- It's project time! Before we know it, it will be time for our piglets to be born. We need a place for the sows to farrow, so we build new farrowing pens for our Idaho Pasture Pigs!

***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
This shows why Kevin and Sarah, you are a successful and growing farm. Planning and building for your pigs now while the weather is still favorable is so smart. I have watched your channel for 2 years now and love watching all you do and I learn so much from you both. God bless you both!
Kevin And Sara.....i just admire both of you.....the way you do and plan things.....so well-organized, your Homestead is clean too.....i am not even a homesteader, but i love watching your videos everyday, as well as two other more famous Homesteaders that I like.......May God grant you more abundant blessings in life.......
Watching the sun set over the autumn/winter Ozarks mountains.....priceless. God is, indeed, great!
You two make an amazing team! I love watching you work together on projecets.
I never saw a gas powered post driver before. Wow what a handy, incredible tool.
The pig pen looks great! You did a great job taking all the older fencing off and redoing the pig stalls. That will be a good place for the pigs and their piglets to roam. I love your homestead!
Thanks for sharing everything with us. Take care and God bless! 💜
Hi Sarah and Kevin...We want to thank you for your wonderful channel. We feel like it’s a blessing to be able to watch your videos. We look forward each week to watching them and learning from you. We especially want to thank you for your closing statement of “God Bless You”. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Mary Ellen and Doug
I love how you both upcycle & repurpose items. It is a great lesson to all on how to save money while keeping quality materials out of the landfill. "When you got a good gate, you gotta keep it!" ☺🐖🌻
Yes! .. have they ever done a video on the ''stuff'' they brought from AZ?
You two work so hard...it all looks great 👍 Greetings from Western Australia 🇦🇺👋
Love the way you work together no whining from Sara, she is right by Kevin's, side. I really like this channel. Sarah, you gave me a little chuckle when you put all your might into trying to get the post out.
I don’t know how many miles of fencing I have moved. A t post jack id awesome but a tractor is even better. Lived on a ranch for many years. I am so great full for anyone growing and raising food for the rest of the world. I thank each and every rancher and farmers for all the hard work you do. Thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏.
I noticed the sound quality from the new mics and sounds good really like it 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
To work really well together I can tell there’s a lot of love between you two!😊❤️
My husband and I worked great together on our home projects and rental homes. You two Bring back great years past memories of my husband and childern ❤️🙏 God bless you and your family! Love your videos thank you for sharing I hope they never end 😊
It's rather funny that watching you work on your dream relaxes me....I picture myself in your position, as I love being in my yard.
You two work so well together ❤ my hubby and myself do okay but many times I'm sure its like watching Abbot and Costello!
We joke that I'm the brains and he's thr brawn as I get a lot of weird ideas about building my gardens and fencing for the chickens, we'd lose them all by the end of the week if we free ranged them. But so far it works.
Lovely pig pen !
Love that you have mics attached to ur hats. Wish other homesteaders used them. Also love how wholesome/hardworking you two are. True mentors. tyfs.
I have noticed them in many of their recent videos. They must be a new addition to the equipment. I was hoping to see a list of the equipment they use but sadly they don't share that information. I would love to know more about the mics especially.
@@hotstangchic69 Ask in an email and maybe that will be a question they answer on their next Q & A video.
@@gelwood99 Good idea. Thanks for that.
I was wondering what those things were.
@@hotstangchic69 try following their Amazon store link in the description. They usually list all the things they use in there.
My wife and I were married 52 years and we always worked together. I enjoy you two working together.
You were so cute trying to pull the post out of the ground.
@ 4:41 LOL!
Yes I got a little giggle! Too funny!
Yes. Looked the way I do when I try to pull something out! 😂😂
@4:41

Panels look so much cleaner than rolled fencing. It's looking great.
Howdy from west Texas! You two work well together and see much accomplished. Will be curious to see the pigs when they arrive.
Excited to see the first little piglets in there. Great job. God bless.❤️🐷
You both make an amazing team. It seems effortless when you work together. 💜
What a great team. Looks so good.

You two work so well together. You just work like one person always know what the other is doing before it gets started. God bless.

