20:44 Review of the lens post shoot
When you casually lay $10k worth of gear in a puddle 😱
Love the video, your interaction with the guy smoking is how every interaction with people in life should be
Another great episode! Really love when you explain your settings. It’s so helpful!
Always learning something interesting or new when your videos drop! Also I hope you had an amazing birthday with your family!
I love your excitement throughout the video! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience
I was saving up for the V1... but now after seeing this and Jared Polin's review, I'm going for this. I rented the original 70-200 for a trip to AZ and I remember it just being so heavy to lug around. I got amazing shots with it, but it was a formidable lens to handle.
je kiff les tests d'objectifs ! top tes vidéos, keep going man !
Happiest Birthday Brother 🥳🤩🥳
I always love to see your videos and photography on UA-cam or Instagram!
Keep up the good work and may you have many more!
Love from Pakistan ❤️
I needed to hear that "whooohooo" in the beginning twice haha
such a good energy!
Super video comme d'habitude ! ;)
Sony is killing it. Superb lens, and superb A1. Together….beast mode 😈
I've been waiting for a video from Pierre and finally got one.... lots of Love from India
Your videos and photos are just a blast. Incredibly beautiful. We don't have such a thing, imagine, you are being watched from Russia, in a town in deep Siberia. I had to use a translator, keep shooting, it's gorgeous😉
just bought mk ii! I went down to B&H in Manhattan and tried both! Hands down mk II won! It is so much lighter and the auto focus is sooooo fast! I am so excited for it to be shipped to me! Thank you for this review.
Yoooo love seeing your experience with this new lens, I’m very tempted to buy it ! 💯✔️🔥
I used the V1 as a work horse for a few years on events and what not, it was great but i'd often try and avoid it for anything casual or creative because of the weight, it was just annoying (but got fantastic shots).
SOOO happy with the V2, the weight is honestly the biggest reason i switched over. No regrets, it is a premium priced lens, but if using for paid gigs I wouldn't hesitate to get it. :D
Thanks for so many samples, happy to share it!
Yes, this is one Sony lens I will save up for. I have the Tamron 70-180mm for about a year now. I have watched the comparison between this lens and Tamron, this is only 200g more than the Tamron and I think I can handle it.
Nice! I have the heavy version and I love it.
Awesome ! Just dropped my version one to shop to pre-order new one 😊 can’t to go for hike in alpes with it 🤩🤩
Wow!!!!!! Your pictures are absolutely amazing!!!
Imagine being Orange Car Guy and discovering that Pierre has been stalking you all day
Im a youtuber mainly focused on travel videography . And i have experienced the older 2.8 lens is too heavy that u cant take hand held shots perfectly evenif the video quality is so great. So i have decided to go ahead with the f4 version... 😁😁 but now,im gonna go ahead with the second gen f2.8 version...
Definitely looking into picking up the new version
Those photos are on fire again!!🔥👏🏼
That shot at 17:20 is actually insane with the water reflection in the bokeh!!
Another great video bro!
Great vid Pierre thanks for this. I must say the funny thing is that I like the photos more before you apply the presets to them 😅
I know creative freedom and we all like different things so it's all good, but still funny 🙂
Definitely my next lence! Thanks for the review!
that is an awesome lens I was watching Miguel Quiles on Alpha Universe and he said something to the effect that cameras and lenses are so advanced now they are waiting for the photographer to take the shot. I also liked how he said he can spend more time on the creative side rather than working on the technical side.
It is not completely true. The 70200GM2 can shoot closer at 0.4m @ 70mm which is a practical and creative feature. The lighter weight helps photographers' heath (ok, Miguel shoots mostly in a studio where 50mm / 85mm / 135mm are perfect for him). Tools are still important to photographers to create great creative works.
Just copped this. Can’t wait for it to come in the mail.
Rocking that new lens nice work, you just whipped up better photos in 10 minutes than I have in my collections.
thank you for the thorough hands on review, lighter is a BIG plus, not to mention the bokeh and autofocus...
Fark Yeah! Happy belated!!!
Pierre = big Child 😀
Refreshing Review 🙏🏾
cool shots those are. great job!
wondering what percent do you put the zebra on?
You're making this look fun. I'm gonna have to go try some street photography now.
I like the plain lens hood. Will the new lens hood fit on the old lens?
