Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is. Woke There It Is
Though I am not a tech giant; I hired an employee with no college degree during the pandemic. This woke employee was nearly broke when I hired him. Paid him 30% more than he ever made before and gave over $4k in bonuses that were not offered when hired. He quits on me with a 5 day notice stating he could do better elsewhere with a refusal to transition out when he left. Even purchased a "Tesla" just a couple months before. Found out recently he is unemployed and cannot find a job. Unfortunate for him, but ain't that Karma!
I had an employee who "wasn't looking for a job" but was offered a "Great Opportunity" so he left. 6 months later he's calling me wanting his job back. I didn't have a spot for him, so he moved on. I found out later he was making $1.00 an hour more at the "Great Opportunity", but he could "work all the overtime he wanted to". He was due a raise in 30 days, which would have been a $1.00 an hour and I paid him a bonus every Thanksgiving. When I got his unemployment paperwork, he made less money in the six months he was at the "Great Opportunity" than the six months prior he worked for me. I split his Thanksgiving bonus up between my other employees.
What do normal people do when they get laid off? Normal people start looking for a new job. Going to Disney land is the last and furthest thing from their minds.
Difference being they make over $100k a year, have a hefty savings, they get severance pay...you can take a brake in those situations where you're not struggling to live and pay rent lol
yeh normal people iron/starch their clothes and make themselves presentable - these wokesters make a video like they're experiencing a natural disaster
During the great obama recession of 2009/2010 I was laid off and out of work for 11 months, and I worked an 8 hour day looking for a job. Online, at employment agencies, doing interviews, looking at the opportunities at the EDD. I thought I'd never find a job😮 but at the end of 2010 I found a job, and later my husband 😁😍
Remember when everyone freaked out at Elon for laying off Twitter employees? And then every tech company did the exact same thing a couple months later...
As an electrician in Silicon Valley, about 10 years ago, we were building tech offices. I could not believe how much extra crap we building out for them so workers could ‘feel’ valued.
I remember back in the 1980s when my company changed the coffee machine charge from 10 cents to "free." We all thought that we'd died and gone to heaven! Free snacks and cafeteria, never happened in real companies.
I honestly don't blame the employees. I blame the CEOs. They hired these mofos in the first place. Hell, I have met woke CEOs more than woke employees. Anything bad happens, I will blame the CEOs first
Or inventing more ways to burn your money with wasteful initiatives like DEI, ESG, and CRT. Everything social is a cash bonfire. Only new tech products *at tech companies* seem to make money.
If you have to get rid of thousands of people, there's no way you're going to individually separate the hard working useful people from the unneeded or useless.
Laid off for 18 months during the "great Recession" of 2008 . Lost my home and filed for bankruptcy. These were the types of people that laughed and told us plebs to "learn to code"....Reap it!!!!!
Really sorry to hear bro. But no one said that. Maybe some insensitive jerks. There is nothing positive when people lose there jobs, regardless weather you work at a fast food restaurant or Big Tech . We all need to be supportive of each other
Nailed it.They are showing things they should not in the first place and not even realizing Tiktok is a competitor of Google. They enjoyed too much without even thinking.
I work in Big Tech. There's huge risk in telling employees that they've been laid off and/or especially when they're fired. When it's a layoff, what often happens is that they'll tell you, and then lock many of your internal accounts to minimize the possibility that you do damage to the company out of petty revenge (e.g. deleting or screwing with valuable documentation, data, etc). They'll still keep you around for a couple months or so, mainly to fulfill contractual obligations or to be nice and give you time to find a new job. It's basically your 60 day notice or whatever. But you're basically paid to do nothing (because we don't trust you to do honest work anymore) with minimal access anyway. A lot of people will feel traumatized like that employee because it's very sudden for you to suddenly lose access to many accounts (even ones you use for internal communication, so you lose many contacts, suddenly). If it's a firing (for legit reasons), it's usually more severe because they don't need to warn you at all. Suddenly you're called in, and told to hand in your equipment (laptop and company phone) with no time to prepare, because they don't want to give you time to write your goodbyes or be dramatic over group emails, destroy valuable info, etc. People who aren't used to that and don't understand why these are policies will often feel shocked/traumatized like her and wish they were given a warning. I don't think it's entitlement, tbh, it's just lack of preparation, and the sudden realization that they have no time to even say goodbye.
