I just had this done under recall on my 2019 ram 3500. Factory cp4 did 218k miles. Figured I better get it done before it caused big problems

Mistakes happen for sure, i remember an engine swap on some Asian car. There was about 5 piugs that you could plug in wrong. 3 of the plugs were rite next to eachother.👍🏻🇺🇲
4:19 I really like the Folgers coffee 'can' holder for your grease cups\containers, good idea with the ability to put lids on without holes for brushes coming through the tops potentially getting dirt in it. 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️
Bosch CP4 pumps are garbage and there should be a class action lawsuit across all the platforms it's used in against Bosch. It could've been very easily designed to not allow the pistons to turn in their bores allowing it to grenade itself destroying the whole fuel system. Don't bother telling me how good the Bosch CP4 pump is in Europe either. 🛢️🛠️🔧🔩👍🏻👌🏻🤦🏻♂️

I'll never understand why a vehicle manufacturing company installs something on an engine when something much better exists like this brand-new system IS so much better. Clearly, this particular vehicle's manufacturing company is "dropping the ball" on this! 🙄

No it won’t fit. You need to get the S&S DCR conversion.

They left out a very important part of this conversion TUNING I assume they did that because they are afraid of the EPA but BUYER BEWARE if ANYONE tells you that their conversion requires no tune on an LML THEY ARE LYING you WILL have driveability issues if you are Emmissions intact and need duramax tuning for a CP3 talk to calibrated power or Kory at PPEI if you are deleted you will have to do your own research since it is federally illegal which puts you in a very bad position if you have a deleted truck and you are already tuned because the tune will have to be altered and if you had it tuned through any tuner that uses EFI live their tune will be locked you cannot open that tune file and alter it and the LML ecm is write only which means even if your current tune is not locked you will have to have someone start from square one because the file cannot be read unlike older trucks like the LMM LBZ LLY LB7 if you've already deleted your truck good luck getting a tune I used to think it was a good idea now it's not you WILL end up having problems with the EPA at some point it is imminent now they are going to start enforcing it nation wide

I always save the little plastic caps and plugs that come on different parts to use to seal things off when I’m taking things apart. It’s so much easier to throw a plug in a hole than try to fish out a chunk of shmoo that fell into a hole that should have been covered 👍

I have the Infamous Ford F-150. It’s a 2022 LARIAT 3.5 EcoBoost with the Problematic 10R80 Transmission. It’s been Replaced Already at 4,700 Miles. We drove it from San Jose Ca to Disneyland Ca in June, like 450 Miles one way, It Puked Tranny Fluid All over the underside and all over my tailgate and rear Camera System ( That’s how I noticed something was wrong )???? 1/2 way there. We finished the Trip, Drove it home, took it “BACK” in to the Dealership and they said the plastic transmission oil pan was “Cracked”??? They replaced it, said upon arrival the Tranny Fluid was Low😅😅😅, Replaced it and did some Transmission Programming and Re Learning and sent me Home. It Still Shifts “Goofy” and FORD Doesn’t Even Care??? I’am just Beside myself, that I paid $88K for this TRUCK, and FORD CANT, or Don’t know how to Fix this 10R80 ISSUE. ID PAY someone to FIX IT, but it’s under Warranty and FORD Should By Now have this under Control and they DONT??? Sad…. Very Sad!! And GM Has the Same Issues so I see on the Internet and U Tube???? I’d like to see DAVES TEAR INTO ONE OF THESE, or Have Someone knowledgeable Do a Reman on a 10R80 (And FIX IT)!!!
So you hit something broke the pan ...then mad that a low fluid trans that you drove till it stopped has issues? 10r80 is a masterpiece is so good gm dumped their garbage 8 speed and bought the rights to use it from Ford. Yep every gm 10 speed Including the 10r1000 alison is just a rebdged 10r80 or 10r140
@@mddunlap03 NO!!! MDDUNLAP03!!!! Did NOT Hit anything! The Pan was Cracked during the Shipment, and was NOT Caught by the Tech Installing It (IF IT WAS CRACKED????).. Yes, the 10R80 Is supposed to be a GREAT TRANNY along with the GM Unit's (That have all the Same Issues) as the 10R80. Problem is FORD / GM Don't want to step up to the Plate and FIX THE ISSUES! These Tranny's have BAD PARTS and FORD / GM know it, and Refuse to FIX THEM. (Hence all the Class Action Law Suits with them)! There are Tranny builders that have FIXED ALL the Issues with these Tranny's and FORD / GM won't even Talk to them. I think if FORD & GM Would at the very LEAST (Listen) to these Builders, Or HEY Buy one of their Tranny's and Tear it down and See what they did, These Issues wouldn't even be Talked about and the Tranny's would Be Near Bullet Prooffffff! Bad place to mount that steering wheel knob Sammy Davis Jr. had one there on his vehicle and got into a crash and that’s how he lost his eye!