Love you ❤️ from Tunisia 🇹🇳
Pierre I just suscribed love you vids. What do you use to record while you are shooting? is it a go pro? thanks
hi Pierre! i like u so much man ! u doing good ! i just curious about which gear are you using for that video . i mean gopro or phone ? i know u taking photo with sony but i wanna know which camera you using for taking that vlog ? thanks
my 70-200 f4 is plenty for me :)
also, happy birthday!
Can you test this lens with the 1.4x magnifier? Great review!
I see you set your iso to Auto when running around? Can I ask why, and is have you set it to a max iso within the auto setting? Best, Simon 🇳🇴
Happy birthday🎂🥳🎉🎈🎁🎊🎂
Hey Pierre, great content as usual. I know they are different beasts, but if you had to have the 70-200 gm II OR the 50mm 1.2 gm only, which one would you choose?
70-200 of course
i like your vid so much!
70-200 is always 😍
Nice..you mentioned that the image quality looks the same with prime lense 50 mm f1.2? I just wonder if this is a good portrait lense to use..
i love this lens i use the mk2 for covering events just for videos with the fx3 is my fav lens with the 24-70 mk2 is the best small fast kit
I ordered the mk I during the Sony summer cash back sale but my local photo store somehow lost my order so in the end I didn't get it in time for the cash back and hence never got the lens. Now I'm really happy that that happened and I will definitely get the mk ii. Especially because they improved it in terms of video usage so much.
And now they need to release the 24-70 mk II :)
@@BerserkeR_031 please no! I just got mine 😂
@@thedownhilldiary115 damn, sigma's 24 70 is better
@@BerserkeR_031 It was rumored at the same time as the 70200GM2 but didn't surface. Hope it will come out before Q2 2022?
Thanks to this review, I sold my 70-200 OSS I for 2100 USD and picked up this new model! thanks Pierre
You did well with the V1. V2 is amazing!
The biggest downside of the v1 is just how colossally heavy he is so the decrease in 400g makes this so hard to ignore
Also finally can use the 1.4 / 2.0x perfectly. The v1 is just acceptable with 1.4x (that was still not perfect in terms of AF. The 0.4m min focus @ 70mm is just insanely cool for those rush shots when you cannot change the lens fast enough but want to shoot close.
If you had to choose between the Sony 70-200 GM mark ii and the Sony 100-400 GM. Say you have the Sony 1.4X teleconverter as an option ?
Please share the camera you were using for the behind-the-scene doing streets shooting?
It would be a perfect tele lens for me and my fx6 😉👍🏻 best cinematic greetings from germany
every shot can be a wallpaper!!!
Great! I have to admit I was also hoping it would be a bit smaller. Like the new Canon 70-200mm. But lighter is more important.
Internal zoom vs external zoom....
Canon RF is a joke, yeah shorter but cut the back end. So it cannot use 1.4 / 2.0x which is very important for shooting sports and traveling. A Canon HK ambassador said this is not important and said one can always corp with EOS R5 , did he not think about all those sports shooters? Lastly, he insulted me that I do not know how to use lenses (I was a Canon shooter for 30+ years)! So good when the 70200GM2 came out and my belief is right). Canon really cares, NOT. If you want a shorter and lighter lens, get Tamron 70-300 or Sony 70-300G.
Showing all the different abilities with street photography was a great way to show off the lens!
My new 70-200 MKII weights 1.260gr. Without caps, lens hood and tripod mount itˋs 1.050gr.
Excellent video
I love your Content but also your Jacket!
Looks amazing! What are your zebras set at?
Love you❤️from indonesia🇮🇩
Should be awesome with A1, got my A1 last week
is it a good start for a beginner like me to buy an A7R3 now? Only shooting pictures.
I got the beast, yes it’s really expensive, but it performs out of space 🚀 Sharpness over the top. Highly recommended! Imagine: you take shots with one hand without breaking your arm 😆
I always see these black and white monster lenses for Sony and think damn, I really want such a thing, this is what the pros use. And then I look into my shelf and see my Fuji 50-140 F2.8 which is basically the same, when you add the sensor crop and then I'm happy again. Sometimes I still wish I could afford a whole Sony gear set, but then again I love the fuji xt4 for the quick dials and I tried my GFs Alpha 7 II and didn't get too warm with it. But I feel like Sony pictures just look more details, sharper and just overall better, or people are just a lot better at editing than I am
What put me off with Fuji APS-C system is that its high-end bodies alone cost more than an A7III (which is still a fine camera). When a FF gets better at high ISO. Also, Sony lenses are getting better and better! Why pay more for APS-C sensor system?
