Joss Whedon actually creates and has earned hid public cred with buffy/angel/firefly/serenity/the 20 something billion dollar Avengers movies, so I don't care how he treats multi-millionaire "work when they want" actors who do drugs all the time. Same goes for athletes. People kill for the amount of money they make in 10 minutes, so I really wouldn't care if they were in agonizing pain getting fingers and toes chopped off. If somebody is mad one of them got yelled at or ignored, they got problems that can't be fixed lol.
The Bruce opening sequence was explained in the movie itself, the town people said so "No ships, no helicopters can come in due to the weather" so the only way to get in to the town was the way he did it: on foot. The scene with him and the chopper to the airport you can assume that's the very same chopper that took him as close as possible to the town to begin with. Lastly, the Arthur leaving on that truck at the end; you can cleary see all of the ice had melted so the weather conditions are finally fit for motor transportation to go in and out of town. Although, I do agree, the sequence with Bruce could have been cut so that we only see him at the top of the mountain looking down to the town (much like in the theatrical cut) but seems like Snyder loves to show people with images how hard it is to get to that town, I guess.
Also to give an idea of the size of the area and it’s terrain, which I actually appreciate. The first version seemed to have gone from interior to interior and it never felt cinematic the way this version does. This film may be four hours, but it never felt like a slog to me at all. I thought those long scenes of exposition were completely necessary. Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut was better because it had extra scenes that gave it context. It’s the little things that count.
And, y'know, it had to suggest that reaching this secluded village was an ordeal. If Batman can just money his way around in luxury it's not much of a quest, yeah?
It's just lazy storytelling. You can show how hard it is to get to a place in a few seconds, maybe a minute, but if it takes five or ten or twenty minutes to depict what could have been shown in seconds, that's just padding out the movie to compensate for a lack of any real meat and potatoes. It's frivolous bullshit that adds nothing to the narrative and doesn't advance the plot.
One last point on to why it is 4 hours is context of the situation. Fans wanted the cut to be done so Zach just put everything he could that made sense so that it would have more than enough for a project he may never touch again.
I think this makes sense. This is not a "regular" movie that's going to be promoted by the studios and playing in local theaters. We're seeing (or going to see) something more like an extended directors cut, complete with "deleted scenes", I.E. scenes that would have been deleted for time in a more normal release.
Honestly I loved the movie. Was it long? Yes. Were there senses that could be cut out or cut down? Yes. That being said, I love how Wonder Woman was expanded on with her powers. I love how both Flash and Cyborg actually felt like part of a team. Batman even seemed to have a bigger role then just standing there in the background. For me, this run time is like Lord of the Rings Extended Version. Loved it.
Nice! I’m glad fans like you are digging it. I didn’t enjoy BVS so I feel like it would be a bad idea for me to put myself through this movie, but dammit! I want the true fans to be happy. I was rooting for you guys. This is a win.
I basically view it the same. I loved the movie, but I also understand the criticisms. I'm not going to be a rabid fanboy about it and pretend it is perfect. There are legitimate criticisms to be made, and I agree with a lot of them, like; Too much slow motion, quite a few scenes that were unnecessary, a weird shirt-sniffing woman, 4:3 aspect ratio (I have a widescreen projector Snyder, let me use all of it!), etc. Still, the movie was great, and I'm sure I will watch it again. I would actually be happy with more movies being longer if it means they can actually have stories that are better and make more sense. ^_^
I actually like the fact that Cyborg got more time. He has a lot of depth and it's very well executed. Also, brilliant acting. Yes, they could probably cut 30-45 minutes, but all in all, I'm far from disappointed.
At first I wasn't looking forward to getting more Cyborg cuz he was just so dull and mopey in the 2017 version, plus the Ray Fisher controversy was turning me off to him. But this version of Cyborg is 100x's better and more fleshed out.
I may be in the minority, but I liked the grimness of BvS so despite the worry I have over the apparently bloated run time it sounds like I'll probably enjoy this one.
Oh I liked it too and if you were into BVS And MOS you will love this, I finished it yesterday and I never felt bored, there were some stuff that I can nitpick but believe me 4 hours will fly by like you won't even notice it
MoS was meh and BvS was just a mess imo but I really liked ZSJL. Mainly because there's no politics, out of place symbolisms, and less dream sequences that come out of nowhere. Oh and of course, no "Save Martha." and "Why did you say that name!"
This film may be four hours, but it never felt like a slog to me at all. I thought those long scenes of exposition were completely necessary. Not every character deserves a movie. I don’t think anyone wanted to wait ten years for a payoff. Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut was better because it had extra scenes that gave it context. It’s the little things that count.
@@samuraigundam0079 True. Though it's likely anyone that saw it would agree - Cut back on the slow motion and/or crop some of the scenes down and it would have flowed better. There's a good amount of runtime in a lot of scenes that wasn't necessary is my point. E.g. -Bruce Wayne trekking -Excess Flash in slow motion -Roughly a third of the amazon fighting Steppenwolf -Martian Manhunter -Iris West pet shop scene etc
@@sardonically-inclined7645 I think those scenes were necessary to give a bigger scope of the world they live in. Like someone else said here, it was explained that Bruce was not initially allowed to just fly his helicopter into the village. I do think some things could have been cut for time, but when I think about what wasn’t necessary, I’m hard pressed to come up with character scenes that could be cut or trimmed and have the same effect. Maybe the Iris scene, because it doesn’t pay off; the janitor scene; the village singing scene definitely. I dint even know what that was about. Maybe it was meant to tell Bruce that his modern sensibilities don’t belong in their town, and so they sang a traditional song so he could get that message, I suppose?
