I hope you see this because I want you to know that what your doing is great and helping people. If it helped me imagine all the others man. Keep up the great work🔥🔥🔥

Dude... when I first got my baitcaster I just tied a drop weight onto the end and practiced in my backyard for hours til I felt good about it. All in the wrist, and that little under-roll flick is golden!
Joltin Joe
Best way to get started!🤙
Best way to do it man. Thanks for watching 👊
Bro im 15 and doing the same
Same thing I did
@@jacobotes1226 same doing it rn
Oh My God Debo Thank you so much😭😭😭 because for christmas this year i got my 1st bait caster i spent all christmas day watching how to use a bait caster on youtube then i watched you on monday and after 2 respools and 1 broken christmas ornament later i imediately learned to over cast , im going to practice my heart out over hand casting my bait caster but im not kidding monday or tuesday afternoon i was watching you Debo and i was litterally balling tears of happy joy because of you i have been able to make over hand cast with no backlash. Because of you Debo it only took me 1 day learn to over hand cast my 1st bait caster. i plan on practicing my heart out to build up my confidence. i wanted to full heartedly thank you
When you’re North of 50 you tend to forget things and I’m so thankful that Debo’s Fishing Channel is here so I can refresh my Noggin and get back to Zinging Frogs lol. Thank you my friend again.
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
I was never able to pitch my lures. Never thought about turning my rod over either. Thanks for that tip. It will change my game completely
So bit the bullet and bought a baitcaster, never used one and backslashed near the whole spool.. rookie mistake.. after watching these baitcaster tips, I have to thank you. I'll definitely be trying all these tricks and thumb control.
Awesome man, hope these help. It's just going to take practice like anything else that you start. Tight lines 👊
Step 1: See Debo post a new video.
Step 2: Smash LIKE because you know the video is going to be good.
Step 3: Watch video.
Great tips once again, Debo. As a bank angler reacquiring my casting stroke, these tips are like gold!
Hahaha thank you so much man. I greatly appreciate those kind words. Thanks for supporting my channel 👊👊👊
I'm new to fishing and have no one to teach me the basics. This was extremely helpful. Thank you!
I'm glad I can help. Thanks for watching 👊
This is late for a comment BUT, those shorter pitch casts also help you to fish close to the bank first. Fish the structure, cover even open water right in front of yourself especially from the bank. Work it close to you as is realistic then work your way out. I see folks throw a bomb first few minutes at a spot, catch a fish sure but ya just spooked the five between wherever you hooked it and yourself. Everything between as that fish comes to the bank scattered from the commotion. Start cloudy catch those then work your way out. I hope this makes sense and anyone can understand my rambling lol. BTW I watch a TON of fishing videos and DEBO is one of if not THE BEST instructor on you tube. Brother ya just got a way of exposing things that is great. Thanks and keep it up!
Oh wow,, I NEEDED this video last night's! LOL. I was screwing up sooo bad. Basically, I was having every problem mentioned in this video. I'm a regular open reel-type girl. But I got adventurous and bought a baitcaster months ago, and have been too intimidated to try it, lol. Yesterday evening, my boyfriend was trimming trees in the backyard. So I decided to hang out there with him and try the baitcaster. I tied a weight to the end, made some adjustments, and cast it a few dozen times. Learned how to fix bird nests. Learned the mechanics of casting and reeling it. But... I couldn't get any distance! Grrrr! Maybe 10 or 15 feet tops. And my aim SUCKED. My side arm casts were going waayyyy too far to the sides. I need to go back out there and try the tips in this video.
A help for those who continue to have backlashes is to make a long cast and then pull off approximately 15 to 20 yards. Then put a small piece of clear scotch wrapping tape neatly across the line (only) inbetween the sides of the spool. This will help prevent backlashes from going past that point where you have the tape. This trick helped save me a lot of time untangling those bird nest as I was learning how to cast.