Is it just fuel quality issues or are they just running too much pressure out of these pumps or what is grenading all the injection pumps these days? I know a BUNCH of people who have had to pay huge bills after the pump went and took everything out.
There's a class action lawsuit against GM for even using the cp4. Don't know if it'll ever go anywhere. But supposedly, GM knew that diesel fuel, especially U.S. diesel doesn't have enough lubricity to keep the cam and follower system in the pump from starting to shred itself, and they didn't do anything to fix that or keep it from doing deeper internal damage.
I just went through that last year. ITS A BITS on the DMax. Then after the FASS I developed a leak on I’m hoping the return line bc that’s the only problem I seen but if you’re following a fuel leak, when you take your EGR cooler off. CATCH THE COOLANT! I drenched the valley and couldn’t follow the leak.

I am still amazed how much you need to do what the manufacturer had to do in the first place. Nevertheless, in europe, a full size pickup costing 45000$ will cost 150000€ after taxes over here. Just because of the horrible fuel economy and the weight/size compared to usefull space.

I deleted my LML got rid of all the bill crap egr and other junk. Put in fass 165 lift pump too. Only thing I’ve yet to do is the CP3 conversion.

Coming from central IL, if my ram ever needs an engine I will either buy a monster engine or ship the entire truck to you guys. You won’t find a better run, more trustworthy shop.

There is no such thing as expensive preventive care. Its like riding motorcycles, you buy the best tires and brakes because they are cheap life insurance.
It's an investment to prevent an even costlier repair later.
15k repair for a fuel pump failure or 5-6k now for something that will probably never fail. Not really a difficult decision.

There should be a larger class action against the big 3 for using the CP4 knowing it is a deliberate failure using north American diesel.

Man, having two similar connectors, without fool proofing next to each other on the harness is some Volkswagen crap. What was GM thinking?
If i had a choice it would be a cummins... simpler motor to work on... so simple that them recalling all the cp4 pumps didn't require any real change other then the pump... lol ive swapped in probably 100 of them now... such a easy recall... they cut the warranty times in half so now you can barely break even on them tho lol
Hey Dave! Just a thought about the Veteran's and thanking them for their service. Also, and especially a Vietnam Veteran, welcome them home as well. You were growing up at the time, pre teen, and saying, "Thank you for your service to our country, and welcome home, Sir/Ma'am!" That is the best thing they would love to hear. I almost had a Vietnam Veteran in tears because he hadn't heard that phrase in so many years, and coming from me who was only 30 yrs old as well. Back in the late 60s and 70s they weren't appreciated or welcomed back, and when they got back on bus or plane they were greeted with anti-war protestors. I'm also not saying any of this to be offensive to your staff or family or you Dave, I love your videos and I'm so happy to have found your channel. Can speed of air pistons eliminate the need for the egr, dpfm and urea systems?

That new fuel system with dual filters is cherry man ! Do the filters have different micron levels ? Primary and secondary filters ?
CP4s only grenade when people run the on low fuel and they get cavitation bubbling and overheated diesel especially on trucks and cars that don’t have a reverse fuel cooler.
People need to address the root cause and not run their cars under let’s say 1/8th tank

It’s wild that with a lot of tech for cars nowadays, the upgrade is to revert to an older system, or rip certain systems out entirely…
More shop owners , mechanics, shop foremen, and customers should watch these videos. This is how a shop should be run. This is how customers should be spoken to. Mechanics should take some pride in there work. I'm a shop foreman and I try and get my mechanics to realize the customer is putting there lives in our hands. No matter if it's an oil change to brake job, or something bigger. Awesome video. I've done 2 cp3 conversions on LMLs and used the same company for kit. Recommend highly.

Date to ask have you experience someone that put the failure kit that prevent the disaster that cp4 make ? Its whort to put it?. Also have you experience some one that destory the cp4 pump whit this?

im a Diesel tech of 35 years some of these add on Parts are not Necessary alot of it Waste of Money Vehicles get Hundreds of thousands of miles without this Stuff
