I don't know how you are so calm in this video. All the years I've been watching your videos I've never seen you so disappointed in a company. This shows that you are keeping it real. Most people that receive free stuff from companies won't dare post a negative review regardless of how bad the product was. After seeing your videos running Ryans I got hyped up and bought the same setup. Now I'm worried. I personally have seen that Ryan has been all over the place regarding their specs for this turbo. On the specs it says that this turbo is great for towing and everyday driving. And when you personally talk to them they say that this turbo is a little too big for everyday towing and that it requires tuning. I want to take this turbo out like a bad tooth but currently don't have the funds. I want to put my stock turbo back in but my actuator is bad.
Long as your not dogging on it or overspeeding it, it seems like it will be fine. based off the overall comments it seems there turbos are hit and miss. Some folks are running strong others had same issue or similar like mine.
Tough break my dude. Seems like Ryan's diesel service would be eager to get that turbo back so they can do a root cause analysis and fix whatever production issue is going on.
Makes for good content though and looking forward to seeing what direction you end up going with your new turbo.

Cam, that sucks! Glad nobody was hurt on the highway. Just a heads up for you. I did the heater delete a year ago. 2 weeks ago #5 injector line started to spray out. banks line #1 did it 2 months ago. so i have ordered new lines from thoroughbred diesel. i was told the crush washers after loosening them a time or two they leak. just a little insurance while your in there. glad your installing the intercooler.! Hang in there!

You most definitely kept a level head about everything & was real with everyone on how it happened & the products involved. If it was my turbo company Id send you a new turbo & label to ship bad back so I could run test & see what caused the failure.

Had the same thing happen with a case tractor engine (cummins 6.7) the problem was a blown cracked piston. Engine was running fine. After the second turbo we took the head off. Rebuild done, new turbo and now 6000 ours without any problems.

Stainless diesel turbos are legit, and the 7.3 conversion is also legit. while towing my 6500lb traveler trailer here in Colorado my 04 5.9 barley see's 197.
Love my fleece cheetah in my 07 5.9 paired with 30 over ss injectors and proper tune and she's a ripper!

I think EvilFab and SloshFab is highly recommend for the 2nd gen swap and compound turbo. Especially Black Market Performance has those 2nd gen swap because, they're cheap.

I was trying to pass a slow truck when the turbo blew up. I was still under warranty ,but they tried to blame it on me so i decided to go with a 2nd gen swap kit from EvilFab

I know about KC turbos they specialize mainly in the 6.0 powerstrokes and other models they are really good. Pretty sure they deal with cummins applications

Get some MicroBlaze out of Houston Area. Mix it with water and spray on oiled area. It eats the oil and makes it safe to spray off. EPA friendly

Exact same thing happend to me last year. It was a brand new fixed vane cheetah turbo from fleece. Lasted a little over one year before it exploded. Customer service could care less. And I paid retail for it😒

Damn bro. I'm sorry for the shit luck. RYANS SUCK COCK. SAME ISSUE WITH THEM. They wanted it Sent back. I did, they came back and said it overspeed the turbin wheel and that's what caused it but I was doing like 45mph and wasn't even on it hard at all. Seems like that's what they say to most to get out of the warranty. They even said they would reimburse me for the shipping once they got it but they didn't once they deemed it as an overspeed. If I had the money, Dawg, I would buy the pipe off ya but I'm a disabled marine (happy Birthday to myself and anyone else out there). Don't make enough yet but I totally woukd man cause I need one. Thank you for your service too bro.

Personally I’m gonna go with a 2nd gen swap better for power, engine temp, oil temp, manifold temp, even spool up lengthens the life of head gaskets and the engine itself, gonna run the steedspeed 2nd gen manifold not sure on the turbo still deciding.