@@wingcreator Like I said, I couldn't get along with Sony. Also the price difference is not much, the XT4 with kit lens is like 2000€ and the A7III with kit is like 1950€. The top sony lenses are a lot more expensive than the top fuji lenses. All Sony red badge G master lenses are 1800€ and more up until 2200€. The 8-16mm Fuji is the most expensive "normal" lens at 1600€ and nearly all others are much cheaper. I don't know, the Fuji was my first camera and I like it a lot. Could be different if I went for Sony first, who knows.
@@YouSoerenTube great points. Try to rent a Sony A7iii or get a used one. Might be a great start with the Sony ecosystem and the many third party lenses. Best wishes.
Nice for all the guys getting their 70-200 now! No need to switch for the users of the current ones IMHO (very sharp still and it's a portrait lens for the majority - I had to tone down on sharpness often because it was too crisp ). But the tripod collar is not compatible with arca Swiss mounts - why for heavens sake 😐
Just by a Kirk Arca-Swiss foot for Sony 70-200 GM1/2 / 100400GM. It costs extra but at least better than locking "moving" plates! I agree the original brands need to take a page from Tamron (been making Arca-Swiss) one for a while. However, do not by Leofoto (even though around half the price) but not locking tight enough for my 200600G.
hlo brother! big fan ❤️
Love you bro 🥰🥰🥰
Hello Thanks for this cool video and review, I can’t wait to receive my 🤩🤩 😍😍
Please excuse my ignorance but is he editing the pictures on the computer afterwards to make them look a lot more vibrant, colorful or is that done though the camera?
V2 for sure
fan from india brother soon im going to start vlog like you
Hey Pieere! I love street photography videos! What city was this shot in??
Definitely Chicago. Think he lives there
Making a trip to Chicago the first of December!! Hope to see you out and about shooting !!! If you need a skateboarding subject hit me up 🤙 I bought a canon m200 and could use a few tips
This is INSANE
I have the A1, how to you make the screen flash black when you take a pic ? Thanks
Love From Bangladesh 🖤🇧🇩
Apoco allá tienen internet?
wowwww amazing
Have the mk I and it’s awesome. Never really thought about the weight as I came from the Canon 300 f2.8. If it were lighter would I prefer it? Of course. But would I ever think of upgrading? Absolutely not ;)
Nice video and shots . 3K almost for the lens but I can see why lol
I own the V1 and I have used the V2. Honestly it's only about a pound lighter and has a aperture ring. Other than that, the difference between them won't be noticed in real world working conditions. You can get a V1 from $1850 to $1999. So I cant justify the $800 difference in price at this point. It's great that Sony revamped this lens but don't get caught up in the hype. Is the V2 a great lens, yes. Is it worth upgrading? for me, no.
I love your vids cause when I start to watch it I feel how my mind and body is in your world. You’re so positive! I feel like a little kid with every video you share! First - coffee, second - your vid 😂☕️
Greetings from one pierre to the other 😁
I just missed the test shot while you are on a moving bike, hands-off, and holding the 70-200mm 2.8! haha great video Pierre! Cheers!
Love from India 😍
wow,Amazing
I’m sold! Sony, just take my money!
Previously I had decided to buy 135mm lens, but after this new release, I’m really confused. Should I go for 70-200 or 135 ?! Please help!
I own the two lenses. The 135 is a killer lens. But so is the new 70-200. Different lenses… price, size, weight, zoom or prime?
I’m waiting on that 24-70 f2.8 to get a version 2
WTFFFFFF ITS OUT ALREADY? YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WHAT ABOUT THE 24-70 II?
My favorit canadian, Ontario !!!!!! whoop whoop
11:20 you got Joe Gatto!
What is the price of the lens and who can get it? You are artistic and love photography🥰😍😁👏
Is camera safe in downtown Chicago?
I just started with photography sir, you should let me have the old lens if you don’t mind 🙏 I currently have the a7iii and 85mm sigma 🙏🙏🙏 god bless you!
Does anyone know when they are restocking more of those lens?
Super bro
