because "Mad Max" as a term is the name of the entire franchise, it's not just the character's name. Furiosa takes place within Mad Max, so for the branding cohesion's sake, they have to make it clear in the title. I don't know why it is so hard for people to see this.

Awesome, another Mad Max movie without Mad Max in it 😏 and yeah, I know Tom Hardy played him in Fury Road but he ain't Max. Max will always be Mel Gibson.
Its pretty obvious that some time post 1985, George Miller became a staunch feminist and so, with the cancel culturing of Mel Gibson after his audio recorded drunk profanity laden escapades, probably put George in a mental position that he could never cast Mel again and this seemingly also has an affect on the Max character considering how Fury Road felt like a reboot of sorts and Max waa sidelined in his own movie with very little agency or dialogue
I have to agree with the other youtubers on this one . This is just another girl boss movie where the female protagonist looks like I could smell her through the screen. This started with Charlize Theron in Mad Max Furiosa , then with Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider: Sofia Boutella in Reble Moon ; Freya Allan in Kingdom of the planet of the apes ; now with Anya Taylor-Joy in this movie . Maybe I'm not remembering this correctly, or completely but I thought in Fury Road, Feriosa was a concubine of The Bad Guy in that movie who was kicked to the curb once it was found out she was barren?
Yeah no you're remembering it wrong. Immortan Joe (weird older guy in the translucent body suit and skull designed gas mask) had a concubine of women, yes, but Furiosa was his oil tanker driver that he respected due to the events seen in this prequel. She turned on him though when she decided to smuggle his concubines out of there using the oil tanker
Weirdly this idea that the setting of mad max is hopelessness and despair only starts at fury road. The previous films all had people hoping for and searching for a better life and the films never hinted that any of this was impossible. I think the cynical tone of the new movies is just Miller being grumpy in his old age.
That was only in the original Mad Max. Where it was more dystopian leaning than post apocalyptic. I mean, in that movie you had working towns, law enforcement, hospitals, etc Once Mad Max: the Road Warrior came after it, it totally went post apocalyptic with misery and despair everywhere And then Japan was like let's make that but with the most violent of kung fu so we got Fist of the North Star 😆
I do not like prequels over the simple fact that you know what is going to happen without even seeing it especially if it surrounds a prominent character(Furiosa being that) and it doesn't matter what you throw at her she will always survive and it is that fact that my interest drops very quickly when it comes to prequels. Plus Furiosa is not doing very well and it is most likely due to no one wanting to know more about her character for less is better for it makes that character unique.
I don't know, I enjoyed Fury Road much more. The music, the near constant chase, the practical effects, Charlize. The effects in this one seemed fake at times, whereas the CGI hits you in the face with that guitar guy crash in Fury Road. I mean, it was... mediocre with upswings, I guess. Not as bad as some people say, but definitely not better than FR, or even close to what I'd call "good". Anya did a good job, the girl actress was OK too, Chris's character was weird and chaotic, demented, nomen omen, I liked that. I guess it didn't quite live up to the action of the first one in my eyes, there was something missing most of the time. I don't mind that there wasn't any Mad Max in it, Furiosa seemed like an interesting character to me in FR, so the choice to make her the center of attention in this story was fine with me. It's just altogether too late of a release and didn't quite hit the spot.
I feel like this movie came 5 years later, besides... why giving a prequel to a character that we nearly knew everything about in Fury Roads (Minus how she lost her arm) and not the Insane, survival instints driven Max that we only saw faint glimpses of his past in the movie?

1:13 Well, duh. Just like this new film, in FURY Road Furiosa was the main character. It's her agency, her quest to deliver the women to the Green Place. The film is a masterclass in "subverting expectations for a modern audience". Max could have been anyone. Played by anyone. He only really does one thing in the entire movie besides giving the main character her "Pull yourself up and save us all" pep talk. He goes and does a badass thing to get a steering wheel. I felt like the movie was strangely empty of character. It felt like everyone was acting around each other but not with each other. There was no real connection between any of them. Personally, I got a bit bored; it was definitely too long in my opinion.
But Mad Max has never been my thing either.
I still personally think Mad Max 2; Road Warrior is better than both “Fury” maxes.
Still a decent movie though.
The cinematography and action scenes in both Fury movies are better but overall the Mad Max films are better.
The villain is a cartoon character
Not very menacing
Kinda lame
To me it was not bad, but my problem they call it "Mad Max" saga. It should be Furiosa saga, there is no Max in this movie.
In many ways, I found Furiosa to be a superior experience compared to Fury Road. The Mad Max universe feels even more expansive and yet more intimate and layered.
Furiosa compelled me to revisit Fury Road. An outstanding prequel.
Movie was decent, good but I rather be watching MAD MAX, funny ending crotch shot 😆 dude who helped her in the movie looked like Solid Snake or would make a good one.
Sometimes you just need an action movie. Does every movie need to be deep?
Where was the T&A
Action junkie!
Max max fury road.
Zero dialogue and character development from charlize theron ( can anyone remember any iconic line from her ?) and max max ( who kept his mouth shut during the whole movie)
Its basically the Paris- Dakar car race but on acid.
The true racing car fans k ow what i'm talking about.

Well, duh.
Completely off-screen....
^Not trying to be a dick, but am I wrong? 🤷♂
Where is mad max in this movie???
I still like Mad Max. This movie is a mixbag.
I liked the originals better than the new mad max.
A Mad Max saga with no Mad Max. Pass!
I only like the original Mad Max the rest is no

Me too! I'm done with women action stars. Women belong in romance movies and that's it.
Weird take
Aliens and T2 were legendary
It's not women action stars
Its the writing and direction
@budgiecat9039 That was then, this is meow! This generation messed up all the women's action role by making them instant girl boss without earning it. The legends, they builded up to it with development that's why we love them. The girl boss movies today is full of it and is impossible to watch. Just stay away cuz they destroyed everthing.
Yup
@@ilive4d80s6 to tell you the truth, Furiosa movie actually wasn't a girl boss movie.
But people ignored because they assumed it'd be.
i did not like the movie. got bored in the first hour.
both Furiosa movies are garbage
Every time a Podcaster calls an actress an 'actor' they lose points.
But... they are.
@@James_Bee Women are actresses, men are actors. English is a gendered language.

This
Who came up with the silly notion that the word "actress" is demeaning somehow?
Its descriptive.
Who cares?
Actor-a person whose profession is acting on the stage, in movies, or on television:
Should we now call female Doctors "Doctresses"? Female Chefs "Chefesses"? Female Veterinarians "Veterinarianesses?" Female Dentists "Dentistesses"?
Female Teachers "Teacheresses"?
Some people always need something to bitch about, don't they?
@@JacobPaul-ix7oc the word was already established why are you trying to erase it. It was made for a REASON.
No one needs a female doctor for the sake of them being FEMALE.
THAT is why "Doctor*' is a unisex term.
Actor is not.
It delineates male because the word ACTRESS EXISTS.
Because f someone says "I need an actress for this role" you know right away he needs a female for the role. You don't have to add additional description and sentences.
Put that through your skull 💀