@@samuraigundam0079 Yes it was explained, and just as easily didn't have to be in the script. Could've shown sweeping landscape shots and a cgi helicopter for 20 seconds with same result.
@@IronDragon-2143 True without Tolkien's influence we'd probably never have gotten as much great fantasy fiction we have since ..... the man's work is the seed of the genre.
He did, and nothing was made of it. It wasn't a plot point. The line was only in there to explain why Bruce had to reach the town on horseback. Take the line out and Bruce could have arrived by helicopter and saved the film three minutes of padding.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 That's true. The only (weak) point that whole Btuce traversing an iceberg scene had for me was something like 'look how much beauty there is in our world that would perish if Darkseid had his way with it'.
Whedon was trending on twitter a couple days ago with the tag full of people trashing him for the theatrical cut and blaming him for everything wrong with it. Like I said, I'm not defending the guy, but he was in an impossible situation that was largely created by the studio.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 yes, RECENTLY. Not for all the 3,5 years. Get my point? And if he was in an impossible situation, maybe he wouldn't let the Flash land on top of Wonder Woman, for example. Just saying. He made some stuff of his own. And he also mocked the idea of the SnyderCut being released. Not to mention the recent allegations against him being thrown out, mostly by women.
@@MARKMEDIACO There were a lot of people mocking the idea of a Snyder cut being released. Just glad he was wrong. But tha last part...what do "allegations against him" have to do with the plot or quality of a movie??
I enjoyed it, but I'm pretty easy to please. Very reasonable complaints. Like did we need to see that singing lady pick up Aquaman's sweater and give it a sniff?
@@danielmillward9947 But did it have to take so long? Why couldn't the scene have ended after Bruce realized Arthur left while the ladies were singing? Why did we have to watch as one went up to the waters edge, pick up Arthur's sweater, and lovingly sniff it? I don't mind the idea behind it, but it could have been trimmed without losing anything worthwhile.
@@fenrir607 It's because the ladies view Arthur as a god it's world building. It's how good Arthur can be and people praise him juxtaposed to him running away from his own responsibilities.
I liked it a lot. But it was like getting your parents to take you to the amusement park after you missed the school trip. A great consolation, but not quite the same. The school trip got a cyborg and flash origin story first. Your parents got you the snyder cut. I have to still give the parents credit for a valiant effort and still had fun. But still wish I made it to that school trip.
i liked it except for: weak darkseid, whiny cyborg, amazons using bows and arrows (how useless to have a race of warriors that never fight, and when they do they use outdated weaponry)
Dc saw how successful the MCU was and wanted the same. But instead of taking their time to introduce characters in solo movies and plot devices, they jumped to Justice League too soon.
Exactly .... it they'd done it right we might not even be at a Justice League movie yet .... and now we might be at a point where this might be the only one they make ...
I’m sorry, this film may be four hours, but it never felt like a slog to me at all. I thought those long scenes of exposition were completely necessary. Not every character deserves a movie. I don’t think anyone wanted to wait ten years for a payoff. Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut was better because it had extra scenes that gave it context. It’s the little things that count.
@@strifenineteen True, but that only backs up the idea that we didn’t need every one of these characters to get their own movie to, as you said, care for them. Do they deserve their own film? Sure. But I wasn’t sold on Cyborg, until we got to know him better in this film. I don’t even think his story would have been as significant, if he had had his own heroic adventure first. He needed to feel appreciated by others in order to break out of his melancholy and understand himself and his father. It worked best this way, I believe.
Tbh, after all that hype, Flash in this version isn't even an improvement from the other version. 1. He can't phase or still doesn't know how, so he just destroys things that will just point to him if needed. 2. This Barry is bad at keeping a secrets as he reveals himself to Iris after saving her, a stranger at this point, and the pet shop owner by stopping his flash time long enough for both of them to see him and then zooming off and trying to pretend he when to the dog pin in 2 seconds of a car crash. 3. Iris is black so if this universe continues or is used as reference well guess what Wally fans you will have to see another shitty black Wally over ginger Wally unless they pull the adopted or step card out of their asses. 4. Barry's is used not as a hero, but as a tool, more so than the actual Cyborg in both versions, Barry's job is to be a portable charger and a time machine in this movie so while he is important to the plan, the plan normally says stay out of the movie Flash until we want to do a slo-mo scene. 5. Somehow, someway, both movies can't make the Flash not look weird when he is seen running, this is just weird as somehow tv shows can make a more believable flash run than a movie with a giant budget.
The longer the better imo. I did personally not think any thing was Unneeded. Cutting things out is how we got the 2017 Justice league. also no need to do the entire movie in 1 sitting.
Sonic definitely listened to the fans. I think most of us can agree that Sonic the Hedgehog sent the same "respect the fans" message, and was a much better movie when it came to pacing, character development, and basic storytelling. That may have been a year ago, but it still rings true.
