I bought a c2 motorsports 630cc vr6 tuned ecu for my car originally, 2.8 24v GT3582R. For whatever reason it would try and idle at 10 AFR 250-300 rpm. I tried multiple MAF intake piping setups, super long, bends, no bends, straighteners, spent an entire day trying to see if my fuel system was at fault, another for electrical issues, multiple MAFs, pressure tested my whole system looking for leaks... got it to the point of no leaks and was still doing the same thing. It seemed to act up over the compression ratio. When I had a 9:1 spacer in it would start up normally. Went to 8.5:1 pistons and it never wanted to idle proper again. I had a 3.2 throttle body thought it was that, swapped a 2.8 one fixed a response issue but no more... I just messed around with everything. Some buddies told me the compression ratio didn't matter for the tune, is this true? Maybe it was tuned for stock intake manifold and I'm short runner... but ahh I don't know cause part throttle and WOT the car would function quite well but it also seemed like it was dumping too much fuel in, like the oil was completely contaminated with fuel to the point my oil pressure light would come on in 6th gear 80kph. tbh i dont think that custom tunes are "bad" or even worst options than off the shelf ones. I tried several stage 2 apr/revo tunes on different cars. They are REALLY conservative. They just do that to ensure it will work in any car with any fuel. For example where i live, in argentina we have pretty decent premium fuel quality (equivalent to 93 oct USA). On stage 2 2.0tsi k03 engines apr stage 2 tunes makes anywhere from 260 to 275hp, being extremely safe on timming and a little bit on boost. On the same car, with a custom tune, and still relatively safe timming and a tiny bit more boost, i´ve seen 290 to 305hp and a much meatier power curve. We tested both cars against each other on the street and there is not even a chance for the APR tunned. The custom tuned is much faster. Here the cars scene is much more keen on the custom tunes than in the USA. All depends on the vehicle and ECU in the car, and what sort of support is offered for it. Also depends on what you're doing with the car. For track use, data logging, endless add on sensor logging and inputs all become important which is where an aftermarket ECU shines.
Gotta disagree on you with tunes messing your vehicle up. Now this did happen over years (tuned in 2011) , but my chip tune in my mk4 Jetta lost its soldering connection and made a load of problems on my car, and I had to order a new ecu. Now I’m looking to get it tuned back to where it was.
Thats an ecu not tune issue. We've had a handful of ECUs where resistors/capacitors break off the board, in stock form as well. Nothing tune related. Now if someone socketed a chip to your board many moons ago then yes there's always room for error there as you're physically tampering with the ecu. Not the case now a days.

i own a 2012 GTI and i am interested in doing a custom tune on it with eurodyne maestro. I know a little bit about tuning from hp tuners, but not with eurodyne. Would you recommend getting eurodyne maestro?
I use it quite a bit but it's pretty complex to be honest. My suggestion if you're not doing this for a living and want to do a big turbo setup... go with UM as you can purchase their tunes with the ability to easily change boost, and timing without the complexity.
According to the serial number of my turbo charger, I have a rev 9 k03/k04 turbo. Is that a full K04? I am thinking of getting a Borg Wagner K04, since I got a stage 2 tune, and was told I needed to pay the extra 50 for the K04. Could I just replace the current turbo charger with the B W k04?
Since I have no idea what car you're talking about... No clue, all depends on provider and what's flashed to the car currently. Reach out to your tuning provider.

It is straight piped with a Magnaflow muffler at the end, K&N air intake and a blow off vavle. I love and want 2 step but scared of what it will do to my engine :) What should I do?
You shouldn't have a blow off valve if you're running a MAF sensor which this vehicle has from factory. As for which company, my suggestion is to speak to your local tuner. We generally determine where the engines headed power wise (for future upgrades) and what the vehicles being used for and recommend a software to match those needs.

Does clearing an engine light or disconnecting the battery for a bit change fuel trims on a tuned car? Does a tunnel ECU still adjust as a non tuned one does?
Clearly engine codes definitely resets fuel trims... but they're usually back to normal within a couple minutes of driving, unless they're really really far off and the ECU can't correct for them.

@@COMotorsports like in terms of the engine like how people are doing the 2.7 or 3.0 swap or on the ECU like mega squirt or haltech?
@@dominicandawg3455 any good standalone will do a great job running whatever engine you want. Haltech, Ecumasters, Link, fueltech the list goes on.

Hi what u recommended for me,a 2008 audi s6
i own a 2012 GTI and i am interested in doing a custom tune on it with eurodyne maestro.
I'm trying to build a obd2 vr6 12v and I have not ecu it n/a right now but I want to turbo it can you help me on any brands
United Motorsport for sure.
Do I need a tune if I put an intake and catless downpipe on my car?
Depends on the car. But catless downpipe is generally always going to give a CEL without tuning.
@@COMotorsports 2002 GTi 1.8t. AWP 6 speed. I got what was known as a Gonzo tune stage 2. The model number on the turbo charger is TC-005. It appears to be a K04. The tune is suppose to give me 22psi, I have only reached 14Psi. Again, wondering if getting a legit turbo charger increases the psi.
@@trojangpete8 All depends on what your issue is. Generally we troubleshoot and find issue before chucking parts at them.