@@AzathothTheGreat Oof, that's awful. Though actually pretty common sentiment in big tech tbh. (Not the two months without pay part, but the part about coworkers and others getting angry at you for leaving suddenly.)
Learn to do dirty work ….. HVAC - Plumbing - Building - Cement Work - Paving - mechanics - electrician ……yeah young people do not the dirty work that lays well
I'm about to puke. She lost a stupid non important job and cries. Trying losing your brother is a fire fight. He took a bullet to save my life. He died in the sands of a country that could not cared less about him.
Don't listen to these two (expletives deleted). They don't get it. I'll take some shade for you brother... They're about to implode in their haste to dish it out.
The tech companies offered these perks because employees were meant to be working 24/7. In the early days of Silicon Valley you would hear of people sleeping under their desks, only eating fast food, working 100 hour weeks to get work done, etc. These campuses were not designed to make work fun, but keep people working and not complaining. They did the cost benefit analysis and decided that catered lunches and sleep pods were way cheaper than hiring more people or extending deadlines.
These people are stupid as hell. Why on earth would you upload this to the internet where your boss can see you lazing around doing nothing despite all these wonderful expensive free perks they provide for you! She must’ve thought she was untouchable or something.
Here I am on a forklift in constant motion for at least 8 hours a day, meanwhile there are people who can literally do two minutes of work and take a nap. Unbelievable. Can't say these layoffs wrench my heart too much tbh.
These people were basically hired as diversity bots. Now that the 2020 election and midterms are over these brats aren't needed. They come in for a few hours, wash a bit of history away for Google, make a few comments on UA-cam and Twitter and they were finished. I'm happy they're gone.
The thing is, if they're not hiring tech people they don't need technical recruiters. So I think the hr layoffs don't bode well for tech employees either.
16:00 She didn’t just film herself crying. She had to recreate walking down the stairs and attempting to log in just for her video. What is with this generation’s obsession with documenting and posting their lives online?
They are the ideal consumer for the corporations. No individual thought, they are pliable and also extremely self centered. In IT it's so bad companies now rather hire an older person than a young graduate. Thats what I noticed.
@@NVArt001 I remember when TikTok started and there was this trend where many teenagers makes a sad edits of them crying and cutting themselves but yeah they’re teenagers and kids who are easily influenced by certain trends while adults are also doing the same thing.
I am a tech worker that was a survivor of a mass layoffs in 2008 You would think it became too much work for those that were retained. Nope. It was so much easier without the deadwood slowing everything. It was just the best people and it was amazingly productive.
I've survived the 90s crash and the 2008 crash as an industrial mechanic. I've never loose my job. While many of others were laid off and replaced or were just leaving after a week because "working is hard" don't you know. We were doing the same work with half the staff as you said because we were efficient and hard working, not having the dead wood to push around was a bliss. These people were never recalled.
@@bradleyrigg7137 Reminds me of a story in the book The Hard thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. He hired a programmer who got a 1 month project done in 3 days...turns out it was because he liked "Columbian sugar" a lot. Couldn't keep him on because he was too flaky for the aforementioned reason.
Many companies I worked for had these "gaming rooms". But you never saw anyone actually using them. Time spent in them did not count as work time. And noone wanted to spend free time at work when they could spend it at home.
As someone who deals with technical recruiters, what they are is; charismatic person who knows less than nothing about tech outside key buzzwords. Despite their lack of knowledge, they act as gatekeepers who will reject or approve your ability to talk to hiring managers. In short, they "help" the technical teams slim down their list of prospects based purely on if they like the person or not.
@@RomanHistoryFan476AD well, the idea is that they will bring a much smaller list of people to the hiring manager who is often busy working on other projects. The real issue is, because they have no experience, they will cut people based off what could be less relevant things like people skills or work history. You also run into overinflated egos. Your recruiter could come up with some "genius level" question that will determine if you get a call back. Possibly they will steer the conversation near politics or social habits to determine if you could be a "good fit". You could be the best person for the job, but because you didnt laugh at a joke, or because you give off "bad vibes", you may not even show on their radar.
I got my first civil engineering job working for the federal government. I spoke to an actual engineer for the interview. Most of these companies seem to hire their recruiters from a non technical background.
