The hook and lateral and Statue of Liberty play calls by Petersen are absolutely legendary. The execution of the plays are flawless.
Confirmed
That hook-and-lateral is still one of the craziest things I have ever seen, even all this time later.
I also love how the Oklahoma girls they show after that play just decide to switch teams lol
Yee
Isn’t it “hook ‘n ladder?”
The most significant college football game played to date. If OU had won in the end, no one would have thought anything of even the close game. But BSU winning in the end, with an undefeated season record, while the national championship game was contested by Ohio State and a one loss team (which Ohio State lost, leaving BSU as the only undefeated team in the nation) made significant change in the BCS possible, and I'm still entirely convinced that without this game, we would still have the BCS to this day.
The quote by the commentator for the extra point by Boise State has lived with me from the moment he said it: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog"
The quote was used excessively because of some awful movie made around that time. lol
We always ran that same exact play when we were in high school, we called it The Boise. Boise was such a fun team to watch back in the day because they always had some crazy ass play up their sleeve if they needed to use it.
Absolutely one of the best college games ever played! Special Kudos to the OC's of Boise State....most college teams today freeze in the red zone trying NOT to win the game and foolishly do what all of America knows what they'll do next e.g. run it up the middle on 1st and 2nd downs, leaving the in impossible 3rd down situations and settle for the field goal. THIS is what great play calling looks like when when you want to win the game!!!!
Hook and ladder: 11:46
HB pass: 13:12
Statue of Liberty: 13:40
Thank you for using “hook and ladder” as opposed to lateral. Apparently not many folks know the name of the play. To be fair, it should obviously be lateral but…you know.. silliness exists.
Has got to be the greatest college football game ever played!
I wish this game had happened a few years later, once the internet and social media really took over. Boise State's 3 plays that won this game were legitimately the 3 most exciting moments I've ever seen in sports and I have no attachment to Boise lmao
One of the greatest college games I've ever seen. I get chills every time I see it!
Insane season for Boise
Straight up
Can you imagine being a fan at this game, jeez what a roller coaster of emotion…
I believe this was the start of the wildness that the 2007 season would be
@@RadicallyOptimistic Yeah, I watched that video, if Dixon doesn't get injured, you win the BCS
Yes it sure was
This was after the Chris Benoit Incident
Crazy how many points were scored in the last 90 seconds of regulation alone….🤯
On mammas
Here's the shitty thing: we have a playoff now and the committee would still have put in 2 SEC teams before Boise St.
And deservingly so. Bama had mad injuries and still toyed around with Cincy and look at TCU vs. UGA…. It was a blood bath. All these types of games show is that no power 5 teams/lower level teams can upset a good team once in a blue moon. Play 2 in row and it’s not gonna work, play a seasons worth and they’ll end up 8-4. All this game shows is why without Florida St’s starting QB they made the right call not putting them into the playoffs this past year. Granted there were about 7 teams better than FSU even if they did have their starting QB.
Watched this game on TV. It was thrilling then and is still a thrill to watch this. The game of a lifetime. THE BEST!!!
This is one of the greatest bowl games of all time
Yee
What a game this was
I remembered this game like yesterday the whole 2007 football season was something special 💯🏈💪🏿
The year Nick Saban came to town...
I remember breaking my leg this year and watching is in the hospital. Never played football again.... great game though!
Waiting for Louisville and Clemson 2016
Greatest Fiesta Bowl I ever seen.
My question is... Who was watching this game live and expected Boise State to win?
Me
I actually did. Watched it live and thought Boise could win that game. I don't really caught up in power 5 myth. Any team can lose on any given Saturday
Me it was so crazy
I did. Watched it live and was convinced about halfway through that BS could win. By the end of regulation, I KNEW they were gonna win.
Yee , I was on my couch that day in 2007
Three Days before the BIGGEST, and MOST POWERFUL HIRES in College Football's History for Generations to come. The Hiring of the GOAT Nick Saban. Just Seven/Eight Months before the CRAZIEST College Football Season (2007) in recent memory.
epic game. Still one of my favorites.
Woah! What a game, I actually never watched the highlights from this before. Thank you
Texas Texas Tech Crabtree game!!!
I love this game
Loved this Boise team so much
Definitely a “Whoa Nellie!” Game!!!!
Legendary plays aside (hook and lateral/Statue of Liberty!!!) Does anybody remember the Boise State player proposing to his cheerleader girlfriend at the end - it was like a movie haha this is why I love college football
i was there. it was everything.
Best game of all time
Love college football
This was the only football game I ever saw that was exciting to me.
BEST
GAME
EVER
🤯😃💪
this was number 1 easily
2007 best year ever
💙💙💙
Sooners vs Gators National Championship or anything with Sam Bradford or Jason White on it
Second greatest game ever
Behind only Cal-Stanford
Adrian Peterson when he played for the team, not for for himself.
Oklahoma should've a choking sign hung up in their locker room
Where’s the marriage proposal?
Is 28 Adrian Peterson or did he get drafted that year plz let me know
It's him
Fox needs to rehire Thom Brannaman. Only Gus Johnson is on the same level of him as a broadcaster!!! People make mistakes...he's done his time.
The greatest football game, at any level, I’ve ever seen. And I’m not a Boise State or Oklahoma fan, I’m from Maryland, home of the old Colts and the current Ravens. And I still think this is the best damn football game ever played. I’ve rewatched it several times, and each time I can’t really believe Boise is going to pull it out, AND make it feel 100% earned. Not a bunch of fluke plays, just one fine set of calls and performances. Bravo.
Americans, we don’t care if “our” team played their hearts out in an all time great game if they didn’t win, we can find no joy in it. That’s a shame.
Thompson should have been benched.
Ughhhhh
Big game bob poops....sucked in the biggest games.
Thompson sucked. Why wasnt Bradford playing? Why were they just not feeding Adrian Peterson the rock. Wtf was Stoops on? Crazy playcalling lost OU the game. Insane they even were in the game.
One of the most rigged games in history.
What how
