That Eclipse was a lot of fun. Good memories. After extensive research, I chose 034 over IE because of their positive reputation, customer service, massive catalog of parts and software upgrades, online content, weekly live chats, and proximity to my home. When I browsed forums for either company, I found a lot of people struggling with errors and faults from IE. I didn't see that with 034. I also got the impression from the live chats on UA-cam that the leadership at 034 is obsessed with quality AND performance, not just performance. So far, I haven't been disappointed one bit. Service, reliability, and performance have been amazing.
@@midlifemods Yeah loved my Eclipse and it got great mileage. I had the non turbo and not the turbo charged versions, which was all I could afford at the time. I have been debating whether to go with 034 or IE and know 034 is a little cheaper I believe. But not sure if 034 makes a tune for my A6 C7. Looks like they only make a tune for the A6 C7.5 instead. Might have to go with IE if that's the case.
Have you noticed much difference in gas milage after tune or is it too early to tell, I have a 2017 s5 but if anything it is the 4 year warranty I bought with car that's stopped me from tuning it. That and the fact that tuning while making it faster is probably going to mess with gas milage and the main reason for me getting s5 instead of the 4.0 s6 or even the s8 which are faster to start with was that balance of power to consumption. Funny that we're always looking for more I keep looking at these videos and thinking about it. Enjoy your car mate they are definitely a lot of fun.
Hi Gary, I actually haven't been paying much attention to the mileage. I've been having too much fun with the increased HP and torque to notice. I'm probably not getting great mileage these days because I'm pushing it on every highway onramp and green light. 😄 But I'm sure it's pretty obvious that I'm not making these modifications for practical reasons so even if I lost MPG, I'd still be happy 😁
@@midlifemods lol that kinda says if you tune it and don't use it then it will be the same but if you enjoy it and use the extra power then it's going to drink it. Oh dear me and my heavy right foot would be in trouble as there's no way I am not going to make the best of it. good find mate thanks for posting.
If this is a 2022 S4, I am under the assumption that you only installed the ECU tune due to the locked TCU? Can you elaborate on what the difference may be in terms of performance? I inquired about a mod only for the auto-off button 🤣
This is an early 2022. Late 2021 production. ECU was/is not locked. I’m stage 1 E85 now which you can see in subsequent videos. I’ve added an intercooler, intake and turbo inlet. I’m hovering around 500hp at the crank now.
I see, you got it just in time. Thanks for fast response. I am thinking of getting 91 stage 1 with my s4 bone stock but my TCU is locked so i am hesitant. The 034 is still recommending i get it for the ECU related performance (why wouldn’t they?). I can not find anyone with a 2022 S4 with the Locked TCU that still tuned THE ECU and is using the Patch. Quality videos and your humor integration is on point.
@@estevanarreola8408Thank you! I appreciate the support. Well I enjoyed the 91 octane stage 1 for a while… until I wanted mo power baby! 😂 but seriously, in my opinion (and I don’t make any commission from 034) I think stage 1 91 octane is worth it. You’ll definitely notice a difference.
That may have solidified the decision for me. I worry for the warranty aspect that in a sense it voids warranty. Have you had any warranty scares or have you taken your car to the dealer flashed being you’re most likely still under warranty since its a 22? My dealer guy said just flash back before i bring it in lol
I have taken it to the dealership for several basic maintenance issues. The risk really depends on the issues. Some issues can be resolved with basic inspection. Others require plugging the ecu into Audi’s diagnostic computer. Well that computer can send data to Audi corporate and flag your car if it’s tuned. So you just need to tell your dealership service center not to plug it in to that without your permission. Because even if you flash it back back to stock, Audi may be able to see that it’s tuned. But yes. I’ve had it serviced under warranty without issue.
That's a great idea. Yes, I'll put together a quick mods list video showing all the parts I've put on and prices, as well as my plans for future mods. Thanks for the request.
Really entertaining video. Thanks for posting. I just bought a Quantum Gray 2020 S4 a couple weeks ago with nearly every option package available. I'm a pretty big VAG fanboy, although I traded a M235i xdrive on the S4. Two completely different beasts. I've run both APR and Unitronic tunes on my previous Vdubs and Audis but never 034. Can you only use a PC and not a Mac with the 034 tune?
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Technically only PC at the moment BUT, 034 is about to launch a mobile tuning app for Android and Apple phones so you can use your phone at that point. The e85 stage 1 tune with 034 is incredible!
I loveeee this channel! I have b9 S5 sportback with JB4 due to warranty:( but soon I’m gonna jump in to 034 stage2! I was wondering if you done anything to your exhaust ?
Thank you Jimmy! Nothing to the exhaust. The pops and bangs are really brought out with the 034 tune. Exhaust is pretty low on my list at the moment because I'm so happy with the way it runs and sounds now. What are you thinking about exhaust?
@@midlifemods I just have all the resonators removed. I’m shocked that your pops and bangs are that loud without any exhaust modifications. 034 just woke everything up.
@@midlifemods I wish you would have talked about the warranty being voided or what comes along with it in the video that's really what's holding me back from an ecu and tcu tune on my s3
@Luke A I'm happy to address it here if you'd like. I know a lot of people have concerns about the warranty, but that didn't hold me back for a few reasons. And this is not legal advice. 🤣 1. The quality and support from 034 Motorsport is incredible. 2. I have a great relationship with my local mechanic at German Auto Specialist. 3. I have a great relationship with my local Audi dealership service department. 4. I bought this car to drive it on and off the track and modify it to enjoy it to the fullest. I'd rather do that now with low miles than have to wait and start modifications 40k miles in. Such a long time to wait for so much fun. And at this point in my life, I wanted to really enjoy it. 5. If you have a good relationship with your local dealership, you shouldn't have to worry too much about the warranty. Obviously, there is no guarantees, and I recognize the risk, but hey. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. :)
Disclaimer: 034 Motorsport provides battery tender recommendations with the installation guide they provide. I did NOT use one of their recommendations. I used a cheap TACKlife jumper/tender I bought off Amazon. It seemed to work fine, and the software update was so quick it was no issue.
Thanks for this! Considering a stage 1 for my '17 SQ5. It already does 155 MPH, and can get 500 miles to a tank, so I'm kinda reluctant. Any issues with getting it smogged?
Thanks for watching! Because it's new, I won't have to smog it for about 8 years. Even then, I think I'd be fine because I have the stock catted downpipe and I'm running 91 octane. IF I replace the downpipe I could have an issue with smog.
You only run into smog issues if you modify the downpipe (primarily) or exhaust (secondarily). As long as you keep those stock (which means you can go to stage 1 but not stage 2) you're fine. Throw on a better intake and intercooler and go stage 1. Money well spent.
You're correct; however, I live in Southern California and unfortunately CA has emission restrictions so I can't get 93. I CAN, however, get E85. That tune will significantly bump up my HP. So that's coming in a alter video.
While I know the B9 is better in the end game my B8.5 S5 IE tuned stage 1 is running 3.5 0-60 at 11.9 quarter mile. Love it, at half the price currently! Edit and it looks better, subjective I know but common... B8.5 with mods looks best... sorry anyone with any other car. =)
@@midlifemods If it was 5 years ago I'd buy the b9 but it feels good to own a B8.5 with 40k and no payments. Have everything to go stage 2+ but removing the cats. Holding off for now. Car looks fantastic tho and the times are great for what it is. But these days getting this kind of car at half the price I paid is really amazing. Money no object obviously I'd go B9. If you have the money to spend there is nothing better IMO.
Not according to 034 Motorsport. They have cars in their possession that have far more miles than mine and they’re still running strong. I’ve also noticed happy high mileage customers in the 034 customer Facebook group. I’m at 30k miles now and no issues.

