Disclaimer, I have a FASS on my truck based on getting a discount for a blem unit on black friday. It's a pump with some filters. I expect nothing more. I still have to make my bed, tie my own shoes, and my life does not have a sexy hip hop soundtrack because of a lift pump. The marketing about air removal is overhyped. These pumps remove air by allowing it to rise to the top of the second filter housing. It does the same thing in your fuel tank. The OEM draw straw and pickup basket is really well engineered and do a good job at the task for which it was designed. Airdog/Fass pumps actually introduce air back into the fuel by constantly trickling/splashing fuel back into the tank from the filler neck...unless you route the return back to a sump or a draw straw, to the bottom of the tank. I'm not saying FASS is a better product or a better company to work with but filter choice is not a reason to avoid them. The 1-14 filter format that FASS uses has more options available for filters with many filters that are a better option than the FASS branded units. For many years FASS used Donaldson before having their logo printed onto filters. Donaldson, CAT, Baldwin, Luberfiner (Cummins), Wix, etc. Lots of options out there also for Airdog (15/16 thread) filters but I think the 1-14 is more common in the trucking and equipment world. That is, if you do your filter shopping by looking at spec sheets and test data rather than youtube videos with hip hop music in the background. In fact, the new FASS filter strategy (140 micron on the primary) is not something I agree with. I'd never run their filters based on this. I want a quality water separator in the first position with low resistance to flow and a reasonable level of first pass filtration, and a quality super-fine filter in the second position. This is true (in my opinion) airdog or fass. FASS also uses 1/2" NPT, 1/2" hose barb, and 8-AN hardware connections, which is arguably more common in the aftermarket world than the quick connect fittings on the airdog if you want/need to deviate from the one size fits all kit hardware that the kits come with. The people at FASS are douchebags, but that's pretty common with all the overpriced, boutique, aftermarket diesel parts suppliers. Mostly because we as customers let them get away with it. I expect nothing less than the technical aptitude of a drunken five year old when I call.

Respect the comments but, your airdog already died once, my fass has over 100k miles on it. Fass makes a multitude of filters including the old style with water drains and your lift pump does not determine fuel pressure. Your pressure regulator is what determines final pressure to the fuel rail.
Soo because it died once there bad? Had no issues after swapping the pump. They honored it and no problems. There is nothing wrong with the regulator setting fuel pressure. Hey cam after watching this video i decided my next upgrade will be a lift pump then after that i want to dual fuelers. I have a question though is there even a point to do all this with stock injectors? I really want to ride the stock ones out and replace them and do head studs when they finally go out so i can do it all at once. Also do you know how much hp the stock injectors can handle for a 4th gen 6.7? I also do not intend on changing out the turbo. I really wana get in the 550 hp range. Thanks man
A fass or airdog is a great upgrade for any diesel truck even if you are keeping it stock! But in your case, duel fuelers would be a huge waste of money. There is no point in going duel fuelers if you are keeping stock injectors and stock turbo. You can make 550hp with the stock CP3 injection pump.
@@darkirondiesel hey dark iron love your vids man thanks forthe response. Aside from head steads and trans uogrades would yo recommend any other upgrades for that 550ish hp?
For 550hp u can see that on stock injectors. I recommend dual fuelers just cause it cuts the work load in half for the cp3 which will pretty much double the life span of a cp3 even tho they already are extremely reliable and long lasting. I would do head studs sooner than later. People blow head gaskets on stock injectors all the time. Head studs are a excellent assurance mod. For 550 hp all you need really is good tuning. Certain tuning companies have made up to 650 on stock injectors. So I would do dual fuelers and get you some good tuning from a reputable tuner after dual fuelers and you'll be good.