I just got my first baitcaster from my wonderful family for Father's Day. After struggling and getting frustrated I searched for some tips. Thank you for this video. I'm guilty of doing all the wrong things. I feel next time will go not perfectly, but better.
Debo,. All of your baitcasting vids have turned me into a true baitcasting lover. From how to setup and cast to how to fix a blow up backlash. I have my spinning rods for finesse but my baitcasters, thanks to you, have opened up a world of options to this guy. Thank you so much for all you do.
I’m in the same boat. I love going to a lake with two baitcasters, they are so easy to manage and fun to fish.
I just recommended your video to viewer from the other side of the World. He needs serious help with servicing his baitcaster. I gave him the links to your channel and links to the two great videos you made previously. Wow, I am amazed at the size of the rod you are holding on this video it looks 10-feet long on camera. Wow! You crack me up, I just made you an international star.
Thank you, Gizmo. Appreciate you spreading the word about my channel. I think that's a 7'4" rod? Camera adds a few feet I suppose 🤣👊
Hi DEBO
Just a greeting from Denmark. Love watching your videos. Despite that I dont bass fish but the pike fishing or perch fishing with baitcaster I still learn some tricks from your videos😊
Hope your gonna have a great weekend🎣
Watched this last year not knowing wtf I had gotten myself into when I opted to buy a baitcaster over spinning as my first setup , didn't understand anything . Nice to come back after a summer of fishing and realized I've progressed on my baitcasting so much . Lots of practice and a ton of backlashes . Now I need to get into the fancy stuff skipping like a pro
Debo-san says “paint the fence”. Thank you Mr. Miyagi. That will help with my pitching technique.
Hahah patience with that young grasshoppa! It did help me get more distance! Thanks for watching man 👊
I don't think this can get any better. Your videos are more than good. I feel like I've already improved my skills just by watching these guides because they are all in my head now. Not like just mimicing some moves, you make me understand WHY and HOW so good that I can already see myself casting. Great work man. Thank you!
I have always used the side cast. Practiced all week on overhead. Starting to get more distance and fewer backlashes. Turning the hand sideways, huge help. As always, thank you!
I never hail mary my cast. Perfect occasion for a backlash and or a big splash. These techniques really help
I'm still learning how to use a batecaster. Thanks for showing and teaching how to use a batecaster.
The way that you did that slow motion cast was pretty awesome. :) I mean the way that you kicked your leg out at the end like, "Hey, sailor!" Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?
OK, just having a little fun - LOL There is some good info here... God knows that I need it because no one ever taught me to actually fish when I was a kid. lol
It was the blind leading the blind, and seldom was a fish ever caught. I just got to the point where I gave up, and the only thing that I ever really looked forward to catching on a fishing trip was a beer buzz. LOL
Thank God for you tube and for people like you actually educating the ignorant masses about how to fish. Subbed and liked. :)
The casting to the non-dominant side tip to release earlier than usual is gold bro. You ever throw a small trailer hook on your chatterbaits? I'm sure 3 years later you do some things differently, but that was educational just watching your rod load with a chatterbait and the fish not get pinned.
as someone who is wanting to get into a baitcaster for the first time this video will go a long way in helping me out! keep up the great content!!
Best bait casting video I’ve viewed. I’ve been fishing for almost 50 years and bought my first baitcaster today. As l am mostly a bank fisher, the instruction was exactly what l was looking for. Well done!
I personally will say that when you start practice pitching you hold the rod in your opposite hand ie.. if you reel left handed hold it in your right if you reel with your right hold the rod in your left hand. think about this for a minute you pitch to a spot a fish is sitting on and he hits your bait as soon as it hits the water you have wasted a half second too late to set the hook, that one second can help you land that giant. great video and thks for the info.
thanks for the tips i am a 81 year old and been fishing for well over75 years but yes you can teach a old dog new tricks"thanks
That was the coolest example great video very informative thanks.