Agreed! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!! Snyder may have been threatened by some PR hack from WB but it was still bad form! Why does anyone think G&G are haters? Especially since many of them are more diverse than Snyder's circle of friends!
@King Slayer That's not what Snyder said at all, and no, he has NO point. Snyder implied that the recent killing spree on Asian women was performed by people akin to the team at Geeks and Gamers. WHAT?!

Good review. Vito had a similar take on it. Too many people are pretending that this is like Orson Welles' lost version of 'The Magnificent Ambersons'. I think that in another year it'll be quite forgotten, like the Rise of Skywalker.
Loved the movie, So happy this got released and i got to see it. I for one dont mind Snyders take on the character and i appreciate his interpretation of them as much i would when i read i Comicbook elseworlds story.
4 hours use to be more common in movies. In fact that's why intermission was a thing, people would watch the first half of a movie and then they would take a break outside and discuss what they had seen ( go to the bathroom, smoke, get a drink or whatever ) then go inside and watch the rest of the movie. I love this cut of the movie but I understand that people's attention span isn't what it used to be. To each they're own.
I assume the Bruce long walk opening was very Lord of the Rings-ish. Look at the majestic terrain! Oooo. Ahhhh! Yes, it probably should be cut out of a movie version and be in some extended Director's cut. A lot should be snipped out for a movie theater. But for a streaming service? I mean, people binge watch 10 episode series in a sitting. Taking breaks between a few episodes at a time. So a four hour movie on a streaming service that shows everything in chapters makes sense. In some ways, it slows things down like a graphic novel. Do we need that in a theater? No. You got the hour forty tops and they want to show the movie as many times as they can while you're crammed in a bunch of seats, churning these things out. Those two hour to three hour movies are pushing it. That being said, I totally understand cutting a ton of unnecessary footage and getting to the point. I'd take out the Wonder Woman heist. She's the one char we got to know. So, we don't need to focus on her murdering the guy with the machine gun trying to kill the crowd. She could have easily run up and broke his machine gun, but instead, she decided to clap and destroy him, along with an entire wall, causing all kinds of collateral damage and lie to a girl, telling her she can be anything she wants when she wants to be Wonder Woman. Because, going to Themyscira to train is totally an option for her or getting magic equipment or super strength on par with Wonder Woman's. No, just lie to her. Cut that scene out. Things like Cyborg helping some waitress and Flash saving Iris, those scenes I'd keep to set up those characters, if they can trim the movie and hold onto them. The flash scene in particular looked expensive, so I understand wanting to show something to compare to the X-Men's Quicksilver speedster scenes. Though, Flash's running was a little jarring. I liked the dad explaining Cyborg's powers and how deadly he is. To me, he's always been the Booyah guy who can take a hit and has a laser cannon. His dad makes him sound pretty bad aft. Having the general in Man of Steel suddenly reveal himself being Martian Manhunter was a little odd. I'd cut those out and save him for another movie. But I get that they wanted to show him and the green lantern cameo, as future JL chars. I think Ryan Choi as Atom in the future was also inserted. The Lois arc only needed maybe the pregnancy test scene, visiting Super-Man's memorial, and her visiting it when he's resurrected. Then the scenes after. Otherwise, she didn't need to be in the beginning/middle of the movie. Same with Clark's mom. Trim that fat. For a streaming service, though, sure, make a big epic movie and bonus features. We're not trapped in a theater and can enjoy it or watch chapters. And yes, it had way too many endings like Return of the King.
I watched 2017 Justice League and the very next day watched Zack Snyder's and it was much better. Maybe a few scenes were unnecessary like the Icelanders Aquaman song but I think for a long movie it was very enjoyable and kept my interest, and unlike 2017 I understood what was going on.
LOL Yes I was asking myself "Is this the musical version?" I wonder if sniffing Aquaman's sweater was in the script or the actress was just horny over Jason.
@@geraldeh7291 I think that scene is showing how they revere Arthur like a god. Those cultures are much more religious or superstitious than we in the west, so I get it. I think it could have been shorter but I liked how it showed that superman wasn't the only "god" or the only one doing good for those in need. He's literally their saviour
I watched the film twice, taking breaks during both sessions, and the runtime was easily my biggest gripe with it. The story that this film tries to tell can be told in less than four hours, without having to be truncated to two or under. Simply keep what matters for the characters and story at present, and junk all of the extraneous fluff. And while the Snyder Cut's existence is a win, I see it strictly as a win for Zack himself. It's also set a dreadful precedent, with the likes of "#RestoreTheSnyderVerse" and "#ReleaseTheAyerCut" (of Suicide Squad) now beginning to flood the internet. C'mon guys, just take the win and don't go getting greedy.
The Snyder Cut is socially and historically significant, not cinematorgraphically significant. Like Star Wars became after the first six movies, it is no more a movie but a social event. Personally I hate the dark DC Snyder vision. Killer Batman, Killer Superman, Drunk Aquaman, mentally-challenged Flash... nope. I want superheroes, or heroes at least, inspiring people, not failures in tights and capes. But if the Snyder Cut brings back the respect due to fans (=customers) and creators instead of having wallets in suits meddling into things, or worse, ideologues exploiting brands to push an agenda instead of artists entertaining us, I'm all for it.
