😂😂
Thanks for the tips. I got my first baitcaster recently and I've been struggling with the lighter stuff.
all i have to say is great job as always you proved him wrong great job
I liked the video.. some people don’t even know how to use a zebco 202 let alone a bait caster.. I have been using a ABU bait casting reel for 55 years and I love it….keep it real!!!!!
😄 i like how you came to the black max defense to prevent people to not buy it thinking its not a good fishing ''tool'' ! I had a japan made ( old school side side knob ) Shimano baitcaster that was my first ever baitcaster and i havent mastered the art of tuning it to really get the best out of it and , unfortunatle , sold it.
a year later i saw a black max2 for sale near my city , never used , really cheap so i went and buy it just to , once and for all , learn how to really use these reels.spent an entire winter in my house watching video like yours and trying different lines on it and i came to the point where its just a reflex now to change lure , ''tune it'' and cast without even been scared of birdnessing it. i ended up using 30lbs braid on a daiwa medium fast rod and the thing , for the price, is just a great tool. First time i took it to my pike spot , i took one out without any strugle or problem.
to anyone on a budget wondering if its worth it... YES it is even today. Great vid sir !
Lol First of all let me just say i can't even guess on how many of these videos I've watched, i watch every time i see a new one, but this is the first time I've ever commented and it's def due to the contents in this video lol, I NEEDED THAT GOOD OL CHEER UP. THANKS ALEX!!!!
Great video...thanks for the lesson. Great job Alex! 👏👏👏
This is the kind of video that I love. Debunk an idiot, and also give good info on why the idiot is wrong. I am not that good with baitcasters, so this was great info to me. I have had trouble getting long casts out of lightweight lures, so thanks for making this video! Great info!
I was thinking the same thing yesterday while watching the video. Once you add more weight with a lure and hook, you will be able to cast even further. 👍🏻
Watched this again lol I’ve been outta Fishing for 20 years and retired my Abu Ambassadeur 5600 for a newer Baitcasting Reel and it’s a learning curve for me with the Braking lol. I picked up a couple used like new Reels and I TRULY thank you for the Videos. I’m having issues with the Lighter stuff and thought “Bearings” were the answer lol.. I found out I Backlash the same with 10 bearings exactly the same as with 5.. I think I’m getting it now thanks to you Guys and Devon at “Debo’s” taking the Time to help us Old Guys. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis
Thank you! This is really helpful! I appreciate it!
Don't let those haters steal your power bro. I just come across your channel. And I am new to the baitcaster. I have been fishing for the past 40 years and have always been intimidated by the big cast of reels. All they want to do is see your hateful comments toward them. Ignore them and they will go away
Alex keep being yourself. Keep being REALISTIC!!
Definitely need this lesson
Awesome !!!! Always good to brush up on some basic skills ! Keep it Realistic!
KIR!
Great advice Alex!! And it's sad that there are ppl out there who think that they know it all!! Shoot I don't know anything about baitcasting, but you taught me an important lesson about the tension and magnetic break. Thank you for always keeping it realistic Alex 🎣
Man I wish I could sub to this channel again!!!! Love this dude.
Thank you for the info. I’ve been struggling with this for awhile now. And I don’t know anyone that go’s fishing. your videos have taught me a lot. Especially using a Texas rig. Caught my first bass last week. On a Texas rig! Thank you realistic fishing!
Well done!
My nephew loved this video !!!!! He still trying to learn bait cast basics lol - "Smashed" the Like button and subscribed too - Keep the awesome videos coming, Tight Lines, USCG Captain Scott Manning, US Army Veteran
I said it on the last video and I’ll say it again. I love when the trolls try and flex on Alex. He will put you in your place quick. Only fishing channel I know that uses actual budget friendly equipment and still goes out there and catches fish.
Most realistic fishing "vlogs" (I would consider them) I've seen. I love the style you record, it makes me feel like it's nostalgic.