LOL 96 Eclipse was my first new car. Why did you go with 034 instead of IE?
How about the warranty risks? Was it worth it?
I think it was well worth it. I've been having so much fun with it and have no issues so far.
I too am mid life moddin. 45 and got a 19’ S5 SB prestige. Not my first crisis car but def my favorite
Alright Gary. I'm at 21 mpg for long-term average. Hope that helps.

Did you not get the tcu tune? I find gearbox is main issue on this car gears all over the place like the downshift is none existent.
I’m also stage 2 TCU with 034. Very happy with the shifting.
can u make a full mod list please!!!
That's a great idea. Yes, I'll put together a quick mods list video showing all the parts I've put on and prices, as well as my plans for future mods. Thanks for the request.

Car sounds so good!
Night and day difference. I love it!
What battery tender did you use?
@@midlifemods Yeah I think you’re right. I don’t plan on changing the exhaust, although goin with different pulleys in a stage 2 sounds enticing..!
You only run into smog issues if you modify the downpipe (primarily) or exhaust (secondarily). As long as you keep those stock (which means you can go to stage 1 but not stage 2) you're fine. Throw on a better intake and intercooler and go stage 1. Money well spent.

Would there be warrenty issues with the tune?
It's possible. It depends on the issue and it depends on how cooperative the dealership is.
Does it reduce the lifetime of the engine in anyway?
Not according to 034 Motorsport. They have cars in their possession that have far more miles than mine and they’re still running strong. I’ve also noticed happy high mileage customers in the 034 customer Facebook group. I’m at 30k miles now and no issues.

@@midlifemods nice! That’ll sound and of course pull even better. Stage 2 requires downpipes no? I thought of skipping stage one but also being in CA there’s the whole emissions thing…not for you to worry about for a bit though since yours is a 2022.
