The more I see of this hearing the more it seems that the United States of America and its democracy was saved by like 5 people doing their job. Not that there wasn't heroism - but it was a scant few people respecting their oaths and duty standing on the edge of losing everything.

At minimum, AOC is right on this point: the House members that requested Pardons should be banned from the House permanently. Requesting a pardon requires you to admit guilt. They have no defense for what they did to attack America's democracy. Removing them from any form of political power is the least punishment they should suffer.
Adam is a great American as he has placed country before partisan politics and ended his political career by doing so. History will judge this man as a patriot.

McCain was similar, if it weren't for the average age of the SCOTUS and Palin I probably would have voted for him... I voted for HRC in the primary because while I loved what Obama represented and his goals, I feared he was too green/new and that republican racism would hamstring him, ultimately damaging the left. Third parties don't seems to work so well for us, because they split the vote. Didn't that happen in 1968, and that's how we got Nixon? The parliamentarian systems in Europe that use these coalitions of parties seem to work, but I don't know if USA can get used to a new system. We're just hanging on by our nails right now. Kinzinger is one of the very, very few GOOD republicans. We need more republicans like him or just less republicans as a whole. Cassidy has more courage, morals, ethics, values and patriotism than the entire GOP times 10.
He voted 95% of the time with drumpy and he's not running again. That can give someone courage to do "the right thing" but I do concur, and give him credit for atleast doing the committee. He will go down as a patriot in history books.

Just remember everybody: Hutchinson is under oath and all of the people calling her a liar are not (and refused to involved in the hearings in the first place). Those Republicans had numerous opportunities to be involved in this process - which Kevin McCarthy was originally on board with - but changed their tune when Señor Cheeto announced his disapproval of the idea.
And ironically cheeto Trump is crying for equal time to speak. But won't testify under oath. Hmmm.

The Hearings have been extrordinary. So profoundly impressed, so far.
It really helps that Gym Jordan, et. al., aren’t there to gum up the works with asinine questions and sanctimonious grandstanding.
It's well suited for the digital age, and it's not only been thorough, it's been easy to follow so far. The video testimony has been used effectively, the witnesses on stand have brought crucial insight, and the revelations of what happened, not just on Jan 6th, but well before that, have been horrific and frustrating. The outcome of this hearing and the ensuing charges brought by the DOJ have ramifications for the entire free world. As a Canadian, I've been taking notes and watching for signs and symptoms of creeping fascism here, and you don't have to dig deep to find it. How America addresses these intolerable actions against its political institutions will have echoes around the globe.

I visited Germany back in the early 80's, as a teenager. I was full of questions about Hitler and my host family were gracious and answered my questions, but warned me not to ask anyone else, outside their home. They said that there were neighbors who were still pissed about WWII and it would only start a fight. I couldn't believe that after all those years that there are still some who can't admit that they are wrong and are still willing to keep the hate going.

The only thing she got wrong was her assumption that they were in the Beast. Furthermore, her testimony was corroborated by other depositions. Cippiloni is testifying today behind closed doors. She was present for all of the pertinent happenings that she testified to since the election. Her office was 10 steps from the Oval Office, so she had a front row seat to most of the crap that Trump & his cohorts were doing.

Personally, I feel that the time has never been more right for the rise of a moderate third party. Many, many Americans are sick of the red team/blue team BS, and long for a middle ground. If he could moderate a few of his stances somewhat, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

I live in Representative Kinzinger's district here in IL (16th District) and while I do not share his political bent, I will say that he has stood up for the American people through these hearings. Unfortunately he lived in the southern end of his district and when the Congressional districts were redrawn this last year, he no longer resides in the 16th district and would be forced to run in a different district already represented by a veteran house member of his party. He opted to retire. I would love to see him step up to the plate and run for President.
I assume your governor isn't sane, otherwise I'd suggest that Kinzinger at least be on the short list for appointment to any Senate vacancy that may arise. I could see him possibly running for governor, challenging a Republican incumbent?

It is actually very dangerous to vote straight party. There are good, bad, and evil people out there who want to be politicians, and the evil people will run in which ever party they think will give them the best chance at winning. Vote for people that are intelligent, competent, and most importantly empathetic and compassionate. Never vote for someone who has no empathy, (they cannot be a good leader with out empathy). Become well educated on how to recognize sociopaths and avoid voting for sociopaths like your life, safety and freedom depend on it, because they do. Never vote for a sociopath even if the belong to your political party. If a sociopath belongs to your political party, it does not mean that they are going to support the things you care about. It just means that they are going to manipulate you, lie to you, and take advantage of you to get what they want at your expense, just like every other sociopath will do. So always vote for people based on reasons that matter and never for reasons that don’t. Also there are democrats out there that don’t actually support things that democrats support, like Joe Manchin. It is better to vote for someone in a different political party that will reach across the isle and vote for things you support, than to vote for someone in the same party who will vote against the things you support.