Airdog is used in 2k hp builds. Both are good pumps and work as advertised but like the title of the video I explain why I chose airdog over a fass. Where did u get the information from that fass was proven to outperform airdog? Just curious cause if it's any of the fass videos then that's irrelevant
@Everythang Diesel The Fass uses 10ga wiring and AD uses 14ga, the Fass seems to filter water better and will cutoff flow saving motor. AD won't filter as much water and will let it pass when full
@@mrmotofy but how can u tell it filters better than airdog? I've never got a fuel in water light ever on my truck. I'm not talking about each brand endorsed videos showing it but actual facts or 3rd party testing.
I believe it’s personal preference. They both do the same job and the AD is over $100 more. I too have seen independent testing that favors the FASS so that’s what I went with but, we’ll see….
@Everythang Diesel So ho many times have you adjusted the pressure since installing, and what required it? I'm betting none. Order for the correct model and it's ready to go
How was the installation with the airdog? The fass you have to drop the tank with airdog you do not? I'm in a cross roads right now trying to pick the best one
Sorry guys, there is no comparison between the two. If you really need to seperate water from the fuel then you need the Fass because Air Dogs filters can't. If you trust the fuel you're buying and just want a pump then probably doesn't make any difference which way you go, but why spend all that money for just a faulty pump? From an engineering stand point the Air Dog is a pump and the Fass is a pump and a fuel and water seperater and a fuel polisher. Air Dog is neither. There's a sucker born every minute. P.T. Barnum

I've seen the red balwin filters are they good too?
Yes they are...I use them on my semi truck as well....they are right up there with Donaldson filters
Definitely been curious between the two before I get one
Either one is an excellent investment for your trucka
The fass doesn't have a drain because it absorbs the water and prevents any from getting to the engine, they have some ballsy demo videos
@@remorestagno I know they do but another big thing is customer service and I know people personally that swear by both but that air dog hands down better service if you have a problem
@@jessethomason9997 my mechanic has only had to warranty 3 of them and hasn't had a single issue with replacement. That aside the amount of water that fass filters out is amazing. That's enough reason for me.
The filters fass use im not a fan of and yes I can attest the airdog customer service is spot on though
Thank you for the information! I love your side steps!
So this bypass you’re factory system?
love the videos. I have a 2007 6.7 and i'm really on the fence from starting to build it vs selling and buying a newer 4th gen.
Had 4 go back in one year tossed that junk and got a fass been in the truck for 8 years never touched it just changed the filters
Cat filters are way better, we use them on the oil field for oil coolant and air.
I got AirDog and loving it
Hell yeah same here bro
Wow so just the savings on fuel filter costs will make up for the whole installation in a few years
Several long years haha depending on how many miles u put on the unit. But I would agree man
@EverythangDiesel what is the one engine or fuel mod that you did that made the biggest difference in your in truck? Noticeable difference?
Tuning
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL thanks for the reply. You truck is awesome keep up the good work
Thanks man I appreciate it a lot!
Can you run the cat adapter mod and a lift pump??
You can, airdog sells the adapter
Does sir dog make lift pump for l5p have a Fass in truck now 220
Yes they do!
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL which air dog could be used in modified 2018 l5p ! I am using Fass lift pump 220 ! I wanted ability to control fuel pressure ! I can not do that on Fass unless take it apart !
@@jeffjesky3547 a airdog 5g 165gph would be perfect. Good for up to 800hp fueling
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL thanks sir I can just use same draw straw from Fass ya think ? Or do I need change out all lines ya think ?
@jeffjesky3547 u could try, worse case you have to swap it out
Question, does it matter if my truck has an electric fuel pump when purchasing a air dog ll 4G and a beans sump???
Thanks in advance.
this is an accesory mod. you should be fine
Curious, do you still run the in place Stock filters? Or are they eliminated?
It’ll run the stock filter since the return line goes through it, but they do make delete kits!
The air dog pumps only last 30,000 miles at most fyi... I own the same pump as you and i hate it. Fass pumps last over 6 times longer FYI lol....
False because I out damn near that many miles on my truck since installing my pump and no issues
If you make a statement like this, back it up with proof, I call bullshit on this one.