Thank you, hope it helps people out👊👊👊
Just tried out my 1st baitcaster, will have to try and practice these three casts. Thanks for the very informative vid :)
Awesome, hope it helps out! Good luck man 👊
I was just in the backyard practicing and had all those issues as you posted this!!! Omg thank you! Just what I needed!
You're welcome! Keep practicing with it man. I pitched off of my back deck and it really helped! Thanks for watching 👊
such a helpful video. i learned your roll cast when i watched your backlash trio. i just started to learn to pitch and flip. it's been a challenge until i watched this video. truly learned a lot. deeply appreciate all the work you put in and do. your goal to teach fishing in a way anyone can learn is a tremendous gift to all of us. thanks.
Thank you very much, Brian! I'm glad these vids can help people out! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel 👊
What a breath of fresh air with this video. This great for first timers or heck even a seasoned angler like myself. Sometimes you get all caught up and forget the basics. Also so nice to see a video that isn't a challenge video all the time. I struggle all the time with pitching and flipping and I will try these tactics next time i'm on the water. Love these learning, just fishing and review videos. Keep up the awesome work...
Thank you sir, that means a lot to me. Agreed, gotta have a strong foundation to build on. Thanks for supporting my channel man 👊👊👊
This helped so much! Went out and snagged a 1lb smallie, not the brush he was hiding in. Woohoo! But, I forgot to set my drag so he ran up and tangled in the branches. I had to wade waist deep to go get him the hard way, but that's another story.
Thanks my Dude! Awesome video! ... I just really started getting into Baitcasting this year... I tried it last year but put it down because it was getting frustrating. I watched this video a couple times and then went out to put it to practice on the canal bank...I got to say it really was a game-changer for me. I was definitely trying to put too much muscle into it before. And this video taught me how to roll cast which was an unbelievable advantage when fishing from the bank. 😎
Simple but easily one of your best. It improved my cast today! I just started fishing with my kids and I've learned the most from you of the fishing youtubers. Thanks so much and keep it going!!!
That makes me feel awesome man. Glad to hear my vids can help you and others out. Thank you very much for watching 👊
I appreciate your channel, I've always use spinning reels, I'm new to using baitcaster. You covered a lot of questions I had about using a baitcaster. Lastly,
It was great to see you out in the field, showing us Real life situation and Scenarios.
Perfect timing, here in Cali the Tuolumne river is flooded, and the water is up to the trees, and I have been learning how to pitch under the limbs. The explanation helped along as I never used the other hand to assist with the pitch control.
Great! Glad this vid could help out man. Good luck on the water 👊
Wow! What an excellent video Debo. One of my favorites in a long time (eventhough I love them all). This video is great for novice and intermediate anglers as well. Even the most expert level anglers could always learn a thing or two.
But with that being said, your analogies used throughout are really helpful. Eg- paintbrush, chopping wood, putting, etc. I myself need to improve on many of these techniques where as they can always be fine tuned. I'm guilty of "chopping wood" along with many others.
Excellent video my brother
Always appreciate you supporting me from day 1! Hope the tips can help some folks out. Thanks again brother 👊👊👊
Got my first baitcaster yesterday after I started fishing a month ago, 2 hours spent casting not making it 10 foot casts into weeds and picking out backlashes , I'm determined and excited to learn , thank you so much debo
No spool tension, adjust brakes until backlashes stop. Best performance possible.
When you were teaching the wrist motion on the pitch, I couldn't help but think of Mr. Miyagi teaching Daniel to paint the fence. Paint the fence. Up…down. Up! Down!
Matt Englehart I basically said the same thing, but didn’t see your comment made hours before me. Sorry.
@@rafabonati7757 haha all good. You just probably love 80s movies as much as I do.
Hahah I didn't even think of that until I read these 🤣👊 Debo Miyagi...it has a certain ring to it 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching man!
Thanks Debo!! Very informative.
Perfect timing for this video, as I'm new with a baitcaster and looking for new ways to get the bait where I want it. Thanks Debo.
