I love the Unitronic set up. I've got a different tune and every time VW releases a Software update I have to go back, have thee tune removed, go to the dealer get the upgrade, then go back and have the tune put on. This would save hours of time.. and money (since every time I have my tune changed I have to pay for it). One thing you might have overlooked, while it's important to make sure the car is connected to a charger, it's probably equally important to make sure your laptop is fully charged and /or plugged in..
So if you jump straight to let's say buying the stage 2 tune, that would also allow access to stage 1 and one plus like we saw on your screen? Or did those show up because you've already purchased those before?

Great! Had a Saab and used trionic now have a vw and unitronic looks good. Question though... I'm not interested in uploading a tune, I'd just like to connect to the ecu via the obd2 port and do a backup of the ecu so if it fails I have a restore point. Hexprog does this but I'd have to remove the ecu for it... does unitronic allow for backups to be performed? Would that be a subscription based vin lock as well?

A few weeks ago i install the neuspeed power module and i love it a lot, I just want a little increase in power and don’t want problem with the warranty and what do you think about this power module also if you did a DYNO test ? Quick question: I have an existing APR Stage 1 file installed with the car, do I have to send the car away to have it removed first, then come back to install the Unitronic file? If I have purchased both ECU and TCU files, which one do I install first?
I mean, the TCU one is directly for your automatic transmission, and your tuned volumetric efficiency maps (injection maps) are directly for your ECU, so if your question is if it affects somehow each other, in short, no, it doesn’t, unless you drive the car with let’s say the original injection maps and the mod TCU files, in that case, the answer is yes, but not at an extremely amount, if you modified your injection maps without modifying the TCU, it doesn’t affect at all, remember that your maps, at the end of the day are still files, that can be written an rewritten, so yes, it needs to be exchanged for whatever other map you want to install on them, cuz your ecu needs to read out those files in order to execute those actions.

I just purchased a 2012 MK6 GTI with DSG and was wondering if I went with this to tune, could I purchase the Stage 2 tune and just tune my car with 1+ until I purchase the downpipe later and than bump up to 2 later on? Would I unlock the stage 1 and 1+ with the purchase of stage 2 basically. Also, would the DSG tune be a must have if I tune?

I have the 2019 GTI and purchased stage 2 software, but when I went to go tune my car there were no files on my Uniconnect cable So then I contacted Unitronic and they uploaded stage 2 file on my account but now it says "GLI" instead of GTI file and they haven't gotten back to me yet So I guess my question is, did Unitronic screw up by sending me wrong file? or is it safe to flash GLI file on my GTI?
Deutsche auto parts: I have a golf mk5 2.0l FSI and I was wondering if remapping it is first possible and second of any use. I don't pretend and especially don't want to transform it in any GTI or R. Nice video. So I have a VW golf mk4 1.4 75hp, and I've changed the intake manifold with one found on the vw polo 1.4 102hp. I also changed the throttle body from a 46mm diameter to the 64mm diameter, the stock injectors with thouse found on a 1.6 105hp vw golf mk4, deleted the catalitic converter, aded a short ram intake, an oil catch can and deleted my Egr valve. The question is what sort of tune do I need for this to run properly? This software will work on my engine setup? Thank you very very much. Good work with these videos.

Five days out of the year, I track the car for a full intense day of heavy braking, acceleration, and shifting! I'm convinced that the car performance would benefit from an upgrade, especially to boost hp/torque in the lower gears. With that said, I only need this boost for limited time throughout the year, perhaps for intense summer tracking months. My question is would the Unitronic connect allow for frequent and easy uninstall and reinstalls. OR would this situation be better served with a power module, such as JB1 or Neuspeed? Would you still recommend Unitronic to someone who doesn't have an authorized dealer anywhere near them? They only shop near me is an APR one. I was leaning toward them for sake of having a local dealer. I really want good support from a shop especially if a tune screws with my factory warranty.
Drew If you are looking to potentially preserve your warranty using the Uniconnect cable to flash your car will allow you to flash back to stock on your own when bringing your vehicle for service. It really boils down to what you feel comfortable with but the video above show the process to flash the vehicle which would be the same for stock. So if you think you are OK with doing what is shown here no real need to have a software dealer do anything for you.
Have you put it on the dyno with stage 2 yet? I'd prefer to get Unitronic but it seems like APR and Eurodyne offer much more torque. Eurodyne is also $200 cheaper. I've had a downpipe installed for months but I can't decide on a tune.

No. This cable can only be used with Unitronic tunes. To do a custom flash you'd almost certainly need to open up the ECU, which is a very risky procedure.

I don't see any tunes for a 2012 beetle. I'm about to start doing mods to it now that it's paid for. It's 2.0 TSi so can I just use MK6 GTI tunes?
If you already have an authorized Ross-tech cable for a MK7 GTI, do you need a unitronic cable too? or just the software to tune?
a Ross Tech cable will not allow you to flash the vehicle. You will need the Uniconnect cable to do this.

Go on e b a y and buy the vcd cable and use nefmoto!! You can do any stage tune you want for under $20 (for the cable, nefmoto is free!!)

Does your DCT tune play nice with APR Stage 1? I tried APR's DCT tune but hated it.

Quick question, can this cable be used at a tuner shop to do a custom tune? I don't mind running a pre made flash but every motor is different needs a personal tune to get the most out of a tune.
No. This cable can only be used with Unitronic tunes. To do a custom flash you'd almost certainly need to open up the ECU, which is a very risky procedure.
