hello!!! first upload of 2023
Maybe it's maturing or something, but seeing people do well is nice for me. A "oh good someone is doing ok, genuinely happy for them" way. My Therapist says it's healthy to surround the self with happy people, peers influence peers, wonder if a similar effect happens on UA-cam even on a parasocial way
LOVe hearing this. so cute
"The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best" - Epictetus
"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of Reason which today arm you against the Present". - Marcus Aurelius
i’ve definitely learned about myself this month especially since i had a lot of reflection during winter break on how i want to improve myself
I just got back from my walk & this was freshly posted, wooo! Doing less is big for me this year too! I know that leaving time open for myself makes me feel like a human being and not a robot. There's more to life than tasks! Also, I love the podcast. I really enjoyed the audience input and how you interacted with it. This month has been pretty good to me tbh. Wishing u an awesome year!
THANK U SB!!!
love checking in on girly for the growth and vibess 🪴🏙️🌄

Your (3) things to do list is a great idea! I'd like to share one of my personal motto's that I use to help myself with "runaway to-do lists". Manageable Milestones & Quantifiable Progress This helps me remind myself if I'm getting overwhelmed to break down my milestones into manageable steps ; but not so small of steps that they don't have any real meaning (i.e. *Pick up pencil, *turn page, etc).
runaway to-do lists is so real
I love this series because of how calming it is
Knowing someone's handwriting is so intimate 😊
AGREEEEED
The queen of Seattle is back!! I feel like you’re living my absolute dream rn (quitting your job, living for YOU!!).
Also the to-do list is great! I’ve been struggling with my never-ending to-do lists, and I’ve really gotta try doing “less” to get more done.
Gr8 vid bestie!!! 🥰
thank you pal
i feel like i never see cursive anymore and yours is so beautiful!
edit: lol! i posted this comment at the very beginning with the list writing, so funny we had the same train of thought on it too!
I love the three things strategy. The creator who came up with this method has so many good life organization tips!
I live in New England and I always thought about moving out to the North West. Seattle or Oregon has that fall like feel I really love.
Oh man the constant mystery and surprise of communal laundry! I’ll never get over it
Also I immediately want a cutie little kitchen whiteboard even though I already have/use multiple vehicles for my to do lists hahahaha I must attempt the limit of threes!
@@tiffanyferg the number of vehicles for to-do lists is ever growing and expanding in my life but i do not think it hurts....
This year, without really thinking about it, I stopped writing to do lists and have been going about my day intuitively. I know what i need to get done and take my time doing them. This may not be feasible for the rest of the year as tasks increase, so maybe I'll implement this three things strategy. But so far, this feels much less stressful. I also like what you said about additional items being "bonus" tasks because you're absolutely right - it feels deflating when I only get 8 out of 12 things done on the list, so might as well write three and then add as needed.
That’s funny! It’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I used to never start a day without a to do list but at the end of last year I was feeling very burnt out and naturally I got into a kind of hibernation mode and stopped making lists. Now, I do what I want to do in each moment and somehow I’m managing very well. I’m sure I will go back to lists but at the moment I’m really enjoying my listless life!
This year I want to do more things that bring genuine joy. I feel like for the past 3 years I have been partaking in hobbies that were not mine, but rather, someone else’s i.e friends and/or partners. I also want to learn how to truly slow down and allow myself to rest without feeling guilty. I love your “three things” list because it seems feasible and less overwhelming. :)
a good rule for joyful living is if it's not a hell yes it's a hell no!
This felt like I was catching up with a friend for the first time in the near year :)
I unintentionally also implemented 3 things. I allowed myself to wfh today and slowly work through my list, both personal and work tasks, guilt-free.
CUTE lil catch up. guilt free living baybee!!
10/10 vibes in this. Making me highly reconsider using copyright music in videos!!
THANK YEW MAMAAAAA the perfect balance is if you can find unreleased music from artists you like that isn't licensed but it's rare to come across. that's what these were!
Kath you are stellar. I’ve been thinking about the taking my time aspect a lot too! Like honestly why would I rush folding my laundry. It’s one of those chores I tend to put off, but folding laundry at warp speed makes me want to do it even less, ya know? Also great music choice ✨
SOOOO TRUE i'm very anti-warp speed it sucks the fun out of everything. thank you my dear!