Upvote because we like and support Thorias, that aside, being a fanboy (of the League, not Snyder) i loved the Snyder cut, it has always been a dream to see a good live action Justice League movie and this one was on the spot for me. I'd really like to see more of this dceu.
It sounds to me like Snyder was stuck between a rock and a creative hard place. You could get the best filmmakers in of all time, but some projects are too unwieldy and too unreasonable to work. No matter who you are or how skilled you may be, when a film studio wants to rival an epic that had a 10+ year build-up, by using their own minimal backlog to explain an equally complex story, you're going to be in for a rough ride.
@Regina Phalange: the issue was rather that - with so much ground to cover - what was the POINT of the extended scene of Cyborg learning to manipulate the financial market? It's as Thorias said: that didn't play a role in the story, it was waaaaaaaay too long and - essentially - stupid because it was out of place. Just adding 10 million (or 10 thousand, don't remember right now) to someone's bank account DOESN'T solve anything. In fact it is more likely to bring more trouble for the waitress, because eventually someone is gonna ask "where did she got the money from"? And - since the movie doesn't explore that, it is completely unnecessary. Plus what sort of a person tells an angry, young man that he now can manipulate nuclear warhead? Overall I can appreciate the sentiment of giving Cyborg more backstory and personality, but the execution left quite a few things to be desired in my opinion.
@@Kewryn I understand your point, but regarding the "it was out of place" the problem is on the studios for wanting to rush things to catch up to Marvel, in a movie introducing the character these elements are necessary and for me it isn't too long (I still think some other parts are too long like the song in iceland or the amazons shooting the arrow, there are also too many slow motions, and some dialogues have a problem of pacing, but overall I like it better than the previous one and it resolved several problems of the first story)
@@reginaphalange9417 lets me put it a bit differently (because I get wanting to present the abilities of a new character and I am for that): the problem itself is not with showing this ability of Cyborg... rather that - in the context of this movie - we really don't need to know he can manipulate financial market. It is not a skill that comes into play at any moment in the main plot (heck: I doubt it's something that will ever come into play in movies) and basically it can be just summed up with no, real loss for the viewer (kinda like the mention about nuclear warheads). And yes: there are scenes that I find just as dragged/needless that may be even more unnecessary (the Iceland song probably being the prime example), but that in itself doesn't excuse scene that fall into the category to a lesser extend. In my opinion this film isn't the best moment to dwell into that aspect of Cyborg (than again I think it was too soon for Flash to use his time-travelling ability too and yet they made it the crucial element of the plot). Now I do sign under the notion that this is - overall - a superior version of the movie: characters are more fleshed out, they have backstories and motivations, plot makes a lot more sense... all "well and good". Still - in my opinion - that scene is one of those that could really be skipped and the film would not suffer for it any.
i think the real win here, even as the movie itself can be a bit bad, is seeing a director fullfilling his vision in creating a film he wanted to create, as much there will always the nerd rage criticism which can be said as valid, seeing zack snyder, even though i am not a fan of his, complete his work not for just the fans but also himself makes it worth it
This is not because I loved the movie, but Thorias has become a fhater. He is entitled to his opinion but saying that this movie'improvements are just about the way it looks and the epicness of the action scenes is objectively wrong.
If you like to binge watch,I doubt the length was much of a problem. I took my time to watch it. 1hr each day. It all stems from DC feeling like they needed to catch up with marvel. I do agree that Snyder could've chopped out certain elements though.
If DC wanted to catch up with Marvel, it could have begun using Feige's formula of stand-alone movies involving the main cast members leading up to a larger, connected narrative. But Warner Bros. and its owners at AT&T never wanted to put in the time or effort for a long game. They wanted results NOW, consequences be damned. Basically, the only good DCEU movies to be released were Shazam and Joker, both of which were produced with smaller budgets and focused on character-driven narratives that played to audience sympathies, Shazam with orphaned youths and Joker with people struggling with mental illness or know people who struggle. Snyder is garbage at telling such stories because he lacks basic empathy and is all about losing himself in mindless epics that pretend to be noble but are dystopian and depressing. Small wonder his daughter took her own life. Growing up with a father like that whose entire worldview is lifted from Ayn Rand's demented ideology, it shouldn't be at all surprising.
@@TheWilkReport @The Wilk Report Wasn't Justice League out before AT&T acquired them? It was before they got bought. So AT&T had no input on everything that came before. That was all WB rushing the process. So naturally Batman and Superman came into the picture because they are the brands big 2 I think they had a number of good movies actually. WW,Aquaman,Shazam, MOS. It's possible that MOS is the best DCEU film. It's one thing to criticize the mans approach to film making, but you went to far. Neither one of us know the man or his daughter personally.
This was not a binge watch situation. The film seemed structured for a one-chapter-at-a-time release like a mini-series. Having seen the thing now, that would have worked much better.
I think they could've cut down epilogue and there only should've been the scene with Clark and Bruce any other scene we didn't needed it, also the songs didn't fit for me when iris crashes and with Aquaman slowing walking towards the ocean, some of the jokes didn't land not all failed but it was a mixmatch I really enjoyed the movie and for me it didn't felt like 4 hours it just flew by, I had my problems with it but nothing that took me out of it, I think they could've cut it down to 3 hours 30 minutes, but since it wasn't a theatrical release and this wasn't even supposed to be canon I can get Snyder putting every last footage he had to put it in one last time Overall I loved it for me it was 9/10
Keep in mind one thing. This may be Snyder's only chance at presenting a Justice League movie. He has said they are not discussing a sequel. If he was going to tell the story, he wanted to tell as much as possible. However, overall, I really enjoyed it. Much more than the first one. BTW, I love your Batwoman rants. Worst show on TV. No idea how it got a 2nd season.