You probably run your fuel down low then ever since I got my airdog it's been running fine for me
Bs... I have had airdog on semi truck for over 300k miles with no issues.
Thank you lol
Hey man wondering if u could help me out not sure if you know anything regarding this but i just replaced my o2 censor my truck threw a code p0131 now this morning my light came on again saying P2A01 bank 1 censor 2 i think its my downstream o2 sensors why would these be coming on like that? And do i need to change them out right away? My truck has 178k on it i do a fair amount of city driving so idk if that has anything to do with it and its all stock. Thanks man!😬
Is it a diesel? If its a cummins u might need to do a manual regen
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL yes its a 09 6.7 how do i do a manual regen i had no idea u could
Need a tuner or scan tool of some sort
Which beans sump are you using?
The only one I knew about idk the model number
Fass says that air dog lift pumps will no give 165gph
Yea and chevy will say ford can't tow as much as their truck lol I wouldn't take it from there competition about what the airdog could do
Those amp steps for ur truck? Lol not really related to the vid but they look a little small? And yea I’ve been on the fence on fass or airdog but going airdog for sure now
Amp only makes one size for these trucks so on a megacab they will look a little smaller haha. Airdog is solid man!
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL oh gotcha yea the megacab a big bissshh lol and yea after checking out your vid I’m going with airdog
Do you have any leaks from your sump pump ?????? Thanks
No I don't since I installed the beans diesel sump. I had a cheap ebay Chinese one that did leak. But once I did the beans diesel one I never had a issue.
How has your lift pump holding up so far?
And what was wrong with your first lift pump?
Still works no issues, and harness shorted out above turbo housing which caused the pump to fry.
You're in the aviation community ?? I'm in school to be an airframe and powerplant mechanic. Been following your channel for a while just never picked that up.
Yea I work on helicopters man. That's good and thank you!
To answer your question yes its a point and worth doing dual fuelers.
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL thank you. Im taking you and dark iron diesels comments in consideration. I know for sure I am getting a lift pump. As far as fuelers go maybe there might be other more important mods I should do first. Id love to spend a bunch of money on this truck and get 700+ horse.. but its a daily driver and i tow. plus I dont have that much money.. haha one part at a time.
Honestly even tho as you know we are a fast dealer we don’t push them we sell air dog because the coustomer service is AWESOME I hate having to call fass I know it’s going to be a hassle we have coustomers who have 2 fasses so the can switch out wheneaver it fails so there truck isn’t Down for 2 weeks when they send it in for repair
Theee Jake Ashby watched my vid im honored bro haha. Yea man I mean what u said hit it on the head, I've heard lot of people say the same thing. Airdog CS was smooth and I had a new pump in a day when my first one got fried. No issues since then going on 2 years

Which model of air dog pump do you ? Thanks
Airdog II 4G 165gph. I mention what model pump i have in the video👀
Sorry man just getting into the diesel community- you said you can also run the cat filters on the AirDog setup. What’s the advantage of running a Cat filter??
Bigger filter, last longer but the other filters are just as good too
8 years on a airdog fp-150 no problems to date.
do you have a AIRDOG coupon code??
Unfortunately I don't nobody will have one airdog lift pumps must be sold at a certain price regardless who selling them.
Thanks for sharing your experience I know what I’m getting
No worries man!
Not to mention the Fass pumps are loud as fuck!
Lmao I've heard that before!
Not the whisper series..super quiet
What running boards do you have ?
It looks like he has the amp steps.
Cam , you are correct with cus. Service. I have a fass. My filter was pitting and started to leak at 500 miles in. I called fass, the man says” well what do you want me to do about that? You need to buy a new filter. Call XDP. We’re you bought it from. Did that and xdp. Told me to take it up with fass. Long story short. I bought a cat filter. Fass wanted pictures of proof, I was on the road from NC to NY and just couldn’t believe what I was told. ! And send it back to them. 🤬 After the switch , all been good. Send a used filter back! Lmao!