Yep all that Marring with inside the turbo that’s crazy good shit ain’t cheap and I’m sure that’s not a cheap Turbo but cheap hardware are not good either to build it. Did you have to calibrate it or did they calibrate it before they sent it out to you or does calibrating revolve around a revision on the tuning?
The vgt actuator comes preprogrammed already from them. I installed a new tuned after installing the turbo

Question? Do you have your factory grid heater hooked up. If so have you seen any issues with the killer bolt? If not how do you keep the check engine light from coming on
I do but I will be deleting it soon. I have not seen or know anyone personally who has suffered from the killer nut breaking off. In terms of keeping the check engine light off it will stay off on its own, but u can get your tuner to turn it off.
I'm between MDCDiesel and Evilfab I want the looks of Evilfab but is it necessary because I'm not always popping my hood? I have a 5% discount code for the military for Evilfab just lmk. Also with the MDC diesel kit I was thinking about adding the wcfab intake on the DIY section if I wanted the look.
If you wanna save some money I'd do the MDC Diesel kit and use the my channel code "everythangdiesel" to save more on top. You can always swap out the intake horn down the road. Unless u wanna go for the bling. Then evil fab would be better. Evil Fab quoted me 3450 with military discount. I wasn't a fan that I had to use there manifold and turbo. When I asked who makes there turbos they said a private label company. After what happened to me last week I wasn't gonna put up with that again. Haha but the MDC DIESEL turbos are proven for me. I've ran several of them.

Also when I was shipping my ATS turbo back to Colorado from Buffalo, NY it was gonna cost $114 cause it weighed 50lbs. Don’t know I did? I just said it weighed 20lbs and paid $44 to ship with UPS and they didn’t say anything as long as it had a label they didn’t care lol. I did everything online of course not at the UPS store.

Don't be afraid to do the grid heater delete its a straight forward job. When u break the injector lines loose there's no pressure in them. Fuel Rail isn't pressurized when the pump isn't running

Sorry about the frustration of having to deal with other people's problems.
You're lucky you didn't experience diesel run away since it was able to consume its own oil and use that for combustion. I think you can use acetone. That's aluminum safe to rinse out the boost tubes and the inside of the inner cooler because the oil will kill thermal efficiency😅
I'm swapping the intercooler I showed the new one in the video. I was able to use some engine degreaser and cleaned it up like a charm! I added roadside assistance to my truck with my insurance company. Thought I had it before but didn't haha

My ATS Aurora 4000 blew the seals twice on my truck and it was dumping white smoke everywhere and I just bought a turbo from Ryan's diesel service now i'm afraid it's gonna do that now but I don't push my truck past 20 psi.
I bought a drop in turbo from Ryan’s it’s been in the truck almost two years and have had no issues. And I wouldn’t be afraid to replace it again with a Ryan’s turbo. This was just a fluke
@@gregy3660 listening to what Cam said about pushing to 45 psi and it being an electronically controlled turbo the actuator probably didn't open up the veins fast enough and the turbine shift exited the chat lol
I wouldnt be afraid to put It on. Or u can send it back and look for a turbo time usa turbo or a tater built. You'll probably be fine.

I have had two RDS turbos fail. Didn't even bother sending them the second one back. Not a chance I'd run another one of their units.

Was it a VGT turbo? I hear so many other UA-camrs praise Ryan for his work. I don’t get why others are having bad luck with them. I have a ATS Aurora 4000 turbo blew the oil seals twice already in the past 3 months I had it. ATS keeps blaming my truck for excessive crankcase pressure but I had two mechanics look at my truck and say everything checks out ok no bad head gasket or excessive ccv pressure.
@@marrag1 Fixed vane. They failed in different ways too. The shaft snapped on one and a blade came off the turbine on the other.
@@TXRed1836my ATS failed with just seals blowing up and dumping oil into my down pipe. Damn and I just bought an RDS turbo but I made sure to change my air filter and checked for excessive crank case pressure.
Fixed vanes can definitely break too, it's just not as easily. When u have more parts involved the risk is always higher.
I had good luck with Tater built turbos in the past
Tater built and turbo time usa are the only companies I have not heard anything bad about with there vgt turbos

@EVERYTHANGDIESEL when I had my 14 it would run high 190s up to 215 220. With my 18 it bearly see 195. Winder if thr tstat is different. Diffently look into getting a lower one and maybe the fleece freeze plug thingy

Yeah I said the same thing and also he has a stock actuator not a modified one. It might have not opened the veins fast enough and sent all the exhaust gas pressure and his EGTs must be through the roof also.

