My mother was #8 of 9 children in rural southern Mississippi. She was the only one to graduate from high school. She worked from high school until one of the attorneys at the law firm she worked at asked if she would consider going to law school. She went to night law school after working all day. She passed each class and finally the bar exam the first time in 1964. My mother worked in the private sector and eventually took a position with the Veterans Administration in adjudication. She worked tirelessly for 34.5 years HELPING veterans get the benefits they earned serving our country!!! She’s earned her eternal reward now, but I am ever so proud of my Mama!

I read J D Vance's book when it was first available. I thought he was a warm and caring man who had risen above a terrible childhood. He also gave insight into how low socioeconomic folks vote. I remember wishing politicians would read the book so they could figure out how to court votes from this block of voters. I bet Trump has read the book.

yes. It is a constant journey that you revisit from time to time. I like to say I have to walk myself back through it...all the way to the same conclusion....I didn't cause it, I can't fix it, I won't be able to go back and change it, I can just move forward.....And that's ok! I think they're all good to be honest...
Even Kamala ❤I like her... I didn't like when she abused the AG barr lol 😂 because the guy wasn't at fault...
But... I think it's cause she innately doesn't like Trump.
Trump is a child only God can love ❤️ lol 😂 hahaha 😆 hahaha he is "special " not everyone likes him 😄 lol
What trump has is he is relatable he comes from tons of money but he fits like people commoners which is crazy...
It's like he wasn't raised with money almost... I think it was Candace who said this too he is relatable 😂
He is special... when I seen his interviews I knew I liked him... everyone has wrongs but trump you overlook them cause he has so much capacity everywhere else that is just like wow.
Biden is poor parents kid... you see the difference between poor people and rich people... Trump can still go on another 20 years it's the way the rich are groomed and taken care of they think different while the poor struggle with their kids to make it.
Look at Hunter... I guarantee you he is carrying pain inside ❤ his mind is shattered ... but you see trumps kids and they're outstanding producers nothing shattered in them.
It's the difference in mentality and struggle between classes.

Trouble is, he's a lying grifter. The hillbilly who NEVER lived in Appalachia. He grew up in the steel town of Middleport Ohio. His grandparents left Appalachia when they were very young, his mother, a thrice-married drug addict, never lived there, he NEVER lived there. He portrays himself as the hero who pulled himself up by his bootstraps while all the rest of his ne'r-do-well family, friends and associates were lazy drunks, wife beaters and brawlers who loved their squalor, comparing them (in his words) to typical Appalachian residents. He became semi-famous by writing a book based on lies and stereotypes.

      What people don't realize is
We cannot control what is thrown at us or with what relentfulness it comes there's no mercy at times you rely on someone else's hand to ease the burdens and get help sometimes it never comes or arrives very late
However... what I wish I had learned sooner way sooner is this....
      NEVER SURRENDER ❤
Meaning when you feel like you're broken 💔 instead of giving up and saying okay I can't do it
That's when you need to FIGHT HARDER because you're about to LEVEL UPwards and it SPIRALS it compounds ❤
And that spiral directly AFFECTS EVERYONE around you... massive shock waves

Most people think I'm breaking down now.... give up .. catch a break to rest but that's when you GO ALL IN...
I think building systems of habit.... and REMOVING people and things from you can alleviate that
You can't give in ... ❤ every time I gave in to rest to catch a break it was worse...

It makes everything about personal failing, and completely ignored systems that contribute to poverty in rural areas. The kind of capitalism that we have in the US has done a huge number in the rural areas of the country, and led to people leaving in droves. It is his personal story and that's fine, but some people are taking a message from it that doesn't make sense. Also, he could have helped his mother in a better way (from what happened in the movie). She's having a drug issue, and anyone going through that is going to have some struggles getting past it.

Mom always told me I was the man of the family and I had to take care of them. I took this responsibility seriously but even now at 54 I grieve at my failure to protect them. We were removed from our parents care and placed in Foster Care where we continued to be abused. We were then moved to a Christian Group home, Gateway Woods in Leo Indiana. We thrived there but when they left I was lost. Had no one to care for and I didn't know who I was and what my place was. So running for senate and bragging about the endorsement of an anti semite while being funded by billionaire Peter Thiel to then give him tax cuts and then screwing over people in Appalachia is awesome? Have you changed your opinion on Vance?

    • @JustinHenryfan
      @JustinHenryfan 2 роки тому +1

This was planned. The whole thing. The fact that he's now running for senate means that NBC, NY Times and even Ron Howard and Netflix were all (albeit unwittingly) working for his campaign. And he's in it for himself, not for helping others. He wants to make himself and his republican friends richer by pushing this republican trope of picking yourself up by your bootstraps. If he was serious, he'd be fighting to get serious legislative changes to the U.S: to actually help the poor and the middle class but alas he's not. Republican tax cuts do not help the poor. Nor does their war on drugs help solve the opioid crisis.

I watched his story on Netflix, and thought to myself, this is an extraordinary man. He succeeded, overcoming abuse, and dysfunction in his family. I love the way he still shown that regardless of what we endure within our family at the end of the day they’re still our family. JD Vance story is inspirational. One can overcome surmountable odds, and triumph regardless of what they came from with determination.
