Can I get this Abandoned Blazer found in the Woods to start?

- Hello everyone,
In the first of my American Adventures I stumble upon a car, seemingly abandoned in the woodlands of North Carolina.
My obvious reaction is - will it start?
A video featuring:

“If they didn’t want me in the car they would’ve of locked it ,right?”
Walks in to strangers *unlocked* home
Gives that excuse in court 😂
Pretty sure it'll hold up 😂
Thins are different in the UK (=
Oh yeah, more tea over here too.
Logic isn't always welcome in the courts here lol.
That's a scary thought.
👍😂😂😂 I was waiting for 3 things in this video....1. "HEY BOY!!" 2. The click of a Rifle loading and 3. The sound of Dueling Banjo's........I did not expect it to start though!!!!
I would have probally died if a rifle had been involved 😂.
I wasn't expecting it to start that easily. I thought I'd have to fight for it 😂
@@lmm Me too, I expected a few turns of the key / coin!!...not instant like it did. Were you taking the piss when you made out that you'd never heard of a Chevy Blazer?
@@graemew7001 Very surprised indeed good old car. Genuinely not something I've ever really come across before 😂
@@lmm Yeah I keep forgetting that you're way younger than me lol
I'm a strange mix of old and young - today I'm mucking about with a vintage locomotive again 😂
Who was more excited to see the engine started 😂
I mean, I was pretty excited. I thought it was going to be a challenge to fire it up!
@Zombie ZH himer It's not stolen.
@Zombie ZH himer They wouldn't have been interested. Trust me on that.
@Zombie ZH himer Currently I'm in Suffolk, England.
I find the concept of the conversation with your father rather entertaining.
I found a car
Where?
On my friends land
Does he know its there?
Yes
Does he know who owns it?
Yes, is there a problem?
Well no.
Well, that was entertaining.
I told you he wouldn't be interested - but share the video anyway!
@Zombie ZH himer I didn't know anything about it. I went for an explore on my first day and came across the car, and immediately shot the video. I mean, you have watched it the whole way through right?
It's pretty obvious.
in today's video, Lawrie discovers side post batteries!
I'm with Lawrie, I don't understand the point of side post batteries. They remind me of the awful battery connectors that Ford in the UK used to use that would allow one electron at a time through, if they turned sideways and breathed in rather a lot. Not really ideal for starting anything, and particularly not an older Ford which were not generally the best starters anyway...
Just why?
I'd never seen them before. Seems daft to me.
@@lmm It does stop people welding their bonnet to an over-size battery though. 'Cos America, where the government assumes everyone else has a lower IQ than their politicians. Being politicians, they forget that even an amoeba has a higher IQ...
@@gosportjamie That is actually a very good point. No more shorting out on the 'hood'
@@lmm Not really, people being people they still find ways to stuff over-size batteries of the wrong type in their vehicles and then welding them to the hood...
I swear I can see someones house and back garden for most of this video just ever so slightly in the distance.
There was a seamingly abandoned outbuilding nearby.
I saw it too
Yeah it’s all fake
"I've actually been in things which are a lot worse"
It would seem we date the same women!
😂 😂 😂 You sir have set the bar for best reply yet!
Cleaner than my ex!
Brilliant 😂😂
Fucking Savage
I have just discovered your channel and am bracing my self to watch every single episode you've ever created. Your production quality is unmatched and the type of content is just right. I love it, just thought I'd share that with you

Looks like an early 90s blazer with a 4.3 v6
Its a square body with the old front end so i would believe that is an 87 blazer
@@finaldrivetv3669 4 Doors weren't introduced till the '91 model year.
Damn fuel pressure regulators are INSIDE the intake. I bought a non running 94 Sonoma. Replaced spider, nut kit, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, starter...aaaand then it had a knock once warmed up.
In 1993-94 is the last of the square bodies before they went to the more Rounded smoother body
Yes buddy
I love how you totally played it off at the end😂
Glad you enjoyed it 😂
OMG I just love his reaction to the battery connections being on the side of the battery LOL 😂. Also, I think it’s like that because if you ever have to jump start it, you can just connect jumper cables to those round metal things on top of the battery.
Idk what other people do but I’ve always clamped the jump
Leads to the top of the battery terminals on the top side e
Also, I think the threaded connections on the side of the battery are more reliable than the clamp-on things on the top, which often are hard to take off and put on correctly.
You doubled its value with that battery.
😂
Typical Chevy starting in half a second after sitting for years!
I really couldn't believe that it started!
Yep, back when Chevys were actually good vehicle's.
I was very impressed with this one!
Ha
@@lmm make an offer 😂😂😂
I died when at the sound he made when it actually started.
I was so excited.
We don't have them in the UK. Oh.. the car, I thought you were talking about woods for a moment.
We certainly don't do woods like they do in North Carolina!