Hope the vid helps man. Just takes consistent practice! Thanks for watching 👊
Thanks for the excellent video, gives me a chance to get back on the baitcasters after 40 years of using spinning reels only.
You're welcome. Good luck and hope it can help you out 👊
Great video ! Thanks for taking the time to pass some knowledge along. I appreciate it very much 😊
and...just when you figure it out, you buy a kayak. OMG! 😎 Good stuff though, I'll try to remember that "turn your hand sideways" while trying to pitch. Thnx Feeshin' Friend! 😆👍
Hahah yeah, different game from a kayak. Thanks for watching man 👊
Great video👍. I keep going back and watching your videos on mechanics of a bait caster. I have been using the side arm primarily but have recently been working on the over hand. You explained a lot more that I will use in the future with overhand and pitching. Thanks again. Happy Feeshin🐸
Thanks man, happy to hear these videos can help people out. Thanks for watching 👊👊👊
Such an awesomely informative video! Thank you for taking the time to film this Debo!
You're welcome man. Thanks for taking the time to watch 👊👊👊
These are incredible videos for a beginner like me. Thoroughly informative!
Great video, Debo! Just shared this with my son.
I learned how to pitch n flip from your older video on it. And its helped me tremendously! This Bass pond right down the street from me is all but 3 spots overgrown trees (literally cannot overhand cast) So you either get lucky or better know how to pitch if you wanna cast to the good spots!
I hear you man! The struggles of a bank angler get us use to fishing in tough spots! All thr more rewarding when we land one! Thanks for watching 👊
I hear you man! The struggles of a bank angler get us use to fishing in tough spots! All thr more rewarding when we land one! Thanks for watching 👊
There are so many videos out ab setting a baitcaster and basic cast but This is what I was looking for! Love the golf analogy. Very similar to learning a golf swing. Thanks for all the great tips!
I've been using these casts for several years, but it's good to have a reminder of proper technique--familiarity can lead to sloppiness. Good video.
Appreciate that man. Most definitely, habits are developed slowly over time. Always good to go back to the basics. Appreciate you watching brother 👊
Awesome!! All the technics I use I learned from you. Wife watched the video with me and all she said was’He said wood, hahaha!’. She does not like feathering the spool so I don’t believe she will be a baitcaster user anytime soon. Thanks for the info and Videos Debo. From Texas here.
Hahah well she is correct, I did talk about pitching and wood in the same sentence 🤣 Nothing wrong with sticking to spinning gear, all depends on what you prefer. Thanks for watching from TX👊👊👊
Just got my first baitcaster and this was massively helpful for learning the different techniques, thanks Debo!
amazing channel. you gotta hook up a members addition or whatever it is that allows us to join, your info and tips are priceless and have saved me so much frustration! taking my baitcaster out for the first time tomorrow morning. lot of info and quick talking but i rewind a lot and pause to mess with my rigs. thank you again and have a great summer BIG DEBO
Absolutely my new favorite fishing channel. Informative and to the point. Great content. Thank you so much!
Appreciate that a lot my man. Thanks for supporting my channel 👊👊👊
Always great information, good pointers. This will help me tighten up my game.
Thanks for watching man. Hope some of the tips help!
You don't have to be a pro, you're incredibly knowledgeable, i tried everything I've seen on your videos, I'm getting a little better but I really don't get to fish a lot, truck driving controls your life...🤣🤣🤣
Good job. Thanks for the pitching tips and tricks!
The thanks goes all to you for watching man 👊👊👊
Hi mate, just started watching your videos as I’ve just bought my first bfs setup.
Love it that your fishing from the bank as here in the U.K. that’s all I do. Been enjoying some of your other content to, still plenty to get through, lots of practice to do to.
Thanks a lot bro, subscribed straight away👍👍👍🎣🎣
Thank you, great tips and advice, much needed...