From what I can surmise from your Vlogs - you have created some really nice, comfortable, and creative spaces in your apartment. Not too sure if most people actually appreciate the fact that the places we live in and constantly look at are quite vital and important to our basic level of happiness and overall health. Homes are just boxes to live in until we make them an extension of us. Good architecture and design are, IMHO, almost as important as oxygen for our overall level of health. Bottom line - nice job!
Welcome back Miss Katherine. January has been okay, im trying to get things back together again though and im trying to be more positive and healthy, but it has been hard and difficult forsure!
loved reading your update and relate a ton!
Love the vids.
watching ur videos is really therapeutic since I’m in a position where I can’t financially be stable if I leave my job but I’m going through similar thoughts about corporate America ❤ love your content
❤❤❤
ugh LOVE the music you use in your videos
unreleased indie music is top tier YT music but so hard to find...
berry is such a fun last name to have.
i have to agree!
Here to compliment the editing !! Will also try the 3 things method now; I hope it changes my life
thank u alexis 😇
2023 January
how this month has been treating me so far
mMM it's been a rollercoaster
a lot of downs, but also a lot of ups!
there will be rough days, but they sorta need to happen for the good days to happen
so might as well try and have FUN regardless, riiight 😬😁
things always work out in the end !!
but of course I'm not gonna lie about all the mornings, afternoons, nights, and days that I did spend crying 🤣
well
I just got laid off end of November 2022
(which IS FINE, because I was planning to resign anyway 🤷🏻♀️)
and then a busy December that I didn't expect
so this month has been about "getting back up on my feet"
and finding myself again and figuring out who I am and wanna be right now
✨💖 let's not be too hard on ourselves, Kath
there's always another day ahead of us
💖✨
Thoughts. while watching the vlog
• about it taking so long to find what you really wanna do for a job
I think one of the biggest problems is that most educational systems don't give you any idea at all of what jobs really are out there
so we end up really scrambling around in our 20s
but then society also pressures us to just go-go-go and find THAT job already
and it's like??
what do you want from me 😭😭
we're really only given a minuscule idea of the easiest jobs there are to explain
I feel like
• I'm so curious as to why your mom would specifically hang it up INSIDE the first cabinet, instead of on the wall or something
a very cute and unique and homey thing to do/have 💖
•✨💖 "the light is coming to bring back everything the darkness stole" 💖✨
• ✨💖 KATH POWER 💖✨
• I honestly would have still checked the laundry off because
if I were in your shoes
I TRIED
and it just so happened that something interrupted me that wasn't necessarily within my control
and it's literally just one thing left, so 🤷🏻♀️
it's okay, Kath
• you don't have to be crying to shaaare
share whatever you wanna share 💖
• about "happy vlogs"
actually
yeah
there have been times when I would purposely put off watching a video I saw that's something like "2023 reset"
or those AD house tours
because I do get a little jealous
but more of a little SAD inside about
myself not reaching my dreams or --whatever-it-is-- yet
you know, and it isn't that I'm not happy for those people
I AM
but as a random consumer, I just have the choice to decide to watch it later instead
(and I do go watch them later when I'm not being so in myself !!)
and honestly
that says more about me
and society
than whoever posted/shared OBVIOUSLY
tho, I wouldn't say I would be more likely to watch something if the thumbnail was of someone crying 🤣🤣
BUT HEY, I did watch your Seattle sophomore vlog !!
and I do remember watching those bike ride clips over and over in awe ✨💖
• handwriting
that's so true 🤣
I have friends that
I've never seen their handwriting and vice versa
so interesting
Girl, WHERE is this woodworking class you speak of. I'm in the Seattle area, and It's on my new year's goals list!
there are a few thru the community colleges!! i can’t recommend this one yet but i will let you know….
@@Katherout ahhhh, gotcha, thank you!
"not in a relationship" The only salient point in this video.
