- This weekend one of our Idaho Pasture pigs decided she was sick of staying in her pen and decided to explore our yard instead. Luckily we saw her and were able to get her rounded back up. Today we are moving both of our sows to new pens.

I've seen several Idaho Pasteur Pigs and nearly all have been very mellow. They are Very protective of their newborn babies, don't be fooled, but after a few weeks chill out. Sometimes when the females are kept close together and know each other they will even feed the others babies. It's like she doesn't even bother to count how many are there and the babies just see their friends eating and join in if there's a free nipple. Lol

Since you screwed the feed bowl down, I would suggest getting an additional feed bowl and place it in the screwed down one. This would make clean-up easier.
That Is a great idea!
But it would defeat the purpose of screwing the bowl in place!
@@Jomama02 How does one really clean one that is screwed down- Not very well. Let the screwed down hold the other in place, then it is easy to clean.
The pigs would just knock it out of the other one and that would defeat the purpose. No real reason to clean the bowl anyway.
I was also wondering if the pigs could cut their snouts on the screw heads, rutting around inside the pans for food? A liner pan would solve that.
Kevin and Sarah it is nice to see the momma pigs are getting their own pens to have the babies. What a wonderful sight to watch the pig follow you to her temporary home. I cannot wait until the baby piglets come into the world. I love watching them they are so silly. Jason from The Crocker's tested your internet set up. I told him about your internet set up and it might work for him and to try it out. Jason said it worked wonderfully at his off grid home. He gave you all a thumbs up for sharing this product so now he gets internet. You two always take such loving care of your animals. Love watching your adventure through life.

I love they can work so well together ❤ I have been with my husband for 32 years and we do ok but my husband has always been in a boss position at his job and it overflows onto working together. Lol
What a blessing that is they have.
Hubbs and I cant work together at all. We've been together 8 years and if theres a project its safer for us to go do two totally different things. We don't get along well while working at all. He doesn't want to work on projects and I get really heated and too bossy.
Thankfully my husband and I work well together on home projects because he has all the construction knowledge and I have all the patience lol.

I have a Pot Bellie Pig. Her name is Sunshine. She lives in the house. She has a large dog crate with her bedding. Tons of toys an spoiled rotten. She is a great girl. I will build an Soring an Sumner pen come warmer weather. Happy New Year. LV AN PRAYERS TO ALL.

Great addition your homestead. In Illinois we’re covered by snow and ice. We’re going to have to wait weeks before the Christmas decorations defrost to take them down. We say with Jesus it’s Christmas everyday. Blessings.
Great job yay! Don't forget to add some strong fencing on the blue gates there. Those babies, when they're born, will escape even more easily than the momma did. So you might want to lower another wire at 6" from the ground for the babies. They're sneaky.

From what I've seen, IPP & Kune-Kune are both super layed back & friendly. I watched another homesteader use a tire feeder for their pigs. Old tires nailed to a piece of plywood. With the price of wood so high, you might investigate that to see if would work for you.
Love watching your guys videos. Our family has been so inspired. We are currently in CA and planning to move east this year to grab a little more land and a lot more freedom. Really looking forward to spending time working alongside my wife and kids.
first...Sarah, you are awesome. next...I had to laugh when you walked Myrtle to the new area with a bucket of food. Our cows used to get out all of the time and we used a bucket of grain to get them back inside the fence. I have too many memories of my 85 lb daughter running down the road with a bucket of grain and cows following along behind her.

Hi, beautiful family! She's a bright pig, a master of escape.
We had an escape artist sow when I was a kid. Nothing we did seemed to keep her in. Greta was a master at escaping! I believe she eventually went to freezer camp as my dad was fed up lol.
That music you played while myrtle was walking got me🤣🤣 Love their setup! Great teamwork!!