That’s pretty shitty customer service. Regardless if you didn’t pay for the turbo or not. If I bought a turbo and it blew up and they told me I had to provide shipping back to them to get a new turbo I would be pissed. That’s kinda bullshit and definitely opened my eyes up about that company. I had been under the impression they were a top notch company with top notch products and service. Needless to say I’m not quite sure now and don’t plan on buying a turbo from them anytime soon.
Apparently it normal to make customers pay to send products back to them when it's defective. That's like industry standard, idk tho. Is what it is though.
ATS is making me do that twice with my turbo that blew the oil seals twice already. I wasn't going to pay $70 again to ship their piece of shit turbo back so I said the turbo weighed like 10lbs and paid $40 for a label and sent that POS back to ATS and I'll be telling them to give me back my money also cause I don't want that turbo back on my truck again.

As much as I enjoy watching “EVERYBODYS” videos on 6.7’s I am 100% convinced unless you pull motor & complete everything , grid Heater delete, turbo & injectors to match, full delete , intercooler ETC. Then prepare to spend $$ & better be back up truck is all I’m saying because no way people get 500k miles on their 6.7 Cummins factory emissions, no tune, notta, but within 100k miles these trucks are $ pits and unreliable as hell! NO WAY NO HOW

Sorry to hear about the truck . I am not sure I would of handled it this way... I mean really they sponsored you for positive publicity - and you came right out and bashed them over a label, versus a free turbo .. Sure you are out on a bit of money, but Ryans is out 1 turbo $1000+, plus now bad publicity, and you gave them 4 days to handle the situation, what if they are back logged with work ? I don't know .. If any vendors start watching all this , they are not going to be so eager to work with you, they don't want to be put on blast for you getting free stuff complaining about a label and calling their stuff p.o.s and scrap . This is one of those moments you should of gave the shop props for hooking you up, and willing to diagnose the problem, what if you were over spooling ? Wouldn't want them to know the truth and send it back, instead just bash them and their business practice . Too much drive pressure caused by to much fuel. Spins the shaft too fast, which wipes the oil film off the shaft and journal bearings. Shaft gets hot and breaks, that is if the turbine or comp wheel don't scatter first. I would seriously think about this video and correct this, before blowing them up with calling their stuff shit .
I didnt bash them or anything. I literally was 100% transparent, there is a huge difference between those two. I could've easily came on here and said don't buy from them or they are horrible but I didn't cause they have a business and mouths to feed as well. All I did was explained what happened and my experience. I'm guessing your one of those people that says someone is messed up when they are being honest about something. You rather hear something that pleases your ears versus what you want to hear. I give my experience and tell my story so others know what happened. Thousands of people watch my channel for my recommendations and opinion. I'm not gonna have people wasting there hard earned money if this is the outcome. Based off the comment section I am not the only one who went through with this and it's not only Ryan turbo other companies seem to have the same issue. This brings awareness so individuals are informed and not ignorant to the matter unlike some. There's a bigger picture to this video, and "bashing" a company was the last thing on my mind when making this video. Never once did I say don't buy from them in this video or stay away from them.

You didn't say don't buy from them, but you did say even if they sent you another one you wouldnt want it or use it , but saying its junk, and saying they are not going to handle the situation, is no different, I mean if You were watching a vid someone put out, talking about " they wont handle the break down or failure and respond back to me " would you still go buy from them ?
As I said, you asked for feed back , and I am not being a dick about it , but you automatically assumed it was the turbos fault, and you called their stuff junk, and saying they wont respond, or send you a label, for something you got for free.. really take a look at it from a viewers perspective.
Your tune might have been over fueling the turbo causing over spooling, and if you are making 30-40lbs of boost at half throttle like you stated .. isn't that a little excessive for only half the pedal ? that wouldn't even engage the passing gear in the transmission at half throttle.
As I said , I enjoy your content, but this video kinda bothers me, as a man like you who solves issues and looks for the cause of things and wants the best for his ride , you just put it out there , it was the turbo's fault and the Ryans wont do anything to address it.
Cool, I didn't take it personal I was just giving my personal opinion and thought behind it. How can a passing gear not be used if your already In that gear driving? If you have to give more than 60% throttle to pass someone on the highway unloaded then probably need a better tune.