As someone who used to be in the tech industry I’d love to hear your thoughts on all the recent layoffs!! I think you’d provide some really great insights
i don't have too many thoughts other than it sucks to lose your job especially when these companies are making insane-o profits every year! and that the linkedin posts i've been sent around the layoffs have been disturbing
THREE THINGS! (aka. three thoughts on this video and your stuff in general)
1. I love your arc in the last year or so. You haven't given up your political ideas, BUT you carry them so much more happily now. Not as afraid to under-achieve at being an under-achiever, and also making space to genuinely enjoy the many moment of magic in life without circling-back to a realization about some form of injustice. Not letting guilt rule your mind, and I love that for you!
2. You've posted a few videos now where the thumbnail/title combo made me think the video would be sad but it wasn't. I assume it's because of your statement about people clicking on videos where they think you'll dish on something sad, but still, be careful not to let that expectation of misery on others' parts dictate your feelings. I speak from experience on that.
3. That is the most surreal description of Danny Trejo I've ever heard and it was marvelous.
thank you alan! yeah i seem to be stuck in the melancholy title/thumbnail combo!!!
Hello! Have you done an update on your TED? Curious how you are managing it and if you've already updated, can you link it here? Thanks so much!
I was literally thinking yesterday that I was looking forward to your next video! Then I am blessed with it the next morning!
I enjoy hearing your thoughts as much as feelings. I think a lot of the time as a society we don't realise how similarly we all think, and hearing people share makes me feel validated that other people have similar thoughts. It's the same as with feelings really.
Also your handwriting is gorgeous! It's how i wish to write (and try very hard to)
this was so comforting to read! it always surprises me when people are on similar wavelengths. this handwriting is born out of journaling incessantly hehehe
"with my laptop...?? With my LAPTOP?"
HAHAHAHHAH i had to keep that in glad you appreciated it
i too live in seattle! Where do you do the wood working class? I have been trying to find one!
i sugget north seattle college / central college! there are also some independent woodworking studios but everything has a longggg waitlist.
I am developing a Spotify list of songs on your videos that I like and it's finally getting big enough to get me through the whole commute:)
OMGGGG this warms my heart
@@Katherout i always look forward to the songs you choose :) thankfully I only go in 3 days a week and it's about a 30 min trip. So a decent number of songs!
am so curious about which youtubers you subscribe to & watch on a regular basis … perhaps a future video idea/response in a q&a (?)
ps LOVE the 3 things in a to do list idea
5:49 - can confirm, Kath is capable. :)
Three things is too much for our Seattle to do lists okayyy 😅
hahahahha

Can you share about your journey not being mentally ill anymore?
After 8 months of talk therapy and anti-depressants I’m finally in a good place but it can also be a little bizarre because sadness is all I knew for a long time and stability is this new normal.
that was such an odd inflection point in my treatment! like am i feeling abnormally good or is it ok to be happy again??? i'm timid to make a definitive video about not being mentally ill anymore because it very well may come back like my acne
@@Katherout I feel this. That’s another weird part about it. wanting to celebrate but then having fear and conjuring up grace if it comes back
Point given for mentioning Below Deck
OK THANK UUUUUUU
Great vid 💗 great vibes 🎧 love your song choices as always 🎸
Are you still considering learning to DJ? 😊
i ABSOLUTELY am and it's on my list this week to start researching!
@@Katherout yessss 🔥🔥
how do you find people who open ur circle to you… i’ve always been the connector but most of my individual connections stay that way and in a place where i now have a good few individual relationships, it hurts not having them welcome me to their groups
some folks REALLLYYYY do not like combining their friends so you may not be missing out! you're doing everything right if you're already the connector. modeling that behavior is powerful and i do believe folks that see the value in it will follow suit
Everyone must choose one of two pains: The pain of discipline, or the pain of regret.
"Don't explain your philosophy. Embody it" - Epictetus
"The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best" - Epictetus
Maturity is:
learning to walk away from people and situations that threaten your piece of mind, self respect, morals, principles, values and self worth.

keeping it cute
I am trying to redo things. I am going back to school. I am planning my refinancing to see if I can do it. Most likely I will be going to trade school for HVAC or IT.
we love learning!!!