Debo you are my favorite you tube fisherman. I take your tips out every time I go fishing. My fishing has greatly improved because my techniques have improved.
This is exactly why I do it man. So humbling to hear my vids can help out. Thanks for supporting my channel, Daniel! 👊👊👊
thanks for the tips. it helps alot i enjoy all of your videosthanks for being here
You're welcome and thank you for watching! Have a good weekend!
very helpful for a BANKBROTHA
Gotta look out for my fellow bank busters👊👊👊
Hey Debo! I've been bass fishing for a long time, but I'm always trying to learn more. Lots of great tips and information on your channel man. I really enjoy it! Tight lines👊
I appreciate that a lot man. Thanks for watching 👊
This video is exactly what I needed to see to understand. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the great info. I'm still working on pitchin' & flippin' and will try your tips.
You're welcome man. Just keep practicing with it. Consistent practice is the big thing!
This is one of the best video to explain the casting techniques. I have used the side arm, but I am getting backlash from time to time using braid. I am still new to bait casters. I am in Florida and it has been hot and humid so I am not able to practice these different cast, but they are making me understand how to use these cast. Thanks for your simple explanation to follow.
Awesome man. I'm glad this helped! Good luck and keep with the casters!
Bro, you damn rock in this learning video! Simple but understanding to us beginners!! I just got a Baitcaster reel and I’m trying hard to get the hang of it but after seeing your video, you gave me confident!! I know i will get this but thank you!! Like the saying goes, it’s never too late to teach an old dog with some new tricks! I’m 52 years old and just getting into this hobby of fishing! And I love it!!
Awesome to hear man. I'm glad the video could help you out. Never too old my friend, it's just a number. Have fun and hope you catch some biggins soon!
Thanks for the great info DEBO! This very helpful for novices such as myself. Keep up the great work!
The thanks goes all to you for watching man. Good luck on the water!
Great viDEBO..also thanks for the rattle trap rips, they paid off and caught my pb LMB for the season
You're welcome. Awesome man! The lipless is definitely a go to!
Lost 2 choppos and a lunkerhunt plug a few weekends ago on my spinning rod trying to bank fish close to shrubs and reeds. Watched your beginner videos on a baitcaster and decided to give it a shot. Only 2 trips in, but I feel like I've got the hang of it. Still some backlashes, but not a lot, and I'm much more accurate with my casting.
Watched your video on drop shotting, so I converted my spinning rig to a drop shot rig tonight and am gonna give the smallmouth up here in Canada hell tomorrow morning.
Thanks Debo!
Nice man! Great to hear your doing well with the baitcaster. Good luck with the drop shot! Thanks for watching 👊👊👊
some great examples and great info dude!! great video!
Thank you, LT! Always appreciate you watching 👊
You gave me enough confidence in this series for me to land some huge lunkers maestro. Thank you for all of your insight!
Thank you sir! Certainly hope this helps out. Thanks for watching 👊
I enjoyed this teaching video. I learned a lot. Can’t wait to get out and try it. Thanks. I am now subscribed.
Thanks Debo I have trouble with the over hand and pitch but I will try your tips next time I’m out.
Hope the vid can help brother 👊👊👊
Oh my gosh yes!! I get the McDs arch on my overhead! Thank you so much, now I know what to look for I can tighten up that cast!
Hope it can help you out man. Tight lines👊👊👊
I only cast with the going deep bomber cast. Mostly because I’m lazy and hate to walk. So I just fish the entire pond from my first spot. Still a good video for you not so experienced fishin’ friends.
Hahahaha well not all of us have the power to do that like you cuz! If it's working for you, keep on hucking that baby out there👊 Always appreciate you watching man!