Hey so I am one of those PhD mathematicians who work in finance. And my company just went thru a round of layoffs. I survived. Why? Because I am working 60+ hours a week coding in sql and python (not fun) while the people they cut did nothing. Surprisingly my workplace got alot less diverse and inclusive. That's all I will say. Thanks for the video Sean. Us math nerds never get any recognition. Now I gotta go cause I have 5 things due tomorrow and I need to work till probably midnight tonight. UHG
@@brian8507 what age do you consider early? Are you ok with losing out on the best years of your life so you can sit around doing nothing as an old man?
@Kenshin Himura lmao why are u attacking me for my work ethic? This woman is not posting anything that can threaten Google. On the contrary, Google is happy for her to show off their welcoming work environment. However, she is stupid for giving potential future employers the impression that she does not like work and spends all day flitting around. The loser is her.
What’s crazy is that these kids are going to expect the same things they got at Big Tech firms at their next job. Just wait - those tantrum videos are coming later this year.
"I had to work 25 hours this week! Boo hooo hoo!!" 🤣🤣🤣 Just like that one Starbucks person that was hiding in the backroom crying when the other 3 staffers was being overwhelmed out at the counter.
From which they will immediately be fired when management finds their YT/TT rant channel resulting in more brain dead train crash videos for us to enjoy... it's the gift that keeps on giving.
Notice how these children aren't learning a single thing from this experience. The layoffs are brushed aside under notion that "welp, my colleagues were also laid off so it's not my fault". They never considered why a whole bunch of google employees still kept their jobs.
@@madtabby66 yes, it seems a lot of sour grapes still don't get it that it really has nothing to do with the employees. It is the economy turning down that is leading to these layoffs.
These woke "workers" will now have to learn IRL what Ayn Rand said: " You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality"
I'm gonna say it was actually performance based. They might have been comparing these useless workers with the actual workers. But it was definitely performance based because if you were really grinding it out in the trenches they probably wouldn't let you go.
These perks are heavily monitored. More like traps really. They see how often they get used and who uses them. This was a low productivity fire for sure.
35+ years ago, we had a Pac Man console in our break room. Some of the staff would occasionally use it during lunch breaks. Then word got around that it was being monitored to see who was "goofing off". Even when mandated by the state, some companies don't truly consider your breaks to be "your own time". Nevertheless, I rarely used the break room after that, and NEVER touched the game again. It should have been obvious from the beginning. You'd think "smart" young techies would have all this figured by now.
These are the people my friend tells me about. She's a heavy programmer and a data engineer. She loves the atmosphere of working for these kind of companies because she feels that her efforts (she writes code by the mile mind you) get the equal perk she needs to keep going. Which is justifiable. She is working the clock after all. But then she tells me that here are these other employees that don't even do an eighth of what she does. They just lounging about, doing an hour or so "work", only to then do nothing again the rest of the day. They also act like such airheads, in her words, posting this and that about having the best job ever, blah blah. Well, a few years later, my friend got promoted for all that she's done for the company. And this "techpocalypse" happened and those other employees are now getting laid off by the drones. My friend says she doesn't feel sympathy. She just enjoys her coffee and a late breakfast before going back to work like she always does.

Well first of all it is not their fault that such a position existed. Why did you think that if some moron created that position, this person is gone now? This person is probably doing hiring and firing in the first place. Second, it does not benefit other workers in any way, suits firing ppl just to buyback their own stock does not benefit anyone else.
My mom and dad had me when they were 18 & 19. My dad dropped everything and worked for 16 years at a company, working his way up to upper level management after starting on the warehouse team. He left because he worked his ass off but wasn’t being paid enough. The new company he was working for was a software company, paying him a lot better. This was around 2008-2009. He was laid off after a year, and it took him a few months to start a new job where he’s working now and has been for like 5 years, getting paid very well. But I’ll never forget how hard he worked all those years to get to a place where he was being paid what he was worth. I’ll also never forget how he was during the time he was laid off. How ashamed and guilty he felt. How our family had to adjust. But we did adjust and we supported him through it. I don’t wish a lay off on anyone, especially those with family, but these people aren’t even working. They are pampered and show up to day care each day until they can head home. It’s insane to me that they didn’t see this coming, or that they could ever be upset about being let go or laid off. These tech layoffs are going to be a large eye-opener for those living in an area that they now aren’t able to afford.
