One of the most amazing football games I ever watched. Probably most impressive about all of this is that Oklahoma's defense was pretty solid on all three plays: there were no major defensive gaffes that gave the Broncos a freebie. Boise State just executed all three plays perfectly in a super-high pressure situation.
They gave up a TD on 4th and 18. That’s a big gaffe. OU had opportunity after opportunity to but Boise away, but they gave up play after play when one stop seals the deal. Boise showed up, and OU thought they’d steamroll Boise only to get smacked in the mouth again and again.
I remember deciding I would watch just one game rather than channel surf the other bowl games. So glad I picked this game. One of my all time favorite sports memories.

As a neutral fan, these plays did shock the world and have had a huge impact on college football. This game will be forever known because of those 3 plays.

OU didn't quit either. They fought back hard and should've won it by all conventional standards. Boise St. won with the UFO plays, and that's what this game will be remembered for.
+J Anthony that was a low scoring some what typical college game. This game played out like it was written for Hollywood. It's the greatest game Ive ever seen. underdog (put that on a t-shirt) goes up big.. the blue chip school fires back and takes the lead.. then cinderella pulls out 3 ridiculous plays that should never work (honestly, how often do any of those plays work that well?) and takes down the $5,000,000 coach. I have this argument all the time with my dad.. he still thinks the texas vs. usc game was the best college game.. I still feel that this game is.
Absolutely eye-goggling. I was living on the west coast, came home to visit my family after New Year's we had a late dinner, came home, was watching this upstairs and trying to kill my screams. Unlike anything I have ever seen. Arguably the greatest college football game ever. Underdog goes all the way to the kitchen sink to take down a mighty, proud program that made no mistakes. It was everything any college football fan could hope for. And then Ian Johnson proposing marriage to his cheerleader girlfriend. My heart.
Greatest. College. Football. Game. Ever. ...Up there with the giants Superbowl win over the pats, gb Superbowl win with favre and the saints first home game after Katrina.
I remember it was was my freshman year of college and I was home on break watching this at my friends parents house up in his bonus room. we were up there smoking vape the whole game and when it ended like this we couldnt believe it. Being really stoned made it awesome
The greatest memory of this game for me was that Boise played straight up football until they needed to pull out the tricks. I was thinking the game would be strong football from OSU and trick plays all game from BSU to stay in it. But it was so awesome they they stayed with OSU playing real football. Then when it was time to say “screw these guys” they went to the fun plays and pulled it off. And the catch and pitch to me was the best play. They absolutely needed that one.

one of the most memorable bowl games i've seen in my life, i just couldn't believe they pull it off and beat oklahoma...this game and the one that texas beat USC is one of my most memorable bowl games in my youth life
The Statue of Liberty didn't appear to fool the left side of the defense that much, you can see them looking, recognizing, and then reacting. But it was so well blocked that they couldn't stop it.
I’m 56 and I have to say this was the greatest football game ever. I even woke up my son who was in grade school and had school the next day to watch the overtime with me. I let him sleep in an extra 2 hours. Btw I got grounded by the wife😂
Those last few possessions by BSU were some of the most exciting college football I've ever seen. I was only watching it for "background noise" while I did something else, but it wasn't long before I couldn't take my eyes off the TV. Just to complete the romanticism of this game, the BSU running back who scored the winning 2-pt conversion immediately proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend after that play. She said yes.
In my high school days we ran the circus play regularly, 2-3 times per game. I remember in a state semi finals game we ran it on the first offensive play, I caught the pass flipped it to our HB going in the opposite direction and he ran 65 yards for the TD. We ran the same play on our very next possession except to the opposite side of the field and again 6 points. Set up the very next possession in the same formation except it was a normal crossing route, I caught the pass with a corner on my heals who could have easily made the tackle, but instead he dropped off and ran for the underneath guy thinking I would toss it. Safety tracked me but not before I got 35 yards lol
Made me a believer in Boise State from that point on. I still pull for them even though Coach Pete is gone to Washington, I pull for him too! Kellen Moore was one of the gr8est QB in College Football ever.
I worked at the hotel that oklahoma stayed at during the bowl week as a food runner at the pools. I'm a Sooner, born and bred. The 2nd half of that game was some of the most exciting football I've ever seen. OU's defense was overly aggressive for quite a while and Boise exploited it.
I'm born a Sooner, raised a Bronco. Doncha know I had mixed emotions all during this game? Absolutely best football I ever watched in my 55+ years of watching the game.
Kinda like the Flutie Hail Mary play is actually called "55 Flood trips". This play was actually called 11 slot right "Circus". It got the name circus because it never once worked in practice for two years and usually resulted in a giant cluster!
I’ve been a Boise State fan since 1999 because they played how they wanted. Didn’t matter who they played, down by 20, up by 20, if they wanted to run a trick play they did. If they wanted to try out a new scheme they did. Watching this game was pure BSU football. Many commentators said “they scraped the bottom of the barrel or really dug deep into their bag of tricks,” NO they didn’t. It was pure guts and glory BSU football that love the game, physical and mental!
I remember watching the end of the world cup final game a while back -- the best teams in the world, right? Anyway, no one scored during the entire game -- the game was finally won by whatever you call it when they kick the ball at the goalie until someone FINALLY scores. Yeah, great and exciting sport soccer (oops, "football") is.
Yeah, its a shame that the rest of the world is so poor that they can only afford a sport whose sole requirement is a round ball. Its a good thing America also defends you all with its military or you couldn't even afford that...

Greatest game ever! Jared Zabranski and my nephew were friends growing up in my home town. Was great watching Z in high school.
Who are all of these american football haters watching this video lol.
They are taking the title too literally.
I'm starting to think American Football is the greatest game to watch. Incredibly athletic. Spectacular. Excellent refereeing.

"Errrr herp derp this didn't shock the world duuuhhh nobody cares only America *drools*"
Great, trolls, we got it. Now go watch tiny men run around a soccer field for 90 minutes and pray that a single point is scored. True excitement.
***** One goal is worth one point. Herp derp.
***** How many points is rolling around in the ground for 5 minutes when someone looks at you worth?
kid, rugby > american football anytime
Anurag Markandu Kid, this is an American football video.
***** Rugby players are men.
The greatest 4th quarter in football history
And the world hasn’t recovered since.
Absolutely best football I ever watched in my 55+ years of watching the game.
the first one is not called circus, it's called "hook and ladder"
If this team calls it Circus, it is called Circus...
that's like saying if a team calls a QB sneak hamburger, then its hamburger, no dip its not
No lol, the key action occurring during the PLAY "circus" is a Hook and Ladder, in the playbook and its referred to technical name is Circus.
American football is so cool!! soccer is Crap
+Cheche Chebereche Why do you hate on a bunch of guys trying to get flags called on other guys.
Why did somebody flip the football players off?
The Pop the Question Play at the end of the game was also good. This was one of the greatest games ever played.

This ones an email sorry!
They didn't shock the world because there is only 2 countries that play football America and Canada
This is true. What would really shock the world is if a soccer match didn't end 0-0.
Yeah, its a shame that the rest of the world is so poor that they can only afford a sport whose sole requirement is a round ball. Its a good thing America also defends you all with its military or you couldn't even afford that...
30+ countries have football leagues, including, japan, united kingdom, france, germany, china
I love college football, but I get bored when it's always the same teams that make big plays. That's why this game was such a breath of fresh air for me!
Only thing that sucked about this game is Boise State didn't get to play another one in pursuit of a title. Bowl system sucks.
This leads to the Chaos in College Football in 2007
