For example, when Alabama scores, Eli Gold will say something like, "chalk one up for the good guys" and leave it at that. This is what I call fun content. Tennessee vs Georgia was glorious. Watching it live you could see them shutting down everything in the stadium as soon as it happened. The scoreboard was the first to go.
Or the '94 Auburn TD to Sanders. Or Otis Boggs' (or was it David Steele?) call in '80 when Lindsay Scott went 93 yards. On the other side, LSU's announcers when Florida stopped them at the 1 in '16, or Vols' announcers when Franks hit Cleveland on the last play in '17.

@@bstove24 That's the point they are making. The fact that UGA is a good team yet blows it year after year, especially against Alabama is worse than being an outright bad team. When you're a fan of a top team, you have hope, only for it to be crushed when you don't win the biggest game of the year.
@@bstove24 yeah, Georgia is usually a good team. The one against Auburn was the week before Auburn ran back the field goal attempt against Alabama. Auburn had back to back miracle wins like that that season. The call against Alabama was in the 2018 National Championship Game (2017 season). They could have just as well played the end of the 2012 SEC Championship between Georgia and Alabama and the 2018 one as well. All three of those games came down to the very end. The Tennessee bomb was right after UGA had scored to go ahead with 6 seconds left. UGA squibbed the kickoff or onside kicked for some reason and something went wrong. One play from scrimmage. I think that was Kirby’s first season? I think we lost 4 that year.
@@bstove24 “better than being a Vanderbilt fan.” Yeah, but fans don’t see it that way. On January 1, 1981, Georgia got extremely lucky and recovered two mishandled kicks inside Notre Dame’s 5 yard line which set up two easy Walker touchdowns and wound up with more points on the scoreboard than the team that beat the ever living dog doodoo out of us that night. I saw both of those Auburn games. Two of the most incredible endings I've ever seen. Is there no Michigan video of Colorado's Kordell Stewart's Hail Mary against them? Or Miami footage of BC's Doug Flutie's game winner in the Orange Bowl? (Side note: Michigan seems to be on the wrong end of a lot of these plays for some reason...)
If you do a Part 2, Bob Ufer of "Meecheegan" and his call of Harry Oliver's 51-yard field goal by Notre Dame vs. Michigan in 1980. The audio is out there, and so is the video. It took poor Bob three tries to get the final score correct.
Best part about last clip was the UGA announcers saying that the 15 yard celebration penalty won’t hurt them. Wish you included their long TD before the Hail Mary.
If you can find the commentator for the Baylor UNLV game in 1999, I’m sure you’d have a gem of play there. Baylor was up with seconds left and only needed to kneel. Instead, they ran the ball, fumbled it, and UNLV took it back to win. Newspaper the next day was titled “Unbelievable”
This is why commentators are much better than announcers. Just call the damn game without putting your "my team is losing" vibes into it. These are some great plays, and most of the announcers lost the plot and couldn't even say what was happening. 3:22 is the best, because you couldn't even tell which team he supports until the last few seconds.

Oh man, the UGA announcers had a great line after the Dobb Nail Boot that wasn't included. "That's a kick to the gut and other parts of the anatomy."
The Tulane announcer was actually really good. High energy even though they threw the pick six in overtime.
As a Nebraska fan, seeing so many crazy Nebraska wins reminds me of all the crazy losses we have had
It seemed like about half of the clips featured either Nebraska or Georgia.
Alabama's was so professional with it and called it as he saw it, didn't say "no no no" or anything, I like the professionalism in that, but I do love to here the "no no no"'s 😂
Eli Gold is a treasure.
Eli gold is a true professional. Used to do nascar as well
He was butt hurt inside lol
As an Auburn fan, I have nothing but disdain for Alabama football but love Saban and Gold. Class acts in their own right and great ambassadors for the SEC
I'm an Ole Miss fan and when we play Alabama i listen to Eli call it, he's seriously one of the best in the country
3:09 Buddy was so excited he hugged the ref 😂
Most unbiased: Eli Gold and Tulane. Most biased: Georgia and it's not even close
Sounds like you have just hatred for Georgia. I have no feelings for Georgia one way or the other but theirs wasn’t much different than the rest of these. Most of these are obviously homers for their team….as they are suppose to be!
@@astros7242 is this a reply to me or the other guy? I have absolutely no dislike of Georgia. I was just stating a fact. It sounds like you’re getting incredibly defensive over nothing.
@@astros7242 Bruh the Georgia announcer was literally making fun of Tua’s last name after a Georgia sack when he had pronounced it perfectly literal seconds before. How is that not huge bias?
It's that team's announcer. They should be biased for their respective teams.
@@MrBenHart You can be biased without being disrespectful toward the opposing team and fanbase. For example, when Alabama scores, Eli Gold will say something like, "chalk one up for the good guys" and leave it at that. He doesn't demean the other team and he doesn't hold Alabama up on some mythical, unrealistic pedestal that would cause opposing fans turn off the radio. Georgia broadcasters on the other hand, try so hard to be the next Larry Munson that they just come off sounding like massive pricks to everyone else! I'm not sure how Georgia fans don't consider the broadcast team to be an embarrassment.
Cal-Berkeley beating Stanford with seven laterals (John Elway's final college game) in 1982 has still not lost ANY of it's magic.
"The band is on the field!"
Growing up listening to FSU games, I already knew Gene Deckerhoff was a standup announcer. Listening to these other guys helps with that appreciation. He was always so professional and made it sound exciting even when FSU lost. Miss him this year, wish he could’ve stayed with FSU.
I have so much admiration for radio announcers when they call the games. So much happens in a short time, plus they gotta stay on top of the players' names and statistics.
Georgia announcer: *botches Tua’s name* “I’ll just call him ‘Tongue Tied.’”
~3 seconds later~
Georgia announcer: “Oh my god, Alabama wins…”
If that’s not the epitome of eating shit, I don’t know what is, and I’m an LSU fan 😂
Yeah, he better learn that guy's name.
We all could use more of Georgia’s “maybe next year” calls lol. Roll Tide my friends!
I despise Alabama, but that was fantastic and we'll deserved!