Your dad is a _man._ He didn't sit down demanding a "safe space" or was offended by "not getting consulted before the firings" which shows that he is a responsible _ADULT_ doing everything for his family.
As someone who is currently a father at 29. I'm also going through this transition. Currently work as a coach but the job is limited to how many people I can get. I've figured. Going into Tech is the best option and I want to learn as much as I can to get started
As a person whose life was destroyed by the lockdowns, I have little sympathy for these overgrown children. I hope their lives work out well, but I won't forget how much they damaged me and my family.
People forget so easily, we locked down because the hospitals were overwhelmed. If the hospitals again are overwhelmed, we will have no choice, but to lock down.
I just am enjoying the thought that they think what they were doing was earning their paycheck, but are about to be smacked with actual job where you have to be productive...

I had such a horrible experience with google recruiters. Cute 20 something year old Hispanic chick that was much more into her hair and nails than actually communicating with me or the people that were going to be actually interviewing me. After four months of interviews and back and forth they wanted me to restart the entire process. I said no, and have not responded to their emails since then.

Disneyland annual pass does not mean free food. So instead of drowning her sorrows in cheap comfort fast food, she went for over proced amusement park food when she needed to save
These places look like my fancy private university I went to. But the difference is I paid thousands of dollars to be there, whereas these people are getting paid to be there.
The last time I got fired, I: 1. paniced about how I am going to try not to lose my home. 2. Tried to focus and not cry, 3. Was up at the crack of dawn with a cleaned up resume looking for work. That she would film herself crying and go to Disneyland on her annual pass just re-emphasises how much of a child she really is.
First thing I did was went home. Took a nap....went out and got a decent, short, haircut. Drank like hell the first night.....sobered up...and started doing my resume the next day. I realized my "new job" was to look for a job. Was on my feet within 3 months. Suggestion: Get your home paid OFF as soon as possible.....it will give you a freedom that you will not believe. It opens many possibilities and opportunities as you are NO longer trapped. Suggestion # 2- Always be saving for your emergency fund....when NOT making EXTRA payments on your mortgage.
I got laid off in 2021 as a direct result of the lock downs messing up supply chains. Me and the other laid off employees, some of which, like me had big mortgages, proceeded to get really drunk that same day. But whilst drinking, I was talking, and some people who joined us in our drinking had leads. After a few phone calls, I had a job paying better money. I had to leave that one because of jab mandates, but I had another one lined up and didn't miss a day of work. I've never had trouble finding work, and I have only been laid off once, unless you count being laid off from crappy seasonal orchard jobs when I was a teen. Everything else was me choosing to move on.
@dancalm peaceful 3 months? You must be from America and work in something corporate. I was on my feet so fast I was still getting paid from the company that fired me when I got my new pay. I think it was around 5 days. Edit: not a diss. I'm genuinely horrified by the American job market, and what it puts people through. It must make these videos that much more enfuriating.
It’s funny because none of these people talking about getting laid off don’t mention their nice severance packages. They are mad but are good for at least 6 months
I got laid off and given unemployment and enjoyed three wonderful, relaxing months at home as an introvert (could have taken more time off but I felt guilty and took a job), but I was against lockdowns as well. They hurt a lot of people.
i have them. i never missed a day of work in covid and my reward... All my government sucking peers got promotions bc they cashed in their covid checks and free time for education. There is no room for good men these days.
So these people were enjoying their work hours and working less than 30 mins a day while nurses are swamped with work, understaffed and most nurses are experiencing ptsd from the hospitals. Well, those nurses seemed to have enough time to practice then perform dances on TikTok so I don't believe they were so "swamped". Especially seeing the hospitals were actually telling people to stay home. Those nurses were also performing those dances in hospitals with empty hallways that we were told were like"war zones"...
@@C.A.R.1967 There’s a thing called 30min break. Empty hallways? Probably got filled within minutes lol. Average patient load in the hospitals is 4-6, when someone calls in it becomes 6+ and you cant do anything about it.