Ugh....yeah. I so understand the laundry frustration. Got a shared laundry in our appartment house (word is my friend, absolutely! *cough*) as well, and sometimes the frustrations that go along with it - while most people in our building knows the written and unwritten rules and regulations that comes with it - weell it ain't always followed depending on the moods of the ones currently using it. Thanks for oversharing tho'! Always find your trail of thought comprehensive and calming - in that I ain't alone in similar thought processes.
And the board made me snicker - one can absolutely tell when a person has been working in tech, testing or support when that method gets implemented in the daily life (Ie. KISS (Keep it simple stupid) and a semiagile version of RUP) 🤣😇
THANK YOU!!!! i do love systems it's true
Why so close to full screen but not?
Have you ever looked into relationship anarchy? It’s so radical and beautiful. And you say a lot of things that tie into it as a concept, so you might like it!
yes i am familiar but haven't done any explicit reading!!! i definitely don't want hierarchical relationships in my life and do not fuck w the relationship escalator. would love lots of queer little boundary-less relationships in my life that take the form they're meant to!
Stitches by shawn mendes hahahahah
also i really like the three things idea. i might try it
it happened and their music taste continues to surprise and delight
I love Larry David I actually met him when I worked in the hospital in New Jersey. Fun fact he eat his cereal with yogurt instead of milk.😂
king of my heart
bring back handwriting era
overthinking and reinventing are just what We humans do... You, young Lady should never be embarrassed, especially a Woman of your stoic mindset. You share pretty much Everything with people worldwide, and I have yet to hear you complain.
Helluva' Woman You are... keep pushin' on.
thank you lair sam 🙏
@@Katherout You... are quite welcome. You may know me better by my other gmail/google account name "eltorocal"... I have no idea how I logged into my "onion/Tor" account, but.. well, anyway. See you on your next video post... You are truly a breath of fresh air.
Can everyone please listen to the song Heaven Sent by Dokken and let me know what they think? Also, their name is pronounced like Dock-in. Thanks
Have a listen to "Surrounded" by Dream Theater - Images and Words: Live in Tokyo 1993
...also, "Take The Time"... they are (were) such a great band... but after M. Portnoy left, things went REAL heavy, and Dark.
"The Winery Dogs" are cool... Portnoy's other band
@@lairsam330 Thank you for the suggestions. I love music. What did you think of my song?
@@chloepayne2503 Is that one of your favorite songs? Favorite from Dokken?
I'm a 60's kid... in fact, I just turned 60 last Tuesday... the 17th. I grew up listening to Steppenwolf (For Lady's Only... Monster... Magic Carpet Ride...), Blood, Sweat and Tears, The Grass Roots (Midnight Confessions), Emerson, Lake and Palmer (Lucky Man, Still... You Turn Me On) and The Allan Parsons Project. I could talk with you for days and turn you on to bands, their songs and Lyrics that would change everything you thought you loved about the music you are sharing with me now. Dokken was influenced by FREE (Paul Rogers - Bad Company), Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin (The Battle Of Evermore, Thank You, Over The Hills And Far Away), Sweet (Ballroom Blitz, Love Is Like Oxygen), T. Rex - Mark Bolin (Bang A Gong... Get It On), Boston (Let Me Take You Home Tonight, Somethin' About You, Don't Be Afraid, Used To Bad News), and plenty of others.
Have a listen to some old ELO (Jeff Lynn's Electric Light Orchestra), or ZEBRA, a Louisiana band from the late 70's into the early 80's... fabulous music. Nuno Bettencourt from his band Extreme, or Bela Fleck... I think you will really like them. But most of all, listen to EVERYTHING from Cat Stevens.
Take care young Lady... I sure hope you get into some of these bands, though Old, they have been quite the influence on a lot of what You are listening to today.
Do you nail your wall art to your wall?
i do indeeeed
• You looks so adorable/sexy in a high ponytail jeezzz
• the music here just *chefs kiss* (per usual)
• thank you for the upload, it’s bananas how much so much of the main things you said resonate with my recent mental/physical journey
omg thank you....
Super interesting person.. super interesting vlog (making usually mundane things seem not so mundane) also I found your video researching hyperthyroidism.. how is it now? Think I might have it.. loss weight significantly in a short period of time .. God bless and Jesus loves you also if you’d rather not talk about it I get that
