I’ve done that on multiple cars I have owned. Also have done wheels which have lasted for years. And would you say for the most part the streaky look was only up close because I have used plastidip before and it’s a hit or miss on whether you see the streaks in your end result. End result doesn't look too bad but my that was painful to watch. First coat was way too thick, although the first pass was good but you then went over with a thick coat before before it dried and then subsequently every coat after you could clearly see the dip was not dried completely, Then out with your mom's hair drier to dry it off... it only takes 10-15 minutes.. There's no rush.
    Looks good though :)

    • @Frankiegisme
      @Frankiegisme  8 років тому

      Since I'm in Arizona everything drys super fast. So what was happening was the dip was almost dry as I did the pass. So I had to spray thicker to keep it wet longer so the next pass would blend with it. Also, the dip was fully dry each time I started a new coat. At 7:15 I started applying the glossifier which is why it still looks wet. Using a sprayer is way easier and faster. So anytime I do large surfaces in going to use my sprayer. Thanks for watching 🐼

    You were all over the place, you never let the dip dry in between coats... hell even the coats were not fully complete. You missed the driver side section between the sunroof and the windshield multiple times. You even applied the glossifier over a wet black coat... Also... quick detailer is not spray wax. Quick detailer is quick detailer, quick wax is a spray wax. Just saying.
    If you were to do this again, take your time and do nice even coats and let them FULLY dry before starting a second coat. You will have much MUCH better results and a more even coverage.

    • @Frankiegisme
      @Frankiegisme  8 років тому +2

      Your eagle eye for detail seems to lack when it comes to... well detail. On each coat I used a blow dryer to completely dry each layer. You should definitely try the blow dryer technique, it will save tons of time. Thanks for watching 😋

    • @NuarStanger
      @NuarStanger 8 років тому +4

      Right there at around the 9:18 - 9:40 mark you can clearly see the entire section on the rear driver side still wet and glossy as you are spraying the glossifier.
      Whatever makes you happy man. As long as you are happy with the end result, that's all that matters.

      I don’t know what people are giving you shit for man because you did a great job at dipping your roof. I’ve seen other videos where theirs turns out horribly because they’re all over the place. Looked like you were symmetrical for the most part and did it as properly as you could with using the spray can without any sort of spray nozzle attached. I’m looking to spray my Jeep hood either a gloss or matte black and am studying on how to do it right. If you lived near me id pay you to do the same for my hood. Nice man! Looks great if you ask me. Any tips?

      I used 5 cans of black and 3 of the glossifier. I would suggest getting 10 cans of black and 4 cans of glossifier just in case. Also, changing to a high flow nozzle rather then the standard plasti dip nozzle will help layout more dip helping to keep it wet longer (better finish). Just be careful not to over saturate, otherwise you'll get runs (bad finish).

    • @Frankiegisme
      @Frankiegisme  6 років тому +2

      I recommend spraying 3-4 coats of glossifier then if you want shinier you can use a tire shine. Plasti dip is rubber based and I found that tire shine works great on it