Paul Ortiz
Oh my! Every time you guys use that post puller, i so wish they had that back in the day we had our farm! What a blessing! Totally excellent job! Take care!
I know you probably get tons of advice on every video, but I do encourage you to consider building a creep area for the piglets that you can hang a heat lamp in. This will save them from getting crushed by the sow.
Enjoy watching the two of you working together
a few things I think you need to consider with the renovation of the pig farrowing area 1. a board around the bottom of the farrowing hut like you build in the dog whelping box to help puppies and in this case piglets from getting crushed by their mother if they are against the wall 2. a creep feed area so just the piglets can get in and not the mothers so they can be feed without their mothers eating it all or pushing the piglets out of the way and they eat it all themselves 3. internal pen system so the mumma's can have their own space if they farrow weeks apart from the other sows but the ability to open the whole thing up to make a big pen if mothers farrow together as they will feed one another piglets but also a place for week 1 to 2 when the babies are split from their mothers
I was going to say all these things. Only thing I would add is since you're going to put up gutters, why not run it into your watering troughs? May save some trouble later on.
Really enjoy the videos. Started canning by myself this year and you were very helpful in the process. Thanks.
This is a must!
Y'all are living my dream life.
Lol ❤️
Awesome watching you work together as a team!
That's the way it works on a farm. You reuse anything you can. God bless
Your hog pen looks great!🙂 Praise the Lord for the good weather.🙂
Thank you for sharing how you repurposed your goat barn. I enjoy your projects and seeing your homestead grow.
The new farrowing area looks wonderful. The t post driver really does save time. Great purchase, especially for your health.
Great progress for one day. The hogs are going to like it!! God bless.

Great usage of the plumber's tape instead of staples. I enjoy learning so much from you two...helps to see new ideas foreign to me put into use.