Thats horrible but atleast u were able to get it fixed.
I’d have straight up sent it back to them full of fuel.
I’d have straight up sent it back to them full of fuel.
W.e that's what they get if they wanna be dicks about fuck that noise
Was there a significant difference or jump in MPG from Air dog vs OEM?
Naw It was the same mpg but just better throttle response
Great video and review bro
Thank you man!
Another great video 👍🏾
Im gonna get my airdog imstalled next month, with the sump.
Then next are the injectors.
Great job thanks 😊 lmm Duramax is getting one
thank you and hell yeah!!
need that! good sh*t as always bro
Appreciate it brother! You will like it bro
How much power will it give me?
It can if top with good supporting mods compared to a stock pump
From what I understand it does not add hp. But it saves your cp3 which is super pricey and saves on injectors which are super pricey.
Correct, gives consistent fuel pressure
I have heard good things about airdog and I am wanting to up grade mine at some point.. Has anyone ran one on 7.3 ?
But what's the best oil ? Lol
When you put that on did you bypass oem filter?
Initially no but I eventually deleted the oem fuel filter
That oem is a pain to change
Cat filter mod coming?
I ran an Airdog 2 4G 165 for years and never had any issue with it
Hell yeah they are super reliable
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL i did run the FASS tank sump as it was the best out when i purchased it, i think a lot of things these days come down to some stuff gets made good and bad from all companies and it comes down to the luck of the draw on what you get, how they stand by it is another thing altogether.
Great video man, greetings from Curaçao !!!!!!!!!!
Thank u man!
Thank u man!
Fan of the channel man love the content. This is kinda miss leading because its not a comparison. Fass has been proven to out preform airdog. Nothing against them and again I know the title is named why airdog instead of fass. You're Sharing your experience with airdog. But hands down Fass is actually really good. Not to mention Used in higher hp applications
If you watch the test between FASS and Air Dog it's quite scary at how much better Fass performs.
I believe it’s personal preference. They both do the same job and the AD is over $100 more. I too have seen independent testing that favors the FASS so that’s what I went with but, we’ll see….
I love my airdog as well I got the airdog 150
Nice they make awesome units man!
Excellent content. Get a camera stabilizer, way too much wiggle.
Lol thanks
Love mine got same truck
Hell yeah!
That’s a bad ass truck
I have a new fass and I can drain mine just buy different filter 🤷🏻♂️
So spend more money lol
Fass is designed where you don’t have to drain it, do some research actually good info
I have just not a fan of there new filters and not being able to easily adjust the fuel pressure like on a airdog
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL They are very easy to adjust the pressure on Fass.
@Everythang Diesel So ho many times have you adjusted the pressure since installing, and what required it? I'm betting none. Order for the correct model and it's ready to go

Thanks for the support! 🙌🏽
Air dog all the way. I’ve ran both brands, installed both brands and dealt with warranty on both brands and air dog won in every category with me.
Factsss
How was the installation with the airdog? The fass you have to drop the tank with airdog you do not? I'm in a cross roads right now trying to pick the best one
@@wallheadkdir my favorite is the air dog
4g. And I’ve never dropped a fuel tank to install one. Usually I’ll just install a sump
Nice video ! I have a airdog and I’m very happy with it 👍🏻
Hell yeah man! I'm in the same boat
Get both. You gonna trouble turbo the Cummins anyways lol

👍
I see 20-50 trucks a year between Raleigh and Wilmington that have destroyed fuel systems from fuel contamination, that would have been prevented had they have had a Airdog .
The filtering with a Airdog is far superior to anything fass could ever come up with , and it being the originator of diesel lift pumps why spend money on a knock off ....
Well played haha
So why do so many people say the fass systems are better at filtering?
Fass omg what can I say I had one lol , I just throw it in the garbage 🖕👎 getting a air dog lol