I liked the fact the villain was simultaneously more and less of a punk. While they built the character up they renforced the fact they were someone in the dog house and as such gave a clear cut understanding of his motive and why he was doing this, outside of his mummy telling him to
I didn't have the problem you had. I didn't see the 2017 cut so I had no idea what to wait or how it was going to follow or end. I enjoyed every minute because I didnt know anything. You have seen the movie, so it was painful for you.

As always, thank you for giving a 100% honest to how you feel review. Too many are just saying how great it is because ?reasons?... Nice to know your out there Thorias, getting all worked up for all us sinners. 😉
That's true. I had no interest in seeing the Sonic movie at first. Then the studio made those changes, so I saw it to support them for listening to the fans and ended up enjoying the movie.
I was very satisfied with this movie! Like it much better than ANY marvel movie because it’s not childish or “kid friendly”! The action in this is far above anything in the mcu has done! I will admit it is too long but I don’t care as the action makes up for it by far. Hope this changes some minds and we get another justice league and some more Henry Superman films!
This film gave more character development and heart to its characters than the 2 infinity War films and this was coming from zack snyder, weird what 4 hour's of story can do for you isn't it 😂
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) isn't perfect but it is a good film in my opinion. 7/10 from me. After finishing watching it, I was like: *"Damn, I actually want to know what will happen next."* But we will never going to see that. Too bad :/
I thoroughly enjoyed the Snyder cut, but I can still agree with the criticisms. Like for example, they could have cut an hour off the movie if Snyder didn't get a boner from slow motion. Slow motion has it's place, it can be used to enhance some of the fight scenes because some of these characters are super fast. Oh, and a scene they really could have cut? Shirt sniffing girl. We really didn't need that.
Creatively and pacing wise it sucked? It's a 4 hour Zack Snyder movie. You can say what you want about certain plot holes or characters being disappointing. But, Zack is one of the most creative minds in cinema. Every scene he directs is worthy to be framed and put up in a living room. I did not hate The Whedon version. There are a few scenes i really liked. But this is far superior. And it's beyond just 4 hour runtime. The characters are much more fleshed out. And yeah the padding helps. To calm the viewer down inbetween awesome scenes. There are serious heartfelt scenes. That made me cry(and i've watched it 3 times). It is one of the most high stakes, emotional roller coaster ride i've ever been in. 1 thing i preferred in the Whedon cut though is Aquaman. He felt much more brash and cocky. And i thought he stole the show in that movie.
@@teo-pc8yx Cyborg helping the single mom and Flash's helping The League at the end. Both those scenes are so emotional, they get me everytime. My favorite scene in the Whedon cut is Steppenwolf vs The Amazons. In both cuts it represented Themescara great.
Nice video thorias, always like to hear your point of view, although i agree there could be stuff trimmed down or cut, the run time doesn't bother me, it felt more complete and cohesive as a whole, and felt like 1 complete movie with a connecting storyline all the way through...i maybe agree that it could have maybe ended sooner but i enjoyed the few bits after it, clark getting his family house back, the martian manhunter cameo..altho i think the flash forward dream sequence could have been left out. i think the characters were handled better her, more fleshed out and had better dialogue. I also thought the flash was more likeable in this version, i dont get the hate for ezra miller, hes good in 'we need to talk about kevin'..but yeh him and cyborg were far better as characters and had something to do. overall im happy with it.
Why are people complaining about the length? It was meant to be 2 movies. Since cutting it into 2 was useless since people have already got a glimpse of the ending via the theatrical releaae.. So theu opted to release the whole thing. It's the viewers choice to go throught at their own pace. See the chapter title cards. It the points where you make a choice to take a break or sit through. But yeah...sure..ranting about the length makes a relatable tweet and or a Yt video.
I didn't mind the 4 hours because what else am I going to do stuck at home. It had it issues and I caught myself saying why is this happening a few times but I enjoyed film. I'm still annoyed with lois lane, remember when zod pointed her out to take to his ship to talk to her about some shit.......why? I wanted to punch the screen. Other than that I hope Hollywood listens to fans because fucking star wars and star trek need some real help.
I don't agree with your review, but I agree with what this movie means for fans. I loved the movie and I hope change does come to western entertainment and that they finally listen to us.
I liked it, but I like Snyder's style and I must like slow burns more than most. I liked Man of Steel and I didn't hate Batman V Superman and the extended version of Watchmen is one of my all time favorite movies. The project was severely crippled from the start with the studio wanting to get straight to the DC Avengers without the setup movies, and while I enjoyed the inclusion of Martian Manhunter, I am still missing Green Lantern from the lineup. There were also a couple parts in the original that I was sad to not see here. The initial scene with Cyborg and his father where he brings up monsters and his father tells him he isn't a monster. His reply of, "Interesting that you thought I was talking about me..." had a good weight to it that wasn't in their scene here. The other was the hinted romantic interest between Wonder Woman and Batman that was played with in the animated series. It also showed Diana's respect for Bruce risking his life as a human with no powers.