I was given a black max. Never use it Bc I use my curado 70 and slx 70. I spooled it yesterday and threw on a light jig. After I got it dialed in, I got it launching light jigs. It’s funny I find this video the next day. Good stuff man. Tight lines
Love it! Best fishing channel on UA-cam
Can catch just as many fish on entry level gear versus the higher priced stuff cool video 👍🏿
For sure!
Don't stress. You are providing a great channel. I love it and I'm learning a bunch !
Good job proving a point and not getting any backlash while doing so
Very good demo on different weights
Great video as I just bought a baitcaster. My plan for it is bass and when it cools down I want to use it for trout. I told a couple people my plan and they thought I was crazy.
I just bought my first baitcaster this week. Been practicing with a Jighead in my backyard. Starting to get the hang of it
Great video Alex great tips always going to have haters keep up the great work my friend
They hate me 'cuz I'm beautiful
@@RealisticFishing lmao yes sir yes sir
This is definitely a topic I'm interested in! I watch so many videos where there just seems to be super effortlessly casting for miles. Any advice on long casting when you're using light weights for pan fishing (sunnies, pumpkins, bluegill) is very, very welcome. I inherited a lot of gear and I'm returning to fishing, so the more I learn the better. I can't really afford new gear, so I'm spinner only. Appreciate the examples.
Great video!
Great information & video Alex! One of my earliest fishing buddies & good friend Ratl-Trap Rod would whole heartedly agree, as do I. LEARN then PROGRESS! Keep It Realistic 🤙
Dropping knowledge and truth !! Keep it Realistic
Just bought A black max last week. Good advice. Love your show.
Thank you for all the content man. And great way to stick it to the haters. A lot you do I use for my first time fishing for the type of fish you go for. I use to be just a trout guy. Not no more 🐟
Welp, I guess I need to get a baitcaster now that Alex showed me the secret to dialing one in. Thanks for the lesson!
Alex putting in the work to learn those fools out there that think they know everything. Good job educating bro, thanks.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Very interesting to see that nothing is off limit, just as long as you know what works best for you in various situation.
Like your style man.keeping it very realistic
As the legendary Ron Simmons has said for as long as I can remember..... "DAMN" I like the fiesty fired up Alex... You proved an idiot is an idiot and you gave us some Realistic tips too. Thank you... KiR!!!
Kool vid like always thanks
👊😎
Omg I love you man tell him how it is some people don't understand how to work the brake systems once he knows how to dial in a reel for the lures he's throwing it makes things easier
Great video
Hahaha! Congrats on proving the skeptics wrong. I find that people usually hate on others to mask their own shortcomings. You have a great channel!
Thank you great video
I wish I could get to the lake as early as I've been getting to your videos!
Hopefully soon
Love it Alex. Of course a caster can handle light weight. I cast whacky rigged 5 inch stick worms with no added weight. Works perfect. Preferably the reel should be one with light spool. I also agree that you don't need a super high end reel. As long as the user understands the dynamics of air and line resistance and how set the breaks to balance the spool friction with the air and line friction, they will be successful.
Keep being realistic bro
Point made. Repeatedly. Even with your expert adjustments on the Max I'm still amazed not one backlash...well played.
Absolutely LOVE this!!!!
The black Max in the right hands is just as affective as a $400 reel! Dope video as usual man!!
Thanks for the info. I needed to know that. 👍
I don't know if it was already stated but the less line you have on the spool helps throw lighter lures. It makes the spool lighter and it requires less force to get the spool spinning with lighter lures. Bank and stream fishing does not require miles of line.
love this. i use a $35 ozark trail baitcast combo, not the best in the world, but its what i can afford. after learning "your equipment" you can manage some far throws. good job and keep up the great videos.
Nice job, Alex! DAMN! that was great to watch. You need to send the APA after that hater! I picked up a Black Max a while back and really liked it, and recently grabbed a Revo X because of it. Thanks for reinforcing my selections in my mind, and as always….Keep It Realistic!