Great video. Just bought my first baitcasting rig and this is very helpful. Thumbs up!
i just rmembered something- my first level wind reel was an OLD! pfleuger i found for 5 bucks in a garage sale. (no drag!) oohh! my knuckles still twinge at the memories! but with a broomstick musky rod 6 foot, that OLD pfleuger reel, 50lbs braided dacron , i could cast that 8 " gold n black rapala to the last wrap of line the reel held. and i still remember the first BIG fish . it was so big the head would not fit in dads bass net the nose was in the bottom of the net and we couldnt hook the gill plates with the rim of the net.
that pike had my rapala crosswise in its mouth and you could only see maybe an inch out either side of the mouth.
i also remember when the reel handle stopped and my ripping it back caused me to bloody 2 knuckles on my handle because it stopped dead and my hand kept going.
LOL
thought i was bringing up a wet pine tree from the logging eras! but when we saw that green back then the huge white spots ! we both knew we were screwed! how the hell will we get it in the boat? chuckles we never did.
and i didn't know about the fingers inside the gillplate back then.
well good luck all and keep it fun!
Just got my first baitcaster and this is very helpful to learn the different casts. Thanks
Awesome video and extremely helpful!! Thanks.
Thank you man, appreciate you watching 👊
Great info, I always had trouble with over hand. I did just catch a 5 pounder pitching a wacky worm into some pads.
Yeah, just takes consistent practice man. Nice! Sounds like you got the pitching down! I could use a 5lber today 👊👊👊
Debo! Dude! Your videos rock! Thanks for the demo's on the different casts. Especially the back hand cast. I have been practicing off hand casting (Righty casting Lefty). Getting pretty good at it overhand, but need a lot more practice. I always love your videos.
I've tried casting with my left too and it's not pretty 🤣👊
Thanks man. Great video. I have to get out and practice more. Nice production work to get the bass to enter the scene at the right time!
Thanks for the tips and techniques. New to bait casters and fishing a lot to improve my skill level.
As a new angler this was a great resource to really help me increase my knowledge. Thank you
That’s some good tips. Thanks. Keep them coming
Tight lines an fish on
Thanks for watching man, hope they help folks out!
Thank you for the great information! Keep up the great work!
You're welcome man. Thanks for watching 👊👊👊
Always a good teacher Debo. Thanks! (I use your videos not only for myself but to help others learn. You are always interesting to watch and not dry,....kind of a pun there unintentionally)
Hahah thank you sir. I greatly appreciate you watching and supporting my channel. I gotta have fun while I do this or there is no point to it 👊👊👊
Hi Debo, I am from Sydney Australia and a mad keen fisho , I really enjoy your videos mate , the way you explain and teach is excellent and so easy to follow , you taught me how use and tune my bait caster properly - I was getting back lashes all the time before I watched a few of your videos. thank you man...Niko
That's so awesome to hear man. I'm honored that my vids have helped you out. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel 👊👊👊
Hi Debo, yes I’m using them all ... and within the last weeks it‘s getting better and better 👍🏻 Greetings from Germany
Awesome! Thanks for watching from across the pond!
Thanks you Debo, I have been fishing for years with a spinning reel. The last month i started using a baitcaster. Your videos are very helpful.
Nice, welcome to the realm of baitcasters! Thanks for watching and good luck on the water 👊
debo, bought my first baitcaster a month or 2 ago. this REALLY helped🙏🏼
Awesome! Glad the vids can help. Tight lines 👊
This really helpful! Big thank 🙏
I haven't been able to get fishing for over 2 months. I have however been studying at the school of Debo. I am going on a weekend feeshing trip to put all of these tips to use. Thanks again sensei.
Dang man! I'd be going through some serious withdrawals. I hope my vids can help in the meantime! Thanks for watching man 👊👊👊
Very helpful and informative
Literally watched this and got the pitch down right after! Thanks so much!
That's freaking awesome to hear man. Very glad that this helped👊👊👊
That fish just wanted an appearance in your vid
He’s starting a UA-cam channel and wanted to collab
I'm always happy to collab with fish like that 🤣 Thanks for watching man 👊
nah, the fish is a paid actor, lol