They literally said ""Storm grounded choppers for 6 days"" (in Icelandic language). Aquaman had to swim there with food to help those people. And you really think you can drive a car through those steep, slippery, and narrow icy mountains? At Epilogue, Aquaman was at a DIFFERENT place ( Vulko literally said "you never slept at the same place twice..."). The movie show Barry save random people (he doesn't know Iris yet) was because of Superman, Superman IS his hero (said in the movie). The Cyborg mind scenes not only shows you how Cyborg power works in his mind, it also show you his character, that deep down he has a heart, even though from the outside he is literally a machine. In Wonder Woman movie, we saw a glimpse pf the Amazons and Themyscira through Diana, and she left that place pretty early in the film. This movie show more of the culture of the place and the people, show you how different the are and how they choose to act during an alien invasion as to men. It is important to keep those scene in the movie. (Snyder said this in an interview). I personally not bored by any of those, and I want more. Any other solo movies, whether it's Nolan, Scorsese, or whoever..., are gonna have character introductions intertwined and progressed through the main story, and I am completely find with that. Marvel formula isn't the only way to do it. I don't need a bunch of shitty "content type" filler that bored the shit out me just to build up to one good movie. (In Avengers 1, they had to build character for Black Widow and Hawkeye, because although they appeared in other movies, we don't shit about them. The whole arguing in the Helicarrier was fucking boring. Nobody remember that shit. People only remeber the climax, the battle of New York). And Snyder completely knows why he needs to end the movie with a cliffhanger. He's not stupid. He is a master at creating hype. He purposefully film more scene to end it this way. Because: 1) That's was the plan before he stepped put of the project. 2) He wants people to ask for more. That's why #RestoreTheSnyderVerse is a thing and it will continue to be trending in the future.
And did the storm grounding choppers thing go anywhere? No. It's not like it was a plot point or anything. They could have just taken the line out, had Bruce arrive by helicopter and cut three minutes of padding from the movie.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 Well it did go somewhere set up Aquaman at least how Bruce knew his mode of transportation by sea not by ship or helicopter so no plausible deniability, Aquaman can't BS his way out of it.
Considering they've been slowly reducing the length of movies while charging the same price to watch, I consider the length a plus. Even people with normal attention spans have had them shortened over time and this is terrible for our culture
Where did you ever get that idea? 90 minutes has been the standard of theatrical release since movies stopped being silent. I am not aware of many movies in cinema being significantly shorter than that. And since the advent of modern FX, they are more often closer to 100 minutes nowadays as a general rule. They're not getting shorter, they're actually getting longer overall. Unfortunately, that length is usually bloated imagery or repetitive action, not enhanced storytelling, when not outright padding to compensate for said lack of story. There always have been exceptions of course; Ben Hur at 3 hours 31 minutes in 1959; The Trial of Billy Jack a little over 3 hours in the 70's. Both had an intermission at the 90 minutes mark. Mochizuki's History of Japan is one movie 24 hours long! But as the saying goes, exceptions do not make the rule. As for prices, they have risen more significantly. I saw Star Trek The Motion Picture (130min) for 2$ when it came out in 1979; Star Trek 09(126min) in 2009 cost me 12$. So yeah the lenght/price ratio has worsened but it's not because movies are getting shorter. It's good'ole inflation and capitalism.
@@odojang This is probably the perception of the average Gen Z kid, weaned on a bunch of big blockbusters. I welcome this era of longer form serialized television as an alternative, though. The cinema experience has a lot of nostalgia for me, and I remember almost every movie I ever saw in a theater because of the associated experience, but it's getting to the point that the actual product -- gimmicks aside -- isn't so much more polished than what we get on the small screen.
While I completely understand your criticisms and share a number of them (Ezra Miller, Cyborg), I don't think you're entirely fair. Let's face it. This is but a publicity stunt for HBO Max and a product for video streaming. Its roots may be a movie for the cinema, but the Snyder Cut itself isn't. As such I'd like to measure this thing. Overall I think this is the best comic book adaptation yet. To me it felt like reading a comic book story arc from beginning to end. Now was this the best comic book story arc possible? No, definetly not. But I enjoyed the ride and wasn't bored from any of the scenes. Simply because it felt like reading a comic book. Panel by panel. And that feeling is simply awesome. Now the impression of a movie too damn long and self indulgent would have been avoided if they'd released the cut as a series binge drop with each chapter being one episode. And I believe this was actually planned until fairly recently. That being said the best comparison is made to shows like Wanda Vision or Falcon and the Winter Soldier. - I dare say the Synder Cut is the way better product. And I hope future streaming series will take some inspiration from the Snyder Cut.
The criticism would still be there even if it was a mini series, the issue isn't length it's bloat. There are a ton of scenes that serve no real purpose to the story whatsoever or that just drag on way too long for no reason. Zack Snyder is a very self indulgent man.
I would watch on the principle of getting the studios to listen if I believed that that was the reason they did it. Warner Bros didn't release this film because they listened to the fans, they did it because they wanted you to subscribe to their streaming service. I feel it'll go back to business as usual once the buzz around this movie has died down.