How is the Revo?
@@RealisticFishing not bad at all! It feels very similar to the Black Max in my hand, which was a definite plus when making the purchase. I find it easy to cast with a smooth retrieve. It’s a 7.3:1 compared to the 6.4:1 of the Black Max, so sometimes feels like I’m burning the bait back, then I remember not to crank so hard But, I like it.
Thanks for sacrificing some jigs to give a good educational video. I didn't know it was possible to throw those light weights on a baitcaster 👍🎣
Great video 👍
I love it when you prove the jerks wrong. I bet he couldn't cast any of those weights or lures half as far as you can on any reel. Just ignore these trolls and naysayers they aren't worth your time. Thanks for keeping it realistic!
Going out after work. Hopefully get on some. Water looked good while you were casting. Hope you had a chance to hit the water and catch a few? Man I’m trying switching hands abit now to be able to cast under obstacles better on my right side. Have a great one Alex!
Thanks for the tip
You bet
This is really interesting. I tend to cast with the break almost completely off(just tight enough to make spool not move side to side) this works really well for 1/2oz and up stuff but for lower ones not so much. I will try this tomorrow!
BTW I also find that line makes pretty significant difference and resistance going through guides. If the guides are damaged or braid is very flayed it significantly reduces the range.
I’d be interested in seeing a similar comparison to a spinning reel. I feel like my spinning casts are noticeably further than my bait caster. (Using 1/2-3/4 oz)
Amen Bro! Anything less than 1/4 oz is getting into spinning reel territory anyway. One more light weight tip is to go with a lighter action rod as well. Keep it up man!
Keep the fire Alex!!!!
I favor baitcasters over spinning gear . I throw Zoom finesse worms with 1/8 bullet weight with ease. Been casting for over 30 years. You are correct Sir ...practice is key 👍
Love the follow up video !!! A quick question if you don't mind. I have been using braid on a baitcaster and got backlashed every time I switched to a lighter lure even though the setting was set correctly. Can it be that braid gave you a wrong reading since it has more friction to the guides than mono?
Hell yeah I agree with ya man. My first bait caster was a pawn shop special. Old beat up and used I learned how to cast with that thing and eventually got a Jordan Lee signature bait caster. Much better but the fundamentals never changed!!
Nice vid!! Thanks again for doing this to show the way of fishing to regular Joe like myself!
What would be the heaviest line you would put on that baitcaster reel?
What lb test would you recommend for casting lighter weights on a baitcaster? I don't have a Black Max (I do have a Silver) but I have some extra Kastking ones I wouldn't mind rigging a bit lighter.
Good stuff bro
👍👍
All these vids have made me want to break out my retired Black Max reel and go fishing with it
black max my first baitcaster.. love it. learned its optimal range 7g-18g 20lb braid .no leader i get 60-100ft half breaks tension to lure.
Absolutely love this video. I was using a 1/8 and 1/4 Kastmaster spoon today on my 7 ft abu Vengeance pole medium heavy. The lures would just shoot STRAIGHT into the water and bird nest my reel. Pls help me
It's funny we have the same lures, really enjoyed this video 👍
This was great to know.
Thank you sir!
Thanks Alex. 👍
Hi Alex, thanks for the video!
How good is Crappie Maxx Baitcast reel from Cabela's for small lures in compare with Abu Garcia Black Max?
Should be similar
Great video...now I really want to practice with my black max's...KIR
I hate when people are a**holes. good for you Alex. I cast light weight all the time and I catch nice fish. I’m putting out a video soon and it will prove him wrong again
Howdy Bud I thought this was a replay. I didnt comment on spectacular job you did on all casts and being very real about it. 1 32 shit I can't cast that with any of my setups. All spinning reals BECAUSE I dont know how to use a baitcaster. Thank you Alex keep killing it.
EAT ME TROLLS.
I love how you don't take ppl s**t keep up the great work .and thanks for the tip on the bait casters ...