He’s in the American South. If anybody cared that he was messing around, he would have had a shotgun barrel in his back! As far as I am concerned, he can collect every first generation S-10 Blazers he can find and take them all back to the UK!
Saabkyle04 would LOVE those!
I'm not sure if anyone would love them in their current condition 😂

@2017 Ford Escape S VIN 1FMCU0F72HUC91915 I never did look under it... maybe I should have?
The blazer/Jimmy was an awesome SUV. Reliable to the end. The 4.3 was a invincible motor. 2.8s were tough too
I hear very good things about them!
2.8 was a V6 not an I4.

Thank you for watching and subscribing!
I had a blazer like that too. And the dash was digital also. 4x4. Black. 4.3 V6. I miss it so much. Wish I would of kept it. But I'm stupid and sold it..
That was top of the line in the mid 90s the lt package
Was that the digital dash? I thought that was cool. Couldn't believe that or wanted to work either!
@@lmm Yes, supposedly the digital dashboard was quite rare. It also came in the S10 pickup but it was an optional extra on both and wasn't very common.
It's an awesome dash, it was my favourite thing about the truck!
@@rrai1999 That digital dashboard looks straight out of Knight Rider.
I love it
Ah, now that's some good fun right there! For the record, I don't believe that many old American cars tend to start without issue after being abandoned for many years... you just got awful lucky! Though, seeing you delighted over this old truck reminds me of a location I think you'd rather enjoy... There was this fellow who presumably had some cash on his hands, around the time that a lot of municipalities in some of the larger US cities were more than about ready to say goodbye to the last remains of their street railways (What to you would be electric tramways). By this time (1960s/1970s/1980s) very few cities still had electric surface railways (that is, rail lines within a city that operated on city streets, not below them in tunnels or above them on "elevated railway" girders and ironwork) in operation of any capacity. In fact, the only two locations I can think of with any sizable fleet of electric streetcars (The US equivalent of trams, we also more commonly like to call them "trolleys") were the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)'s routes in/around Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)'s "Green Line" and "Ashmont-Mattapan High Speed Line" in and around Boston, Massachusetts. By this time, both companies, and any other for that matter, was using aging equipment that was built between the mid 1940s and the early 1950s. They were all of a similar basic design, the President's Conference Committee, or "PCC" car. The trouble with American street railways, was that nothing was standard, both across and even within a particular system. Every line had a variety of different cars with different parts, all from various different makes. And it was very costly to keep these cars running, as they all required very specific parts for a given make and model. In addition, all of them looked for the most part very dated and ancient compared to the latest in automobiles and industrial design in general. With street railways on the decline in the US, they needed a more standard design to be agreed upon so that the street railways could maintain an image of modernization, while also reducing maintenance costs. Thus, the PCC car was created to give manufacturers a standard pattern that could be minorly adjusted for each line's specific requirements (For instance, Chicago PCCs were longer in length due to high traffic, combined with more clearance, which made larger ridership possible on a single car. Meanwhile, in Boston cars were shorter to fit around the sharp curves of the city streets, and were fitted with street-facing doors for use on certain routes. They also were fitted so that two or more cars could run in tandem from one operator). But these cars needed replacing. And so, this individual would go up to these companies with their large fleets of PCC cars ripe for retirement, and he would buy as many as he could, and ship them off to be stored in a location in Windber, Pennsylvania, where they were all lined up in an old railway yard where normally streetcars would never have so much as come near. Over time, more and more retired cars were dropped off at the site. It's said that he's made a buisness of using them for supplying parts to the secondhand PCC market, and there is some sort of company website in existence to back this up. Most of the cars are well rotted away, and gutted of parts by vandals as nearly all are exposed to the elements. But they make quite a site! This famous "Streetcar Graveyard" is a popular sight for photographers, but perhaps not the best place to purchase your next plaything. However, despite this, there are certainly some serviceable cars out there. My main interest is in the former Maintenance-of-Way (Permanent Way in UK I believe?) equipment from the MBTA. There are a few cars there that started life as passenger carrying vehicles, but were later rebuilt to better suit the important task of maintaining/repairing the street railway line. These cars generally have platforms on the roof for repair work on the overhead wire, and some have massive doors fitted on the sides for easy loading so that fill advantage can be taken of the storage space in the car for tools and material. Each car is unique or one of very few, rebuilt by the company that employed them. I have a deep fascination for the M.o.W. equipment of the street railway, and these are my favorite sort of equipment. Sadly, as they do not carry people, nor look very pretty to the general public, few such cars have survived being cut up for scrap. A shame considering the very important job they once performed!
Oh yes, I think we got exceedingly lucky.
It's a really nice idea the individual managed to save so many of the he trolleys and then such a shame that they have been allowed to rot away.
The converted trams for doing maintenance on the overhead powerlines are very interesting indeed!
That digital dash is rare as hell
The frustration with side post batteries is real! Most General Motors have them. Personally I hate them, but to each his own
Also, congrats on 17K!
Thanks you very much!
They're just weird. We have no experience with them over here!
Love the ending haha lobe the vids keep it going nice and funny
Glad you enjoyed it!
I genuinely laughed myself silly at your reactions to this thing, you're quite the excitable type it seems... :P
Maybe just a little bit. Glad you enjoyed it!
These are actually S-10 Blazers since they're based on the Chevy S-10 Pickup, these briefly were made in the UK in the late 90s but failed to impress and had lots of competition from BMW, Mercedes and even Jeep with the Cherokee XJ.
hey Lawrie appreciate ya. very chill content, thank you
Thank you very much - glad you're enjoying it!
Well it's been a year since the last time it ran. There are cars you can start that've been dumped into a forest after 20 years
I know lots of stories of diesels that do that, petrol engines are far less likely.
@@lmm After watching Mustie1's videos I'd expect a petrol engine refusing to start after 6 months with American petrol in the tank and carb! He always recommends running garden equipment dry before storing it away for winter!
I really wasn't expecting the thinf to go.
Thought it would need alot of mucking about with.
Clovis could very well be having his Hershey highway explored in the next video. Well, at least it'll make a change from knackered fire engines‼️🤣🤣🤣