I never hated the theatrical release of Justice League because there were still scenes in it that worked really well. It turns out that everything I liked was from the Snyder Cut anyway. As for the runtime, the film should be watched with the same patience with which a novel is read. That's an unusual strategy for watching a film, but I feel like it was an experiment that succeeded.
For over 4 hours to expand the characters but plot is similar to original version, that's a waste of production cost. So let's campaign for The Rise Of Skywalker extended cut now...
I agree with his assessment. This film is being glorified to the Nth degree because of matters that have nothing to do with the quality of the actual movie. I didn't dislike it but it is flawed and over-indulgent. I'm happy for the people who like this, but it is not the cinematic masterpiece many are claiming it is.
Didn't liked it as much as I thought I would. The characters build up of flash Cyborg and Aquaman took too much place in the movie. At the 2nd and 3rd hour I was just wondering where's the action. Its like the story was moving at turtle speed. Didn't liked batman changing his personality, Martian Manhunter introduction. Oh and Jesus batman cowl in the kryptonian ship is just a NO. I thought it was a whedon cut. Nightmare scene was one of the best things of this movie. Flash was great too. Cyborg was great in many ways but in a way leaving flash's story on the side just doesn't make sense to me. Wonder woman was great she did a lot. But the team up work wasn't good. I don't like the recent mcu but hell their team up work is much better. Snyder is better at solo movies then movies with several heroes. I'd rather watch bvs. I know it's contradictory but snyder was able to tell 2 stories in 3 hours while in JL, he wasmaking 4 stories in 4 hours while the plot should be centered not put apart. *THAT'S WHY YOU MAKE SOLO MOVIES* The dialogue isn't great some of them are cringe. And I rarely do. Too much slow mo and song choices are just a NO. I prefer the heroes theme. The only theme I can clearly remember is WW.
Snyder is a terrible storyteller. The Snyder Cut is still the same movie, a big threat comes to earth, Batman and the Justice League revive Superman, and then The Justice League comes together. I consider anything after Man of Steel non-canon. Man of Steel is probably the only good DCEU movie we’ll get. Matt Reeves Batman is probably the best stand alone non DCEU movie we’ll get. Fuck the Snyderverse and the DCEU and reboot DCEU. Shazam and James Gunn DCverse is as good as it gets.
I loved the movie. Yeah, it was too long. I didnt like the ending flash back/future scenes or martian man hunters scene, cuz it its so stupid, after the world is saved he comes out like "so guys what can i do?" where the hell were you when we all almost died? But aside from all that i had a blast, stephen wolf was so much better here, superman didnt have that weird lip cgi, batman wasnt some comic relief, and cyborg and flash became internal to the entire movie. So still an awesome experience for me.
I fell asleep half way through my first viewing. Laughed my ass off beforehand then had to rewatch the second half. I like that there was a lot of details explained and motivations explored but all that being said it was still bad.
Honestly, the Snyder Cut made me feel like I was being too hard on Batman V Superman (Make no mistake, IMO BvS is still Garbage), but compared to the Snyder Cut, BvS is the Cinematic Masterpiece its defenders claim it to be.
It's a directors cut, not an alternate theatrical release so yes it's supposed to be long. Just like LOTR. Lots of extra stuff in the directors cuts. Also bvs was also subject to lots of studio interference and them wanting to catch up to marvel. WB is the real villain
They needed to cut a lot of the slow mo out of it, and well Snyder needs to ignore Hollywood when being told to distance himself from the fans who helped get the movie off the ground like Geeks & Gamers when they are promoting him. Specially during a live stream for his charity 8 hours before the movie primaries and the first thing he tells them is, "Well I see the logo, but we're not really affiliated with them." That kind of generates bad will.
I usually binge watch television shows on my weekends so 4 hours is nothing to me. I enjoyed most of it. Some things slowed the story down but as I said binge watching tv episodes is no different. I loved it. I still think Batman is not used very well though. IMO
Hm. No surprise to me. ZS never was a great storyteller, even messed up Watchmen. And as for the fans getting what they want, it looks more to me like a boardroom decision to milk this property for all they could by releasing another version for a lot less than the first one and getting a lot of hype.
@@whocaresguy Well if you have to disagree, I'll have to accept that. Maybe I'm too much of couch critic... Main gripe is how Dr. Manhattan was framed as opposed to the original story, where he's more an embodiment of existential crisis. Admittedly it was pretty close to the original material, still felt somewhat fragmented. Haven't watched the ultimate edition, maybe that's a better take.
He spent way too much time complaining about people on the internet building up hype for this project. Something that had absolutely nothing to do with the film itself. He could have left that out as it was unnecessary.

@@samuraigundam0079 Somuch truth in this comment dude
And, y'know, it had to suggest that reaching this secluded village was an ordeal. If Batman can just money his way around in luxury it's not much of a quest, yeah?
It's just lazy storytelling. You can show how hard it is to get to a place in a few seconds, maybe a minute, but if it takes five or ten or twenty minutes to depict what could have been shown in seconds, that's just padding out the movie to compensate for a lack of any real meat and potatoes. It's frivolous bullshit that adds nothing to the narrative and doesn't advance the plot.
@@TheWilkReport that your excuse for evertything
One last point on to why it is 4 hours is context of the situation. Fans wanted the cut to be done so Zach just put everything he could that made sense so that it would have more than enough for a project he may never touch again.
