Chronic stress can affect every system in the body. Let's talk about how to lower cortisol and relieve stress.
We've been told that our environment is dangerous, which causes a lot of stress and anxiety. But, while our environment may be dangerous, it's not as dangerous as many are led to believe-and it's not healthy to keep your attention on this negativity.
It's vital to change your viewpoint on your environment and see it in a positive light, as well as filter out some of the negativity you're exposed to.
Chronic stress can potentially lead to various health issues, including:
    • A weak microbiome and more pathogenic bacteria
    • A poor immune system
    • Inflammation
    • Fertility problems
    • High insulin levels
    • High triglycerides and LDL and low HDL
    • Poor detoxification
    • Slow digestion
    • Poor absorption of vitamins and minerals (including vitamin D)
    • Tightened fascia
    • Cognitive problems
    • The activation of bad genes and suppression of good genes
Two of the best ways to deal with stress and cortisol:
    1. Change the viewpoint of your environment and filter out various threats of danger
    • Get space in nature
    • Connect with your environment
    2. Physically flush out accumulated adrenaline and cortisol
    • Exercise
    • Do physical work

PTSD-C over here, and it feels nearly impossible to avoid stress and I've not managed to get a handle on my stress response. Even if I hide out at home, crazy stress inducing circumstances seem to always find me. Last weekend, neighbor downstairs locked their dog in a bathroom for days and it literally barked, cried, whined for 24 hours straight. Two days ago, AC went out, and was 83 inside my place for 24 hours. A couple months ago, I came home at 3am to find a strangers dog inside my home, with a closed front gate and closed door, so a stranger opened my door to let this dog into my home (I was of course majorly frightened thinking there may also be a stranger in my home as well to go along with the dog). A few months ago, a crazy neighbor lit her 30 foot high tree on fire just 25 feet from my door, and was yelling like a crazy person for 2 hours outside prior to lighting the tree on fire, and I had to call 911. I don't even live in "bad" neighborhoods, just nothing fancy. But I literally can't avoid weird super stressful things even when I hide out at home. So exhausting, and I have no clue how to avoid constant stress mode. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Even though its a manual therapy it impacts and balances the Nervous system so often they notice improvement not only in posture but sleep, improved digestive system, helps regulate hormonal imbalances etc.. They often don't understand how the Bowen Therapy can have such a profound effect on the body. So good to have found you and your videos as it it great to help my patients understand. I think I have been in danger mode my whole life because of the environment and messages I grew up with. This has disabled me in so many ways: feeling alien, not good enough no matter how much I do or how hard I try, overworking myself in work and in relationships, being too nice, giving too much , putting up with abuse... My health has massively suffered because of this and I am sure the perimenopause symptoms I have are also due to this. Even though I exercise and eat a lot of healthy foods, my cortisol levels are off the charts and the slightest 'threat' stresses me out. That defense posture you describe is my posture and no amount of exercise has fixed it. Thank you for this enlightening information. This is a Wonderful and so much Needed video! The fact that you, Dr. Berg, go beyond our physical health issues is precious because the matter responds to the thoughts and emotions. I appreciate your mentioning of "filtering out" information, Ketogenic diet that may not give the desired results because of the stress and Epigenetics-such an important field of biology. "Talking about problems without providing solutions"-VERY useful point! Many thanks for being so professional and having such broad horizons.

Thank you so much for this video Dr Berg! This explains such a lot for me. I have lived with chronic illness for nearly 15 years now and have also had family stress piled onto me on top of that. I know my Diabetes Type 2, hypertension & high LDL are the result of all this so now I really try to keep my stress levels down as much as possible. In fact, I have a imaginary bucket that I throw things into that I can do nothing about and which do not affect me. But I see so many 'angry' people around, all wound up because they have swallowed so much misinformation and embellished 'news' that they have read or heard online. Why live your life in such stress? It is sad.

He only demonstrated how lucky he is to live in a safe environment but demonstrates no understanding of the millions who don’t- even just living in a bad area or city or council estate with gangs

Real problems exist for others that you don't feel. You're being dismissive when you're not the one getting impacted.

Great info as usual, appreciate you Dr Berg! Bottom line, without my hope in the Lord and the joy, strength, peace, healing He gives, I couldn't make it through. Over Twenty yrs of 24/7 caregiving to a now adult severely brain injured daughter many days leaves me in much stress. However we do what we can to minimize and enjoy our lives using wisdom given from wonderful people like you, Blessings Dr Berg!

For me personally, the main source of stress was thinking that I have to accomplish as much as possible in a day or that things are urgent, they just have to be done. I was constantly speeding through every task. I was constantly thinking of the next thing I have to do. But one day it clicked : that’s not why I live and that’s not what I live for. I live to enjoy my life with the people I love. I started to embrace a slow living lifestyle and I feel totally different. I stoped rushing and I try to do everything with enjoyment and at my own natural pace. So what if something remains undone? Not the most important things like eating and taking care of my children, but so what if the house is not perfectly clean? Me being calm and happy is more important!
I also try to avoid stress coming from other sources. I don’t watch the news. I take care of my mind, to feed it positive and good things.

Didn't realise this direct and significant link between stress and muscle loss. Thank you as always