We don't really have them in the UK, so I had no idea what I was dealing with 😂
Unless it is a new chevy. Those break down a lot. Head gaskets radiators AC compressors and transmissions. The new chevy is junk but the old ones were tanks since around 2006 the quality droped a lot.
They don't make them like they used to do they 😂
Wow that started quickly!
Amazingly so, I thought it would start but I was expecting a fight!
My wife used to have a blazer and I distinctly remember starting the engine without the key once
😂 😂 Brilliant
It's a Chevy, you can leave them in the woods for 29 years and they'll start right the hell up
I agree, my old Vette is 25 years old, lives outside in all weather's and starts first time every time, its never let me down in the 6 years I've owned it.
I wasn't expecting it to just start - I thought I'd have to fight to get it to live, but what a super bit of kit!

The o ly real issue I have with it right now is my alternator is going out the door, but other then that it hasn't let me down. 216,000 miles on the clock. It'll be -60 outside during the dead of winter and it always starts up right off the bat. And it lives outside, I dont have a garage

Certainly American made 😂
It’s slightly annoying that a blazer dumped in the woods has less rust than most of the cars on the road here in England

I didn't really get why there where three just sitting there. Maybe they'll become parts cars?
Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels could be That one that you started. That tells me that it could be a worthy candidate for a restoration but I’m assuming that from what you found on that piece of paper that this thing could never be resurrected again unless you can somehow come up with a salvage title would be the best way to go about that the fact that it actually moved after you started it tells me that it’s probably still a decent vehicle to get on the road again now that depends what’s wrong with it cosmetically as far as the body or the chassis
I have to agree with you there probably most likely going to become parts cars