@@jnikz Stop with the ridiculous excuses, we were told they were so overwhelmed that patients were in the hallways due to lack of space, I don't believe they're going to use a 30 minute break to do dance routines especially if they are so overworked. They obviously took the time to practice their idiotic dance moves so that would be multiple days of using their breaks to dance?! I've even seen where a doctor was dancing because they came up with the toxic vaccine. Some of those dance routines were actually done in operating areas. Many hospitals doing the same thing, some were up and down the full length of the hospital hallways which I would think is very insensitive to people who are supposed to be on the brink of death. Don't try to bullshit me, I looked into as many of these that I could find, big smiles on all their faces, families weren't permitted to visit loved ones dying but nobody had a problem with 20 to 30 nurses dancing in the hallways? You live in a fantasy world if you believe any of what you are attempting to convince me of. And they had the nerve to pound their chest and arrogantly claim they are the "front line workers" demanding respect for putting their lives on the line....
These people are treating their work at a tech giant like a day at the mall. When I got laid off from my previous job, I started to find another job, signed myself onto benefits, sold a few things, and started some volunteering to keep myself busy next to looking for a job. I didn't go to the nearest Disney theme park after getting fired, because going to the closest one to me would cost me 3 or 4 train tickets, a hotel room for a few nights, Disney tickets, and so on would probably cost me over £/$2000+ for just a couple of days. I'm more concerned about how I'm going to pay for a week's worth of groceries and other things, than going to a theme park spending crap ton of money on over priced food. I would love to go to a Disney theme park for a couple of days, but it's super pricey to go there.
All the stories are true. Having worked as am onsite massage therapist in SF at the Google offices, it's all true. The place was like a big preschool play area for "adults". It's no surprise they're whining...sadly they thought it would last.
It's insane to me that a company could afford to pay people to essentially vacation in their office building all year long. It has to cost them millions every year just to get 5 minutes of actual work!
kinda curious, how many of your clients were the real programmers and developers? Basically the people that are actually important in the development of google
I think the layoffs are great. I do not feel sorry for ANY of them, not even the pregnant lady. I mean, they did this to themselves. If you make videos of yourself going from room to room, eating free food all day, admitting to doing two minutes of work, and POSTING it online. WTF did they think was going to happen?
I thought that too until I saw someone else say she was a recruiter. What I think people are missing is that these videos SHOW HER DOING HER JOB. Her job is to make Google look like a wonderland to attract employees. I feel like this flew over everyone's heads.
At the beginning of the pandemic, I got laid off from my stressful, extremely fast paced and physically demanding roofing job that didn't even pay very well. They told me that because I wasn't a foreman and hadn't been at the company for over 10 years, I wasn't critical to the operation of the company. Needless to say, I simply cannot relate to the girl in this first video. I was working 12-14 hour days 6 days a week, running a small crew of guys and woke up every morning sore as all hell. But yet, as soon as they thought things were getting bad, they basically laid off everyone who wasn't a personal friend of the owner.
This was very well put together. I never want to wish misfortunes, but as an irrigation tech and landscaper that worked through the lockdowns I cant help but gain a little bit of face back from this. They are crying over something corperations have done for YEARS. My dad worked at Locheed Martin and was unfortunate enough to make the layoff. I guess they did big contract cuts every few years. What is reallythe annoying part is simply the audacity of thinking people need to know all this shit in such detail. That's another can of worms though. I really think they should be fearing A.I. That's probably why they are making cuts honest to God. Seems like the easiest place to impliment A.I tech with simple input-output systems like punching in numbers. One A.I system probably just replaced all of them at once.
As someone who tutored mathematics up through multivariable calculus in college and scored at the top of every math class, I don't think there is competition for people with mathematical ability in general. If that were the case, then I would've been able to get a job after graduating with honors and an engineering degree, but I could barely get a phone interview. I think the competition is for a _certain kind_ of people with mathematical ability.
Honest question: is it possible that you are really bad at selling yourself to potential employers? One of the channels I follow is a recruiter, and ... that seems to be a pretty wide-spread issue. I always thought my social skills were passable, then you find out how HR works and suddenly a lot of things make sense retroactively. That being said, yeah, if you're male, white and straight, you're probably at a disadvantage. If I were you, I'd game the system.
@@p.s.shnabel3409 these employers also want specialized experience as well in addition to interning in college. Gone are the days a physics major could get an engineering job as easily. They want the specialized degrees.