@Budgie Cat the assembly cut was 5 hours, so he actually had cut _something_ lol
Ah, a Thorias assessment. This should be good, and useful.

I actually like the fact that Cyborg got more time. He has a lot of depth and it's very well executed. Also, brilliant acting. Yes, they could probably cut 30-45 minutes, but all in all, I'm far from disappointed.

@@samuraigundam0079 True. Though it's likely anyone that saw it would agree - Cut back on the slow motion and/or crop some of the scenes down and it would have flowed better. There's a good amount of runtime in a lot of scenes that wasn't necessary is my point.

If you're someone who appreciates visuals and show don't tell then you need those long sprawling vista shots
And that's it...I think what we really got was an extended director's cut. Which is fine for what it is.
No one thinks it’s perfect....but that’s what makes it perfect! Art reflecting life 🤷🏾♂️👍🏾
I watched the film twice, taking breaks during both sessions, and the runtime was easily my biggest gripe with it.
People should stop calling Snyder's version the 'Snyder Cut' because at 4 fkin hrs he didn't cut fk all out of that movie- believe!
"Pretty to look at" Imma stop you right there chief
I never realized the length of the arrow seen until he pointed it out. Maybe it was the music that hypnotized me
Thanks Thorias
It was Freaking Amazing , and freaking Awesome ! But maybe call it the Synder Uncut .
for Cyborg I don't understand your problem with these added scenes, it's not very long and shows exemples of what his powers are
He just being a prick.... trolls will be trolls
@@jxmmikhent9720 No he literally explained it you donut.
Still - in my opinion - that scene is one of those that could really be skipped and the film would not suffer for it any.
i think the real win here, even as the movie itself can be a bit bad, is seeing a director fullfilling his vision in creating a film he wanted to create,
as much there will always the nerd rage criticism which can be said as valid,
seeing zack snyder, even though i am not a fan of his, complete his work not for just the fans but also himself makes it worth it
Finally! I skipped every other review of the Snyder-Cut, and the thing itself, to watch Thorias ^^ And it payed off! ^^

Growing up with a father like that whose entire worldview is lifted from Ayn Rand's demented ideology, it shouldn't be at all surprising.
....show me in the doll where Zack Snyder hurt you. Damn dude.
@@TheWilkReport @The Wilk Report Wasn't Justice League out before AT&T acquired them? It was before they got bought. So AT&T had no input on everything that came before. That was all WB rushing the process. So naturally Batman and Superman came into the picture because they are the brands big 2
I think they had a number of good movies actually. WW,Aquaman,Shazam, MOS. It's possible that MOS is the best DCEU film.
It's one thing to criticize the mans approach to film making, but you went to far. Neither one of us know the man or his daughter personally.
@@TGA19 My mistake with regards to AT&T. Sorry. Whichever corporation owned Warner Bros. and DC at the time.
This was not a binge watch situation. The film seemed structured for a one-chapter-at-a-time release like a mini-series. Having seen the thing now, that would have worked much better.
I think they could've cut down epilogue and there only should've been the scene with Clark and Bruce any other scene we didn't needed it, also the songs didn't fit for me when iris crashes and with Aquaman slowing walking towards the ocean, some of the jokes didn't land not all failed but it was a mixmatch
I really enjoyed the movie and for me it didn't felt like 4 hours it just flew by, I had my problems with it but nothing that took me out of it, I think they could've cut it down to 3 hours 30 minutes, but since it wasn't a theatrical release and this wasn't even supposed to be canon I can get Snyder putting every last footage he had to put it in one last time
Overall I loved it for me it was 9/10
Easily one of the best superhero films of all time
Keep in mind one thing.
It got extended to 3rd season even, if I'm not mistaken... beacause LOGIC!

Perfect ending to your video,Hey plus the fans got what they wanted when it came to sonic as well.
After finishing watching it, I was like:
*"Damn, I actually want to know what will happen next."*
But we will never going to see that.
What's your favorite scene ?
Finally a reviewer that isn't sucking up to Snyder! Thanks for the honest reviews Thorias!
Actually this was Part 1, Part 2 was never filmed and Snyder doesn't believe it ever will be.
More like a win for Warner Bros, HOB Max, and Zack Synder's career.
Because:
1) That's was the plan before he stepped put of the project.

@@crimsonmask3819 I share the sentiment
*THAT'S WHY YOU MAKE SOLO MOVIES*
The dialogue isn't great some of them are cringe.
Problems in YOUR opinion, Thorias
I loved it personally
I loved the movie. Yeah, it was too long. I didnt like the ending flash back/future scenes or martian man hunters scene, cuz it its so stupid, after the world is saved he comes out like "so guys what can i do?" where the hell were you when we all almost died? But aside from all that i had a blast, stephen wolf was so much better here, superman didnt have that weird lip cgi, batman wasnt some comic relief, and cyborg and flash became internal to the entire movie. So still an awesome experience for me.

Good idea. Cameras are free, right?

I get the feeling the runtime really put Thorias in an uncharitable mood on this one. A lot of the critiques seemed a tad unfair to me.
He spent way too much time complaining about people on the internet building up hype for this project. Something that had absolutely nothing to do with the film itself. He could have left that out as it was unnecessary.