I’ll never understand why people can’t pronounce names. It’s not hard to say, it’s hard to spell

Tennessee vs Georgia was glorious. Watching it live you could see them shutting down everything in the stadium as soon as it happened. The scoreboard was the first to go.
And then it’s been a dumpster fire ever since

"However Cal thinks that they have a touchdown. They took it all the way in the end zone." Yeah, that's how touchdowns work.

Lol.
Great job by Eli. You can hear the disappointment and disbelief in his voice but he still called the game accurately
Eli's been doing it since the 70s. True pro and severely underrated.
I can't agree with you. Eli is a typical homer. Best announcer (any sport at any level) that I have ever heard was the late Dan Kelly. He did the St Louis Blues (NHL).
@@jrousselle7828All announcers that do radio are homers cause they can be. FYI I hate Eli Gold

having been in the booth having to call a lose like this, i can tell you its as heartbreaking as it sounds. You put so much into it and then you have to say your team lost, you cant turn off the tv, log off, nothing, you are stuck having to recap the heartbreak.
Going into my 2nd year of radio broadcasting and love these calls! This season I'll actually have a first radio job and will actually be with a high school team this season. Hopefully I don't end up in the high school version of this! Great video!
Just remember to call the game and not get too caught up emotionally. Yeah you're working for a certain team, but not describing the action does the listeners who depend on you a giant disservice.

The Georgia bulldogs announcer: Pain, pure pain
That's how it feels to be a Georgia fan...nothing but gut punching, heart wrenching pain. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
@@briandonegan8480 Aren't the Bulldogs usually a good team though? I mean it would be better than being a vanderbilt fan.
@@bstove24 “better than being a Vanderbilt fan.”
Yeah, but fans don’t see it that way. On January 1, 1981, Georgia got extremely lucky and recovered two mishandled kicks inside Notre Dame’s 5 yard line which set up two easy Walker touchdowns and wound up with more points on the scoreboard than the team that beat the ever living dog doodoo out of us that night. So Georgia fans now think we are supposed to be elite and play in the national championship game every season.
5:39: Best line I've ever heard from any announcer of any sport.
Respect for the FSU announcer vs GT. Called it with excitement that they play deserved and no shade
FSU's announcer is the great Gene Deckerhoff
It's weird hearing alternate commentary from the ending of Cal vs. Stanford. Anything other than the legendary call of "THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD" feels weird.

Ttu texas 2008?
Utah fans rushing the field three times at the end of the game vs. BYU in 2012
@@MichterPianopunster16 Exactly my thoughts. TTU - Texas, 2008. Rushed the field after Crabtree's TD when there was still a second left. Rushed AGAIN after the extra point when no time had been taken off the clock. Crowd was informed that if they rush the field a third time before the game is actually considered over, it would be a forfeit and TTU would lose the most iconic game in its history. I was a student there at the time, but wasn't at that game. Will say, we were always known to be horrible fans to our own team/stadium, lol.
3:10 "The Mascot is on the field! The Mascot is on the field!" would have been a great call. Highlight videos are always amazing the time it takes to put them together.

When Eli Gold said he couldn’t see any flags possibly because of all the people, that was funny and sad at the same time.
5:47 I honestly believe that was NOT a touchdown. It seems to me the ball touches out of bounds before touching the pylon.
Conversion...