I don't think the layoff is random. They laid off either the overly paid ones (since there are a few of them that have worked for 10+ years there) or the excess ones just like you've said. Some of the veterans who got fired are top notch developers but I guess Google have found their cheaper replacements. This is why we don't have to be loyal to any company. We are all expendable.
Nah, I doubt any veteran top notch developers were laid off. They can’t even hire those guys. My company also cut 10% of our workforce and those who got the pinks slips were the bottoms 1/5 on the performance reviews or guys who were a few years away from retirement
I got let go in 2008 (thanks barry) because our company took a big hit during the bank bail out time (that people seem to have forgotten). I was 48 and worked there 17 yrs. I took it on the chin and started a new life.
To freaking bad, twitter had a base salary of 160,000.00 with no real obligation to even show up for work. Free meals that were steak meals with a 120.00 value(give or take). A free open bar and full brewery that was 24/7. Hug spaces and yoga rooms galore. One twitter employee said she didn’t even show up for 30 days and nobody missed her yet still got full pay. Straight out of college they get this super cushy job and now fired.
Because she uses her wokness and HR is to afraid to go after people like that instead you hard working individual need work harder to do her job also or wait that in that two minutes of daily work she will actually provide information that you need to complete your task
What annoys me is the fact that these 'pampered' employees weren't the first to get fired. The tech companies apparently decided to start with the code monkeys first (the people actually doing the work) they only started going after the do nothings, HR managers and 'Diversity' officers once they'd literally ran out of other people they could let go.
Someone actually wrote an article on Bloomberg _chastising_ the companies for getting rid of some DEI employees. What were companies supposed to do? Only fire the white male workers? 😑
Engineers are valuable, but their work is often a long term, ongoing process. If you already know you won't be holding them for a long time, they can be let go almost immediately because there's no point keeping them longer. You can't expect to squeeze just a bit more work from them, because even if they finish by the deadlines, you need to keep them around longer in case there are bugs (found internally or often much later by customers) in their finished product. Then it's better for the original architects/engineers to help solve the problems for their products. If they're not there, their product automatically has lower value because of these potential problems. Point is, there are many reasons their work is a long term investment. So there's no point in keeping them longer than they have to stay, because anything they make past the point where you know you can't keep them for much longer has less value. Might as well give them less work or ask them to pass on documentation and train others. Most other jobs don't involve work that go the distance like that. You can afford to keep them around longer, squeezing a bit more work out of them before finally needing to let go.
@@MA__ There's pros and cons of that. For one, lots of people actually want full time employment. Contractual work often pays better but it's less stability, which matters to a lot of people. Secondly, it costs a company a lot more to keep hiring contractors repeatedly for different long term projects. Full-time employment is actually the long term investment you go with if you plain on investing in their training/development.
I’ve lost a job two or three times and I can’t recall ever sobbing. Also, most of the times, it was no surprise. When it was announced that America was in a recession, people should’ve been prepping for layoffs. I don’t understand why she was crying or recording herself crying. She should’ve recorded herself updating her resume. I guess if all I could put on my resume was ‘professional nap taker/lounger’, I’d cry too.
EXACTLY!! I managed to retire out of United Airlines and talk about lay-offs. The airline industry is notorious for laying off mechanics hell the first lady gets a head cold....lay off 2k employees. Yeah a truck drivers class "A" license kept my family safe warm and fed following 9/11 and everything that has befallen the aviation industry now that is "Diversification" in a resume. 😊😉
'professional nap taker/lounger' 😂😂😂 - exactly what I was thinking! Plus the fact that she posted her lazy ass all over social media, bragging about it like she was proud of it, for all potential future employers to see. So incredibly stupid. Looking at a candidate's social media is like one of the first things we look at where I work.
Twatter was spending $92,000 a day on free food and wine 6 months ago. About 350-550 people were actually consuming the food. That’s just unacceptable.
I had TWTR stock and for years they promised some profitability and it never happened. It became the Woakist clearinghouse. They just did not care about the investors.
Google, 'We need lay offs, who should go?' Genius (protecting her own position), 'Look through social media to see who is spending their time posting crap instead of actually working.'
