Sadly they will again because the voters will never learn from their mistakes. They put their trust in them too much. The general election and even the senate seats were to close which just goes to show USA is resisting change and needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21St century. They voted for a criminal liar and grifter so they can’t play the victim when it has gone wrong. They created this monster and even now they reward him with $250m in a so called leadership pac/legal defence fund which we all know will be going into his pocket
one of them may be the next Trump.their watching 2024
I want to preface by saying that the people responsible should be held responsible, but naming names over public media is what got us into this mess. Trump standing at a podium and telling the public who to blame and who to hate just widens the divide between supporters and opponents, it doesn't flip anybody over from one side to the other, and only needs to be conveyed to the authorities that can actually do something about it.
Marjorie Taylor Greene - Did you hear her insane objection speech in the house? She had probably the most deranged and dangerously misinformed comments all day...
EVERYONE who was paying attention should have seen this coming! I am surprised it was not worse.
Don't be, cuz it's not done.
There aren’t enough prisons for those who’ve committed insurrection.
@@michaelawford7325 There is if we only send the lawmakers and violent protesters. We just need to release all of the non-violent drug offenders. Prisons are about to get a lot whiter, which should make Trump's supporters happy right?
What makes you think this is over?
You could see it coming in 2016.
We need to stop calling truth versus false a “difference of opinion”
You're so right. Election fraud, covid, racism... These aren't political opinions. These are truth and lies.
@AlexLoeher wtf are you referring to? You just extrapolated a whole lot from one sentence.
I didn’t quote anyone.
We, our leaders, and the news are constantly arguing over things that are usually objectively true or objectively false.
Covid for example.
Climate change
Election fraud
I could go on and on. Instead of arguing whether climate change exists... we can have different ways to approach the issue and disagree that way... but instead we just argue whether or not it is real.
Oh, sorry I quoted that part. I was referring to the whole thing. I think I’m with you now.
Thank you!

I agree, and also if today was the only red flag on the republicans attitude either he is an idiot or a first degree accomplice.
"I would certainly probably consider that"
That man grew balls and lost them in the same sentence. so it takes a insurection, a possibly life threatening situation and a all out attack on democratie for a republican to have balls for half a sentence. The country is truely doomed.
Republicans didn't suddenly develop a conscience, they are trying to save their own buts from being tossed in prison.
Why didn't they speak up against this during tfour years ?
Answer: they liked to travel on the gravy train which brought more power and money.
YOU DO THE CRIME, YOU DO THE TIME
which also includes being complicit and NOT speaking up.
Colbert shouldn't let that kind of statement slide. That was an easy line to comment on and say "You'd only CONSIDER it after an incited insurrection?"
"Uhh how will this affect my re-election with my Republican constituents? Can't be TOO committed!" They're all cowards.
"I didn't have staff come in today"
Things that make ya go, hmmmm
He said, “We.”
When Trump finally addressed the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol, he said, “We love you, and you are very special.”
When Trump, in this context, in his capacity as President, says “We,” he means America. He is speaking for all of us, whether we agree with him or not. I can’t be the only one bothered by this. It was bad enough to see the President of the United States declare his love for domestic terrorists publicly, but it’s unforgivable that he invoked We, the People as he did it.
Absolutely right!
Well stated. It's disgusting.
No different then how the news tells us how we feel or think.

Trump didn’t call them in it was actually Pence who did it
All those changes trump made at the pentagon right after the election led up to this....he got his cronies in charge so he could stage this with minimal resistance!
DoD wouldn't release them until after.
Our system isn't set up for a "mad king" situation, it's normally the president's responsibility to call on the national guard in DC. Pence eventually was in contact with the department of defense but the VP actually has zero authority in our government and doesn't have the authority to call for the national guard. The VP can only have the cabinet invoke the 25th amendment, which he should have done.

I noticed that he was quick to call Puerto Ricans terrorists- but can't say it about people who look like him.
TBF the Puerto Rican nationalist's attack was textbook terrorism. What happened today was worse; an attempted insurrection by traitors, and Kizinger did recognize that. There's a difference between people attempting to foster terror for ideological or personal gain, and people knowingly attempting to overthrow the constitution and lawfully elected representatives of the people. @@JoshSweetvale that's a pretty extreme view that largely ignores the factors that create terrorists. If another country--say China, England, or Russia--staged a military intervention to "bring peace and democracy to the US" and started shooting those they deemed to be terrorist threats, would you be okay with that? I bet you wouldn't.
If, say, it wasn't another country, but was an AI computer system installed by the US government that gave either machines or it's own form of human police authority to execute people on sight that it deemed to be terrorists or criminals, would you be okay with that? I bet not.
It's easy to call for people to be shot, until you're the one getting shot at because you've been misidentified, mischaracterised, or whoever is doing the shooting is using a criteria that, whether you or other people agree or not, is what they went with.
Some people might call the rise of such a system to be another form of totalitarianism or authoritarianism. It's important to not become what you want to prevent.
I bet if you got to know some of the people who were part of the riots without knowing they were there, you'd humanise them a bit and understand their reasons, even if you don't agree or condone their actions. The point being, we need to do something about the reasons people do things like invade a government building, rather than just killing them and pretending they're the root cause of the issue. They're not.
Agreed. Every last one of those violent RWNJ's who stormed the capital needs to be arrested and charged with acts of terrorism against the US. These "Y'all Qaeda" inbreeds should be sent Guantanamo indefinitely.

Values begin and end in the home. A little wisdom goes along way.
"I don't want to get into naming names..." Real profile in courage there. You severed our county in uniform but won't name names?
As a Army Veteran, I can tell you that sadly there are MANY cowards like this that has served or are still serving. Most of the are officers, but make no mistake, they are in all ranks and files. Disgusting. Traitors.
"I would certainly probably consider tha-"
Wow, such bravery.
The man deserves an award...
For bull****
"I would certainly probably consider that."
That will be his opponents ad next election
I’m not at all surprised, but so god damn moved and hopeful because Stephen is the person who has been here since last night, hasn’t slept and has the tenacity to call people out when they need be - whether or not that makes him a friend. No longer do we have the luxury as Americans to say “I’m not really into politics” or “I don’t like to talk about my beliefs” - that’s what a lot of my husband’s family and friends said before they realized they were trapped in a failed state. It came in little pieces, people tried to think positively and just go about their daily lives. They are from Venezuela. We can’t be silent.
they should fill the holes in the glass of the door with red pieces of glass...as a reminder.
Kinzinger on Impeachment: "I will certainly probably consider that." WTF?
CERTAINLY & PROBABLY shouldn't never be spoken back to back like he used them in a sentence. They cancel each other out. Which one is it? What in the actual F#**
Also didn't say "will." He was talking past tense hypothetical, "if...would," not even acknowledging the debate in the days ahead, much less answering to what he'll do.
"certainly probably consider that."
"I certainly, probably would"... such strong, noncommittal words...
He’d “certainly probably consider that “ weasley words on impeachment
Kinda maybe
This guy is GUILTY of all that!! A RAT FLEEING THE SHIP!! GET HIM OFF THE SCREEN!!
Here we are 10 mo later and nothing has changed, probably worse.
"Impeachment" is necessary. Thank you both;-)
"If I knew then what I knew now I would certainly probably consider that. " That certainly sounds like he probably considered maybe taking a stance at some point.