Good morning Kevin and Sarah, EXCELLENT job on the pig pins. Really looks great and should get the job done!! Thanks for sharing with us and bringing us along. 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sarah, you really tried to let that post know who’s boss, but it got the best of you! Your farrowing area looks really nice. It’s good how you plan out doing things while the weather is cooperative! We had never seen one of those power post drivers. That’s pretty awesome! You both work so well together. Love watching you! Thank you.
What a lovely place for the pigs to live!
I love watching you two working together ,you’re so easy to watch so soothing and pleasant ! Thank you for the great videos
I am so glad you got what you wanted for the momma pigs. I love to watch you both work so well together. I have shared your channel with a few of others who are just starting out. They had requested if anyone new how to do specific things and wanted to learn different things. Thank you for sharing your adventure and I cannot wait to see the piglets.
I have great Pyrenese and nothing bothers even my baby chicks and piglets that run around in the pasture. I couldn’t manage without them
When you got a good gate, you keep it!!! Way to go Kevin. ;)
I hope those people that dream of a homestead watched this to see how much work it is to live on a homestead !
The teamwork between you two is impressive! I love your new area for the sows and piglets! I know they will have plenty of room to grow. I like that you gave the sows plenty of room to farrow in.
Good morning. Always fun to see you two working together
Thanks again for such a lovely look into your lives and work. I miss some aspects of animal faring, and I enjoy you folks "taking us along" with you. Great video.
Again i say you two are great teammates. Awesome job. I see you both utilized your time wisely. How is the freeze drying going? There is a UA-camr Retired at 40 who has a bunch of videos on freeze drying. I enjoy your videos. Just seeing the two of you working together side by side brings joy to my heart. May God continue to bless you and your family and all those that you hold dear in your heart. Thank you for sharing
Hi, beautiful family! You're a real inspiration for lots of people. All the best from London! 👍🍀💗
I've had the same problem pulling posts with the puller. I feel like a 66 year old kid bouncing on the handle. Last time my husband just laughed at me and brought the tractor and chain.
I was just trying to start a project while he was mowing.
Hello to two very hard workers! You both are quite a team! You both have great support and ability to help for each other. Your accomplishments are amazing. It’s a pleasure to see all that you can do together!
Wow! Lots of hard work in a short period of time! Quite an accomplishment! We know weather could be coming in any day, so better get it done while the sun shines!!
Y'all work together so well.
You both make a great team. I am looking forward to your video when the piglets are born. I hope you get a huge litter!
Awesomely done you two! Gonna be some happy pig mommas!
I added little pig rails around the farrowing pen so sows wouldn’t crush little pigs as they laid down to nurse. Finally built A frame single farrowing building but would let sows out twice a day for the first week. Plans came from Ag extension office in our state. They are portable and moved to different areas for next farrowing. After the first week sows and little pigs could enter and leave at will. Enjoy your videos.
You folks work so well together, I find these videos both relaxing and informative. P.S. cute dimples.
You guys are amazing Id love to come visit and help and learn from an amazing couple like yourselves
I've never seen that post puller upper thingy before.
Nice tool.
Love watching your Homestead shows and the canning
Love your lifestyle and that you enjoy working. Work can be fun!!
I love watching! I am from Missouri and used to spend summers at my Aunt & Uncle's farms in Chillecothe & Bogard. Brings back some very fond memories. Totally different world. I once hung onto the fence and watched their sow birth 23 piglets. It was so amazing as a city girl to witness. Thank you for your content!
I love baby pigs! When I was in FFA; I won an award-for production and upkeep and health of the piglets. As every piglet was born, their umbilical cord was tied and dipped in iodine, and I clipped the very end of their needle teeth, this made nursing easier for the sow; and prevented the tusks from being a problem.
The piglets look like they jettison around on stilts! They are so cute!!!
Looks like y’all are getting ready, and getting a lot done. Are you going to build A frame farrowing houses?
So looking forward to seeing the piglets born and grow!
How are your parents liking being on the Homestead? Have the other 2 butcher hogs made it to freezer camp yet?
Exciting times!!!
I got my husband to cut me some short pieces of that pipe strap so I could help out fixing fences. Ty for mentioning it awhile back while working on your chicken coops.
Hey guys keep up the good work
Great video, Kevin and Sarah. Always enjoy.
I just love how you , two work so good together! It is beautiful!!!
Sarah you are so cute, love both of your workmanship
nice job guys always nice to see a couple working together in harmony, your pigs will be grateful...
Wish that post driver was available years ago. My Dad had a old piece of long pipe to put post in the ground. Love watching your all videos.
Thanks to you, we've started using plumbers tape for those kind of things now too. Hammering those stupid staples is very frustrating. This has saved us lots of aggravation lately. Thank you so much for the tip!
i drive my post with the tractor bucket.
Hi from Chandler, AZ 👋🏻 found your channel about a month ago. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen so far. We’ve been talking about getting out of the rat race here and looking at farm property SW Missouri (hubby grew up there). Thanks for sharing your homesteading wisdom. It’s invaluable!
You both are amazing!!!!!
'When sharing how with viewing you actually do it and descriptions - is very informative. So glad to see that info and actual use of post hole driver machine ,I have to set a bunch., Hope you never change your sharing with us.yout good outcomes and any bad so that we can benefit from it.
I now use a small chain that Wanda wraps around the T post 3 times at the ground and use the tractor bucket to pull the T post. Works really fast very little physical effort needed. I kept waiting for a large rat to jump out when Sarah was raking the hay. Funny thing is the homestead will always change when it's a working one. That post driver is a life saver. I have to use the tractor bucket now that I've messed up my neck. Pray the pigs deliver safe and well.
Yes chain and tractor bucket are the only way to go especially as I get older and the animal and garden needs change!
Hahaha I was just going to mention how Deep South Homestead does it but he beat me to it! 😆
My hubby and I use a large chain and a huge floor jack that he picked up somewhere.
Deep South Homestead is my other favorite YT homesteading channel. Love them!
So funny watching Sarah at 4:50 and then Kevin comes over and gets that t-post to come right out of the ground:P I would be You, Sarah..lol
Looking good guys!!! Nice area for the pig family.
Awesome. Can't wait to see the new babies.
Thank you Sarah, love the swinging feet, made me laugh today, it was a tough day but you all are always so great. Happy Turkey day and lots of blessings! Nice to see you have better weather than we too, just freezing our butts off in the NY Catskill Mountains. brrrrrrrrr
That gate represents continuity and history. You've got to love a good gate:-)
I love the sign on the recycled gate.
Love that post driver I need one of those not that I could use it but my son could, that goes faster, God Bless you and your family .
Good video! As always! Piggies will be so happy!
Usually, it's an 'insult' to say but...Now THIS...is a pigsty!!! WELL DONE! Just luv watching you two do little upgrade projects around the farm(s). One suggestion though...that gate that you brought back from Arizona needs a sign change or you will confuse many! Perhaps: 'WARNING: WATCH PIGS!' That otta do it! (LOL) Thank-you most kindly for sharing your time/talents with us. Health and God's continued blessings upon you n' yours! :)
Awesome work done and stay safe, God bless