This is a great day! I work my ass off every single day, doing hard labor. In freezing cold or blistering heat, I still go to work every day and I'm barely making it week to week. These people are getting paid double and even triple what I make. But they literally do nothing all day. Justice is bitter sweet

You are absolutely correct about what a technical recruiter is. I've been a software engineer for 30 years now, and I remember, even back then, the companies looking to hire IT and other members of the STEM community would have these "technical recruiters". Generally speaking, the technical recruiters had almost zero technical knowledge themselves, and they were almost always relatively attractive women. What better way to get the attention of a bunch of nerds and geeks than to get a pretty girl to talk to them? Particularly when you consider that less than 10% of the student body in STEM disciplines are female, and even fewer of those are attractive.
Yes. As a female in the tech field, I feel so weird out attending tech conferences where the tech promoters hired are basically teenager girls in short skirts and bikinis. And they will play some silly games with adult guys (some of them starting to bald). It is such a weird scene. Like some sort of watered down sleezy bars, only there are some of the biggest tech companies in that conference.
My interviewer exact words from my last employment. "I dont really know what blockchain and cryptocurrency is. So you will be the only one who can be the product knowledge expert and you can teach me." So it was I who approved most tech startups companies in Gibraltar. But I don't even have a college degree.
As a Software Engineer, I don't get treated anywhere close to this. WTF! I have to write a daily report of my accomplishments for the day before I get to leave.
@@Patrick-857 It sucks that it has to be written but working as a manager in marketing, it is crucial for me to know what has been done by the team on a daily. I just ask them and they let me know, which it think it's nicer. Client call me if their project is late so I better know why it's late so I can reorgqnise. I also have to plan out projects so again I need to know what's been done. And then products/services are sold based on the time of production (cost), so you need to keep tabs on that and there is no other way then literally accounting for total hours spent on a project. Actual productive work is not all there is to running a company.
@Tania Scarlett I understand that but there's a right and wrong way to doing management. Management has become very ideological in the corporate world, you know, the type that suddenly decides to spend a ton of money making the offices open plan as if it was a revolutionary new idea. You know what I mean. Good management is about getting the best out of people, and that's not something you can teach in a classroom, it's something some people just have, and most think they have, but absolutely don't.
Thank you. I can't wait to see that video about dogs. I totally agree. Not only are they replacing their maternal need for children with dogs. They are replacing their need for human relationships with dogs. I find it quite evil and ultimately it makes the person sad in the end because dogs on average live only 10 to 15 years and people get so attached to them that when they die it's like actually losing a human loved one.

Even though people are jealous of these kids with these types of jobs, the REALITY is that Americas economy is largely dependent on Healthcare, Technology, Finance, Skilled Trades, and Real Estate and that’s why these workers get paid the big bucks in this country.

@@AzathothTheGreat lol wow.

As someone who deals with technical recruiters, what they are is; charismatic person who knows less than nothing about tech outside key buzzwords. Despite their lack of knowledge, they act as gatekeepers who will reject or approve your ability to talk to hiring managers.

I paused the video and zoomed in to read the “Nap Pod Rules”. I wish I had not.
Interesting story. I hope your family is doing well. 👍
It'll be interesting to see if rent prices go down now that no one is working. Just kidding, of course they won't go down.
Nobody promotes from within anymore.
Your dad is a _man._
He didn't sit down demanding a "safe space" or was offended by "not getting consulted before the firings" which shows that he is a responsible _ADULT_ doing everything for his family.
As someone who is currently a father at 29. I'm also going through this transition. Currently work as a coach but the job is limited to how many people I can get. I've figured. Going into Tech is the best option and I want to learn as much as I can to get started

I'm more concerned about how I'm going to pay for a week's worth of groceries and other things, than going to a theme park spending crap ton of money on over priced food.

@@eiyukabe i still not agree with her though
"WTF did they think was going to happen?"
Thinking wasn't what they did. And that's why they were fired.
In my experience, coders usually have the most job security.
@@asw654 almost seems like they should sign some kind of long term consulting contract with these engineers

I've been a software engineer for 30 years now, and I remember, even back then, the companies looking to hire IT and other members of the STEM community would have these "technical recruiters". Generally speaking, the technical recruiters had almost zero technical knowledge themselves, and they were almost always relatively attractive women.