99.5 Jetta gls vr6 auto.
I'd like to do a tune , I realize it's not gonna be a rocketship all of a sudden but I'd like a little more pep in her step.
The trans has been serviced like 4x in 130k miles,I guess alot of folks rip on those transmissions because of strength so I don't really want to nuke it either if that's the case.
Im guessing I'm better off to just send my ECU out to someone.
(got any suggestions?)
Yeah there's a little bit of power left on the table with a tune on the 12v. The issue will be it being a 99.5.
@@COMotorsports
Haha I kinda figured that , it seems the 99.5 is the oddball early car.
Not opposed to shipping it (ECU) somewhere if I have to though, I'd wager that's my only option.
@@MrTheHillfolk so what happens with it being a 99.5 mdl year? And is it a 12 valve vr6 naturally aspirated?
@@COMotorsports I've seen some decent deals on 99.5 mdl years, have been thinking of adding a turbo or supr charger to a vr6, how do these motors do on boost, and what's the deal with the ecu's on the 99.5's??
Thank you for all of the great info too btw!!
@@BabyCharlotteschannel nothing really ,it's a Mk4 ,it's just 99 was a split year ,the 2nd half was mk4s.
Nobody likes a new model year, they can be filled with bugs and whatnot.
I guess some of the early vs later (past 01) differences are I don't have the side curtain airbags or an immobilizer.
That actually made the Smyth ute build easier in my case.
how many miles is too much to flash?
there isn't an answer, if it works good and engine is healthy miles means very little.
What software do I need to learn tuning on my mk4? I want to use this car to learn on. I want to actually learn how to create the file not just upload it
You have a lot of homework to do. Not the easiest car or ECU to be starting to learn on. The VW ECU's are very complex.
Question I did a 3.2 swab From a Touareg Into a mk4 2.8 24v I'm running the 3.2 with a stuck ECU what tune do you recommend?
The video sort of explains it, it's whatever's the best option for you and your long term goals. Only you know that.
Do you think a stage 1 tune would get rid of a CEL caused by installing a high flow cat w/downpipes on my 2010 Audi a4?
Not unless you get the 02 deleted out.
Im looking for a gti or a old vw to buy wich one is the best bamg for your buck?
This is such a broad question it's impossible for me to answer. Like best bang for the buck in what regards? If you want reliable and lots of power buy a 2023 GTI it'll come with warranty also.
@@COMotorsports just looking to get my hand in a euro car i was looking at the newer gti’s but since I’ve always been a jdm guy it’s a hard lake to jump. But i like the older model mostly vr’s they sound orgasmical
@@4klp59 your right about the sound of the VR, but I'd recommend a mk7r.
Would I be able to just send you my ecu and you tune it and send it back?
For a lot of ECUs Yes. Email us.
Dude about the only info i trust online anymore is from you. Do you do tuning by mail, or remote tuning? (basic stage2 nothing special)
Appreciate it. It depends on vehicle. Send us an email and we can help in one way or another.
would you even consider doing a low boost, low power, 87(canadian) octane tune on a stg 2 fsi mk5 gti? is it posible?
Hello no.
Do you do E tuning ?
Depends what it is.
What do you do when nobody provides service to your specific engine, with specific mods.
Standalone
@@COMotorsports not much of an option then, as they don't communicate well with other modules in a Vw.
@@kainariylius392 depends what vehicle and what standalone. But there's definitely options for a good handful of VW engines.
i have an 01 jetta 1.8t what tune do you think would be onn my car i get 18lbs of boost
Zero clue
What’s a good access port tuner for a Mk4 Jetta 1.8t I don’t know what I can get
We use Eurodyne Maestro 7 on most custom 1.8t builds. Or standalone.
What company would YOU recommend for either a stage 1+ or stage 2 on my Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t 2002 GLS? its my summer car but I plan on semi daily driving it, i will alternate between my motorbike and the Jetta.
CO Motorsports Okay cool thanks for the infoo! Btw i meant diverter valve! Keep up the awesome vidss

Sorry we did not get the Sharan here.
@@COMotorsports the engine is the same as the late model 2002 2.8 4motion Golf so I assume it will run with the same management as those.

What do you need to tune a mk4 1.8t yourself
A few hundred hours of reading and scouring through the internet.

No sorry
hello CO motorsports
i want to ask a question
i remapped my bmw 520d couple years ago
but whatever i do (putting back an version of a 520d or software update) it doesn't seems to go back to original
if i go the a bmw dealer and ask them to install a new ECU (with new reprogramming, so not a copy of my old ECU) will that make my car back to original? like the remap never happened?
thank you in advance
Your tuning provider should be able to assist in putting your vehicle back to a stock file.
@@COMotorsports thanks for the reply,
but thing is i don't think the tuner have my original file anymore since it was years ago,
if i go to another tuner and i explained my problem will he able to help me?
@@qaching If your old tuner offers tunes for your ECU/Vehicle then they should have a file for you.
Sup CO is it normal to hear a pretty loud boosting noise on a pull with around 18 19 20lbs? Exapmle my k03s for years went WEEEeee pshhhh. It went out had MASSive play all of a sudden, got a k04.It seems the same but my beloved WEEEeee is so quiet now pshhh is still there nice a loud. Are they ever supposed to sound like that?
Sorry man, it's hard to troubleshoot boost sounds through text. Lol
Are there any good options for stand alone or after market engine management boxes? Or is that really just for stripped down race cars?
There are endless, it simple chives down to what you want out of it, and your budget.
